FBI: International Season 4, Episode 14, "A Winged Lion for Protection" is the first episode to air since CBS cancelled the series, and it shows both the untapped potential and why the network may have come to that decision. The Riley Quinn storyline comes to an end just as awkwardly as it started, and the major guest star is wasted. But there's also some solid work from the core cast, and a welcome return by a past character, even if he's not the Fly Team's friend.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday was a bonkers sequel that took the simple masked slasher movie franchise to new heights (or new depths?). The early 90s film that attempted to end the franchise was hated by critics and very divisive with fans. However, now you can get the full story of what the creative people were thinking as director Adam Marcus recalls being a bright-eyed, fresh-faced film student who was given the keys to the kingdom and didn’t exactly know what to do with the newly purchased property from New Line Cinema. The trailer for Hearts of Darkness: The Making of The Final Friday is now here.
Marcus has spoken directly with fans as he announced that the documentary is “almost 2 hours long.” The Blu-ray edition will feature “another 2 hours of goodness that we could not fit in a theatrical feature film! Oh yeah! We’ve got...

The Friday the 13th franchise started as a way to cash in on the success of Halloween, and several Jason movies have matched up to the John Carpenter classic in terms of success. Director Sean S. Cunningham took an ad out in Variety calling it "The Most Terrifying Film Ever Made," all before the movie even had a plot, according to Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th. Other films had the same goal of matching up a camp setting or day on the calendar to a slasher killer, but they never had the pure effect of Friday the 13th.
With writing that feels organic to the characters and the time period, Friday the 13th set a precedent that 11 follow-up movies have tried to match or top. These movies brought more victims to Crystal Lake for Jason Vorhees to dispatch. Soon, the Jason movies took him away from the lake setting,...

Before you dart toward the comments to argue that George Huang’s How to Make a Monster isn’t a remake, let me explain why it’s my focus this month.
In 2001, legendary special effects artist Stan Winston co-produced a series of made-for-cable “remakes” alongside Colleen Camp and Lou Arkoff based on Aip horror flicks of the 1950s. They were all monster films based on Samuel Z. Arkoff properties (Lou’s father) under the banner “Creature Features.” Winston developed these films for Cinemax and HBO, where they’d haunt late-night rotations. He even turned his “Creature Features” villains into a toy line, although sales were underwhelming because the figures released out of synch with each premiere.
I used quotations around “remakes” above because 2001’s How to Make a Monster is a remake by title only. Herbert L. Strock’s 1958 original is about a makeup effects artist who uses his secret foundation recipe to control actors.

Desperate Housewives cast is open to returning for a revival, hinting at a potential comeback with original characters front and center. A potential revival would need to honor the show's rich history and original cast, rather than wiping the slate clean for a reboot. Wisteria Lane and its core characters were essential to the show's success, making a comeback without them seem like a pale imitation.
Desperate Housewives is one of few shows where the cast is still interested in returning following a long and successful run, but it would only work under one condition. The hit drama focused on the lives and loves of a group of women living in the fictional Wisteria Lane. Each of the eight seasons had an overarching mystery that left many questions about what was happening behind closed doors for the cul-de-sac's residents. The following contains major spoilers for FBI: International Season 3, Episode 12, "Gift," which debuted Tuesday, May 14 on CBS.
As a standalone episode, FBI: International Season 3, Episode 12, "Gift" is a very solid hour of television. It features an intriguing if slightly convoluted case of the week, and is elevated to impressive status by its top-tier guest cast. Entering into his second Dick Wolf franchise, actor Colin Donnell steals the show as hard-nosed Nsa liaison Brian Lange, doing things that he normally hasn't been able to elsewhere. But this isn't a standalone episode -- it's dealing with the elephant in the room.
Original star Luke Kleintank has exited the series, and apparently FBI: International Season 3, Episode 11, "Touts" really was Kleintank's last episode, because he doesn't appear at all in "Gift" (despite promos making it look as if he might). That means a fair amount of time is spent on asking where Kleintank's character Scott Forrester is,...

Star Trek: Enterprise's third season introduced MACOs to the ship for a darker storyline in the wake of 9/11. MACOs comprised specially trained high ranking officers and provided advanced combat skills and weaponry to Starfleet. American actor Steven Culp played Major J. Star Trek: Enterprise season 3 introduced the military organization MACOs. First airing in 2001, Star Trek: Enterprise documented Earth's initial first contacts and voyages into deep space. Echoing significant societal events of the time, Enterprise season 3 took on a noticeably darker tone. Transitioning from standalone episodes to a complex and weighty season-long serial arc, a devastating attack on Earth by the mysterious Xindi landed Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) with a heavy responsibility for establishing contact and preventing (or intercepting) further attacks. Star Trek: Nemesis had a deleted alternate ending that revealed the new First Officer of the USS Enterprise. Commander Martin Madden is introduced as the replacement for Captain Riker. The alternate ending also shows Captain Picard trying out his new Captain's chair and launching the Enterprise on a new mission.
The final Star Trek: The Next Generation movie, Star Trek: Nemesis, had a deleted alternate ending where Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) met the new First Officer of the USS Enterprise-e who replaced Captain William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Star Trek: Nemesis' theatrical cut ended with the death of Lt. Commander Data (Brent Spiner) and Captain Picard realizing that an aspect of Data lives on in his imperfect android brother, B-4. However, a longer and different sequence was filmed that wrapped up other plot points in Star Trek: Nemesis, such as who takes over for Riker as Picard's new Number One.

This past Sunday, August 13th, marked the thirtieth anniversary of one of the most divisive entries in the Friday the 13th franchise, 1993’s Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (Watch It Here – OWN It Here). To mark the occasion, Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus took to social media to announce that an epic documentary on the film, Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday, is almost finished!
Marcus said, “The picture is locked. Our soundtrack is just days away from completion. It will only have to go through Color Timing next week, Sound Mix the week after and then has to be seen by our legal team (Larry Zerner in Jason’s house!) and then we’re done! In one of the stranger coincidences of the 2022-23 TV season, two medical dramas said their goodbyes on Tuesday — New Amsterdam on NBC and The Resident on Fox. It was a series finale for the former; as much as creator/showrunner David Schulner and Executive Producer Peter Horton didn’t think their five-year-old series should be canceled, they had enough time to plan a hopeful ending for the Ryan Eggold starrer.
After six seasons on Fox, The Resident hasn’t been canceled … yet. But Tuesday’s finale dubbed “All Hands On Deck” had all the makings of a final farewell. Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) got his happy ending by declaring his love for Dr. Billie Sutton (Jessica Lucas). Dr. Ian Sullivan (Andrew McCarthy) came clean about his drug addiction and got to keep his job at Chastain Memorial after saving young Sammie, the granddaughter of Dr. Bell (Bruce Greenwood...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Resident Season 6 finale, “All Hands on Deck.”] If this is how The Resident goes out, it does so on a happy note. Among the highlights: Conrad (Matt Czuchry) and Billie (Jessica Lucas) say, “I love you.” The doctors save Bell’s (Bruce Greenwood) granddaughter Sammie and Governor Betz (Steven Culp) — and, therefore, the hospital (thanks to their deal). Bell is entering Devon’s (Manish Dayal) Ms trial. Devon proposes to Leela (Anuja Joshi), who becomes an attending. Showrunner Andrew Chapman explains why that felt like a series finale and shares what we could see if Season 7 is picked up. What can you say about a Season 7? Andrew Chapman: Fingers crossed. We just don’t know. I don’t think that Fox knows. I don’t think anybody really knows. They hold out the possibility, but they won’t pick us up yet. We probably won’t know until April or May.

Has Chastain been saved? Things are looking up in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of The Resident Season 6 finale, airing January 17 …. until they’re not. In the penultimate episode of the season (series?! Fox has yet to renew the medical drama), Governor Betz (Steven Culp), responsible for slashing the hospital’s budget, was brought in as a patient following a helicopter crash. While treating him, the doctors discovered he’d been hiding a couple heart attacks, and long story short, he needed a transplant. Understandably, he didn’t want to be at Chastain and they didn’t want him there. But he couldn’t be transferred. However, he offered a solution to Aj (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) that would help everyone: He’d save Chastain, restoring the money that’s been cut from his discretionary fund, if he was moved to the top of the transplant list. And Aj made that happen.

Chastain Park Memorial Hospital is now a public hospital on The Resident, so it needs government funding, but the new governor has it out for them. Dr. Kit Voss (Jane Leeves) was worried when Mark Betz (Steven Culp) ran for governor because he threatened to slash their funding. So when he won, Kit and Dr. Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood) met him in what they thought was a private meeting, turning out to be a press conference. Kit was diplomatic, but Bell decided to call him out on his Medicaid fraud and how Betz paid for his campaign.
Instead of convincing the governor to keep their funding, Bell just made things worse. In The Resident season 5, episode 8, Bell was sued for malpractice. While the case was solid, Bell had skeletons in his closet that were being exposed. Kit tried to reason with the governor, but there was no reasoning with him.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Resident Season 6 Episode 12, “All the Wiser.”] “You can’t be serious,” Dr. Kit Voss (Jane Leeves) says upon seeing the report that Governor Betez’s (Steven Culp) helicopter crashed blocks from Chastain. But as a result, The Resident‘s penultimate episode features a solution that may keep the hospital up and running — if the doctors are willing to make a deal with the devil. Also in the hour, Ian (Andrew McCarthy) returns from rehab — [insert lie here] as he continues to keep it a secret from everyone except his daughter, Cade (Kaley Ronayne) — and Bell (Bruce Greenwood) gets some good news about his medical future, thanks to Devon (Manish Dayal). Plus, did The Resident just go from Conrad (Matt Czuchry) and Cade and Billie (Jessica Lucas) and James (Ian Anthony Dale) to Conrad and Billie and Cade and James successfully in one episode? Maybe. Governor Mark Betz (Steven Culp) is probably going to wish he’d been a lot nicer to Dr. Kit Voss (Jane Leeves), Dr. Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood), and Chastain in the penultimate episode of The Resident Season 6. As you can see in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of January 10’s “All the Wiser,” he ends up a patient in the ER. Devon (Manish Dayal) and Feldman (Tasso Feldman) are the first doctors to start meeting the patients of a helicopter crash. Cade (Kaley Ronayne) and James (Ian Anthony Dale), then Conrad (Matt Czuchry) and Billie (Jessica Lucas) arrive to help — they’ll need everyone — but Feldman has one of the best lines of the season when he remarks, “it’s like musical chairs around here.” After all, until the previous episode, Conrad, Cade, Billie, and James were together. Conrad and Devon meet the next ambulance, carrying the pilot, and...

The Resident didn’t just end its 2022 episodes with Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) and Dr. Billie Sutton (Jessica Lucas) kissing. The Fox medical drama also set up quite a few storylines for the final three episodes of Season 6. There’s still the matter of Dr. Kit Voss’s (Jane Leeves) and Dr. Randolph Bell’s (Bruce Greenwood) fight against the governor (Steven Culp), who’s eager to slash the hospital’s budget and personally go after Bell for what he said in front of the press. There’s Padma (Aneesha Joshi), who was last seen standing on the edge of a bridge. Showrunner Andrew Chapman shares what to expect. Bell’s worried about his Ms progressing. Is it? Or is it just the stress? Andrew Chapman: That’s the thing — not to play both sides — that’s so interesting and complicated about Ms. Sometimes Ms progresses if you lead an entirely stress-free life.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Resident Season 6 Episode 9, “No Pressure No Diamonds.”] Unfortunately, Dr. Kit Voss (Jane Leeves) didn’t scare off Governor Betz (Steven Culp), and he’s just making things worse for Dr. Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood) on The Resident. His latest move, following that lawsuit, was an article with the headline “Dangerous Doctor at Chastain.” That comes just as Bell is set to perform a risky surgery on one of Dr. Devon Pravesh’s (Manish Dayal) patients: the implantation of a titanium rib cage. What’s more: a documentary crew is going to film it. It’s not only good for the partnership Devon, through his clinical trials, is getting going with a robotics company (that made the ribs), but it would be good publicity for Chastain as well — at a time that it could use it with Betz slashing its budget. Kit only agrees to it being filmed if they...

Making enemies with the new governor (Steven Culp) is proving to be a major problem for Dr. Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood) on The Resident. Betz has enlisted a spy at Chastain and is digging up dirt on Bell (specifically looking for possible lawsuits), and now, in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, the surgeon is served court papers from a former patient while receiving the Lifetime of Service Award for how much he’s meant to the hospital! In the November 15 episode, Bell is honored as “someone who has done more for Chastain than perhaps any other one person. He has saved more lives than could possibly be counted….” And the staff is in attendance. "The West Wing" is widely considered to be one of the best shows of all time. Aaron Sorkin's political drama follows the Bartlet Administration through two terms in the White House. For seven seasons we watched Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen), his family, and advisors or assistants — that began to feel like our own family — navigated a constantly shifting political landscape. Premiering in 1999, "The West Wing" fell at the beginning of what we now call the Golden Age of Television and arguably led to high-profile shows like "24," "House of Cards," "Veep," and "The Crown."
"The West Wing" racked up an impressive 26 Primetime Emmy wins and 95 nominations, despite steep competition from chief rival "The Sopranos." With former politicians like Dee Dee Myers and Elie Attie serving as contributors and writers, the show boasted an impressive level of authenticity. Though some have blamed its overly optimistic portrayal of politics for setting...

Teri Hatcher is currently starring as Morticia Adams in a production of The Addams Family, according to Playbill. This is a very different role from Hatcher's Desperate Housewives sweet mother and artist Susan Mayer, who lives on idyllic yet creepy Wisteria Lane with her best friends. The show did a great job proving that life in suburbia is not always perfect, and everyone has secrets that they don't wish to share with those close to them. For 8 seasons, Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria), Susan, and Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) mourn their late friend Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) and deal with different kinds of drama.

Jason finally discovered where all his teammates stood.
The court-martial that should never have happened still took place on Seal Team Season 4 Episode 11.
Because of the no-contact order, Jason was beset with worst-case scenarios, having no idea if his Bravo teammates, especially Ray, would have his back.
It was heartening to see that, unlike during the beginning days of the trial on Seal Team Season 4 Episode 10, Lt. Commander Williams, Jason's Jag lawyer, finally decided to do her damn job.
Back then, based solely on a grainy cell phone video, she urged Jason to "take the deal," like he was a gangbanger caught with an eight-ball of cocaine instead of a highly decorated special operator.
It wasn't clear what brought on this much-needed change of heart. Likely it was because Jason was facing a murder charge after word got out that the op led to a revenge killing of the man who tortured Ray.

Her daughter, actress Kaitlin Hopkins, paid tribute to Knight in a lengthy Facebook post.
Knight continued to work as she approached 80, reprising her role as Mom in “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” in 2015 after appearing in the 2009 original.
In 1997’s “As Good as It Gets,” starring Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt, Knight played the mother of Hunt’s character; the New York Times called her performance “tenderly funny.”
Other film credits of recent vintage include Luis Mandoki’s “Angel Eyes” (2001), starring Jennifer Lopez; thriller “The Salton Sea” (2002); “Grandma’s Boy” (2006); Rebecca Miller’s “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” (2009), with Robin Wright; “Our Idiot Brother” (2011), toplined by...

(Spoilers ahead for the entirety of “American Horror Story: 1984”)
It’s finally, mercifully, time for me to move on from “Ahs: 1984.” The season ended this week, after a season that somehow managed to establish a new standard for being all over the place for a series that is best known at this point for being all over the place. That’s quite an accomplishment, but not really a good one.
Before I can forget all of this ever happened, I have a laundry list of things that happened in “Ahs: 1984” that were super irritating and frustrating to watch, and I feel like I’m gonna go crazy if I don’t try to share this madness with our dear readers. So let’s do this. I have 18 items right now. I’ll probably add some more because I keep thinking of new ones.
