Documentarian Amy Berg Obsessed Over Jeff Buckley for Decades — Then She Finally Got to Make a Film About Him
Image
Los Angeles music obsessive Amy Berg still remembers what it was like to be a Jeff Buckley fan back in her twenties. “Grace” “changed my life,” she told me during a recent interview. “I would see every single heavy grunge punk band that came through Los Angeles: I was at Nirvana’s first show in L.A. at Jabberjaw. When I heard this album, it settled me. It was Ok to be in your body, but Jeff made it all Ok to feel.”

“It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley,” the latest documentary from Berg, is not as dark as her exposés “Deliver Us from Evil” (2006), “West of Memphis” (2012), and “An Open Secret” (2014), or her definitive Janis Joplin portrait, “Janis: Little Girl Blue” (2015).

Mostly, it’s a celebration of Buckley’s life and music, primarily the only album he ever released, “Grace,” in 1994, lauded by David Bowie as one of ten...

Matt Cameron Breaks Down the Drumming on Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” for Drumeo: Watch
Image
Matt Cameron has been a staple of Drumeo‘s video feature content, and now the drummer has shared a breakdown of his memorable kit-work on Soundgarden‘s “Rusty Cage.”

Cameron’s drumming is vital to the standout cut from Badmotorfinger, and one of his most difficult parts comes right at the beginning during the intro — a propulsive barrage of fills that seemingly comes out of nowhere. As Cameron explained, Chris Cornell instructed Cameron to come in during this part.

“That was strictly a ‘feel’ thing,” explained Cameron, who essentially has to come in without any obvious musical cues — always a challenge for the rhythm section.

From there, the drummer settles into the song’s uptempo stoner-rock grooves, adding decisive accentuations and cymbal crashes.

“The verse where Chris sings ‘I wanna break,’ I gave him a little crash cymbal right there: ‘I wanna break‘ — boom,” Cameron explained. “And it’s broken.

King Ultramega Cover Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” in Tribute to Chris Cornell
Image
A new collective dubbed King Ultramega are paying tribute to Chris Cornell with a series of cover songs honoring the late singer. The first single is a cover of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” featuring Alice in Chains singer William DuVall, Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher, and Anthrax/Pantera drummer Charlie Benante, along with the project’s driving force, Mark Menghi (Metal Allegiance), on bass.

Future singles in the series will feature different musicians, among them Joe Satriani, Alissa White-Gluz, Kenny Aronoff, and Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil. The songs will span Cornell’s entire career, including Soundgarden, Audioslave, and his solo work, each raising funds and awareness for MusiCares.

The cover of “Rusty Cage” is a faithful rendition of the single from Soundgarden’s 1991 album Badmotorfinger. It was actually recorded during the pandemic and posted on social media in October 2020, and is now being officially released for the first time, featuring a new mix by Josh Wilbur,...

Soundgarden Issue Statement Regarding Absence from Final Black Sabbath Concert
Image
The surviving members of Soundgarden were among those slated to perform during Black Sabbath’s historic “Back to the Beginning” farewell concert, but they were noticeably absent from the festivities on July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.

The grunge legends have now issued a social media statement regarding their absence, explaining that scheduling conflicts prevented them from taking the stage that day.

Via the remaining band members’ Nudedragons Instagram account, the statement read:

“Congratulations to Black Sabbath on the grand and final pealing of their vesper bells!

Thank you for an astounding career that provided us and your legion of fans with a lifetime of beauty, horror, love, power, happiness, melancholy and a profoundly sublime, yet viscerally rocking transcendence informed by both doom and hope. Your majestic brilliance has inspired greatness in scores of other bands, musicians and songwriters. However, the crown will forever remain yours!

We are very grateful to Tony,...

Chris Cornell’s Daughter Toni Shares Moving Cover of “God Only Knows” in Tribute to Brian Wilson
Image
Toni Cornell, daughter of the late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell, has paid tribute to the late Brian Wilson with a moving cover of The Beach Boys’ classic “God Only Knows.”

In the studio recording, Cornell’s tender vocals rise above the minimalist backing of acoustic guitar and tambourine. Listen to the track below.

“For Brian Wilson,” the 20-year-old singer wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “Thank you for writing one of the most beautiful songs ever.”

News of Wilson’s passing at the age of 82 was announced by his children on June 11th. Tributes poured in from musicians around the world, including from his bandmates Mike Love and Al Jardine, as well as Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen.

Cornell’s cover of “God Only Knows” follows Sting’s own rendition of the song, and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong also unearthed a previously...

Drummer Matt Cameron Leaves Pearl Jam After 27 Years: “It’s Been An Incredible Journey”
Image
The beat won’t go on for Matt Cameron in Pearl Jam. The megaplatinum band’s drummer — a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, said on social media today that he has “taken my final steps down from the drum riser” and has left the group.

“Much love and respect to Jeff, Ed, Mike and Stone for inviting me into the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, filled with friendships, artistry, challenges and laughter,” he posted on Instagram (see if below). “I am forever grateful to the crew, staff and fans the world over. It’s been an incredible journey. More to follow.”

In the same post, his 27-year bandmates wrote: “From being one of our first musical heroes in the bands Skinyard and the mighty Soundgarden, to playing on our first demos in 1990, Matt Cameron has been a singular and true powerhouse of a musician and drummer.

Contestant on The Voice Gets Polarizing Reaction to Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”: Watch
Image
A contestant on The Voice named Lucia Flores-Wiseman put a jazzy twist on the Soundgarden classic “Black Hole Sun” on Monday night (May 12th), eliciting a polarizing reaction from viewers.

Flores-Wiseman sang the first couple lines of the song a capella in a very stylized vocal reminiscent of Amy Winehouse or Billie Holiday. She continued singing the iconic grunge tune as a minimal string section kicked in, and eventually belted out the song over a heavier orchestral arrangement.

She received praise from her coach, Adam Levine, as well as another Voice coach, Kelsea Ballerini, who called Flores-Wiseman “a star.” However, the commentary on the official YouTube post of her performance is quite divided.

One person wrote, “Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I can’t understand a single word she’s singing. Like she’s good, don’t get me wrong, but she kind of sounds like she’s singing in cursive?...

Guitarist Kim Thayil on Soundgarden’s Hall of Fame Induction: ‘Chris Cornell Would Be Proud’
Image
Soundgarden are seen as a quintessential Nineties band, but they actually formed in 1984, and started releasing music three years later. That means they’ve been eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2012. Fans started giving up hope after they appeared on two ballots prior to this year, and failed to get in. That made it even more joyous when the Seattle group finally made the cut this year alongside the White Stripes, OutKast, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Salt-n-Pepa, Warren Zevon, and Cyndi Lauper.

Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil Thinks Chris Cornell Would “Definitely Be Stoked” About Rock Hall Induction
Image
Soundgarden are one of nine new additions to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, and founding guitarist Kim Thayil feels that the late Chris Cornell would “definitely be stoked” about their imminent induction.

In a new interview with Billboard, the guitarist and songwriter expressed plenty of gratitude towards the Rock Hall and the band’s fans for recognizing their impact after all these years. According to Thayil, Cornell would be just as proud. “He’s the one who convinced me how appreciative the fans and our peers and the Soundgarden community — that includes the people that we work with and work for us — would be about it,” said Thayil.

“He realized how important that was, and he understood that would be important to us because it’s important to people who cared about us and helped us and supported us all along. That’s how I believe Chris would respond to this.

Who Owns James Bond? The Story Behind 007’s Rights Explained
Image
You Know My Name, sang Chris Cornell, and if there’s one name the world has never had to Google twice, it’s James Bond. The man has not just shaken; he’s stirred generations — suave in a tux, lethal with a Walther, and complex enough to make Freud sweat. But while Bond’s martinis have stayed ice cold, the battle over who actually owns him has been hotter than a jalapeño in July.

Since Ian Fleming birthed 007 in ink and espionage, the rights have ping-ponged between studios like a casino chip in Macau. Everyone wants a piece of the Bond pie — MGM, Eon, and United Artists. The spy may be immortal, but the studios? Not so much. Everyone’s wanted to babysit Bond — some just borrowed him, others clung on like a bad cold.

So, who really owns 007? Time to peel back the tux and read between the bullet holes.

The Heavy Metal Ties That Bind: Singer Encourages Israeli Hostage to “Hold on to Memories” (Guest Column)
Image
[Trigger warning: This guest column contains disturbing descriptions of violence.]

I never in my life thought I’d care as much about someone else’s children as my own.

I’ve been following the tragedy of parents Yarden and Shiri Bibas, and their ginger-haired babies Ariel and Kfir, since it began on Oct. 7, 2023. In that time, I’ve been praying and hoping against hope that there would be some sign of life, something we can hold on to, to at least convince ourselves and still believe that they have a chance.

Two weeks ago, when the bodies of Shiri, 4-year-old Ariel and 9-month-old Kfir, were returned from captivity in Gaza and laid to rest, the massive funeral was regarded as one of saddest days in the history of the people of Israel. I got notified by Ari Ingel of the organization Creative Community for Peace that the father, sole captivity survivor Yarden, was a fan of my band and that...

Jimmy Carter makes history with posthumous Grammy
Image
Just over a month after his death on Dec. 29, 2024, at age 100, Jimmy Carter won a posthumous Grammy for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording for Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration. He defeated Barbra Streisand (My Name Is Barbra), Dolly Parton (Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones), producer Guy Oldfield (All You Need Is Love: The Beatles in Their Own Words), and George Clinton (…And Your Ass Will Follow). It was Carter’s fourth victory after a storied post-presidential career, the longest of any former president in U.S. history.

Carter’s one term in office was beset by challenges including economic stress, an energy crisis, and the Iran hostage crisis, the last of which largely contributed to his failure to secure a second term in the White House. He was defeated by Ronald Reagan in 1980 and left office in 1981, after which Carter focused on humanitarian work,...

Jeff Buckley Doc Reveals Why a Biopic Starring Brad Pitt Was Nixed by the Musician’s Mom: ‘You’re Going to Open Your Mouth and Jeff’s Voice Is Going to Come Out?’
Image
For more than two decades, filmmakers chased the lightning-in-a-bottle story of Jeff Buckley, one of the most gifted and promising musicians of his generation, who drowned in a Memphis river in May 1997 at the age of 30.

Back in 2000, Brad Pitt courted Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, inviting her to lunch at his Los Feliz home and adding her to the VIP guest list for his wedding to Jennifer Aniston. It didn’t require much arm-twisting before she granted the actor permission to make a biopic about her son, the tortured singer-songwriter who is best known for performing the greatest version ever of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

“If there’s 20 people calling you, and Brad Pitt is one of them, who are you gonna pick to go see?” Guibert says with a laugh.

But Guibert was skeptical about the idea of Pitt, or any actor for that matter, tackling the role of her only child.

The Only James Bond Theme Songs To Win At The Oscars
Image
Adele is one of the most accomplished singers of her generation. In addition to being one of the world's best-selling musicians, she's won 16 Grammys, 18 Billboard Music Awards, 12 Brit Awards, five American Music Awards, and among her other accolades, her "Skyfall" theme got James Bond an Oscar.

James Bond movies have followed a winning formula that's kept 007 on movie screens for 60+ plus years, and that formula follows a few trademarks: Beautiful women, super-villain lairs with death traps, lots of guns, terrible puns, etc. Before the adventure truly kicks off, though, Bond films must have a lavish title sequence with a custom-composed song.

The first two Bond films, "Dr. No" and "From Russia With Love," actually used instrumental openings. Then for the third (and some say best) Bond film, "Goldfinger," the theme song had lyrics -- written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, and sung by Shirley Bassey. "Goldfinger" the song is...

One Of Tom Cruise's Most Beautiful Scenes Took 2 Months Of Preparation (& It Was All Wasted)
Image
Tom Cruise is renowned for his intense training for stunts that wow on the big screen, but his movie Collateral taught him and director Michael Mann that even the most meticulous preparation can all be for naught. Collateral is an excellent and underrated entry in the filmographies of Cruise and costar Jamie Foxx, and one of the few in which Cruise plays a straight-up villain. In Collateral, Cruise's hitman, Vincent, hires Foxx's cabbie, Max, to drive him around Los Angeles from job to job. As the story unfolds, leading to Collateral's cathartic ending, Michael Mann's trademark tension increases.

Also a trademark of Michael Mann movies is the occasional surreal scene that's loaded with symbolism, even among the action and high stakes, which often unfold at night in moody, beautifully lit shots set to standout tracks. Few modern directors do crime movies with the panache and layered meaning of Mann,...

Surviving Soundgarden Members Reunite for Seattle Benefit Concert: Watch
Image
The three surviving members of Soundgarden reunited on Saturday night (December 14th) to perform at the SMooCH benefit concert to raise money for Seattle Children’s Hospital. Guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron, and bassist Ben Shepherd were fronted by singer Shaina Shepherd for the six-song set at the Showbox, with Duff McKagan joining in on a couple of tunes.

The Soundgarden members’ performance was only announced 10 days ago, as they joined a lineup that already included McKagan, Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch, and Sebadoh (first show in five years). They were billed as Nudedragons (an anagram of Soundgarden).

The six-song performance was mostly comprised of tunes from Soundgarden’s early releases, including “Flower” and “Beyond the Wheel” from debut album Ultramega Ok; “Hunted Down” from the Screaming Life EP; Badmotoringer‘s “Outshined”; and Superunknown‘s “Kickstand,” featuring additional vocals from McKagan. The Guns N’ Roses bassist also stuck...

Surviving Soundgarden Members Reuniting for Seattle Benefit Concert
Image
Surviving Soundgarden members Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd are reuniting to perform under the moniker Nudedragons at the Showbox in Seattle on December 14th.

The three musicians will be joined by singer Shaina Shepherd at the 13th annual SMooCH concert benefiting Seattle Children’s Hospital’s uncompensated care fund. Their appearance is described on the SMooCH website as being a “brief encore performance.”

Nudedragons is an anagram for Soundgarden. The band used that same moniker when they reunited in 2010 to play the Showbox for their first show since 1997.

Since the tragic passing of singer Chris Cornell in 2017, the three surviving Soundgarden members have only performed together a couple of times. Once during a Cornell tribute show in 2019, and again in 2021 when they backed up Brandi Carlile for “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching With My Good Eye Closed” at the Gorge Amphitheatre.

Additionally, Cameron and Thayil have performed with...

Pearl Jam wrapped up their 2024 world tour Saturday evening at Engie Stadium in Sydney, Australia. The 27-song set touched on all eras of their career, including six selections from their 1991 debut Ten and four songs from the new LP Dark Matter. They also covered the Who’s Baba O’Riley and Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender,” which they dedicated to Springsteen in the aftermath of a fairly disappointing election back home in America.

Near the end of the main set, Vedder thanked the crowd. “You have great voices here,” he said.

Pearl Jam Cover Temple of the Dog’s “Hunter Strike” For First Time in 10 Years: Watch
Image
Pearl Jam covered Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” for the first time in a decade during a concert in Sydney, Australia on Saturday.

The band had last covered the song live in October 2014 at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit, teaming up with Temple of the Dog’s late frontman Chris Cornell. Cornell passed away in 2017, and the band hand’t played the song live since then.

Saturday’s show in Sydney marked the final date on Pearl Jam’s 2024 tour. Elsewhere in the set, frontman Eddie Vedder covered Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender” for the first time since 2006.

It was an eventful tour for Pearl Jam, who hit the road in support of their 2024 album, Dark Matter. They shared the stage with Bradley Cooper, covered Nine Inch Nails, trolled Ted Nugent, and were bribed by a fan into letting him join them on stage for “Yellow Ledbetter.

Chris Cornell’s Daughter Toni Releases First Single “Sunset of Your Love”: Stream
Image
Last week, Toni Cornell, daughter of the late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell, teased the release of her debut single. Today she has made good on that promise, dropping the song “Sunset of Your Love.”

Taking from both Lana Del Rey-esque baroque pop and the rock music her father was known for, “Sunset of Your Love” is a dramatic first taste of Toni’s original songwriting. There are wailing guitars, huge synth drops, a sequenced beat, and an impressive lead vocal performance. Listen to it below.

Though, technically, “Sunset of Your Love” isn’t the first track from Toni. Back in 2019, she shared a tune called “Far Away Places.”

In addition to her two original songs, Toni has performed several covers. She’s tackled Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike,” Pearl Jam’s “Black,” Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” and Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Notably, the latter...

Smith/Kotzen Announce New Album, Unveil Single “White Noise”: Stream
Image
Smith/Kotzen, featuring Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith and The Winery Dogs’ Richie Kotzen, have announced their sophomore album, Black Light / White Noise, arriving March 7th.

The duo also offered up the lead single “White Noise,” a gritty hard rocker that lets the duo unleash its talents. Both Smith and Kotzen are skilled singers and split vocal duties — Smith with his clean and sultry delivery that is a nice foil for Kotzen’s high register pipes, which reach Chris Cornell-level heights here. And considering both are guitarists by trade, the axework is pristine throughout.

“The song is about the rise of social media, how people get addicted to it, the power of it and how we get bombarded with it 24/7,” said Smith of the lyrics in a press release.

Added Kotzen on the song’s origins: “It was actually a riff Adrian brought in. I then immediately started improvising...

Toni Cornell, the 20-year-old daughter of late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell, has announced she is releasing her debut single, “Sunset of Your Love,” on November 21st.

In the caption of an Instagram post announcing “Sunset of Your Love,” Toni revealed the song was written with Mozella and produced by Dave Hamelin. The latter worked on Beyoncé’s Grammy-nominated “16 Carriages.” Pre-saves are ongoing.

The post also features a preview of the pop-rock track, which features lyrics like, “All I know is I’m not ready/ ‘Til you find me/ I’ll be waiting in the sunset of your love.” Check it out below.

Technically, “Sunset of Your Love” isn’t the first song Toni has released. Back in 2019, she shared a track called “Far Away Places.”

Over the past several years, Toni has performed several covers, including Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike,” Pearl Jam’s “Black,” Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,...

The former Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist revealed the song’s existence in an episode of the Eddie Trunk Podcast last week. Morello said the two spent several hours in a studio session, about “five or six years ago.”

Chris Cornell’s Daughter Blasts TMZ for Liam Payne Death Photos: “Indescribably Traumatizing”
Image
Chris Cornell’s 20-year-old daughter Toni has criticized TMZ for posting photos depicting the death scene of former One Direction member Liam Payne, comparing it to the outlet’s coverage of her own father’s passing in 2017.

Following Payne’s death on October 17th, TMZ initially published a purported photo of Payne’s arm and waist after his fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, identifying the singer with his tattoos. While the outlet removed the image after receiving widespread criticism, that came too late for Toni Cornell, who took to her Instagram Stories to voice her disgust with TMZ’s decision to post the image in the first place.

Toni wrote the following on her Instagram Stories:

“In the wake of Liam Payne’s tragic passing, I feel compelled to speak out about the disgusting, distressing photos released by TMZ including graphic images of his hotel room and body.

“In the wake of Liam Payne’s tragic passing, I feel compelled to speak out about the disgusting, distressing photos released by TMZ including graphic images of his hotel room and body,” Cornell wrote on Instagram Stories, per NME. “Having seen those photos, I can’t help but reflect on my own experience when graphic images of my father...

Hear Heavy Soundgarden Deep Cut Transformed Into Cinematic Ballad by Lizzie Weber
Image
One of the most unusual songs Soundgarden recorded was “Head Down” — a deep cut on their biggest-selling album, 1994’s Superunknown — that tumbles slowly over six minutes, adding crusts of snaky guitar and ear-twisting vocal harmonies until it settles as a clatter of percussion. Bassist Ben Shepherd wrote the song, but it was Chris Cornell who pushed the limits of his voice into the upper strata to sing Shepherd’s lyrics about cloaking depression in a smile. “We see you cry, we turn your head,” he sings like an onlooker to his own strife,...

Alex Van Halen: Ozzy Osbourne and Chris Cornell Were in Running to Front Van Halen
Image
At different times when Van Halen were in between singers, Ozzy Osbourne and Chris Cornell were each in the running to front the legendary rock band. The revelation comes courtesy of Alex Van Halen’s first interview since the 2020 passing of his brother Eddie Van Halen.

While speaking with Rolling Stone to promote his new memoir, Brothers, set for release on October 22nd, Alex revealed that, on each occasion, Van Halen were deep in the process of working with Osbourne and Cornell.

Osbourne was approached in 2001, after Gary Cherone’s tenure in Van Halen ended in 1999, and prior to Sammy Hagar’s return in 2003. Alex said that he and Eddie sat down with Sharon Osbourne to discuss an Ozzy-fronted Van Halen album, but the plans fell apart upon the launch of MTV’s The Osbournes reality show.

“When you get a dog, you don’t expect it to be a cat,...

Daniel Craig's James Bond Era Couldn't Have Happened Without Another 007 Movie's Failure
Image
Pierce Brosnan's last James Bond movie, Die Another Day, was a box-office bomb and a disappointing farewell, but without it we never would have got Daniel Craig's new iteration of the character. It has been argued by many commentators that Brosnan's James Bond movies had potential but never did him justice. Brosnan's first 007 movie, GoldenEye, was rated 80% positive on Rotten Tomatoes, and virtually every aspect was praised, setting the bar high. While Brosnan's next two Bond movies were considered middling entries, Die Another Day was described as ludicrous on a different level, prompting a total James Bond reboot.

Casino Royale's black and white opening scene reset James Bond for the Daniel Craig era.

When Daniel Craig was announced as the seventh actor to play James Bond, there was initial backlash. The most minor complaints rejected a "blond Bond", while the more credible pointed out that Craig...

How Kid Rock Went From America’s Favorite Hard-Partying Rock Star to a Maga Mouthpiece
Image
When You Visit Bob Ritchie at his home in the jagged hills outside Nashville, the guy who will likely greet you at the door is a tall, well-dressed, exceedingly polite gentleman who goes by “Uncle Tom.” Because of course he does. Ritchie makes his living as Kid Rock, but a big part of being Kid Rock these days involves doing things that are simultaneously provocative, offensive, and, at least to him, funny. It tracks, then, that a middle-aged white guy who began his career more than three decades ago in...

If you ask Ann Wilson what her favorite Led Zeppelin song is, she’ll answer right away: “The Rain Song.” And if you ask her what led to her first tour in five years with her sister Nancy, she’s just as honest.

“We just got really tired of not playing together, and we both wanted to do a Heart tour,” Ann, 73, tells me. “So then there is this question hanging in the air: Can Heart be Heart without Ann or can Heart be Heart without Nancy? It never could.

Mike McCready: Pearl Jam’s New Album is “Heavier Than You’d Expect”
Image
Mike McCready has provided an update on what’s next from Pearl Jam, assuring fans that their forthcoming album — produced by Andrew Watt — will be “a lot heavier than you’d expect.”

The guitarist offered some details about the album in a recent interview with Classic Rock, and although it’s yet to be announced, it sounds like the LP is just about complete: “I’m hoping it’s gonna come out [in 2024],” McCready said. “We have a bunch of songs tracked. We worked with Andrew Watt, who’s a younger pop producer-type guy, but he’s really a rock guy at heart — I think we’re his favorite band. When we were in the studio with him this past year, he really kicked our asses, got us focused and playing, song after song.”

Though Watt has worked with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and Lana Del Rey, our...

In an interview with Guitar World, the musician said the project is inspired by and honors the late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, who was also McCready’s bandmate in the supergroup Temple of the Dog.

“I look at him as one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time, aside from being a friend,” McCready said about Cornell. “I love Chris and I’m working on a little project about the Seattle scene and a musical kind of rock opera thing. It’s just from my experience in the Seattle music scene, and he’s part of it.”

Taylor Momsen Explains ‘Gossip Girl’ Exit on Penn Badgley’s Podcast, Details Pain and Darkness After Best Friend’s Death: It ‘Almost Killed Me’
Image
Break out your headbands, Upper East Siders and Jenny Humphrey stans. Taylor Momsen reunited with “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley for the first time since the 2012 series finale of The CW teen drama, appearing on the Sept. 6 episode of “Podcrushed,” Badgley’s SiriusXM podcast with Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari.

During the hour-long episode, the pair reminisced about their time on “Gossip Girl” together; Badgley portrayed Dan Humphrey, while Momsen played his little sister, Jenny, for four seasons. She was just 12 years old when the pilot was shot, and says she didn’t really want to leave her middle school friends — but was “convinced” to do it.

“Larger powers than me came down and went, ‘This is a great opportunity,'” Momsen, now 30, said during the episode, which was recorded before the SAG-AFTRA strike. It was then, filming the show, that she really leaned into music. “That’s where...
