Black Bear has unveiled a raft of cast additions to David Michôd’s untitled Sydney Sweeney-led biopic about boxing champion Christy Martin, as filming starts.

The film tells the true story of Martin, who rose to fame as America’s most successful female boxer in the 1990s, at the same time as dealing with personal demons and toxic relationships behind the scenes.

The new arrivals on the production include Emmy nominee and Independent Spirit Award winner Ben Foster (Hell or High Water), Emmy winner Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie), 2024 breakout Katy O’Brian, Ethan Embry (Sweet Home Alabama), Jess Gabor (Shameless), and Chad L. Coleman (The Wire).

Sweeney was previously announced to star as the renowned boxer, with a script written by Mirrah Foulkes and Michôd. Production commenced today in North Carolina.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch have taken their final bow for Superman & Lois at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Hoechlin and Tulloch portray the titular Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, respectively, in the beloved CW series, airing its fourth and final season in October.

In a video from the Superman & Lois Sdcc Hall H panel posted by Geeks Vibes Nation on X (formerly known as Twitter), Hoechlin and Tulloch were joined by Superman & Lois executive producers Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing as they took their final bow. They made the gesture in front of an applauding and grateful audience, acknowledging their stellar performances in what many argue is the best Arrowverse show. The CW announced Superman & Lois Season 4 in June 2023, confirming last November that it would be the series' final installment. In said trailer, Captain Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) tries to eat a marble and asks an alien to move over so he is framed better in the viewscreen. Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) drinks beer while on duty, flying a shuttle, at 9:15 a.m. Commander Kelly Grayson’s (Adrianne Palicki) former marriage to Mercer is treated to rather stale “comic” arguments about going to therapy. Mercer’s reaction to Lt. Commander Bortus’s (Peter Macon) species being entirely male is to observe, with truly cutting and original wit, that they probably don’t have many arguments about leaving the toilet seat up.

Shared to Instagram by MacFarlane, and later to YouTube by Peacock, the video shows Ted (voiced by MacFarlane) in 1993 writing a letter to his future self celebrating their forthcoming streaming success. While past Ted shares his dreams of "flying cars, normal weather and new TV characters that don't just rehash old stuff," Ted in the present bemoans his younger self's naivety, though he does confirm the future boasts "unlimited porn in our pockets." Adapted from a comic that ran for 144 serialized issues, Prime Video’s Invincible has a lot of plot to get through if it wants to hit its seven-to-eight season target.

That means that any given episode of the show features abundant background material with supporting characters in addition to the usual Mark Grayson a.k.a. Invincible (Steven Yeun) hijinx. The latest example of a seemingly unimportant character getting prominent billing comes in season 2 episode 2 “In About Six Hours I Lose My Virginity to a Fish.” While Mark prepares to fulfill the unfortunate promise of the episode’s title, the plot occasionally drifts over to focus on a very strange astronaut named Rus Livingston (voiced by Sonic the Hedgehog himself: Ben Schwartz).

The upcoming fourth season of the CW’s “Superman & Lois” will be its last. The series’ final ten episodes are set to air in 2024.
