Crime drama “Bookish” from “Sherlock’s” Mark Gatiss and “Estranei,” directed by Cosimo Alemà, will world premiere at the inaugural edition of the Italian Global Series Festival. Igsf, headed by artistic director Marco Spagnoli, will run June 21-28 in Rimini and Riccione, Italy.
Gatiss is “Bookish’s” executive producer, creator and lead actor. The six-episode limited series, which is set in London in 1946, is produced by Eagle Eye Drama for UKTV and PBS, in association with Happy Duck Films and supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter. Beta Film holds worldwide distribution rights on all seasons, while PBS Distribution holds the North American rights.
The show centers on a bookshop in London’s Archangel Lane, named after its eccentric but whipsmart owner, Book (Gatiss). A former military spy turned maverick detective, Book relishes helping the police solve their most complex murder cases.
