“Stop the music… Let’s play something family-friendly”: Diddy Personally Stopped Lizzo from Twerking, Got Accused of Fat-shaming
Image
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs may have once been one of the music industry’s most recognized names. However, after his recent arrest and fall from grace, the rapper’s reputation has taken a massive hit. With various accusations and accounts of his White Parties being brought to light, the 54-year-old has quickly fallen into the controversial category with other rappers like Kanye West, Chris Brown, and many others.

However, long before the music producer’s private life came to light, Diddy was accused of fat-shaming the pop singer, Lizzo. While he quickly shut down the rumors, it still wound up being a moment that left netizens in shock.

The Diddy and Lizzo moment that ended with the rapper being called fatphobic

‘La Brega’ Podcast Deepens Its Stories of Puerto Rico With a Star-Studded Soundtrack
Image
Immediately after the podcast La Brega launched in February of 2021, it was met with rave reviews from listeners and critics alike. The first season of the show — co-produced by Futuro Studios and Wnyc — focused on historical and sociopolitical events that have shaped Puerto Rico over the past few decades. The storytelling struck a chord both with locals living on the archipelago and Puerto Ricans in the diaspora — and the program also drew in non-Puerto Ricans, who have been enthralled by the meticulous reporting showcased in each episode.

Elvis Crespo Releases Fresh Version of Beloved Latinx Party Anthem "Suavemente"
Image
There is one song from the Spanish-speaking Caribbean that has captivated audiences across the globe for decades. In Latin American family parties, from quinceañeras to weddings, it's a go-to song to kick off the merengue dance portion of the playlist. It has also become a staple song in non-Latinx parties when it's time to switch up the vibe. We're referring to the upbeat merengue single by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Elvis Crespo, "Suavemente." Whether you're sitting at the table sipping on a drink or in the restroom fixing up your makeup when Crespo's voice begins "Suavementeeee," it's time to grab a partner and run to the dance floor.

And now, a new version of the 23-year-old song has been released by Amazon Latin as the "Suavemente (25 Aniversario Amazon Original)" with a fresh mambo vibe. At a time when reggaeton artists like Bad Bunny have taken over the world, the new...

Billboard Latin Music Awards 2022 Winners: The Complete List
Elvis Crespo
It's time to have a celebratory fiesta in honor of the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards winners! The biggest names in Latin music gathered for an electric night at the annual awards ceremony with a star-studded guest list. The only thing more exciting, perhaps, was the spectacular performances. This year, the ceremony—which was held on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla. and airing on Telemundo—welcomed stars such as Elvis Crespo, Grupo Firme, Nicky Jam, Ozuna, Pepe Aguilar and Maluma to the stage. Similarly to last year, Bad Bunny topped the list of finalists with a jaw-dropping 23 nominations. He is followed by Karol G with 15...

‘A Round of Applause for the Number One Artist on the Planet’: Bad Bunny’s Seismic Yankee Stadium Show Was One for the Books
Image
It almost feels like a cliché to declare 2022 the year of Bad Bunny, because let’s face it: The last several years have been entirely his. Since 2020, the Puerto Rican titan has been the most streamed artist in the world, and every rotation around the sun only makes him a bigger phenomenon. He keeps breaking records and climbing skyward, reaching a place reserved for rare, once-in-a-lifetime stars.

His latest feat? A truly seismic show — one of two back-to-back nights — at Yankee Stadium as part of the World’s Hottest Tour,...

Bad Bunny Time Travels to the Nineties and Pays Homage to Elvis Crespo in Delightful ‘Neverita’ Video
Image
One of the most upbeat, unexpected songs on Bad Bunny’s record-shattering album Un Verano Sin Ti is “Neverita,” a bright, electro-pop bop. On Monday, the Puerto Rican superstar released a playful video to accompany the breezy track, embracing retro internet aesthetics and paying tribute to the merengue legend, Elvis Crespo.

The video, directed by Bad Bunny’s go-to collaborator Stillz, flashes back in time to the late Nineties and sees Bad Bunny recreating parts of Crespo’s “Suavemente,” the legendary track from 1999. Bad Bunny sings and dances over several...

Former Miss Colombia Daniella Alvarez Dances Again After Recently Having Her Leg Amputated
Elvis Crespo
Daniella Alvarez is dancing like everybody is watching. On Monday, the former Miss Colombia took to Instagram to share a video of herself dancing—which marks her first time since having to get her leg amputated three weeks ago. In the one-minute clip, the 32-year-old pageant queen can be seen dancing with her "favorite partner," who also happens to be her brother Ricki Alvarez. The two partnered up and danced to Elvis Crespo's "Besos de Coral." The siblings had huge smiles on their faces throughout, as they sashayed and twirled to the hit tune in a living room. At one point, Ricki dipped his sister, who kept shimming...

Rita Moreno, Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, and Marcel Ruiz in One Day at a Time (2017)
5 Things We Learned on the Set of ‘One Day at a Time’
Rita Moreno, Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, and Marcel Ruiz in One Day at a Time (2017)
Shortly before the coronavirus pandemic forced TV and film productions to shut down en masse, studio audiences were still lining up to watch live tapings on backlots across Los Angeles. “One Day at a Time,” the former Netflix original that now resides on Pop TV was no different.

Variety visited the Alvarez home on the Sony lot in February to interview members of the cast about their big cable debut and what it’s like to be one of the few Latinx families on television. Here are five things Variety learned while on set.

How the cast experiences Latinx culture through the show

The Alvarez family house feels familiar to many Latinx viewers: Rosaries and prayer candles fill the space, ropa vieja is in the pot, and rising rent prices are cause for worry. But quinceañeras and waving Cuban flags at little league games aren’t what resonates the most with the cast.

Kamri Peterson and Artyon Celestine in Dancing with the Stars: Juniors (2018)
Ariana Greenblatt made Puerto Rico proud on ‘Dancing with the Stars: Juniors’ with Giving Thanks salsa [Watch]
Kamri Peterson and Artyon Celestine in Dancing with the Stars: Juniors (2018)
On “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” Giving Thanks Night, Ariana Greenblatt performed to the song “Pintame” by Elvis Crespo because “my family always plays this song on the spinning thing,” by which she meant a record player — though she’s so young she might have also meant some other dusty musical antique, like the hard drive of an iPod. She was paying tribute to her family and celebrating her Puerto Rican heritage with a salsa routine that opened a night of gratitude. Watch it above.

Even though Greenblatt performed at the beginning of the night she still had a tough act to follow — herself. On Juniors Choice Night she performed a jazz routine that made history as the very first dance on “DWTS: Juniors” to receive a 10. She got that mark from Adam Rippon along with a pair of 9s from Val Chmerkovskiy and Mandy Moore. She took the confidence...

‘Dancing with the Stars: Juniors’ Giving Thanks Night recap: Which kids had reason to be grateful? [Updating Live Blog]
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
The adults are almost done on “Dancing with the Stars,” but the inaugural season of “Juniors” is still underway with six kids remaining following last week’s ouster of Disney Channel star Jason Maybaum. So who was the next to go? On Giving Thanks Night the young celebs dedicated their routines to people who inspired them. Follow along with our live blog below to find out who had reason to be grateful and who said “Thanks for nothing” to the judges and studio audience.

Last week’s Juniors Choice Night put “Avengers” actress Ariana Greenblatt at the top of the judges’ leaderboard with the season’s first 10, and “Black-ish” star Miles Brown was close behind with another set of straight 9s. Skateboarding prodigy Sky Brown trailed in the scores, but the Gold Derby users who enter their predictions every week still think she’s the one to beat for the Mirror Ball Trophy.

‘Dancing with the Stars: Juniors’ will give us a Stevie Wonder performance on Giving Thanks Night

While “Dancing with the Stars” will reach its season finale on Monday, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” is still in the thick of its season. Sunday’s episode is just Week 6 of a nine-week season, and since it’s also Thanksgiving next Thursday, you can bet your two left feet that “Juniors” is doing a “Giving Thanks” theme. Unclear if anyone will be dressed as a turkey, but we might get one or two dances that are complete turkeys.

The top six will dedicate their routines — either a jazz, salsa, samba or foxtrot — to those people who’ve had an impact on their lives. We’re guessing Mandla Morris‘ is going to be his dad Stevie Wonder since the singer is performing “Isn’t She Lovely” during his son’s dance.

One couple will be eliminated at the end of Sunday’s show.

How Steve Aoki Got Bts, Bill Nye and Blink-182 on the Same Album
Dominant just a few years ago, the electronic pop genre known as Edm has faded from the commercial mainstream — just two producers associated with it are in the Top 50 this week. So artists in this space have been forced to come up with creative ways to maintain a presence outside of the festivals and Las Vegas gigs that have long been a mainstay.

Edm producers have primarily settled on three approaches. One is to become a behind-the-scenes figure for pop acts — Skrillex, for example, has contributed to songs by Justin Bieber,...

Juan Pablo Di Pace Elimination Leaves Dancing with the Stars Fans Stunned
Dancing with the Stars is no stranger to controversy, and much of that stems from the viewer vote saving some of the more marginal performers.

Related: 42 Celebrities Who Have Spent Time in the Slammer

However, Monday night's episode was met with fury from fans because Juan Pablo Di Pace was given the boot after scoring two perfect scores on the night.

Fans took to social media in the aftermath to vent because it will go down as one of the most stunning eliminations in the history of the series.

1. Wth Is Going On?! Juan Pablo and Cheryl went with the Argentine Tango to "Libertango" from Forever Tango. It won them praise from the judges, and a perfect score of 30/30. They followed that up a sultry Salsa to "Tu Sonrisa" by Elvis Crespo. It landed them another perfect score! However, the pair was sent home at the close of the episode...

The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ semifinal will have double the dances and a case of deja vu
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
It’s the second-to-last week on “Dancing with the Stars,” which means two times the dances. The six semifinalists will tackle two individual routines this week: one unlearned dance and a judges’ pick of a style to redo from earlier in the season. The judges’ pick do-over is usually reserved for the finale, but nothing about this season makes sense, like the fact that there will be a one-night finale.

Since the finale is now one night, it’s unclear if there will be a double elimination at the end of the semifinal, which would give us a final four instead of an unprecedented final five. Originally, the second double elimination would’ve occurred on Night 1 of the finale to produce a final three for Night 2.

Dillon Francis on New Spanish-Language Album ‘Wut Wut,’ Edm’s Latin Pop Crossover
James Van Der Beek, Bobby Lee, Dora Madison, Michael Croner, and Dillon Francis in What Would Diplo Do? (2017)
Best known for his arena-caliber Edm and bombastic bass drops, Los Angeles-born DJ-producer Dillon Francis has a long and storied history with Latin music. He began releasing mostly dubstep tracks in 2010, when the then-nascent moombahton genre — which combines electro-house with Latin-tinged reggaeton beats — first took the Internet by storm. Francis then notched his first major hit in 2011 via “Que Que,” a Spanish-language track alongside mentor and frequent collaborator Diplo, featuring Dominican-American artist Maluca. Fast-forward to 2018, and Francis has reached the cusp of a new career chapter: Dillon Francis, Latin pop crossover star.

'X Factor' Recap: Carlito Olivero Edges Out Restless Road
The X Factor (2011)
Carlito Olivero is safe? To quote the Smiths, that joke isn't funny anymore.

However, Thursday night's X Factor results show wasn't kidding: Carlito made it into next week's finals over Restless Road, who reached the end of the, well, road. And someone somewhere is laughing – probably Carlito's space-case mentor Paulina Rubio. But the joke is so old that it's for the birds.

Rolling Stone's Complete Coverage of 'The X Factor'

While frontrunners Alex and Sierra littered the top 100 of the iTunes songs chart (hitting Number One with their...

The X Factor's Final Three Are Revealed
Dermot O'Leary, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, Simon Cowell, and Louis Walsh in The X Factor UK (2004)
Somebody had to go home on Thursday's The X Factor results show, but it most certainly wasn't going to be Alex & Sierra. America voted to send the pair - who wowed the judges Wednesday night with their flawless rendition of Sara Bareilles' "Gravity" - through to next week's finale. "We just want to thank everybody that's voted. This is incredible," a humble Alex said upon hearing the news, while the group's mentor, Simon Cowell, gushed about the talented singers. "I think they've been incredible to work with," he said. "They've gotten better every single week and the finale would...

The X Factor Season 3 Semifinal Results Recap: What Doesn't Kill You Makes a Fighter
Simon Cowell in American Idol (2002)
Can I get a slow clap for The X Factor ? (No, that’s not a subtle put-down of Paulina Rubio.)

Seriously, while the results shows of most reality singing competitions are built on a flimsy foundation of “60 seconds of news”/”59 minutes of cornmeal filler and deadly group performances,” the House That Simon Cowell Burned to the Ground Built introduced a far more entertaining twist for revealing its semifinal vote tallies: As each of the Top 3 artists advanced into next week’s finale, they immediately began what Mario Lopez called “their campaigns to win” the whole enchilada.

In other words, why...

Merengue star Crespo to enter alcoholism rehab center

San Juan, July 15 (Ians/Efe) Puerto Rican merengue star Elvis Crespo will soon check into a rehab center to treat his alcoholism following an incident related to his drinking problem.

"I admit I have a problem with alcohol and that I have to work on it. I'm now privately looking for a rehabilitation facility so I can keep going," Crespo said in a statement to the press after leaving a hospital in Guayabo, a city neighbouring San Juan.

Molly And Glowsticks At NYC's Electric Daisy Carnival
James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine in Spring Breakers (2012)
The following article is provided by Rolling Stone.

By Julianne Escobedo Shepherd

The most influential DJ at this weekend's Electric Daisy Carnival in New York opened the festival's mainstage early on the first day: It was the French producer Cedric Gervais, whose 2012 hit "Molly" has inspired a catch phrase emblazoned on thousands of t-shirts across the parking lot of Citi Field, the home stadium for the Mets. "Have you seen Molly?" the song goes. "She makes me want to dance." Much more than a cheeky request for Mdma via a garment purchasable from the Shore Store, it embodied the zeitgeist – not just that of the largest electronic dance music festival in America, but of the party generation. Rave culture has taken over this generation full bore, and the kids are so invested that thousands of young women hot-glued their bras with rhinestones, glowsticks and silk daisies, clearly prepping for this experience for weeks.

Grammy Winner Accused Of Nightclub Sex Assault
Elvis Crespo
A mother of two says Grammy winner Elvis Crespo tried to force her to have sex with him at a Chicago nightclub, according to a lawsuit reported Wednesday by Courthouse News Service.

Leoanny De La Cruz, who works in the Chicago schools, says in the suit that on Feb. 18, 2011, after the merengue singer performed at V-Live, Crespo groped her and attempted to strip her clothes and force her into intercourse, according to Courthouse News. The club is also named in the action, filed in Cook County Court.

De La Cruz's lawyer, Scott Blumenshine, confirmed the suit and told The Huffington Post his client had suffered from the incident. "It was emotionally upsetting," he said. "It caused her to have thoughts and feelings that any normal person would have in those circumstances. There was a nonconsensual physical assault on her person."

Blumenshine said De La Cruz had met Crespo in a...

Elvis Crespo releases new album - Realbollywood.com News
Elvis Crespo
Miami, May 2 (Ians/Efe) Puerto Rican singer Elvis Crespo Tuesday has released his 12th album, "Los Monsters".

"I still have to defend myself just like the first day. I think that if I'm overconfident, if I rest on my laurels, I'm not going to work in the same way," said Crespo in an interview with Efe.

The performer mentioned the years 2002 and 2003, when he said "I let myself be led by my name and by my ego" after the success of his hits "Suavemente" and "Pintame".

The consequences, according to the Puerto Rican singer, were that "I was not up to the circumstances" and due.
