Pete Davidson is opening up about the reality of working on lower-budget indie film sets.

The Saturday Night Live alum made an appearance on the latest installment of Hot Ones, where he was asked by host Sean Evans about his experience working alongside the legendary Bill Murray.

That’s when Davidson recalled his indie crime comedy Riff Raff, which also starred Murray. Despite getting to work with the “icon of comedy and film” on the project, he also remembered how “tough” indie films can be to make.

“The movie we did — it’s a tough one because it’s an indie, so there’s no budget and there’s not anything glamorous about it,” Davidson explained. “No one makes money, no one’s comfortable, it’s strictly like for the art.”

However, the Bupkis actor added that Murray offered him a lot of guidance to help make the indie set experience a bit easier.

“Hacks” Season 4 won big at the 2025 Dorian TV Awards, the 17th annual awards show from Galeca: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics. Altogether, the Max comedy starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder won five awards, by far the most of any one series.

Despite all of the idiosyncratic behavior displayed by the dog owners in Christopher Guest’s 2000 satire Best in Show, there was one moment Guest heard of as he was researching the cutthroat world of professional dog shows that he thought was too extreme to include in his film.

Specifically, Guest heard that backstage “a person came along with a clipper” and cut off part of the dog’s hair right before the show.

“That dog cannot be shown for then a year or whatever. That’s how brutal that was,” Guest said after a 25th anniversary screening of Best in Show at the 2025 Tribeca Festival. “They would come and clip huge segments out of the fur, and that’s how vicious it was.”

Warner Bros. Discovery has teamed up with DJ/drag superstar Trixie Mattel on a new song intended to celebrate Pride. And oh yeah, it also honors HBO Max.

“Gay HBO Max Song” was released on Friday, June 27 — the penultimate weekday of Pride Month 2025. The music video, which ironically was released before Max officially rebranded de-branded back to “HBO Max,” is meant to “amplify queer joy,” a third-party PR rep for the collaboration told The Hollywood Reporter.

The single lays a few very meme-able quotes from HBO/Max shows atop the beat, including Sydney Sweeney’s “I’ve never been happier!” line from Euphoria, Jennifer Coolidge’s “These gays are trying to kill me!” from The White Lotus, “Whatever happened to fun?” from Sex & the City — and others. The selections mark “HBO Max’s most iconic quotes” as “uplifted and made relevant by the queer community,” the pitch to press reads.

The White Lotus cast may have better luck at the Emmys in Los Angeles than their on-screen counterparts did during their ill-fated Thai vacation. While tragedy shadowed the fictional guests at the resort, the series’ stellar Emmy track record hints at a much brighter fate this awards season.

If history is any indicator, The White Lotus is poised for another big night. The show’s first season swept 10 Emmys, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Season 2 followed suit with five wins, among them Jennifer Coolidge’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In her now-iconic acceptance speech, Coolidge thanked creator Mike White, saying:

When he leaves work, he's stuck being plain old Mark Scout, but at work, on the "severed" floor, he's Mark S., a willing acolyte of Lumon who has no idea that he ever had a wife, let alone lost one.

The third season of the lush drama was the largest project the 21-year old actor has ever worked on, and it’s an experience he won’t ever forget, partly thanks to the incredible list of talent and creatives he had the opportunity to work alongside. Before traveling to Thailand to portray youngest Ratliff sibling Lochlan, Nivola landed parts in the Bradley Cooper-starring Maestro and Netflix’s The Perfect Couple, which carries a similar murderous vibe, though White Lotus was his first standout role as an actor.

There’s no denying that Nivola’s career has swelled since The White Lotus, and he thanks White (who he says he would “jump off the Empire State Building for”) and his co-stars (all “legends”) for the lessons he was able to learn so early on in his career.
