Twilight: Breaking Dawn director Bob Condon has told MTV News that he nearly cast James Franco as a vampire extra in the film, but changed his mind due to the Oscar-nominated actor's high profile. "What could James Franco play that doesn't feel like 'Where's Waldo?'," Condon said. "It would have involved [him] hanging around for two months in a scene with 80 people."
Franco talked about his interest in appearing in Breaking Dawn, the fourth film in the Twilight saga, in an interview with Playboy magazine earlier this month. He had hoped that his performance would form part a multimedia project that he was working on with a classmate at Yale.
