Amazon's sunsetting of the Comixology app as it merges with Amazon's Kindle hasn't gone down well with manga readers online.
Fans opened the Comixology app on Nov. 15, 2023, to find a short message stating, "We're merging with Kindle. On 12/04 we'll be retiring the Comixology app. All your content is already available on Kindle, including your current reading progress." The news pushed many members of the manga community to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustration over the end of a once-dedicated manga and comics-reading platform.
"Crumbling" Anime Industry Asks SAG-AFTRA to Speak Some Sense Into Youth
Comixology going down is awful but also important to know we no longer have a "main hub" for digital comics and manga and many other countries comics in the west. Everything has been scattered. If you don't want people to pirate, then it's a good idea to figure Something out. https://t.co/RgqsvRmJm...

Daniel leads Fremantle drama push
International television powerhouse FremantleMedia will be knocking on network doors next week offering "cost-efficient" dramas that are also proven hits in the world TV market. As part of the company's planned expansion in the U.S. drama arena, Jason Daniel has been named head of drama development at the company. "Jason will be at the forefront of our push to continue to expand our drama business in the U.S.," David Lyle, the company's entertainment president, said in announcing the appointment at a news conference Thursday in Beverly Hills. The conference was something of a show-and-tell of FremantleMedia's success during a particularly trying time for the global TV industry over the past year. Fremantle is recognized mostly for its huge stable of classic game show formats and, more recently, its hit format "American Idol", which began as "Pop Idol" in the United Kingdom. But CEO Tony Cohen stressed that the company has a broad range of genres, including hugely successful dramas, that it now will look to bring Stateside.
