After more than a decade of demonic encounters, exorcisms and box office dominance, The Conjuring franchise is preparing to close the case on its most enduring characters. The Conjuring: The Last Rites will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return for one final appearance as Ed and Lorraine Warren, bringing the curtain down on a series that has helped redefine mainstream horror since its debut in 2013.

The final trailer has dropped for the last Conjuring film, and it sees the Warrens face a familiar demon.

Following the first trailer, which was released in May, Warner Bros. released the new and final trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites on Thursday. The fourth Conjuring film follows Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they take on the Smurl case, which involved a family that was tormented by a demon for more than a decade, inspired by a true story.

But in this trailer, we find out that the demon was one the Warrens previously encountered. “There’s something in the attic. Ed, there’s an evil here. Something I’ve felt before,” Lorraine says.

“This thing in your house is a demon. It’s the first one that we’ve ever encountered,” Lorraine says to the family before later saying to Ed, “We were young. We were scared.

The fourth entry in The Conjuring series will supposedly be the last, meaning this is the last we’ll see of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as our favorite horror superheroes. Ahead of its September release, Warner Bros. has released the first official teaser to give us a taste of the final chapter in the Warrens’ cinematic journey.

Michael Chaves returns to direct The Conjuring: Last Rites, which chronicles the Warrens’ infamous Smurl case from 1986.

Ed and Lorraine Warren have one final case to crack in the iconic “The Conjuring” franchise. The paranormal investigating duo, portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, first appeared onscreen in 2013; now 12 years and a slew of spinoff films later, the original “The Conjuring” will close out with “The Conjuring: The Last Rites.”

Michael Chaves returns to direct “The Last Rites.” In total, the franchise has three “Conjuring” films, three “Annabelle” features, two “Nun” movies, and “The Curse of La Llorona.” Chaves helmed “La Llorona,” “The Nun II,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.” A “Conjuring” series is in development at Max as well.

“The Last Rites” is set in the mid-1980s when the Warrens were retired. However, the couple returns for one last case involving the Smurl family. The Warrens most famously investigated the 1976 hauntings in Amityville, New York, which inspired the “Amityville Horror” franchise.

“Discover why this case was their last.” That’s the compelling hook for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final film in the franchise starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson.

Good Deed Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to Hangdog, a comedy movie starring Desmin Borges and Kelly O’Sullivan.

Director Matt Cascella’s feature is scheduled for release via digital platforms on Oct. 25, which will be preceded by advance theatrical screenings in select cities. Rounding out the cast are Barbara Rosenblat, Steve Coulter, Catherine Curtin and rescue dog-turned-performer Mr. Tibbs.

Set in Portland, Maine, Hangdog centers on Walt (Borges), who deals with anxiety while attempting to retrieve his stolen dog before his girlfriend, Wendy (O’Sullivan), returns from a business trip.

The film earned audience awards at the Woods Hole and New Hampshire Film Festivals. It has also screened at the Provincetown International Film Festival, the Berkshire International Film Festival and the Calgary International Film Festival.

It's the scene where Vera Farmiga's Lorraine Warren is sitting by the bedside of her husband, Ed (Patrick Wilson), who has recently suffered a demon-influenced heart attack, as she recounts the story of how they first met to their friend and colleague, Father Gordon (Steve Coulter). Notably, the entire Insidious franchise has now amassed over $735M in worldwide earnings, a testament to its enduring popularity. Per Deadline, the film pulled in $2.5M from 59 overseas markets during the last weekend, bringing its international total to an impressive $101.8M, while its global collection now stands at $182.5M, ahead of M3GAN's $180.5M, as well as that of Scream VI ($169M), Evil Dead: Rise ($146.7M) and The Pope's Exorcist ($76M).
