Ron Howard has a pretty busy day job: As the co-chair of Imagine, he’s constantly juggling a packed slate of projects, from features to documentaries to his own films.

Turns out he also has quite a side hustle as a cameo performer.

“People are always asking me if I want to act, and my pat answer is, 'The only way I'd make time for it in my schedule is if [my daughter] Bryce [Dallas Howard] asked me to act in something she was directing,'” he tells Gold Derby, adding with a laugh: “I think my wife, Cheryl, would start leaning on me to figure out the schedule to make that happen.”

So he has been flattered when approached over the years, though he won’t name names, especially since those parts ultimately went to others.

The Rookie star Lisseth Chavez, who plays Officer Selena Juarez in the ABC hit drama series, has teased that season 7 will contain an episode that is on the darker side. Chavez joined the show in a recurring role in The Rookie season 5, before being promoted to a main role the following year. Her character trained under John Nolan, demonstrated good instincts but unorthodox methods and encountered many disturbing experiences over the show. But things look set to get even darker and more complex in season 7.

The fifth episode of The RookieSeason 7 was relatively low-key despite some momentous developments in the story. While there was a short gunplay scene, most of the episode takes place in police vehicles and interrogation rooms. The Rookie also ended a long-running story while introducing some new storylines set to unfold over the rest of Season 7.

Due to actor Jenna Dewan's real-life pregnancy, she and he partner Steve Kazee (who plays Jason Wyler) were absent from earlier episodes, delaying the resolution of the Season 6 finale cliffhanger.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 Episode 5 “Til Death.”] Don’t mess with Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox). That’s what the latest episode of The Rookie proves. It was in Episode 4 that the LAPD discovered there’s an unidentified serial killer — while apprehending Harrison Novak (Noel Fisher) — and Nyla ended up in her own mini-horror movie; she was stabbed with a needle and temporarily paralyzed. And so when she returns to work in Episode 5, she’s very determined to find who was responsible. “After having something so traumatic happen to her, she is now jolted into action,” Cox explains on TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow. Nyla trusts her gut when it tells her that the man they think could be responsible for the killings isn’t and instead, it’s Liam (Seth Gabel), whose vending machine company supplies the hospital they were investigating when she was attacked.

It sure didn’t take time for Detective Harper to find her footing after her traumatic serial killer scare in the fourth episode of “The Rookie” Season 7, which left the seasoned detective temporarily paralyzed and truly rattled for the first time in a long time.

But the fifth episode of Season 7, titled “Til Death,” found Nyla back on her game in a big way, doggedly pursuing the serial killer, and embracing some of her undercover training to charm and disarm her suspect.

“I think what’s kind of fun is that she comes in and she’s almost flirty with him,” Cox told TheWrap of the cat-and-mouse dynamic between Nyla and her suspect. “Fringe” and “Big Sky” actor Seth Gabel steps in as the vending machine supplier, Glasser, who catches Nyla’s eye as the prime suspect during her investigation.

Ahead of Season 7, The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley assured TVLine that fresh drama was headed Detective Nyla Harper’s way.

Well, as you may have surmised coming out of the latest episode, which left Nyla temporarily paralyzed, “We are at that point,” cast member Mekia Cox declares. “Very much so.”

And Cox was very much ready for it.

Currently in its fourth episode, The Rookie Season 7 promises the appearance of a fan-favorite star in a guest role in next week’s episode. TVLine can confirm that Seth Gabel, who portrayed agent Lincoln Lee on Fox’s sci-fi series Fringe will put on his creepy suit once again to feature in the “Til Death” episode of The Rookie. The actor is set to appear midway through the installment to kick off a multiple-episode arc as a vending machine supplier and person of interest named Glasser.

All My Children alum Esta TerBlanche’s cause of death has been revealed, just over six months after she died last July.

According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner, as reported by TMZ, TerBlanche died of an intracranial hemorrhage, also known as a brain bleed. The medical examiner’s office believes TerBlanche likely suffered a ground-level fall in her home, where she had initially been found unresponsive, and her death has thus been ruled an accident.

Seth Gabel is reaching back into his bag of creepy tricks for an upcoming arc on ABC’s The Rookie.

In the new season’s fifth episode, titled “Til Death” and airing Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 10/9c, the team searches for a second serial killer as Nyla struggles with the aftermath of being attacked/injected with a paralytic, as she and Angela investigated the abandoned building next to a psychiatric hospital. The trailer revealed that “Real Housewives” alum Lisa Rinna will star in the “Tapeworm” episode of Season 3, which premieres Oct. 26. The official logline for that installment reads, “An up-and-coming model will stop at nothing in her hunger for success.” The episode was written by Joe Baken and directed by Alexis Martin Woodall.

“Smize for the camera, sweetie,” Rinna’s character says in the trailer. She later responds to a young patient’s concern about a monster inside of her with the question, “But are you hungry?”

Alongside Rinna, the “Tapeworm” cast includes Laura Kariuki, Hazel Graye and Rob Yang.

From the trailer, it looks like Yang prescribes Kariuki’s model a tapeworm to help her lose weight for her modeling career.

The one-minute trailer for FX’s special American Horror Stories Huluween event provides a freaky first look at the four-episode event. The trailer’s release was accompanied by additional details on the four episodes – “Bestie,” “Daphne,” “Tapeworm,” and “Organ” – including cast info and brief synopses.

“Bestie” involves a young woman who seeks connection with a mysterious online friend following the loss of her mother. Max Winkler directed from a script by Joe Baken, and Emma Halleen, Seth Gabel, Jessica Barden, Jeff Hiller, and Amrou Al-Kadhi star.

On today’s episode of Crew Call we talk with The Mandalorian EP and director of season 3 episodes one, seven and eight, Rick Famuyiwa.

Like the Westerns that Star Wars itself is based on, season 3 continued to dwell in that genre as it focused on Bounty Hunter Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) unification with the Mandalorians. Of note here is the redemption of the tribe’s former leader Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff). Famuyiwa says we see “what she lost and what she’s gained, in terms of the trust from her people and her own leadership.”

If you were wondering whether The Mandalorian season 3 would deliver the same number of cameos as past seasons, it’s safe to say that “Guns for Hire” has more than answered your question. The episode, which takes Din, Grogu, and Bo-Katan to the planet of Plazir-15 on a search for Mandalorians, is absolutely full of guest appearances that will take fans by surprise. The Mandalorian this week served up several “Special” guest stars, answered a big question about the Darksaber, and for good measure gave Grogu a shining moment.

“Guns for Hire,” directed by franchise vet Bryce Dallas Howard, opened by catching us up with Axe Woves, who since peacing out on Bo-Katan is now in command of Moff Gideon’s light cruiser and doing work-for-hire with Koska Reeves et al. We first see Axe pulling over a Quarren captain who had abducted a Mon Calamari prince (with whom she was having a love affair).
