‘Terminus’ Blu-ray Review (Mvd Rewind)
Image
Stars: Karen Allen, Jürgen Prochnow, Johnny Hallyday, Gabriel Damon, Julie Glenn | Written and Directed by Pierre-William Glenn

Dystopian futures make for great entertainment. We have seen so many of these amazing films. Films like Planet of the Apes, Blade Runner, Mad Max, The Book of Eli, The Terminator and even the X-Men found themselves in a dystopian future in Days of Future Past. In the 1980s and 1990s, there were so many low-budget sci-fi dystopian future films. Admittedly, most of these are pretty bad films. But there are some of them that fall into the category of “So bad it’s Good!” One such film is 1987’s Terminus.

Terminus has not seen a North American home video release, that is, until now! Enter Mvd Rewind Collection. They have rescued this sci-fi cult classic and have given it a chance to shine on ‘retro’ Blu-ray. And I personally couldn’t be more excited for this release.

Star Trek: Tng Forgot About Worf's Other "Brother"
Image
Worf's Klingon heritage conflicted with his Starfleet duties, leading to touching moments like the bonding ritual with Jeremy. After Worf's mother's death, he bonds with Jeremy, who blames him, in a heartfelt and emotional episode of Tng. Jeremy's fate is never revealed after "The Bonding," as producers considered bringing him back but ultimately decided against it.

Lt. Worf (Michael Dorn) had another "brother" on Star Trek: The Next Generation, but he only appeared in one episode before being forgotten. As the only Klingon in Starfleet, Worf often struggled to reconcile his duties as a Starfleet officer with his Klingon culture. As Chief of Security on the USS Enterprise-d, Lt. Worf performed his role well and Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) often encouraged Worf to explore his Klingon heritage. Throughout Tng's seven seasons, Worf learned more about his Klingon family, eventually meeting his biological brother, Kurn (Tony Todd).

In Star Trek: The Next Generation...

Ronald D. Moore's First Star Trek Episode Foreshadowed His DS9 & Battlestar Galactica Future
Image
Writing "The Bonding" for St: Tng was a pivotal moment for Ronald D. Moore, setting the stage for his darker, character-driven work on future shows. Moore's focus on Klingon culture in Tng & DS9 laid the groundwork for his exploration of complex political and moral conflicts in Battlestar Galactica. Moore's impact on the Star Trek franchise cannot be overstated, as his scripts for Tng and DS9 reshaped Klingon lore and deepened the exploration of death and grief in the Trek universe.

Ronald D. Moore's first Star Trek script for Star Trek: The Next Generation hinted at the types of stories he would go on to write on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Battlestar Galactica. Following the adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the USS Enterprise-d, Tng is Star Trek at its most optimistic. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry remained involved during Tng's early years, and he wanted to depict a utopian,...

How Steven Spielberg Scrapped Scary Scenes from Classic Don Bluth Movie
Image
Steven Spielberg requested some scenes from Don Bluth's The Land Before Time be removal for being too scary for children. Many classic children's movies, including Disney's The Black Cauldron and Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal, have included dark and scary elements to balance out the fun. Don Bluth believes that a good children's story should have a good villain and a scare moment.

Don Bluth is an icon in the world of animated feature films of the 1980s and beyond. From The Secret of Nimh and An American Tail to Anastasia and Titan Ae, the filmmaker and animator has been instrumental in Hollywood across his career – even if that sometimes meant him going against the grain. One of those occasions led to Steven Spielberg stepping in to remove some scenes from the classic movie The Land Before Time, which were subsequently destroyed for being “too scary for children.

Jurassic Park is undoubtedly the most famous and well-known dinosaur movie out there, a fantastic Steven Spielberg film that brought dinosaurs back from the dead to the forefront of audiences' imagination in spectacular live-action. The Best TV Shows And Movies Coming To Netflix In April 2023
Image
The sun never sets in the world of streaming. After a jam-packed March that saw both "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" series going head-to-head with "Ted Lasso" -- not to mention, the much-buzzed-about return of "Yellowjackets" and the final hurrah of the Shakespearean tragedy that is "Succession" — it seems April is angling to keep the party going. Between "Schmigadoon!" and "The Afterparty" coming back, "Barry" setting sail for the Grey Havens with its final season, and whatever the hell Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof have cooked up for us with "Mrs. Davis," next month won't be hurting for appointment TV.

Not about to be left in the dust by its competitors, Netflix has its own plans for April. In addition to its typical monthly smattering of non-exclusive titles, the streamer will be dropping a 30th anniversary "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reunion special, "Once & Always," just to make all you Millennials...

The Original Version Of The Land Before Time Was Way Too Scary For Kids
Judith Barsi, Gabriel Damon, Candace Hutson, and Will Ryan in The Land Before Time (1988)
As a child of the '90s, I experienced my first heartbreak the way countless other kids of a certain generation did: bawling my eyes out at the beginning of "The Land Before Time." Don Bluth's classic 1988 film is a lot of fun, but it's utterly poignant and terrifying too. Early on, the dinosaurs face down a Sharptooth, aka a Tyrannosaurus rex, in a harrowing scene. As if that's not enough, the herd is then separated by a massive earthquake, which grievously injures our hero Littlefoot's (Gabriel Damon) poor mama.

"The Land Before Time" kicks off its 14-film franchise with...

RoboCop 2
It’s ugly, it’s violent, it’s graphic novelist Frank Miller’s nasty vision through and through. Scream Factory’s Collector’s Edition brings out the amazing backstory of the production of this stop-motion- intensive first sequel to RoboCop. Druglord Caine is a menace, but we’re just as appalled by the film’s vivid depiction of a greater terror: Predatory Privatization.

Revisiting Star Trek Tng: The Bonding
Review James Hunt 28 Mar 2014 - 07:04

Cod philosophy and well-meaning metaphors make this week's Star Trek: Tng episode one to skip...

This review contains spoilers.

3.5 The Bonding

As the episode opens, Worf is leading an away team to the surface of a planet once inhabited by an alien race who knew only war. Unfortunately, his blatant disregard for the ship's policy of placing only the most important staff in harm's way causes problems when a long-dormant bomb explodes, killing Lieutenant Aster, the ship's archaeologist. Oh no! Who will reassemble any old pottery fragments they find now?

As they wheel Aster's corpse down to cold storage (presumably), Troi informs Picard and Worf that Aster had a son, Jeremy, who has also lost his father. Picard goes to tell Jeremy that he is now an orphan, and while Worf feels responsible, Picard makes him stay behind. Presumably he reasons that having an...

Nancy Allen, Peter Weller, Miguel Ferrer, and Kurtwood Smith in RoboCop (1987)
RoboCop in video: From the silver screen to Sega Mega Drive
Nancy Allen, Peter Weller, Miguel Ferrer, and Kurtwood Smith in RoboCop (1987)
Detroit's silver-plated cop returns to the big screen this week rebooted with a sleek black suit and The Killing's Joel Kinnaman on leading man duties. Though Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original is the most well-known incarnation of the character, he stretches far beyond movies into TV, video games and comic books.

Digital Spy takes a look back through the RoboCop video archives below...

RoboCop (1987)

With a B-movie premise, a relatively tight budget and a director in Paul Verhoeven who'd never made a movie in Hollywood before, the odds were stacked against the original RoboCop from the start. However, Verhoeven and writers Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner managed to inject the film with great action, memorable one-liners and a cutting satirical edge that commented on American culture. We'd buy that for a dollar!

RoboCop: The Animated Series (1988)

Let's face it, RoboCop is a seriously cool character that appeals to a...

Where Is The Cast Of 'Newsies' Today?
Christian Bale, Marty Belafsky, Max Casella, Aaron Lohr, Dominic Maldonado, David Moscow, and Trey Parker in Newsies (1992)
It's hard to believe "Newsies" has been around since 1992. Directed by choreographer Kenny Ortega (who you can also thank for the the "High School Musical" series), the film was a major box office flop, but later gained a cult following on home video. Now, it's been turned into a Broadway musical that has earned eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, winning Best Choreography and Best Original Score.

For those of you who have been waking up every day for the past 21 years with "Seize The Day" stuck in your head, this is for you. Scroll down to see where the cast of the beloved Disney movie is today.

David Moscow, "David Jacobs"

Oh hey, Duncan, from your favorite failed 1999 TV show "Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane." David was also in the movies "Just Married," "Honey" and "Vacancy 2: The First Cut." Fun fact: He was once engaged to Kerry Washington.

The Debut of the New Weekly Feature B-Sides is Cop Rockin'
Are you ready for something new? Are you ready to rock? Then get ready for the first edition of the new weekend movie music video feature I’m calling B-sides. For this premiere installment I’ll be bringing you a musical double feature from two different films with three things in common: part 2’s from 1990 with “cop” in the title.

So what exactly is B-sides all about? Once a week I’ll present to you a music video featuring a song from a motion picture, preferably of the b-movie persuasion. Some will be horror related, others will not, and some will just be horrifying in the sense you cannot believe someone actually recorded such a song. In some cases, as with more high profile soundtracks, the song will be presented in the form of the actual music video that aired on MTV. For more obscure offerings, the video might be...

Movies We Hate: Robocop 2
Many film outlets, including this one, tend to honor the underrated gems that go unnoticed by the general public and laud said movies as terrificly spectacular. Seldom do you see sites take a gander at the pictures that are horrid beyond belief or give kids in third world countries every ailment imaginable. This is where I’m coming in, to spew hate all over those films that try to defame goodwill movies like The Hurt Locker or Vertigo have paved.

So today, we’ll take a look a film I hate more than any other movie on the planet. It might not be the worst picture that’s ever been made, but this is a film that makes me forget the director has done much better work in the past. In fact, it’s a movie I’ve banned from existence and hope the studio does the right thing in...
