Carrie Coon couldn’t tease much about The Gilded Age Season 3, but she had one particular group of people to thank for keeping the show going.
During an interview for The White Lotus Season 3 premiere, Coon thanked “the gays” for their support in renewing the Julian Fellowes-created drama.
“The gays saved it,” Coon joked with Entertainment Tonight. “Thank you, right now, you saved it. We would not have a season three without you.”
The Gilded Age was renewed for a third season days after Season 2 concluded in December 2023, following solid ratings for the period drama. According to HBO, total premiere-night viewing for the season grew for six consecutive weeks, culminating in a series high for the Season 2 finale.
The third season of the drama is currently filming. The cast additions include Bill Camp as Jp Morgan, Merritt Wever as Monica O’Brien, Leslie Uggams as Mrs. Ernestine Brown, Lisagay Hamilton as Frances Ellen Watkins Harper,...

Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Severance season 2, episode 1Severance season 2 is everything I expected it would be and more. Before getting into the episode, it's important to note that season 1 was released back in 2022. Due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, work on the show was delayed, and we're only now getting season 2. I've had an issue with this era of streaming shows where projects debut to massive success and then disappear for a couple of years or more before returning. This can lead to interest waning, especially for shows just starting. Luckily, Severance allows us to adjust to its in-universe changes.
Severance is a psychological thriller series featuring Adam Scott as Mark Scout, an employee at Lumon Industries who undergoes a "severance" procedure to separate his work and personal memories. However, as work and life personas mysteriously begin to collide, it quickly becomes clear that not all is as it seems.

Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette) is one of the most important characters in Severance. In addition to Arquette, the cast of Severance includes Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, and Christopher Walken, all of whom return for the long-awaited season 2. When season 1 was released in 2022, the Apple TV+ show received critical acclaim, and it is still regarded as one of the best series on the streaming platform.

The Gilded Age season 3 is on the way, and the continuing popularity of the historical drama makes it a surefire hit. Debuting on its original network of NBC in 2022, The Gilded Age is written and created by Julian Fellowes, known for the hit series Downton Abbey. With a cast that includes multiple theater veterans and classically trained actors, The Gilded Age brings the nuance of Fellowess other shows to Americas industrial boom in the late 1800s specifically to the New York industrialists and socialites that thrived (and fell) during this unique point in history.
The series has been a critical darling throughout its first two seasons, and The Gilded Age season 2 actually surpassed its predecessor with a Rotten Tomatoes score of over 90%. You might think that The Gilded Age, HBO's mannered period drama about feather-light conflict between members of the upper crust in 1880s New York City, doesn't have anything in common with Gen V, a spinoff of The Boys where college students get their heads lasered off by sociopathic superheroes. And you'd be right...except for one thing: both of them are greatly expanding their casts ahead of their new seasons: that's season 3 for The Gilded Age and season 2 for Gen V.
Let's start with The Gilded Age, which counts the likes of Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, Taissa Farmiga, and Harry Richardson among its cast. Deadline reports on six new cast members coming aboard for season 3, some of them playing real-life figures from the time:

The Gilded Age Season 3 is currently in production in New York. Fans got their first glimpse of Season 3 footage in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip in an HBO teaser dropped on August 4, showing Bertha (Carrie Coon) and Marian (Louisa Jacobson) and more in the new episodes. And the series has slowly been announcing more new cast members as production presses on. Recent casting updates reveal that the women’s suffrage movement and Bertha’s family history will both be topics this season, and more historical figures are going to be depicted. One character description also hints that there will be scenes set in England for the very first time. Could that be because Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) marries the English Duke of Buckingham after all? The Good Wife‘s Dylan Baker, Broadway’s Kate Baldwin, Michael Cumpsty of Severance, John Ellison Conlee from Boardwalk Empire, Bobby Steggert from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,...

This article contains spoilers for the "Barry" series finale.
Hollywood and the truth aren't on speaking terms; it's a business founded on make-believe, after all. That's why it's the perfect setting for "Barry." I've written before that the series questions whether people can truly change, and its answer is that most settle for just pretending to be somebody else. Reckoning with the truth can be hard, and the series' epilogue shows how yet another comforting lie won out over reality.
The last scene of the series is John Berkman (Jaeden Martell), the teenage son of Barry (Bill Hader) and Sally (Sarah Goldberg), watching "The Mask Collector" — a highly inaccurate, sensationalized version of his father's life and how it intertwined with the life of acting teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler). "Barry" has always had a satirical outlook on the entertainment industry, and "The Mask Collector" — an overt critique of the true-crime...

Title: Downtown Express Director: David Grubin Starring: Philippe Quint, Nellie McKay, Michael Cumpsty, Ashley Springer, Carolyn McCormick An old-fashioned, squarely sentimental immigrants’ tale that marries a familiar story of generational rebellion to the New York hipster fusion music scene, director David Grubin’s “Downtown Express” is a wide-eyed if not particularly adroit charmer. If its awkward cycling through various stodgy subplots and general lack of a more starkly defined contrast and stakes mark it as somewhat lazy and functional on a narrative level, its relative freshness of setting — as well as the fact that its music absolutely sings — makes the movie a marginal recommendation for those with an interest in musically-focused cinema. Christian Borle, an actor you may remember from that song-and-dance eBay commercial, won his first Tony Award Sunday night, for Best Featured Actor In A Play.
Borle, a stage and television actor known for his comedic chops, was recognized for his work as The Black Stache, Captain Hook's younger self, in the Peter Pan prequel, "Peter and the Starcatcher." His British accented performance beat out a roster of nominees who primarily hail from England, including Michael Cumpsty of the Judy Garland biodrama "End of the Rainbow," Tom Edden from "One Man, Two Guvnors" and Andrew Garfield from "Death Of A Salesman," as well as the lone other American, Jeremy Shamos of "Clybourne Park."
Borle kept his acceptance speech short and sweet, singling out only his co-star Kevin Del Aguila, who plays Smee, and the Tony Awards committee for making his mother very happy.

End of the Rainbow Belasco Theatre, NY
Dedicated fans of the great, late Judy Garland are likely to a feel a thrill at seeing their ill-fated idol briefly brought back to life in End of the Rainbow. Tracie Bennett blossoms as the Judy who is unknowingly living the last months of her life while Michael Cumpsty makes for a sympathetic complement to her floating flourish, but they are the only two flowers to hold their color in this otherwise wilting arrangement.
Bennett enters the stage as the undisputed Judy Garland, unconcerned with hitting the marks of an impersonation but rather focused on evading the jaws of addiction and self-destruction that will eventually consume her. She moves naturally, breathing Judy's breath, moving Judy's body, bouncing with the compulsive energy of a performer that finds it near impossible to allow herself to be "off."

The 2012 Tony Award nominations were announced this morning by Kristin Chenoweth and Jim Parsons, with the musicals leading the pack. "Once" -- adapted from the popular indie film -- came out on top with 11 nominations, The Gershwins' "Porgy and Bess" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It," both also musicals, trailed close behind with 10 a piece, and "Follies" and "Newsies" took a respectable eight each.
"Peter and the Starcatcher" picked up nine nominations, the most for a play, edging out this year's closest thing to a favorite, Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman," which gained seven. Philip Seymour Hoffman predictably earned a nod for his turn as Willy Loman in "Salesman," alongside fellow big names James Earl Jones ("The Best Man") and John Lithgow ("The Columnist"). Ricky Martin's divisive portrayal of Che in "Evita" got no love. "Evita," however, did snatch three nods, including one for best revival of a musical.

Martyrs are dying all over Broadway this season: We have at least two bleeding Jesi on deck (at last count), and now comes the Passion of Judy Garland, incarnated in all her latter-day volatility by Olivier-winner Tracie Bennett. Peter Quilter’s End of the Rainbow is a strange hybrid: an utterly conventional stage entertainment (i.e., the worshipful, wet-to-the-touch bio-rama wedged tight with informative wiki-asides) crowned with an obliterating performance that verges on performance art. We pick up Judy’s story in the last year of her life, in 1968, at a five-week cabaret engagement at London’s Talk of the Town nightclub. The action swivels from her increasingly erratic stage performances to the squalor and hysteria of her hotel suite, which she shares with her soon-to-be-fifth (and final) husband, the grimly closeted hipster opportunist Mickey Deans (Tom Pelphrey); a piano; and a piano player, Anthony (Michael Cumpsty), the compassionate composite...
