The 1990s were a fantastic time for Nicolas Cage and a decade that featured some of his greatest film roles. After building up his reputation throughout the 1980s, this was the era that Cage really broke into the mainstream to become a household name and one of the biggest movie stars Hollywood had ever seen. Not only did this period feature his Oscar-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas, but Cage also proved his skills as a major action hero in a number of now-iconic movies, including Con Air and Face/Off.
Many of the best Nicolas Cage movies were released during the 1990s, as he proved himself a sternly committed actor willing to take serious risks. While there were some truly disappointing releases during this decade, the fact that Cage was willing to fail and come back swinging proved him an actor of great determination and ability. Greek culture, family dynamics, and love are central themes in the My Big Fat Greek Wedding trilogy. Toula's journey to embrace her heritage and marry Ian is at the heart of the immensely popular rom-com series. The films showcase not only the humorous side of Greek American life but also the deep bonds within the Portokalos family.
Much of My Big Fat Greek Wedding hinges on just how massive Toula Portokalos' (Nia Vardalos) brood is, which only makes the Portokalos/Miller family tree more than a tad complicated. Penned by Vardalos, the first entry in the My Big Fat Greek Wedding movie trilogy is based on the writer and star's one-woman 45-minute monologue workshop. After fellow Greek actor Rita Wilson and her husband, Tom Hanks, saw Vardalos' show, the Hollywood couple produced the 2002 film, which sees an aimless Toula falling in love with Ian Miller (John Corbett), all while coming into her own.

Actor Joe Mantegna has previously recorded a commentary for the 1996 Stephen King adaptation Thinner with the film’s director Tom Holland (whose other credits include Fright Night and Child’s Play)… but that didn’t stop him from sitting down to record a new commentary for Scream Factory’s upcoming Blu-ray release of Thinner! This time, Mantegna was joined by producer Mitchell Galin – and we’ll get to hear what they had to say about Thinner when the Blu-ray is released on January 23rd. Copies are available for pre-order through the Scream Factory website and on Amazon.
Scripted by Tom Holland and Michael McDowell, Thinner is based on a novel King wrote under his Richard Bachman pen name and tells a story of supernatural terror as one man faces a countdown to the ultimate excruciating payback. A 109-year-old Romani man, hell-bent on revenge for the death of his daughter, exacts a...

By the time "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" hit theaters this year, a whole lot had happened between the popular franchise's second installment and its third. On screen, Nick (Louis Mandylor) got separated, Maria (Lainie Kazan) developed dementia, and Ian (John Corbett) retired. Offscreen, Andrea Martin gained new stardom playing demon-hunting nun Sister Andrea in the Paramount+ series "Evil," while the cast also lost one co-star -- Michael Constantine, who passed away in 2021.
The new movie's plot hinges around the aftermath of patriarch Gus' (Constantine) death, as Toula (Nia Vardalos) explains in the film's trailer that it was Gus' last wish that the family visit his childhood village in Greece. Thus, instead of a wedding, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" actually centers around a family reunion with all the cultural flair you'd expect from the Portokalos family. If you missed the movie in theaters, you won't have to...

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 will be released for streaming on Peacock on November 3, just two months after its theatrical release. The film faced a lukewarm reception from critics and only grossed $38 million worldwide, marking a decline from the previous films in the franchise. The absence of Michael Constantine, who passed away in 2021, and the decline in box office performance raise concerns for the future of the franchise.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3's streaming release date on Peacock has been revealed. Released in theaters on September 18, the third film in the franchise follows Toula after Gus' death as she attempts to find her late father's childhood friends in Greece for a family reunion. It is the first installment not to star Michael Constantine, who passed away in 2021, though the My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 cast does feature the return of Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, Louis Mandylor,...

John Stamos appeared on “The Howard Stern Show” to promote his new memoir, “If You Would Have Told Me,” and revealed that his alcoholism got so bad around 2015 that he actually does not remember being on set to film his role in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.” The actor appeared to forget he even booked a part in the film and was reminded the day after his 2015 arrest for driving under the influence that he had to go to Toronto, Canada, to film.
In previous interviews, Stamos has said his 2015 DUI arrest was a definitive moment in convincing him that it was time to get sober. But it didn’t happen instantly. He told Stern that after he got home from jail, he “drank another bottle of wine by myself.”

“The Nun II” spooked the box office with $13 million on opening day, including $3.1 million in previews.
The ninth and latest chapter in Warner Bros. “Conjuring” series is expected to open around to $31.3 million this weekend from 3,728 locations, a drop from the record-setting original movie but enough to surpass Denzel Washington and Sony’s “The Equalizer 3.” The 2018 “Nun” original scored the highest opening of a movie in the “Conjuring” universe with $53.8 million, and it’s the series’ highest-grossing worldwide with $365.5 million.
Taissa Farmiga and Bonnie Aarons return as Sister Irene and the titular Nun, respectively, with Jonas Bloquet, Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell joining the franchise. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 brings back the Portokalos family for a fun trip to Greece, full of shenanigans and humor, but it falls short of the charm and excitement of the previous films. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is a major letdown, with repetitive plot points, dry jokes, and a lack of excitement and pacing. It fails to maintain the spirit of the first film. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is the best of the three films, with an outstanding emotional throughline, genuine humor, and a focused and well-paced narrative. It is touching, hilarious, and relatable, drawing from the writer's own life experiences.

There has already been one sequel, and despite the sequels’ titles, Toula is not getting married again, as she is still married to that first non-Greek guy from the original movie. After 21 years since this larger-than-life franchise first hit our screens, writer and leading lady Nia Vardalos revisits this world once again in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3”. Arguably, seeing a 3 in a film’s title (other than Toy Story 3…) might encourage an eyeroll – especially considering the state of the industry right now, but there is an inescapable warmth with this comedy franchise.
In the third installment of this series, you are immediately transported to a beautiful Greek setting that is dripping in history and vivid hues. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is like reuniting with a chaotic and fun-loving family, sparking joy and nostalgia. The film features stunning visuals of Greece and the hilarious Theia Voula steals the show with her comedic dialogue. However, the film suffers from too many subplots, leading to a lack of focus and affecting its pacing and overall cohesiveness.
The Portokalos family is back in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, and they’re still as chaotic and fun-loving as ever. When it comes to comedy sequels, it’s hard to recreate the magic of the original. Nia Vardalos, who wrote My Big Fat Greek Wedding and wrote/directed its third installment, has always tried her best to do so with the material, but it never landed in quite the same way. Ever been invited to a family reunion you had no desire to attend? You may be tired of seeing your relatives and listening to their familiar routines, which can be downright annoying at times. But then you force yourself to go and you find that you have a good time after all, at least for a little while.
That’s roughly the experience of seeing My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, the latest chapter in the saga of the eccentric Portokalas family previously seen in the wildly popular 2002 original and its much less successful 2016 sequel (the less said about the short-lived 2003 sitcom spin-off My Big Fat Greek Life, the better). If you enjoyed spending time with Nia Vardalos’ Toula and the rest of her extended clan, you’ll probably have a good time again, even if the characters and jokes are wearing thin with repetition.

“Give me a word, any word,” Michael Constantine’s Gus Portokalos implored to anyone who would listen in 2002’s My Big Fat Greek Wedding, “and I’ll show you how the root of that word is Greek.” The old man’s words recur early on in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, spoken not by the Portokalos patriarch (Constantine himself died in 2021), but by his grieving daughter, Toula (Nia Vardalos), reminding her own daughter, Paris (Elena Kampouris), of Gus’s grinning legacy and the gaping hole he’s left behind.
Toula is doing her father’s voice and smiling when she delivers that tribute, but there are tears in her eyes too. The laughs here, for both characters and audiences, tend to echo through the gauze of nostalgia, making the film an unexpectedly moving entry in the franchise, if not an uproariously funny one. Back in 2002, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” introduced mainstream audiences to all the heartwarming moments, overbearing relatives, and downright craziness of coming from a large Greek-American family. Somehow, Nia Vardalos’ breakout rom-com spurred a two-decade-long trilogy; sadly, the third installment relies too heavily on its stunning Corfu scenery instead of an actual plot.
This is Vardalos’ first time in the director’s chair for the trilogy that she penned; “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” is also Vardalos’ sophomore directorial effort overall. It shows. Jokes fall flat while attempts at seriousness are downright hilarious in their off-tone delivery.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is set to take place in Greece and will focus on a new romance and the passing of Toula's father. The first two films in the franchise were successful and profitable, and the third installment needs to be a big hit at the box office to continue the franchise's success. In order for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 to succeed from a profit perspective, it needs to gross at least $57.5 million at the box office.
With the theatrical release of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 around the corner, it's worth looking at how much the movie cost to make and what its box office gross will need to be in order to make it a financial success. The third installment in the franchise is set to take place in Greece, continuing the theme of Toula (Nia Vardalos) exploring her heritage and embracing her culture.

The first My Big Fat Greek Wedding, released in 2002, was directed by John Zwick, and the second one by Kirk Jones. The original My Big Fat Greek Wedding followed the journey of Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos (Nia Vardalos), a shy woman surrounded by boisterous personalities. To overcome her parents and her culture's expectations, Toula courageously enrolls in college to learn computer technology. This leads to her landing a new job and more independence. Nia Vardalos takes on the role of director for the first time in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, in addition to writing and starring in the film. John Corbett, who plays Vardalos' on-screen husband, is praised as a brilliant actor and a dream to work with. The film pays tribute to the late Michael Constantine, who played Gus Portokalos, by fulfilling his character's dying wish to visit his childhood village in Greece.
The Portokalos family is heading to Greece… “and there you go.” Nia Vardalos is the mastermind behind not only My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 but the entire family-friendly franchise. In 2002, she wrote and starred in the franchise’s first film. But in the latest installment, Vardalos is also sitting in the director’s chair for the very first time. As has become standard in recent years, our annual fall and winter film preview comes with something of an asterisk: it’s (another!) unpredictable time for movies, right down to when we might even expect to see them. With both the WGA and SAG-afra strikes still winding on, everything from production to promotion has been disrupted for many new features, and the entire calendar remains in flux.
And yet, even with those very valid concerns in place, the next three months at the multiplex (and beyond) offer a bounty of exciting new films. We’re talking new films from Martin Scorsese, Pablo Larraín, Sofia Coppola, Todd Haynes, Emerald Fennell, David Fincher, Jonathan Glazer, Taika Waititi, Justine Triet, Wes Anderson, and Yorgos Lanthimos. Jeff Nichols is back, as is Godfrey Reggio and the juicy stars of “Chicken Run.” Festival faves like Christos Nikou, Kristoffer Borgli, and Chloe Domont make a play for further dominance.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 takes place in Greece, allowing the audience to experience the beauty and authenticity of the country. The film quickly moves the family to Greece, spending the majority of the movie there, rather than focusing on the preparation for the trip. The story revolves around a family reunion and a visit to Toula's father's childhood village, bringing a sense of connection to the immigrant experience.
The Portokalos family formally invites fans to join them in Greece for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. It’s been 21 years since Toula (Nia Vardalos) and Ian (John Corbett) fell head over heels for one another in My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). The brainchild and creation of its star, Vardalos, the latest installment in the heartfelt franchise will see the family return to its roots in Greece, which is where the cast and crew actually shot on location.

The Portokalos family is headed back to Greece! A third My Big Fat Greek Wedding movie is on the way, and this time it will follow Toula (Nia Vardalos) as she brings her entire family back to her late father Gus's (Michael Constantine) childhood village to reconnect with their roots.
The first "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" movie premiered in 2002, and focuses on 30-year-old Toula as she prepares to marry the very non-Greek Ian (John Corbett) in a lavish Grecian ceremony. The 2016 sequel follows Toula and Ian as they navigate family life with their defiant daughter (Elena Kampouris). Vardalos penned each of the films in addition to starring in them, but "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" marks the first time she's also serving as the director.
Apparently "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" was actually ready to go a few years ago, but was delayed by the pandemic.

The official My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 trailer reveals Fotoula ‘Toula’ Portokalos (writer/director/actor Nia Vardalos) is keeping a promise to her late father to take the family back home and locate his old friends.

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was the true definition of a sleeper hit: a quirky romantic comedy that came out of nowhere to crack the top 10 at the 2002 box office and readily outgross the likes of "Minority Report," "Chicago," and "The Bourne Identity." (Just gonna let that sink in for a moment.) Now, 21 years later, Nia Vardalos' rom-com is giving rise to a trilogy with "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" -- a sequel that, contrary to its title, may not actually involve a wedding at all.
What shenanigans, you might ask, is Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos (Vardalos) and her zany clan of relatives up to this time? Taking a trip to Greece for a family reunion, naturally! Unfortunately, the Portokalos' would-be carefree vacation is tinged with a lining of sadness due to the recent passing of patriarch Costas/"Gus." The Portokalos family is coming together once again for “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” but this time, they’re getting back to their roots.
In the first trailer for the threequel, we learn that the patriarch of the family, Gus, has passed away — the actor who played him, Michael Constantine, died in 2021 — and his dying wish was for his family to venture to the village in Greece that he grew up in. Yes, the whole family.
Naturally, chaos ensues, beginning with Aunt Voula (Andrea Martin) happily doling out souvlaki to everyone on the plane, and Paris (Elena Kampouris) running into a handsome man named Aristotle who she apparently ghosted.

The My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 trailer showcases the return of one of America's most iconic families. The film is the third outing for the franchise, which began with the smash hit 2002 feature My Big Fat Greek Wedding, written by and starring Nia Vardalos. The film, which told the story of her character Toula Portokalos' attempt to have her impending nuptials to Ian Miller (John Corbett) go off without a hitch despite her intrusive and huge Greek-American family, was followed by the short-lived 2003 series My Big Fat Greek Life and had its first film sequel in 2016.
Focus Features shared the official trailer for the film just four months shy of the My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 release date on September 8. Check it out below:
The opening to the trailer reveals that Toula's father, who was played by the late Michael Constantine in the first two films, has passed away.

The Hustler is a movie made in 1961 directed by Robert Rossen and starring Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason and Piper Laurie.
The Hustler is a legendary movie about pool with the marvelous atmosphere and rhythms of the movies of the Sixties, when films were beginning to change. Curiously, this film was done in black and white, which underscores its tone which was rather melancholic and it is an older world in which the characters seem to live in a past that is about to crumble.
It all starts with a match between Fast Eddie (Newman) and Minnesota Fats (Gleason). By the way, the real name of Minnesota Fats was George Hegerman, and the character is based on a real person who looked very much like Gleason. Newman loses and meets a girl in a bus station who is a bit of a drunkard, and since there is a “moral”, this doesn...

Nearly five decades after achieving two consecutive Best TV Comedy Actor Golden Globe victories for “Happy Days,” Henry Winkler could now become the first man to ever be honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for both lead and supporting performances on comedy programs. The septuagenarian “Barry” cast member did not succeed on his first two Golden Globe bids for the HBO show, but his luck may change now that he is competing in a brand new category.
Ahead of the 80th Golden Globes, the HFPA established the Best TV Comedy/Drama Supporting Actor and Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor categories as replacements for a catch-all one that had existed since 1971. Whereas Winkler was beaten in 2019 and 2020 by limited series actors Ben Whishaw (“A Very English Scandal”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Chernobyl”), he now does not have to concern himself with losing to performers from non-continuing programs. Nia Vardalos has announced that production has begun in Athens, Greece, on “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3,” the second sequel to her hit 2002 family comedy.
But Vardalos also announced a director for the film — confirming that she will in fact be behind the director’s chair for the third installment in the franchise. It will make the film only her second outing as a director and her first in over a decade since directing 2009’s “I Hate Valentine’s Day.”
“Thank you to Playtone, Gold Circle, HBO and Focus! And much love and gratitude to you all for your support as we waited to film. Greece baby. Greece!,” she also added in a caption on Instagram along with a brief video message announcing the film.
Vardalos did not disclose whether any cast from the prior two films would be returning for the sequel, nor did she reveal any plot details.

Who will be included for the special “In Memoriam” segment for Sunday night’s Oscars 2022 ceremony? For almost all other Academy Awards productions since the 1990s, producers typically select 40-50 people from the various branches. The 2021 segment had close to 100 people in a particularly fast-paced three minutes that was not very well-received since many of them were only on screen for a second or two.

Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will return to its normal two-hour live format on TNT and TBS. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute. The 2021 segment saluted 55 people because they had responsibility for 14 months instead of 12.
Among that group will certainly be previous SAG president Ed Asner, who was also a life achievement award recipient. That honorary award was also presented to Sidney Poitier and Betty White, who both died this past year.

Nia Vardalos reunited with her My Big Fat Greek Wedding costars Louis Mandylor, Lainie Kazan, and Gia Carides to tribute their costar Michael Constantine who died on Aug. 31 at the age of 94.
“Friends in real life are why our films are so much fun to make,” she wrote. “Cousin Nikki @gia.carides & brother Nick @louismandylorofficial & mom, @lainie_kazan gathered to honor the memory of Michael Constantine, may he rest in peace.”
She added of Constantine, “He had told me he wouldn’t be able to join us for the third film and his wish was that we go on. I wrote the screenplay to reflect Michael’s decision and will always treasure his last messages to me, hoping we were filming soon.”
The Instagram post also shared little details about the third installment from the franchise that Deadline hears will involve Toula (Vardalos) and Ian’s (John Corbett) daughter Paris’ (Elena Kampouris) wedding.
