2023 marks the 45th anniversary of the release of Jaws 2 (watch it Here), the most well-regarded of the Jaws sequels – and Universal is celebrating the occasion by giving the film a 4K Uhd release! The Jaws 2 4K Uhd will be available on July 4th, which seems like a fitting date since the first Jaws is a Fourth of July classic. Copies can be pre-ordered at This Link.

2023 marks the 45th anniversary of the release of Jaws 2 (watch it Here), the most well-regarded of the Jaws sequels. So it seems quite appropriate that a cool Jaws 2 discovery had been made this year: The Daily Jaws has found a long-lost scene from the film, and the only known footage of this scene comes from a Brazilian VHS! This leads me to believe that the scene was probably always included in the Brazilian home video release of Jaws 2, but that’s not completely clear from the report on The Daily Jaws.

What we do know is that Jaws 2 begins with a pair of divers being attacked by a shark while checking out the sunken wreckage of the Orca boat from the first movie. Viewers watching the 2020 Golden Globe Awards will not see an in memoriam segment.

In recent years, the annual awards show has opted not to have a segment honoring those who have died throughout the year — with Golden Globes producer Barry Adelman telling People back in 2017 that “those things are handled really well by the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild.”

Instead, the Golden Globes pays tribute to the fallen stars of the year with an In Memoriam page on its website.

In 2017, the Golden Globes made a small exception to the in memoriam rule: honoring the sudden deaths of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

Barry Coe, who starred in the 1957 film Peyton Place, was considered as a possible series regular on Bonanza and became familiar to a new generation of TV viewers as the Mr. Goodwrench character in commercials that ran in the 1970s and ’80s, died July 16 in Palm Desert, CA. He was 84.

Coe’s death from the bone marrow disease myelodysplastic syndrome was announced by his family.

A resident of Sun Valley, ID, in later life, Coe began his Hollywood career with small, uncredited roles in such mid-1950s fare as How to Be Very, Very Popular, D-Day The Sixth of June and TV’s Cheyenne, moving on to credited roles in the 1956 Elvis Presley hit Love Me Tender and TV’s The 20th Century-Fox Hour.

The book was raw & dirty, and did you read what that girl did with that guy on page 167? Racking up a stack of Oscar nominations, Peyton Place became one of the big hits of its year, launched the careers of several young actors, and proved that Hollywood could pasteurize most any so-called un-filmable book. Lana Turner is the nominal star but the leading actress is Diane Varsi, in her film debut.

We have Frank Miller to thank for reminding us of the valiant tale of the Battle at Thermopylae as 300 Spartans fought off an invading force from Persia. His 300 graphic novel is a wonderful retelling of the tale and a pretty damn fine film from Zack Snyder. With the film sequel forthcoming any second now, 20th Century Home Entertainment has wisely issued the Blu-ray debut of the film that inspired Miller when he first saw it as a kid. The 300 Spartans may lack the visual panache of Snyder’s version but it makes for compelling viewing.

Oh, the script is nowhere near interesting although it does a nice job of sticking to the historic facts as Leonidas (Richard Egan) is asked by Themistocles of Athens (Ralph Richardson) to lead the army against King Xerxes (David Farrar).
