‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Season 9 on Track to Achieve Franchise’s Best 35-Day Viewership in Three Years (Exclusive)
Image
Season 9 of “Below Deck Mediterranean” is bringing in strong viewership not only compared to previous seasons of the series, but to the “Below Deck” franchise overall, according to Multiplatform + 35 data.

The first 14 episodes of the season averaged 3.4 million viewers when accounting for 35 days of viewership, with 1.7 million of those viewers falling into the key adults 18-49 demographic. The final three episodes have yet to hit the 35-day mark, having aired on Sept. 9, 16 and 23. But provided that the season average remains steady, this will represent the best MP+35 viewership for any “Below Deck” series — including the flagship title plus “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” “Below Deck Down Under” and “Below Deck Adventure” — since 2021, when “Below Deck Mediterranean” Season 6 hit a 35-day average of 3.5 million viewers (with 1.8 million among adults 18-49).

It’s unsurprising that “Below Deck Mediterranean” is on this path, given Season 9’s sizable build on Season 8’s viewership. According to 35-day data where available,...

The Unaired Moment That Caused The Below Deck Crew To Walk Off The Shown
Image
Behind the scenes drama threatened the future of Below Deck during its early days of shooting over a decade ago. Crew members had trust issues with cameras, leading to a walkout triggered by the discovery of drugs on the yacht. Production had to intervene in other instances, like on Below Deck Down Under, showing the challenges of filming at sea.

The Bravo series continues to enjoy success. However, behind the scenes, issues have taken place, and that dates back to Below Deck's first time shooting. Reality TV can be stressful, and this was especially true over a decade ago, given how new it still was. Crew members had a hard time adjusting to cameras, and it resulted in a walkout, which threatened the show's future.

We will take a closer look at what took place behind the scenes, and the moment that prompted the show's producer to turn all the cameras off.

VH1's Darkest Reality Show Was Banned After Three Episodes For The Worst Reason
Image
Megan Wants a Millionaire never saw the light of day after a contestant killed his wife, ending the show after just 3 episodes. Contestant Ryan Jenkins almost won the show, but later was found dead in a hotel room after committing suicide. Reality TV has its dark side, with many shows filmed but never aired due to various reasons, including criminal activity and production issues.

Although entertaining, reality TV is a tough business. Even the more established shows like Vanderpump Rules are being threatened to be canceled, while Bringing Up Bates got the boot, largely due to The Duggars.

There were other shows that lasted even less on television. One in particular aired on VH1 over a decade ago. Megan Wants a Millionaire was perfect for its time. However, a contestant did the unthinkable, and millions were lost as production was immediately cut.

We're going to take a look back at what took place,...

Below Deck: What Happened To Chef Kevin Dobson After Season 7
Image
Kevin Dobson, former cast member of Below Deck, still works as a chef in the yacht industry and freelances as a yacht chef while working full-time in Australia. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys fishing and recently caught a large Yellow Fin Tuna, showing his love for the ocean and seafood. Unlike Kate and Captain Lee, who have left the show, Kevin seems content living a low-key life as a chef and doesn't show interest in returning to the spotlight.

Kevin Dobson only appeared on Below Deck season 7, and it's time to detail what he's done after the hit reality TV series. During his time on Below Deck, he was often shown butting heads with Chief Stew Kate Chastain. He believed Kate wasn't meeting his service standards, and he called her out many times. Kevin was constantly undermining Kate, and she didn't appreciate his attitude. As fans await Below Deck...

Christian Sarabia, President Of ‘Below Deck’ Producer 51 Minds, To Exit; Julie Pizzi To Oversee Banijay Company
Image
There’s change on the high seas of Banijay.

Christian Sarabia, President of 51 Minds Entertainment, the production company behind Bravo hit Below Deck, is stepping down from the Banijay Americas-owned business.

Julie Pizzi, President of fellow Banijay-backed firm Bunim/Murray, will add overseeing 51 Minds to her responsibilities running the Real World producer.

It is the latest change for the group; earlier this year, Cris Abrego, who founded 51 Minds, stepped down as CEO of Banijay Americas with Ben Samek taking over that role and Abrego remaining as Chairman. There’s been much speculation about Abrego’s own role in recent months.

Sarabia has been with 51 Minds for many years, having produced series such as The Surreal Life and Flavor of Love. He took the reins at the company in 2014 after Abrego became one of the top execs at the-then titled Endemol North America and the departure of co-founder Mark Cronin.

6 Below Deck Cast Members Who Gave Birth After The Show
Image
Below Deck has featured dozens of cast members, some of whom have embraced motherhood after leaving the show. The video of his viral moment surfaced all over the Internet, making fans glad that he left the show. Rachel Hargrove also shocked viewers after Below Deck season 9. She cut ties with the show, and began complaining about unethical reality TV editing.

Below Deck stars have revealed behind-the-scenes secrets. First deckhand and bosun Eddie Lucas disclosed that most crew members aren't always on luxury yachts. They gain experience elsewhere, such as on tugboats. Captain Lee Rosbach's also stated that the camera crew films thousands of hours of footage each season. However, viewers only see the best parts,...

Bravo Expands ‘Below Deck’ Franchise With New Luxury Yacht Series
Exclusive: Bravo Media is expanding its highly rated Below Deck franchise with Below Deck Sailing Vessel (working title), a new series from Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean producers 51 Minds.

Below Deck Sailing Vessel (wt) is described as a new kind of Below Deck, featuring luxury sailing yachts, considered the queens of the yachting world, as the charter of choice.

Bravo says the new series is similar to Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean with fit crews, exotic locations, demanding charter guests and an “upstairs/downstairs” dedication to service. However, sailboats have a sleeker design than their motor yacht counterparts, and this makes their galleys smaller, their stew stations almost non-existent and the crew’s living quarters more cramped and in much closer proximity to the guest quarters. Sailing yachts also attract a different kind of charter guest – from the exclusive old money patrons to the new eco-conscious tech millionaires...

The Ultimate Con Job: Syfy Trails the Heroes of Cosplay
Don't tell these sci fi-fantasy geeks to "Get a life!" They already have one — and it's making them pretty damn famous. Syfy's new reality series Heroes of Cosplay, premiering Tuesday at10:30 pm/9:30c, will follow nine uberobsessed cosplayers — that's short for "costume players" — as they travel the comic-book conventions of America dressed as their favorite characters from film, TV, anime and video games. Their costumes are elaborate, self-made and, in some cases, quite erotic.

"If you assume the world of cosplay is filled with social misfits confused about the priorities in life, you're in for a surprise," says executive producer Mark Cronin.

Diablo Cody Teams With Steve Agee For ‘Me Time’ At TBS
Our favorite bad girl screenwriter, Diablo Cody is making news. She’s hard at work on a brand new pilot for TBS called Me Time With Diablo Cody. The edgy talent is usually doing her business behind the scenes, but this project puts her in front of the camera as a show host. Steve Agee will assist.

Agee is a writer, actor and comedian who appeared as Steve Myron on the Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program. He has written for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and also acted for 2 Broke Girls and The League. Deadline reports, he’ll next appear in Cody’s pilot as her co-host and all around sidekick.

What is Me Time With Diablo Cody? good question. Agee also will serve as a writer on the project, which is said to present Cody’s two cents on just about everything Hollywoodland. She’ll tackle celebrities, news and pop culture.
