Image
Exclusive: The Ilya Naishuller-directed action movie Heads of State has clocked in north of 75 million worldwide Prime Video viewers since its July 2 launch, we can tell you first.

That makes it the fourth most-watched Amazon MGM Studios film of all-time on Amazon’s Ott service.

The pic ranks behind the Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans Christmas action title Red One from Jake Kasdan, which is Prime Video’s most watched Amazon MGM feature title of all time. While an extended month number was never made public, Red One clocked 50M Prime Video viewers in its first four days; it also received a theatrical release, grossing $186M worldwide.

The second most-watched Amazon MGM movie on Prime is the Ben Affleck-Jon Bernthal The Accountant 2 with 80M worldwide viewers over its first 28 days. That Gavin O’Connor-directed action dramedy also went to the big screen and grossed $103.2M at the global box office.

Idris Elba, John Cena, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in Heads of State (2025)
Cena & Elba Save the Day in ‘Heads of State’
Idris Elba, John Cena, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in Heads of State (2025)
Heads of State Credit: Courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios Copyright: {CALVO_BRUNO} Heads of State kicks off with a satirical nod to political fantasy, echoing The Good Fight’s joke about The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) running for president. In this new Prime Video release, Heads of State stars John Cena as a former action hero turned U.S. President. Idris Elba plays the UK Prime Minister, bringing grit and gravitas to the role. The film leans into buddy-comedy chaos, and Heads of State thrives on the tension between its two leads. Priyanka Chopra Jonas joins the Heads of State cast as MI6 agent Noel Bisset. Her scenes add emotional weight and intrigue, making Heads of State more than just explosions and punchlines. The film leans into buddy-comedy chaos, with Cena’s impulsive charm clashing against Elba’s steely resolve — and somehow, it works.

Joining the fray is Priyanka Chopra Jonas as MI6 agent Noel Bisset,...

‘Heads of State’ Review: John Cena and Idris Elba Reunite for a Ridiculously Silly Action Comedy
Image
An Above-Average Streaming Movie ‘Heads of State’ is not your typical, run-of-the-mill Prime Video movie that was dumped on the service on some random Summer weekend. It has a tight script and modest runtime, some great action sequences, and is actually funny. ‘Heads of State’ doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which is why it succeeds in an era filled with soulless streaming slop (that somehow costs hundreds of millions of dollars to produce). Thanks to the chemistry between John Cena and Idris Elba’s, it makes for a well-spent night on your living room couch, which should have been a well-spent night at the theater. Oh, and the most unrealistic thing about ‘Heads of State’ is that the U.S. President isn’t a delusional geriatric. Heads of State (2025) ‘Prime Video’ Movie Ending & Mid-credit scene Explained: Can Sam and Will’s Plan Really Stop Gradov for Good?
Image
“Heads of State” (2025) starring Idris Elba, John Cena, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is a goofy action-comedy that is successful in what it set out to do—giving you an hour or so of entertainment. Directed by Ilya Naishuller of “Nobody” (2021) fame, the film exudes unabashed transparency while embracing its innate silliness. And that is praiseworthy. Elba and Cena, working together after “The Suicide Squad,” elevate the otherwise middling save-the-western-world-from-an-eastern-conspiracy story with their palpable synergy. Then there are some really ‘cool’ cameos to tie everything together.

Let us dissect the ending of the film and how it could potentially set up for further instalments.

Heads of State (2025) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:

When the President of the United States, Will Derringer (John Cena), arrives in London to meet the British Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), their entourages are met with grave news. The CIA-MI6 joint venture to nab international weapons manufacturer,...

‘Heads of State’ Review: John Cena and Idris Elba Wage a Two-Man War on Terror in Amazon’s Surprise Crowd-Pleaser
Image
In the much-better-than-it-sounds Amazon-backed action comedy “Heads of State,” relations are frosty between the president of the United States (John Cena) and the British prime minister (Idris Elba), until a terrorist attack forces them to team up and take out the threat themselves. There are at least half a dozen things about that sentence that might strike you as preposterous, but only one worth reiterating: “Heads of State” is infinitely more entertaining than it comes across on paper.

America has never had a president as underqualified for the job as Cena’s Will Derringer, a swollen Hollywood action hero best known for the “Water Cobra” franchise. The model for this character was clearly Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose Austrian origins preclude him from governing (but not from gubernating). Otherwise, he’s no less plausible a commando-in-chief than the matinee idols and reality TV stars who’ve done the job in this crazy,...

John Cena and Idris Elba Buddy Up in Explosive New 'Heads of State' Clip [Exclusive]
Image
After years of build-up (and one diplomatic disaster too many), Heads of State is finally gearing up for its global debut. Collider has the exclusive first look at the upcoming Prime Video action-comedy, and if the explosive sneak peek is any indication, we’re in for a wild, combustible ride. Think Nobody energy, but with global stakes, and slightly more presidential flair. In the sneak peek, we find John Cena and Idris Elbaas two heads of state — hey, that's the name of the movie! — hunkered down in a not-so-safe room while all hell breaks loose around them. That’s thanks in large part to Jack Quaid, who plays what can only be described as an “American nutter” and takes an, um, unorthodox approach to protecting the two world leaders. It’s explosive, it’s loud, and it’s a total blast. Literally.

First announced more than three years ago, Heads of State...

'Heads of State' Trailer Reunites John Cena and Idris Elba for Amazon Action Comedy
Image
Remember those good old buddy action comedies from the 90s? So do we. Bad Boys, Rush Hour, and The Last Boy Scout are just a few that fill us with a deep sense of nostalgia, and from the looks of it, director Ilya Naishuller is a fan as well, based on the trailer for Prime Video's new action comedy, Heads of State. Starring John Cena and Idris Elba, the film follows two world leaders who must set aside their rivalry to thwart a global conspiracy and save the world — if they can work together. If that doesn't scream "buddy action comedy," we don't know what does.

Filled with explosions, comedy, and an epic voice over, the Heads of State trailer (seen below) showcases what we can expect next month when the film hits Prime Video on July 2. There's Cena's trademark deadpan comedic delivery, Elba's charm, and even Priyanka Chopra Jonas kicking some serious butt.

John Cena & Idris Elba try to survive international attacks – and each other – in new trailer for Heads of State
Donald Trump
There’s a difference between gym-strong and strong-strong. But the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom are going to need a whole lot more than either to make it through this ordeal. But since they’re played by John Cena and Idris Elba, that shouldn’t be much of a problem…except they’re already at each other’s throats. Now, we have the first trailer for Heads of State, which sees the men surviving an attack on Air Force One and trying to outlast both those after them and each other.

Heads of State – which arrives on Amazon Prime Video on July 2nd – has been a long time coming, as the project was announced back in 2020. Filming fully wrapped just over a year ago, giving Amazon MGM Studios ample time to get the promotion going. This trailer is the culmination, and judging...

Idris Elba Can't See John Cena in Explosive New Trailer for ‘Heads of State’
Image
It’s been over three years since Heads of State was first announced — but the wait is almost over. Prime Video has finally dropped the first trailer for the long-awaited action-comedy, and confirmed that the film will hit the streamer on July 2, 2025, just in time to light the fuse for Independence Day weekend. The new trailer sets the tone immediately: Heads of State is exactly what you’d expect from a buddy-comedy featuring The Suicide Squad duo John Cena and Idris Elba, who once again bring their explosive chemistry to a globe-trotting adventure. Plus, it's nice to see Cena attempting to be a good guy after his recent attempts to "ruin wrestling".

In Heads of State, Cena plays U.S. President Will Derringer, a former action movie star who somehow found his way to the White House. Elba stars as U.K. Prime Minister Sam Clarke, a seasoned leader who...

'Heads of State' Trailer Reunites Dcu Stars John Cena and Idris Elba
Image
Prime Video has released the first trailer for Heads of State, an upcoming action comedy starring Dcu actors John Cena and Idris Elba as Will Derringer, the President of the United States, and Sam Clarke, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, respectively. The footage teases the "debut duet" of the two characters, and they might just be the duo that we never knew we needed or, at least, the one we needed again following their previous team-up as Peacemaker and Bloodsport in James Gunn's 2021 superhero film The Suicide Squad.

Cena and Elba are seen entering new territory as world leaders in the action-packed trailer for Heads of State (shared below). The clips reveal a rivalry between Derringer, a former fame-hungry Hollywood star, and Clarke, a straight-talking government leader, which, according to the synopsis for the movie, could "risk their countries' alliance." However, they realize that two heads are...

The film is an action-packed comedy about the U.S. President (played by John Cena) and the UK Prime Minister (played by Idris Elba), who must set aside their rivalry to thwart a global conspiracy and save the world — if they can work together.

Heads of State Trailer Featuring Idris Elba, John Cena, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Image
Prime Video has released the trailer, poster, and photos for Heads of State, the action comedy premiering globally on July 2, 2025. The film has been rated PG-13 for sequences of strong violence/action, language, and some smoking.

In Heads of State, the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena) have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries’ “special relationship.”

But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary—who proves more than a match for the two leaders’ security forces—they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other.

Ultimately allied with the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they must go on the run and find a way to work together long enough to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world.

In addition to Idris Elba,...

John Cena and Idris Elba Are 'Heads of State' in First Trailer For Prime Video's New Action-Comedy
Image
It's been a long time since the action-comedy movie that promised to reunite John Cena (Jackpot!) and Idris Elba (Hijack) was first announced. The good news for fans of both actors is that the wait is almost over. Today, Prime Video finally decided to unveil a trailer for Heads of State, which provides some insights into the story and reveals some of its characters. The streamer also announced a release date: it debuts on July 2, just in time for Independence Day.

The timing of the release is not random. In the story, Cena plays Will Derringer, the President of the United States, and Elba plays UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke. The two leaders have a very public feud, which is a huge problem for the nations' relationship. Their connection doesn't get any better when they are forced to spend time together during a diplomatic event. However, they need to put...

Heads Of State Trailer Sends John Cena & Idris Elba Into Action As Potus And Prime Minister
Image
The folks at Amazon have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming action/comedy "Heads of State." This is a two-hander that reunites Idris Elba and John Cena, who previously starred in "The Suicide Squad" together. This time, instead of playing villains turned heroes, they're playing government officials at the highest levels. Elba is the U.K. Prime Minister, and Cena is the U.S. President — and they don't like each other. Let the comedy ensue.

The new film, which is going straight to Prime Video in July, was directed by Ilya Naishuller, best known for his work on 2021's "Nobody" starring Bob Odenkirk. So this seems to be right in his wheelhouse. Much of the trailer focuses on the dynamic between Elba and Cena, which is very contentious, not unlike Peacemaker and Bloodsport in "The Suicide Squad." It doesn't look particularly original, but it certainly looks like the...

4 great shows like Agatha All Along
Image
Agatha All Along is one of the biggest shows of the fall. In terms of hype and excitement, it feels like one of the biggest of Marvel's Disney+ shows since the streaming service launched in 2019.

After fans watched all nine episodes of Agatha All Along, there's going to be a long wait until Agatha All Along season 2 (or whatever iteration that continues this story) hits Disney+. That's the bad news. The good news is two-fold. It sure sounds like Agatha All Along season 2 is going to happen. Disney and Marvel haven't officially confirmed the series will be back, but showrunner Jac Schaeffer sure made it sound like more Agatha is on the way after that incredible season 1 ending and finale, via Marvel.

And, on top of that, we have a lot of good and witchy shows like Agatha All Along while we wait for season 2.

Let's get the list started...

One Secrets Of Dumbledore Line Proves Credence Is The New Snape
Image
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore confirmed that Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore (Ezra Miller) is the new Snape (Alan Rickman) through a very familiar line delivered by Aberforth Dumbledore (Richard Coyle). Fantastic Beasts 3 finally shed light on the plot twist of Credence being Aurelius Dumbledore. Indeed, Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) didn't lie, but he was wrong about Aurelius being Albus' brother (and about the Dumbledores abandoning him). In fact, he is Aberforth's long-lost son, and when the two finally reconnect, Aberforth makes Credence's connection to Snape all too clear.

It is revealed in Fantastic Beasts 3 that Aberforth fathered a child with a woman from Godric's Hollow. However, she was sent away, and the baby was swapped by Leta Lestrange (who was trying to temporarily get rid of her noisy brother Corvus). This is how Aurelius Dumbledore was named Credence and put under the care of tyrannic Mary Lou Barebone. While...
