10 Best 'Steven Spielberg Presents' Movies, Ranked
Image
"Steven Spielberg Presents" signaled something to moviegoers and TV watchers of all ages in the 1980s and 990s. It meant what we were about to watch bore the highest designation a movie could receive: Steven Spielberg's cinematic stamp of approval.  After all, this was the guy who terrified us with "Jaws," inspired us with "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," put us at the edge of our seats with "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and made us cry tears of delight at "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial," among other incredible feature films. Sure, he also bored most of us to tears with "1941," but you may feel differently about it. Point is, the dude knew how to make a crowd-pleasing movie better than anyone back in the day, so if Spielberg was willing to present something, you knew it had to be good.

Spielberg has produced a lot of movies, but we're...

10 Prequel Movies That Are Seriously Underrated
Image
Some of the most iconic prequel movies out there have been overlooked for far too long. Whether this is because of a disappointing performance at the box office or because they didn't connect with audiences as well as the original, prequels have often struggled in theaters and in terms of critical reception. It's easier for spinoffs or the best legacy movie sequels to carve out their places within the franchise, but prequels often have a more difficult time standing out. However, this also means that many prequels have been reevaluated and hailed as great works of art on their own.

The best prequel movies of all time often feel less like origin stories and more like natural continuations of the adventures of the previous films. Prequels will often strike a different tone and even break out into another genre to distinguish themselves from the movies they're based on. This ensures...

Image
Stars: Channing Tatum, Salma Hayek, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Caitlin Gerard, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, Alan Cox, Nancy Carroll, Christopher Villiers, Vicki Pepperdine | Written by Reid Carolin | Directed by Steven Soderbergh

Magic Mike’s Last Dance sees Channing Tatum and Steven Soderbergh back together to finish what they started 11 years ago. This time, however, most of the magic seems to have gone, as too has the entertainment.

After the Covid pandemic Mike (Channing Tatum) has fallen on hard times, his business has gone under and he now finds himself bartending a rich charity event. After the event, he meets Max (Salma Hayek), the hostess of said event, who needs a spark added to her life. That spark comes in the form of a dance, a dance Mike gives her that will finally give her a sense of purpose, a sense of life she hasn’t felt in years. That spark...

90 Day Fiancé: Kirlyam Cox's Weight Loss Transformation In Photos
Image
90 Day Fiancé season 1 fan-favorite Kirlyam Cox revealed her stunning weight loss progress to Instagram fans in 2023. With an eight-year age gap, Alan Cox met Kirlyam when he was on a Mormon mission to Brazil. Alan was 20 years old, and Kirlyam was 12. Their actual romance began when he went back for a friend’s wedding many years later, and the two reconnected. Alan and Kirlyam got married in September 2013, after she moved to the U.S. on a K-1 visa. In October 2017, they welcomed their first baby together, and their second was born in September 2021.

When Kirlyam first made her reality TV debut, it seemed plausible that she was using Alan to come to America. They also believed that Kirlyam wanted to become a model. It was Kirlyam’s love of fashion which prompted these sorts of assumptions, and her big eyes and endearing smile were appealing. The 90 Day Fiancé cast member is attractive.

‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ (2023) Movie Review: The Dances You’ve Come to See, Not Much More
Image
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is a movie directed by Steven Soderbergh starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek.

Good old Mike returns with his sculpted abs from the hand of the director everyone loves for this farewell, not very spectacular cinematographically, but fun and entertaining.

Storyline

Mike works as a waiter until a rich woman takes him to London to, together, form a group of male strippers.

Movie Review Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Correct, very correct and knowing that there is a certain Soderbergh in charge of the project, but as not everything can be done by the good director and “one-man band”, he has his always good partners who accompany him: this time, same as always, Channing Tatum, a very good actor for comedy, and Salma Hayek, who does a bit of everything and does everything well.

In short, a film that, with the quality of talent it possesses, could...

Box Office: ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ Tearing Off 8 Million Opening in Quiet Super Bowl Weekend
Image
Audiences are ponying up for “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” which is projected to lead a quiet Super Bowl weekend at the domestic box office.

The third “Magic Mike” entry earned roughly 4.1 million in opening day and Thursday preview screenings, with industry sources projecting a debut around 8 million. Warner Bros. itself isn’t reporting numbers.

There are a few question marks surrounding the debut of “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” which is receiving a limited release in 1,500 North American locations. Though the film was commissioned for an HBO Max release, Warner Bros. swerved to go theatrical — the studio did the same for its comedy remake “House Party” in January, which also opened in less than 2,000 theaters and has earned a slim 8.8 million.

While “Last Dance” is making a bigger splash than “House Party,” it’ll finish with an opening down from its 2012 original (39.1 million) and 2015 sequel “Magic Mike Xxl”. Critical consensus is...

‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ Review: Steven Soderbergh Strips Series of Everything but Channing Tatum
Image
“Toothless” probably isn’t the first word “Magic Mike” fans want to associate with Channing Tatum’s aging exotic dancer series, but there’s no denying the female-targeting franchise has dulled its bite over the past decade. If the Walt Disney Co. had made a movie about male strippers, it might look something like “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” a soft, in-name-only sequel to the 2012 hit, whose title is about as convincing as reports of director Steven Soderbergh’s retirement.

Tatum’s still got it, and he ain’t about to retire, even if his semi-autobiographical hero, Mike Lane, has lost his magic and seems ready to hang up his thong. Meanwhile, gone are all the other gorgeous hunks who road-tripped with him in “Magic Mike Xxl” — unless you count a lo-res video conference with Ken, Tarzan and two other old friends when Mike gets to London. Why London? That’s...

‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ Review: Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek’s Lusty Romance Can’t Save Latest Installment
Image
Near the end of 2015’s Magic Mike Xxl, before putting on their sexiest show, our beloved troupe of strippers (or male entertainers, as they prefer to be called) hear the ecstatic cheers of the crowd on the other side of the curtain. “They’re doing a fucking Twilight routine and they’re mopping it up,” Big Dick Richie (Joe Manganiello) says, exasperated by the preceding group’s PG-13 gyrations and graceless body rolls. Tarzan (Kevin Nash) isn’t surprised: “All those tweeners are growing up, man — makes perfect sense.”

If you keep Tarzan’s nonchalant sentiment in mind, then you may be able to forgive the frustrating disappointment that is Magic Mike’s Last Dance. The latest installment of the Magic Mike Cinematic Universe — a franchise that includes the enjoyable Magic Mike, the raucous Magic Mike Xxl, a reality television show called Finding Magic Mike and the tour Magic Mike Live...

Which 90 Day Fiancé Couple Has The Biggest Age Gap So Far
Image
One of the most controversial factors of 90 Day Fiancé couples is those with large age gaps. The TLC show has many stereotypes that are expected in all seasons. There is always one couple that cannot speak each other’s language, or the one where the international partner is only in it for the Green Card. Supposed gold diggers are also aplenty in the franchise, and a new category includes those cast members who are looking to become Instagram influencers, start their own businesses, and earn Cameo money.

Since 90 Day Fiancé season 1 started, there have been pairs with age differences so severe that they are predicted to fail. Mike and Aziza Eloshway had a 10-year age gap, whereas Alan Cox and 90 Day Fiancé's Kirlyam Cox were 8 years apart. These questionable age gaps have been met with judgmental comments from the audience, especially in the case of older...

Which 90 Day Fiancé Franchise Cast Members Come From California
Image
Cast members from various countries have been featured in the extended 90 Day Fiancé franchise, and multiple cast members come from America's Golden State. California is a place that nearly a dozen American cast members call home, which has led to it being featured numerous times in the hit TLC international romance franchise. Many 90Df cast members come from California, while some hail from similar types of regions.

Since it first launched nearly a decade ago in 2014, 90 Day Fiancé has aimed to showcase international romances that feature a foreigner traveling to the US to tie the knot and start a new life. Many foreigners are coming to the US for the first time, and have skewed ideas and expectations about the country, based on media and movies. While viewers sometimes like watching spin-off shows that feature Americans traveling abroad, as they showcase foreign countries, 90 Day Fiancé was originally...

90 Day Fiancé: Kirlyam Cox’s Best Instagram Moments In 2022
Image
Kirlyam Cox remains one of the most beloved 90 Day Fiancé cast members of all time, and many viewers are still interested in keeping up with the drama-free beauty in 2022. The Brazilian woman was just 21 when she entered the hit franchise in season 1 back in 2014. Now, Kirlyam is a wife and mother of two who shared many happy family moments and personal pictures in 2022.

Kirlyam became beloved to 90 Day Fiancé fans when she moved to California to be with Alan Cox. The gorgeous Brazilian woman was incredibly sweet, warm, and kind and easily won fans over. However, many viewers disliked Alan, especially when it was revealed that he had first met his future wife when she was just a child. Mormon Alan memorably stopped his beautiful partner from modeling and exerted control over her, but Kirlyam chose to stay with him for the past eight years even though some fans were against the marriage.

90 Day Fiancé Cast Members That Give Off 'Pick Me' Energy
Image
TLC's 90 Day Fiancé series has featured many female cast members, some of whom have been great, while others have shown a pick-me attitude. Over the years, the popular TLC show has showcased some of the best wives, starting with Kirlyam Cox. She joined the cast of 90 Day Fiancé season 1, during which she married her husband, Alan Cox. The pair have since formed a beautiful family, thanks to Kirlyam's sweet nature.

Avery Mills is another 90 Day Fiancé star who is considered one of the best spouses on the show. The 23-year-old Ohio native featured alongside Syrian man Omar Albakour on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 3. While Avery and her beau had major cultural differences, she resolved it all by accepting her husband's religion and supporting him. When Annie Suwan Toborowsky debuted on the show, many viewers assumed that she was using her much older beau,...

'90 Day Fiancé' Couple Kirlyam and Alan Want Fans To Know He Wasn't Creepin' On Her When She Was 12
He's not a creep! Alan Cox and his wife Kirlyam Cox were one of the first couples to star on TLC's 90 Day Fiancé, and they were introduced to viewers way back during Season 1. In their intro, the couple briefly explained how they met and fans were pretty weirded out by how young Kirlyam was when she met her future husband. But now that they don't think they'll return to the franchise for another season, Alan and Kirlyam are using YouTube as a platform to continue to tell their love story their own way — and they decided it would be a good idea to start from the beginning and clear up some speculation. "We want to make this very clear," Alan said in the video. "There was no romantic relation at all when I was on my mission and anyone who thinks that or led to believe that — cause we...

'90 Day Fiancé' Couple Alan and Kirlyam Hint That They Won't Be Returning for Another Season
Most couples from TLC's reality TV franchise 90 Day Fiancé are trainwrecks, to say the least, but there are a few successful ones. Alan Cox and his wife Kirlyam Cox starred on Season 1 of the show and they are one of the handfuls of couples that are still married after going through the K-1 visa process while filming for the show. But now, four years later, Alan and Kirlyam returned for Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: What Now? — and they're hinting that it might be the last time fans will see them on their TV screens. The top 20 underappreciated films of 1985
1985 was the year of Back To The Future, Rocky IV and Rambo II. But what about these 20 movies, that also deserve a fair share of love?

Thirty years ago, Marty McFly was riding high with the smash hit Back To The Future, while Sylvester Stallone enjoyed his most successful year yet with the one-two punch of Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rocky IV. It was an era of family sci-fi and teen comedies and bullet-spraying action, where The Breakfast Club and Teen Wolf rubbed shoulders with Death Wish 3 and Commando. Then there were low-key dramas like Out Of Africa and The Color Purple, which were both awards magnets at the Oscars.

Away from all those big hits, 1985 saw the release of a wealth of less successful movies, some of which found a second life on the then-huge home video circuit. Here's our pick of 20 underappreciated films from the year of Rambo,...

Sherlock Holmes: 10 offbeat takes on the Great Detective
From spoofs to point-and-click adventure games, here are 10 of the most memorable unusual incarnations of Sherlock Holmes...

We don’t know a great deal about the content of the 90-minute Sherlock special set to air later this year, but one thing has emerged from the set photos and tantalising titbits of information we’ve seen so far. Sherlock Holmes and John Watson will be in nineteenth-century garb, pitching them back into the setting of the legendary detective’s original adventures: 1895, to be precise. Why that happens is as yet unclear, but all will be revealed.

For those still craving their Holmes fix in the meantime, the new film Mr. Holmes offers us Ian McKellen’s take on the character, musing upon an old case as he looks back on his long career from the vantage point of retirement. Jonny Lee Miller’s ultra-modern, Us-based Sherlock will be entering his fourth...

9 potentially great movie sequels teased but never made
Odd List Ryan Lambie 23 Apr 2014 - 06:54

We take a look back at the geek movies that have hinted at sequels that were never made, and we'd really like to see...

Nb: The following contains inevitable spoilers. If you haven't seen a film in a particular entry, feel free to skip to the next one.

In some cases, it comes as a relief when a threatened sequel fails to materialise. The end of the infamous Mac And Me, for example, sees its family of cretinous aliens drive off in a pink Cadillac, a speech bubble chillingly telling us, "We'll be back!" Thankfully, Mac And Me 2 has yet to materialise, despite the original film's near-legendary status.

Every so often, though, we'll come across a movie that strongly hints at more adventures to come, but for a variety of reasons - usually financial ones - the sequel never got made. To illustrate this,...

Six of the Best – Sherlock Holmes
In 2009 the ex Mr Madonna (otherwise known as Guy Ritchie) called upon the unlikely pairing of Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law to bring back to the screen two of crime fiction’s greatest heroes – Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.

The pair are up there amongst the most filmed literary characters, Holmes has been sticking his nose into other people’s business since the earliest days of the cinema with one of the first versions being a Danish short from 1908 pitting him against his arch nemesis Moriarty and Raffles, the Victorian gentleman thief – now that really would have been a showdown worth seeing.

So, as Ritchie prepares to throw Downey and Law together again, we decided to do some sleuthing ourselves and find six of the pipe smoking detective’s best screen adventures. The results have proved anything but elementary!

6) Young Sherlock Holmes (1985)

By the mid 1980’s there were few...

Top 10 Sherlock Holmes Interpretations On Film & TV!
With ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows’ set for release this December you have plenty of time to brush up on the great detective and his trusty partner Dr Watson. Only problem is that in his 124 year history, Holmes is one of, if not ‘the’, most portrayed fictional character of all time – so where to start?

Luckily you readers I have compiled a list of the 10 must see Sherlock Holmes Interpretations.

10. Young Sherlock Holmes (1985)

I’ll start with this underrated and often overlooked entry from executive producer Steven Spielberg and writer Chris Columbus (who went on to direct ‘Home Alone’ and the first two ‘Harry Potter’ pictures). This original adventure which re-imagines Holmes and Watson as teenagers who meet at boarding school and team up to solve a mystery involving a spate of murders around London.

Intended to kick off a franchise, this movie, while not based on any of Doyle’s stories,...

Maya Entertainment to Show Speed of Thought to Audiences April 12th: DVD Artwork
Distribution company Maya Entertainment will release a new sci-fi thriller titled Speed of Thought. Nick Stahl (Mirrors 2), Mia Maestro (Frida), and Taryn Manning (Kill Theory) will star. Speed of Thought involves that prolific gift of telepathy and the lengths that governments will go to manipulate those with this power.

Nick Stahl plays Joshua Lazarus, the gifted and his name portends to biblical references. Is this a gift from God? There are references to Joshua leading the Isrealites in the New Testament and of course, Lazarus is one of the first ever zombies (resurrected by Jesus). One begins to wonder at the significance of the name and why filmmakers continue to choose their influences from religious doctrines e.g. Christian, Jewish and Muslim teachings. Have there been some new eye witness accounts of the messiah recently, that his reviewer has missed?

The synopsis for Speed of Thought is here:

"Joshua...

Young Sherlock Holmes - DVD Review
Back in 1985, an adventure came to the theaters that brought Sherlock Holmes and John Watson together for the first time. It was not the usual Holmes and Watson film, as this story was set in the time when the two were schoolboys. Youth was no obstacle to the personalities already tuned to become master sleuths, and they were out to solve a series of mysterious murders. Young John Watson (Alan Cox) has been transferred from his school in the rural north of England to the upscale Brompton Academy in the heart of London. Upon arrival he meets Sherlock Holmes (Nicholas Rowe) and they develop an instant friendship. Through his association with Holmes, John gets to...

December 23-25: DVD alternatives to this weekend’s multiplex offerings
We know how it is: You’d like to go to the movies this weekend, but... prezzies! toys! candy canes! snowball fights! big holiday dinner! But you can have a multiplex-like experience at home with a collection of the right DVDs. And when someone asks you on Monday, “Hey, did you see Sherlock Holmes this weekend?” you can reply, “No, I took a couple other trips to Victorian London instead.” Instead Of: Sherlock Holmes, Guy Ritchie’s take on the world’s first consulting detective, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as a more physical Holmes than we’re used to (though not one unfaithful to the source material) and Jude Law as his sidekick, Dr. Watson... Watch: 1985’s Young Sherlock Holmes, in which teenaged Holmes (Nicholas Rowe) and Watson (Alan Cox) battle a seemingly supernatural foe, just like the grownup criminal investigators do in Ritchie’s film. For more Victorian crimefighting,...

In the Family Way
Alan Cox admits to reservations about doing an interview with his father, Brian Cox. Brian, of course, is the esteemed character actor known for his imposing turns in fare as varied as the Oscar-winning Braveheart and the Johnny Knoxville comedy The Ringer. He will next be seen as a convict seeking to break out of prison to visit his ailing daughter in The Escapist, opening in limited release April 3. Says the younger Cox, "I do think it's interesting to talk to different generations working in the same industry with shared sensibilities. But a bit of me goes, 'God, I'm nearly 40, I don't want to be thought of as somebody's son.' " He pauses a moment before adding, "But I also want to sell my show, so if that's the hook, fire away."The show in question is the current touring production of Frost/Nixon, the Tony-winning play by Peter Morgan...

In the Hot Seat
If Stacy Keach has one reservation about playing the disgraced former President Richard Nixon in the touring production of Frost/Nixon, it's probably not what you'd expect. "The one thing experience has taught me is that it's a good idea having a sign letting people know it's an hour and 45 minutes without an intermission, rather than announcing it at the start of the show," he says with a chuckle. "We get just past the pivotal phone call in the play, and people get up to use the bathroom."Written by Peter Morgan, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of The Queen, Frost/Nixon has already enjoyed successful runs in England and on Broadway, where it won Frank Langella a Tony Award for his portrayal of Nixon facing off against interviewer David Frost in the late 1970s. More recently, it was adapted into an Oscar-nominated feature film, directed by Ron Howard. But L.A.
