'Reacher' Season 4 Recasts Jay Baruchel Weeks After Casting Announcement
Image
The Reachercast and crew got a surprise visit from former United States President Joe Biden recently, as the show's star Alan Ritchson posted about the interaction on social media. However, that's not the only reason why the show has been trending lately. Aside from that presidential experience and fans' excitement about Season 4 (which is currently being filmed), news of a recast has been announced. According to Deadline, Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette, who starred in Freddy vs. Jason and Race to Witch Mountain, joined the cast in a recasting. The opportunity arose after actor Jay Baruchel had to exit the series for personal reasons.

Deadline reported that the replacement comes after it was revealed that Baruchel joined the cast a few weeks ago. Rodriguez-Marquette will now play Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman. The role is no small part; it is supposedly meaty, which means the actor's character should have a lot of camera time.

Sam Rockwell Was Almost ‘Gonna Be a Star’ in ‘Lean on Me,’ but Was Cut (and Still Gets Residuals)
Image
“Hey, I’m gonna be a star.” That was almost Sam Rockwell’s line in “Lean on Me.” The 1989 film which starred Morgan Freeman as the real-life educator Joe Louis Clark. Rockwell was cast in the film, but — as he revealed during a recent appearance on the podcast “Happy Sad Confused” — that one line ended up going to Michael Imperioli.

“They never got to my scene,” Rockwell explained to host Josh Horowitz (via Entertainment Weekly). “So they had to let me go because they didn’t want to pay me for a week. So they got to pay for a day player or pay for a week. So they… let me go. They fired me… And because they were like, ‘Ah, we can’t pay them a week for one line.’ And then they hired Michael, and Michael [Imperioli] got it. Michael’s in the movie, but I still got residuals…...

Jay Baruchel Was Almost In Prime Video’s Reacher Until Ryan Reynolds’ 2005 Film Co-star Stole It Overnight
Image
Reacher is returning to the screens with its fourth season, bringing back Alan Ritchson along with the rest of the star-studded cast. Besides the actors who were already there, the incredible cast has also been met with additions as some new stars have been cast in the show as well – a list that formerly included actor Jay Baruchel, too.

However, as the release date of the same draws near, the Prime Video series has some rather disappointing news to share with the fans: the fan-favorite Baruchel can no longer make its way to the screens alongside Ritchson’s titular hero. Instead, the role has been recast with another stunning actor: Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette.

Reacher Season 4 Recasts Major Character Shortly After Filming Started
Image
Prime Video's hit action series Reacher is officially coming back with Season 4. The fans won't have to wait long, as the show has returned to filming a few months after Season 3's finale in March.

The series is based on Lee Child's Jack Reacher anthology series, and follows its titular protagonist, an elite ex-military police major, as he travels across the U.S., exposing conspiracies, corruption, and trafficking. Many cast members changed from one season to the other, and Reacher Season 4 has recently announced new additions. However, shortly after the cast reveal, Deadline reports Jay Baruchel has been recast, and Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette will take over.

How to Train Your Dragon's Jay Baruchel had been originally cast as Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman. However, he was reportedly "forced to exit" the production shortly after he was cast to "attend to a personal matter." Instead, Barry star Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette will take over the role.

Sam Rockwell Says He Still Gets Residual Checks For ‘Lean On Me’ “Even Though I’m Not In It”
Image
Of his many memorable performances, Sam Rockwell is apparently still getting paid for one that never happened.

The Oscar winner recently recalled when he, Michael Imperioli and Kevin Corrigan “drove in a van to New Jersey to audition for one line in Lean on Me” early in their careers, as well as how he still gets paid despite not appearing in the 1989 film.

“And then I got it,” said Rockwell on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “And then, they never got to my scene, so they had to let me go because they didn’t want to pay me for a week. So, they gotta pay you for a day player or pay you for a week. So, they let me go. They didn’t fire me, they just sort of let me go because they were like, ‘We can’t pay him a week for one line.’ And then Michael got it.

Sam Rockwell Says He Still Gets Residual Checks for ‘Lean on Me’ “Even Though I’m Not in It”
Image
Sam Rockwell may not actually be in the 1989 film Lean on Me, but he’s still paid for the role he almost had.

The Oscar winner recently shared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he, Michael Imperioli and Kevin Corrigan drove together in a van to New Jersey to audition for a single line in the movie, starring Morgan Freeman and Beverly Todd.

While Rockwell ultimately landed the role, he admitted they “never got to my scene” during filming. “So they had to let me go because they didn’t want to pay me for a week,” he said, adding that they just paid him for the day. “They were like, we can’t pay him a week for one line.”

Imperioli was later cast for the role, but The White Lotus actor said, “I still get residual checks for that even though I’m not in it.”

'Reacher' Recasts How to Train Your Dragon Trilogy Star, 43, Ahead of Season 4
Image
Reacher’s next case just got a whole lot more complicated — and it’s bringing in a fresh face to help crack it. Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette (HBO’s Barry) has joined the cast of Reacher Season 4 in a recasting, according to Deadline. He steps into the role of small-town cop Jacob Merrick, a character described as pivotal in the upcoming season’s adaptation of Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in Lee Child’s long-running Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) series. Rodriguez-Marquette replaces Jay Baruchel, who was originally announced for the role just weeks ago but exited due to personal reasons. According to sources close to production, the casting was a lightning-fast turnaround: Rodriguez-Marquette was hired the same day the role became available and flown to set just days later.

In Gone Tomorrow, Reacher finds himself entangled in a deadly web after a tragic encounter on a New York subway. As always, it...

Reacher Season 4 Recasts Major New Character With Barry Star After Sudden Exit
Image
Amazon Prime Video's Reacherseason 4 is undergoing a major casting change just days after filming in Philadelphia. Production for Reacher season 4 began earlier this month, soon after series lead Alan Ritchson confirmed which Jack Reacher novel would be tapped for the latest TV adaptation. As an anthology series with nearly 30 books to choose from, Reacher follows its elite ex-military titular protagonist as he travels around the country with only the contents in his pockets, getting involved in various conspiracies, revenge stories, and the like.

Per Deadline, Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette has replaced Jay Baruchel as Reacher season 4's new supporting character, Jacob Merrick. Baruchel reportedly left the production to "attend to a personal matter." Rodriguez-Marquette is best known for his role as Chris Lucado in HBO's Emmy-winning dark comedy series Barry. He joins a Reacher season 4 cast led by recurring stars Alan Ritchson and Maria Sten, and a new slate of supporting actors that includes Sydelle Noel,...

Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette Joins ‘Reacher’ Season 4 In Recasting
Image
Exclusive: Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette (Barry) has joined Reacher Season 4 opposite Alan Ritchson in a recasting, Deadline has learned.

Rodriguez-Marquette will play Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman. He takes over the role — which is said to be a meaty one this season — from Jay Baruchel, who was forced to exit the series to attend to a personal matter. Baruchel had only been announced as joining the cast a couple of weeks ago.

Sources said that part of what was notable about the experience for Rodriguez-Marquette is that he was cast the same day the breakdown for the role went out, and was flown out to set within a couple of days.

Created by Nick Santora, who also writes, execs produces and serves as showrunner, Reacher is based on the novels by Lee Child. The fourth season of the dramatic actioner adapts the 13th book in the global bestselling series, Gone Tomorrow. When...

Alan Ritchson confirms which Lee Child book will inspire Reacher season 4
Image
Reacher season 4 is heading to New York City, and it looks like the Prime Video show is adapting Gone Tomorrow. Alan Ritchson recently posted a selfie on Instagram of him holding a copy of Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow.

The TV show hasn’t followed Lee Child’s books chronologically. It started with the Reacher novel Killing Floor, then leapt ahead to the 11th book in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble. Season 3 then jumped back to book 7, Persuader. The team seem to be picking the more action-packed books rather than following the strict timeline.

The author admits that the books are written in a way that means you don’t need to read in order. "I want them to be able to read that as equal to any other book in the series," he told Men's Journal earlier this year. So, it doesn’t matter than the fourth season is the 13th book.

It was recently confirmed that Season 4 of Prime Video’s hit action-thriller Reacher will adapt Gone Tomorrow, the 13th installment in Lee Child’s bestselling Jack Reacher novel series; and now, a wave of new casting news has arrived.

According to Deadline, several actors have joined the upcoming season. 'Reacher' Season 4 Adds Jay Baruchel, Agnez Mo, and Many More
Image
Prime Video's hit action series, Reacher, has already been teased as its "best season yet" by star, Alan Ritchson. The popular character — previously played by none other than Tom Cruise himself — has been a mainstay in film and television since the first adaptation of author Lee Child's creation back in 2012. But it is perhaps the TV series that gets the story of the toughest army man the United States has ever seen; so much so that the series is even getting its own spinoff. And in its upcoming fourth season, the cast is getting as metaphorically jacked as its star.

According to a press release sent out by the Amazon streaming channel, the fourth season of the action-packed drama series is jam-packed with actors you know and love. Based on the 13th book in Lee Child’s hit global novel series, Gone Tomorrow, the season's official logline is as...

Ahead of Season 4, 'Reacher's Alan Ritchson Admits One Detail Made Him "Cheer Out Loud"
Image
Jack Reacher may be stoic, but Alan Ritchson? Not so much. In fact, when the Reacher star came across a single line in the early Lee Childnovels about the legendary loner’s thinning hair, he says he “cheered out loud.” Why? Because it meant one thing: longevity. “There’s no pressure here to like, maintain my youth as we go through this, so I don't care,” Ritchson told Empire. “I’ll keep shooting as long as people will have me.”

With Reacher Season 4 officially adapting Gone Tomorrow — the 13th book in Child’s bestselling series — that “as long as people will have me” is looking like a pretty long time.

Amazon has confirmed that Gone Tomorrow will serve as the blueprint for Season 4, continuing the tradition of adapting one Reacher novel per season. This time, the story begins with a tragic encounter on a New York City subway and spirals...

From Grammy Nominated Hip Hop Artist To Indie Filmmaker With ‘Paradise Records’: The Rise Of Logic – Crew Call Podcast
Image
On today’s Crew Call we sit down with Logic aka Sir Robert Bryson Hall II (Sir is reportedly part of his birth name) who rose from the hard-scrabbled environs of Gaithersburg, Maryland from a family wrestling with crime and addiction to become a multi-platinum rapper with albums such as 2014’s “Under Pressure” and 2015’s “The Incredible True Story”.

Despite selling out arenas, and raking in millions, Logic had to scratch that itch for filmmaking. In fact his younger self became passionate about cinema and hip hop after watching Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 Kill Bill: Vol. 1; that movie’s scored produced by RZA, a member of Wu-Tang Clan. (The title of Logic’s seventh mixtape “Bobby Tarantino III” in 2021 is a nod to the Pulp Fiction director).

Poker Face season 2 showrunner Tony Tost explains Steve Buscemi's character and the dynamic he shares with Charlie. Created by Rian Johnson, the Peacock crime comedy show stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a woman with the ability to detect when others are lying who travels from place to place, investigating crimes. In Poker Face season 2, which has been met with positive reviews since its three-episode premiere on May 8, Buscemi plays a voice-only role as a trucker known only as "Good Buddy," who Charlie speaks with over the Cb radio in her car.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Tost dives deeper into Good Buddy and his role in the larger Poker Face season 2, confirming that the character won't end up being a major part of any storyline moving forward. Instead, the showrunner explains, viewers should think of Good Buddy as more of a reassuring constant in Charlie's life. Check...

Natasha Lyonne is back on the road for Season 2 of Poker Face, and she brought a few old friends along for the ride.

While discussing the star-studded guest roster of the Peacock show’s sophomore season, the first three episodes available to stream May 8, the actress admitted to Deadline that she wasn’t entirely sure if she’d previously worked with ‘The Sleazy Georgian’ actor John Cho.

Poker Face Season 2 TV Review: Natasha Lyonne and Rian Johnson reunite for more mystery-of-the-week shenanigans
Image
Plot: Poker Face is a mystery-of-the-week series following Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.

Review: While Rian Johnson revived the whodunit on the big screen with Knives Out and the Netflix sequel Glass Onion, his charmingly retro small-screen series Poker Face has truly proven its worth in the tried-and-true genre. Echoing classic shows like Columbo and The Rockford Files, Poker Face‘s first season centered on Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne), who solved mysteries while on the run from gangsters looking to kill her. The overarching narrative of the first season was engaging, but the standalone mysteries boasting famous guest stars turned Poker Face into must-watch programming. After a two-year wait, Poker Face is back with another ten mysteries,...

3 Underrated Movies Streaming on Max Right Now
Image
Sometimes, it is possible to have too many options.

That is especially true of the current streaming age when there are multiple streaming services with impressive, immense film libraries and algorithms that are all pointing you in different directions but none making it particularly easy for you to actually pick something to watch. Buried in every streaming platform’s library are also underrated titles that are rarely promoted by them and, therefore, frustratingly difficult to find.

It’s for all of those reasons and more that TheWrap has picked out three underrated and forgotten films that are streaming right now on Max that you should consider watching this weekend.

“Unstoppable” (20th Century Fox) “Unstoppable” (2010)

10 Guy Pearce Movies Which Were Good but Failed at the Box Office
Image
Not every great movie gets the love it deserves. A box office flop, however, doesn’t always mean the film is bad – or that it did not recover some money, at least. Guy Pearce knows this better than most.

While he’s delivered memorable performances in everything from classics like Memento to blockbusters like Iron Man 3, many of his best films have flopped commercially. For all his ability to disappear into complex roles, here’s a countdown of ten Guy Pearce films that, despite their box office misfortune, deserve your attention.

10. The Time Machine (2002)

In this adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel, Guy Pearce plays Alexander Hartdegen, a brilliant inventor who builds a time machine to save his fiancée, Emma, after a terrible tragedy.

A still from the film | Credits: Warner Bros.

His journey takes him 800,000 years into the future, where humanity has split into two races – the peaceful Eloi and the underground-dwelling Morlocks.

Hulu’s Binge-Worthy ‘Deli Boys’ Is a Chaotic Crime Caper: Review
Image
There is a rich tradition of crime meets comedy — in television, in film, and even in other countries. From “Ocean’s Eleven” to “The Nice Guys” and “The Afterparty” on Apple TV+, it’s always fun to imagine the gritty underworld filled with hilarious characters that don’t belong there. In India, Hindi movies like “Andaz Apna Apna” and “Hera Pheri” and “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro” scratch the same itch, infusing life-or-death stakes of illegal activity with good old-fashioned hijinks. It’s the spirit alive and well in “Deli Boys,” the 10-episode Hulu debut now available to stream.

Created by Abdullah Saeed, “Deli Boys” follows brothers Raj (Saagar Shaikh) and Mir (Asif Ali) after the sudden death of their father (Iqbal Theba) when they inherit a family business that couldn’t be further from what they imagined. The body is barely cold before they’re enveloped in a world of drugs and murder,...
