I, Madman and Sugar Hill are returning to Blu-ray in June as spines #31 and #32, respectively, in Kino Lorber‘s Kino Cult line.

1989 supernatural slasher I, Madman will be released on June 17.

Tibor Takács (The Gate) directs from a script by David Chaskin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge). Jenny Wright, Clayton Rohner, and Randall William Cook star.

Betty Anne Rees, who portrayed tough women who weren’t very nice in The Unholy Rollers and Sugar Hill, two 1970s offerings from the B-movie factory American International Pictures, has died. She was 81.

Rees died Monday at her home in Hemet, California, after a series of falls and a possible stroke, her niece, Kathleen Loucks, told The Hollywood Reporter. She also was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the early 1990s.

The Ohio native played Janet Ingram, the secretary for Fred MacMurray’s Steve Douglas, on the last of My Three Sons’ 12 seasons in 1971-72. (Abby Dalton was Janet on an episode three years earlier.)

In The Unholy Rollers (1972), directed by Vernon Zimmerman, Rees portrayed Mickey Martinez, a star of the Los Angeles Avengers roller derby team who does not get along with popular new player Karen Walker (1970 Playboy Playmate of the Year Claudia Jennings).

"All in the Family" might've been Norman Lear's finest half-hour as a sitcom producer, but I'm not sure he ever put a funnier show on the airwaves than "The Jeffersons." For 11 seasons, Sherman Hemsley's dry-cleaning magnate George Jefferson and Isabel Sanford's good-hearted Louise "Weezy" Jefferson led a stellar cast that delivered edgy-for-network-television laughs revolving around race, class, gender, and whatever happened to be grinding the hot-headed George's gears that particular week. It was the African-American answer to "All in the Family" (on which the characters of George and Weezy originated), and might actually be more shocking today for its fearless deployment of the n-word (particularly early in the series' run).

And if you're making a list of the most memorable theme songs in television history, "The Jeffersons" better be in the top five. Anyone who grew up watching the show in prime time or via syndication should...

Blaxploitation Horror was a hot item in the ‘70s; in the aftermath of the initial wave of the Civil Rights Movement and a desperate lack of exploitation films portraying the Black experience, horror turned its lens towards an untapped audience. Black people wanted (and deserved) to see themselves up on the Saturday night screens and drive-ins across North America. A spin-off of Norman Lear's All in the Family, The Jeffersons ran for 11 seasons on CBS. The cast includes Isabel Sanford, Sherman Hemsley, Mike Evans, Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover, Marla Gibbs, Zara Cully, Berlinda Tolbert, Paul Benedict, Damon Evans, and Jay Hammer.

It was a top-rated show for many years. Unfortunately, The Jeffersons was unceremoniously cancelled in 1985 and a true series finale was never made. Hemsley recalls that he found out about the cancellation by reading about it in the newspaper.

Sadly, the cast never recorded a reunion special and most of the castmembers are gone now. Hemsley and Sanford did reunite several times over the years in commercials and various cameos.
