‘Suits LA’ Canceled After One Season at NBC
Image
“Suits LA” has been canceled at NBC after just one season, Variety has learned.

The expansion of the “Suits” universe originally launched on NBC in February. The cast includes Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt and Bryan Greenberg. A number of original “Suits” cast members have made appearances, including Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and David Costabile.

The show had a lot of buzz behind it going into the premiere, given that “Suits” had found an incredible new life on streaming on Netflix. But “Suits LA” failed to match that hype, with the show making only a small dent in the ratings and drawing mostly negative reviews upon its debut.

The official series description states:

“Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must...

‘Suits LA’ Canceled By NBC After One Season
Image
Exclusive: It’s one and done for NBC’s legal drama Suits LA headlined by Stephen Amell, a spinoff of the long-running USA Network series Suits.

Given the high-profile IP involved, NBC had high expectations for the series from Suits creator Aaron Korsh. They never materialized: after an Ok premiere, viewership for the offshoot, which airs on Sunday, has remained low.

That is with NBC and Korsh pulling out all the stops and bringing back popular original cast members to play with the new cast. They included Gabriel Macht, who reprised the role of Harvey Specter in a three-episode arc, Rick Hoffman as eccentric Louis Litt in episode 112 and David Costabile as Daniel Hardman in episode 109.

Additionally, in an effort to bring in more eyeballs, NBC staged a Thursday night Suits LA takeover with a three-hour marathon of repeats on March 27.

'Watson's Morris Chestnut Returns to His Roots in 'Reasonable Doubt' Season 3
Image
It’s been about five months since Hulu’s legal drama Reasonable Doubt was renewed for a third season, but sadly, no premiere date has been announced as of this writing. Nevertheless, the streamer has confirmed that filming is ongoing in Atlanta, which TV Insider reported, while also dropping a terrific casting update in the shape of Morris Chestnut. Chestnut has been most recently seen leading the CBS medical-mystery series Watson, which premiered earlier in January and has already been renewed for another run.

When Reasonable Doubt returns, Chestnut will reprise his role as Corey Cash in a recurring capacity. Corey is a talented defense attorney that Jax (Emayatzy Corinealdi) brought in to assist on a case in the show’s second season, though as a main character. Chestnut’s anticipated return coincides with the addition of several new cast members to the upcoming season, namely, Kyle Bary as Ozzie,...

‘Suits: LA’ Gets Marathon On NBC With Newer Episodes That Harken Back To Original Series
Image
NBC’s Suits spinoff got to a slower ratings start than anticipated, and the network is looking to correct that, slating a Thursday night takeover March 27 with encores of three back-to-back Suits: LA episodes. They will replace previously scheduled reruns of NBC’s regular Thursday drama lineup.

Unlike most similar stunts where viewers are given a chance to catch up on a new show from the beginning, NBC will not be re-airing the Suits: LA pilot. Instead, it will rebroadcast the most recent Episodes: 3(“He Knew”), 4 (“Batman Returns”) and 5 (“You’re on Your Own”), the latter of which will air its original telecast this Sunday, March 23.

The choice likely has to do with Suits: LA‘s evolution. After a rocky start, the show started to get closer to Suits and its breezy style and lighter tone, in part due to studio UCP bringing back original directors who had shaped the USA Network series.

Updated: Welcome to the West Coast. NBC has dropped the first trailer for Suits spinoff Suits LA which opens with Stephen Amell’s Ted Black getting hit with an insult right off the bat.

They do whatever they can to win,” as we see shots of people breaking things in offices, fighting and apparently taking a bribe. ‘Suits LA’ Trailer Teases Quips, Explosions and the Return of Harvey Specter
Image
With only one month to go until the premiere of “Suits: LA,” NBC finally dropped the first official trailer for its highly-anticipated new drama. Prepare for higher stakes, shorter tempers and the return to the “Greenback Boogie” as this legal drama tackles the West Coast.

“I need someone with confidence. And you just seem a little sheepish to me.” That insult is lodged at Ted Black (Stephen Amell) seconds into this first look, prompting a faux wince from Ted. And with that quippy exchange, “Suits” is back, baby.

The rest of the trailer is filled with confident people in stylish, well, suits, trading insults, double entendres and cocky statements about how they’re the best of the best in Tinseltown. But it’s not a full return to normal. A new coast presents new challenges for this former New York federal prosecutor.

“It’s different out here. People lie. They cheat.

‘Suits LA’ Brings Back Harvey Specter: Gabriel Macht To Recur On NBC Spinoff

Exclusive: This is the news Suits fans have been waiting for — the star of the hit legal drama will appear on the upcoming NBC spinoff, Suits LA. Gabriel Macht, who played the brash and suave super lawyer Harvey Specter on the original series, will reprise his role on the offshoot in a three-episode arc, sources tell Deadline. Since Suits LA was announced a year ago, on the heels of the original series’ streaming resurgence on Netflix, there has been talk about Og cast members appearing in the follow-up. NBC executives have hinted at that possibility, with most Suits alums publicly saying that they would do it if Aaron Korsh, creator of both the original and the spinoff, called them.

Image
The anticipation for Suits: L.A. has been simmering for over a year, but the cast and crew seemingly only just started filming the episodes in November 2024. Despite ending in 2019, Suits impressively became the most streamed TV show in the United States in 2023 after experiencing a surge of popularity when added to Netflix's streaming library. According to Variety, Suits was watched for a total of 57.7 billion minutes in 2023.

Hulu's Hit Legal Drama 'Reasonable Doubt' Renewed for Season 3
Image
Hulu has no doubt about the future of its legal drama, Reasonable Doubt, as the streamer just renewed the series for a third season. The Kerry Washington-produced show has been a low-key hit since it debuted in 2022, so it's not surprising to see it getting another installment. Some fans, however, were unsure about its fate, as its second season concluded almost a month ago.

But there are no objections, as far as The Hollywood Reporter can tell, to this show returning to court.

The well-reviewed (and received) series came to Hulu from the Onyx Collective, with executive producers Kerry Washington, Pilar Savone, Larry Wilmore, and Anton Cropper. Creator and showrunner Raamla Mohamed also serves as an executive producer. Mohamed was also a former writer on Scandal the show that made Washington a household name. The series has a 100% fresh rating for both seasons on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Disney-owned streamer has renewed the series for a third season. The pickup comes about four weeks after Reasonable Doubt concluded its second season.

Following the finale, creator and showrunner Raamla Mohamed told The Hollywood Reporter that she was hopeful for a third season. “They [Hulu] definitely are happy with the way the show is performing, and it’s doing well and people are really excited about it so that makes me very happy. Reasonable Doubt comes from Disney’s Onyx Collective and 20th Television (the show had been at the now-shuttered ABC Signature but will continue under the 20th banner). The legal drama centers on L.A. defense attorney Jacqueline “Jax” Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi...

Morris Chestnut Says He’d ‘Without a Doubt’ Return to ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Season 3
Image
Morris Chestnut, the latest star to join Hulu-Onyx Collective’s hit legal drama “Reasonable Doubt,” says he’d love to be a permanent addition to Jax Stewart’s (Emayatzy Corinealdi) bench.

“I would love to be,” the actor told TheWrap. “Without a doubt. Working with Raamla [Mohamed] and Emayatzy, the whole cast is incredible. Raamla writes a great script. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to be in the next script after I read the previous one. I would come back in a heartbeat.”

Chestnut steps into the courtroom as Corey Cash, the suave, media-savvy and extremely calculated defense attorney that Stewart needs to help her win her best friend’s murder case. However, his unique tactics could prove to be more dramatic than helpful.

And speaking of heartbeats, it looks like Corey might be making Jax’s (and fans’) beat a little harder. After the two characters...

‘Reasonable Doubt’ Stars Say EP Raamla Mohamed Encourages Cast to ‘Go Off-Script’ With Comedic Lines: ‘That’s Her Placing a Lot of Faith in Me’
Image
“Reasonable Doubt” stars Angela Grovey and Tim Jo said executive producer and showrunner Raamla Mohamed encourages the cast to lean into their own creativity when it comes to delivering comedic lines.

“I’d say it’s a real testament to Raamla Mohamed, who is an expert craftsman,” Jo, who plays Jax Stewart’s private investigator Daniel Kim, told TheWrap. “I can’t imagine the amount of effort and thought that goes into every word, and into the entire show that is her baby. But when she herself comes to me and says, ‘Tim, you can say whatever,’ I know that’s not glib, I know that’s her placing a lot of faith in me. So I really appreciate that, especially this season. I ran with it and said, ‘I’m going to say whatever I feel like.’ And so I did do that.”

Grovey chimed in, saying Mohamed’s...

‘Reasonable Doubt’ Season 2 Cast and Character Guide | Photos
Image
“Reasonable Doubt” Season 2 is headed back into the courtroom, and the cast, as well as the slew of new additions are ready to put it in session.

It’s been a minute since Season 1 of “Reasonable Doubt,” and between Jax getting kidnapped by a deranged client-turned-lover and her bestie Shanelle (Shannon Kane) seemingly murdering her husband, there’s no telling what’s about to go down in Season 2. But the series brought in veteran actor Morris Chestnut, who will star as defense attorney Corey Cash, to help lift the load.

Other newcomers to the series include Essence Atkins, who will star as a domestic violence expert named Dr. Brandy Michaels; Melissa Ponzio, who plays a new District Attorney named Lucy Wargo; Vaughn W. Hebron, who will star as an ex-NFL player and Jt’s (Shannon’s now-dead husband) mentee named Adrian Hunter; and Kandi Burris, who will play Eboni Phillips,...

Kerry Washington executive produces alongside Pilar Savone for Simpson Street, Larry Wilmore via Wilmore Films and Anton Cropper. Shawn Holley, Jon Leshay, Tamara Gregory, Lena Cordina, Tash Gray and Resheida Brady serve as co-executive producers.

Paramount+ purges additional content including Inside Amy Schumer, Fantasy Football and Nickelodeon shows
Image
After a year of questionable decisions from streaming services that involve password sharing, app overhauls, advertisement tiers, removal of content and so on, the bubble is somewhat bursting as companies look to regain profitability through the purging of shows. It was not long ago that news broke about the streaming platform, Paramount+, canceling a number of projects, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Game and Queen of the Universe. Not only is the streamer canceling these movies and shows, but they’re removing the titles from the application as well to reap the benefits of a content write-down.

Deadline now reports that more shows have been put on the chopping block over at Paramount+. One of the bigger names that is getting purged is the return of the sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer, which had returned to continue its run with a fifth season in six years.

Paramount+ Purge Continues With ‘Inside Amy Schumer’, ‘Fantasy Football’ & Nickelodeon Content Scrapped
Amy Schumer in Inside Amy Schumer (2013)
Inside Amy Schumer returned to Paramount+ after six years for its fifth season – a season that Paramount was hoping could score an Emmy nomination to compete against the likes of SNL and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

However, Emmy voters hoping to take a last minute watch on Paramount+ before tonight’s voting deadline will have been disappointed after it was one of the latest titles to be scrapped from the streaming service.

Paramount+ has purged a phalanx of programming today including a number of original series, original movies and Nickelodeon content.

The low-profile move comes after Paramount revealed last week that it was canceling and scrapping four series: Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Game and Queen of the Universe.

Inside Amy Schumer is joined by From Cradle to Stage, a docuseries directed by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl and based on his mother’s book,...
