‘Extra’ EP Theresa Coffino to Exit After 26 Years
Image
Longtime “Extra” executive producer Theresa Coffino will be departing her role after 26 years.

Coffino, who oversaw daily operations on the Warner Bros. Unscripted Television-produced show, will soon exit her role as executive producer as she shifts her attention to producing true crime documentaries, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. As Coffino exits, showrunner and EP Jeremy Spiegel will remain on board to lead the show when “Extra” returns for Season 32 in the fall.

“After 26 years at ‘Extra,’ I’m moving on from my role as executive producer at the show to pursue my passion for producing true crime documentaries,” Coffino said in a statement. “I’m proud to have led this incredible team with great partners, and contributed to a show that’s meant so much to so many. We’ve built such a wonderful family here and I’m deeply grateful to have worked alongside some of the best people in the business.

Will Days of our Lives Publish Stephanie’s Novel?
Image
On the May 1 episode of Days of our Lives, Alex found a novel that Stephanie had been secretly writing. She helpfully labeled it One Stormy Night: A Novel by Stephanie Johnson. For some reason, she printed it out, bound it, and then left it lying around. The soap also mentioned it again on the May 7 episode. We don’t know what Stephanie has planned for this project, but we do wonder what Days might have planned for it.

Please Note: Soap Hub may receive a commission on orders placed through retail links.

Tie-In Types

If Days plans to publish One Stormy Night in the “real” world, they wouldn’t be the first to do so. Back in 1984, when Another World’s romance novelist, Felicia Gallant (Linda Dano), penned “Dreamweaver,” a story based on Bay City gossip, the book was released as an actual romance novel. Marci Walsh (Kathy Brier) wrote the murder mystery,...

After All My Children Reboot Talk, Another World Alums Weigh In On Possibility
Image
In light of the news that All My Children is potentially being rebooted as a holiday movie on Lifetime, Soap Hub reached out to a few of your favorite Another World alums to see their thoughts about the potential to bring their show back.

Aw History

Aw aired on NBC from May 4, 1964, to June 25, 1999. The show also had two spinoffs: Somerset, which aired from 1970-1976, and Texas, which aired from 1980-1982.

Joe Barbara (Joe)

How would you feel about Aw being rebooted as a movie? I’d love to see the show rebooted as a movie. My first question would be who’s going to write it? Which “Joe Carlino” would they have in mind… the original one who came on as a renegade and took risks? Or the eventual one who told everyone they needed to follow the rules…?

Where do you see Joe at this stage of his life?...

Daytime Emmys flashback: 3rd time was the charm for dastardly Michael Zaslow (‘Guiding Light’) 30 years ago
Image
“I want to thank my wife, my partner in life — Susan Hufford — who made this possible. Not only this, but all the good things in my life since I met her. And I tell you this not only because it’s true, but because she told me to tell you. Because she said that’s what David Canary and Peter Bergman always say.”

Those were the heartfelt words of Michael Zaslow of “Guiding Light” as he accepted the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actor in 1994. It was his third time in as many years vying for the prize for his part as Springfield’s most reviled citizen, Roger Thorpe. Zaslow had played Roger from 1971 to 1980, and resumed the role in 1989. He seemed genuinely surprised when Linda Dano (the 1993 Daytime Emmy winner for Best Actress for “Another World”) read his name.

Daytime Emmys flashback: Hillary B. Smith (‘One Life to Live’) won 30 years ago for defending the indefensible
Image
When the nominations for the 21st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced in 1994, one outcome was immediately made certain. There was no way that Susan Lucci of “All My Children” could lose … Because for the first time in 13 years, she wasn’t in the running for Best Actress for her role as Erica Kane.

The snub caught everyone in the industry by surprise, especially since Lucci was considered to have had a remarkable year on the show.

Those selected in lieu of Lucci in 1994 included her “All My Children” co-star Julia Barr as Brooke English, the Daytime Emmys’ reigning Best Actress Linda Dano as Felicia Gallant on “Another World,” Fiona Hutchison as Jenna Bradshaw on “Guiding Light,” Hillary B. Smith as Nora Gannon on “One Life to Live” and Kathleen Widdoes as Emma Snyder on “As the World Turns.” It...

Another World Alum Linda Dano Provides Exciting Insight Into Reunion Event
Image
The NBC daytime drama, Another World (Aw) first aired on May 4, 1964. Created by soap icons William J. Bell and Irna Phillips, it centered around life in the small town of Bay City.

Sadly, the show was canceled in June 1999, and while it’s been gone for a while, it has been far from forgotten by fans.

Hallmark's A Little Daytime Drama brings three former soap stars together in which they play pivotal roles within the setting of a struggling daytime drama.

Jen Lilley, Ryan Paevey, and Linda Dano give this soap-based story real gravitas.

We had the chance to chat with former Days of Our Lives and General Hospital actress, Jen, to discuss the movie and check in with her about her substantial work with the foster care system in the U.S.

It's so exciting that Hallmark is finally moving away from wineries and baked goods, isn't it?

[laughs] Stop it. That's so funny. But then I love a good winery or baked goods movie, but sure. I'm excited about this one. It's a bit different.

[laughs] Yeah. Tell me about it. Obviously, I haven't seen it, so I'm leaving it in your hands to give us the rundown of what to expect.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers Week of 6-07-21: Lumi Vs Ejami Round 1!
Greg Vaughan
You didn't think it would be easy, did you, fellow Lumi fans?

The Days of Our Lives spoiler video for the week of 6-07-21 is dedicated to Lucas and Sami's long relationship. It has everything a Lumi fan could want: flashbacks, declarations of love, and Lucas pushing for a second chance.

But there is one huge monkey wrench about to be thrown in their plans: Ej returning.

This might not be terrible news. After all, if Lumi Is endgame, the Ej problem has to be dealt with in some way or another.

And lately, Sami has been talking more like she's scared of Ej than like she's in love with him.

Obviously, she's not going to slam the door in his face when he knocks on it, but maybe she'll come to a similar realization about him as Brady did about Kristen.

Hopefully, anyway.

A new actor is also...

Days of Our Lives Round Table: Laura's Extraordinary Confession!
Linda Dano
Lani figured out who abducted her twins, Laura confessed all about her role in Gwen's life, Jake tried to cut ties with Gabi, as Susan Banks returned with visions of Ciara.

Our TV Fanatics Jack and Christine are joined by Silvananoir1 from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum, to debate the reactions to Laura and if this changes how they feel about Gwen, Susan's return, and the best and worst recasts in Salem history.

Ivan kidnapped the twins for Vivian to raise. How do you rate this twist, and what do you think of Linda Dano as Vivian?

Silvananoir1: I think we all saw this coming. Very few people would hate Elani enough to do something like this. I wasn't surprised by Vivian, she's so incredibly petty. I was surprised that Ivan took it upon himself to do it without Madame's prompting.

As for Linda Dano, I don't know her work,...
