Quentin Tarantino’s Favorite Western TV Show Was Way Better Than Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone
Image
The creation of Justified: City Primeval was only possible when prolific director Quentin Tarantino had conversations with lead actor Timothy Olyphant about a spin-off series of the original Justified series. At one point, he wanted to adapt the original 1980 City Primeval novel into a film.

This is how much he resonated with Leonard’s original story, which translated to the love for the show that it was adapted into later. According to co-showrunner Michael Dinner (via IndieWire), Olyphant was working with the director on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where they came up with the idea.

Despite his love for the Western genre of entertainment, Tarantino also once expressed how he felt about Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone series, calling it just a soap opera at its core.

'The Batman: Part II' Eyeing Early 2026 Filming Start
Image
While fans continue to raise questions about who is going to play Batman in James Gunn’s Dcu, the sequel to Robert Pattinson’s 2022 film just got a thrilling update. A new listing from Production List has confirmed that The Batman Part IIwill begin filming on January 1, 2026. The film also recently entered pre-production, meaning that sets are likely being built and schedules ironed out ahead of its official production start in less than six months. This leaves The Batman Part II with well over a year between its production start date and release date — the film is set to be released on October 1, 2027, after several rounds of delays. Matt Reeves is returning to direct with a script he wrote with Mattson Tomlin.

The Batman set the world on fire with its release in 2022. The film had been delayed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But it finally premiered to...

Image
Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part IIreceives its biggest production update yet, and fans and insiders couldn't be more excited.

Per Production List, director and co-writer Matt Reeves The Batman: Part II is officially slated to begin filming on January 1, 2026. Filming will begin at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London, UK, with pre-production prep already under way. Casting calls and crew notices are currently expected to go out some time this Fall, while supporting character and background cast announcements are expected in early 2026.

Matt Reeves' first film in his The Batman saga, which was co-written by Peter Craig, introduced Robert Pattinson's take on the Dark Knight alongside a whole new kind of grim and gritty vision of Gotham City. The film featured a star-studded ensemble cast including Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, a.k.a Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton, a.k.a.the Riddler, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot,...

The Batman - Part II Enters Pre-Production; Principal Photography Expected To Begin On January 1, 2026
Image
The Batman director Matt Reeves recently revealed that he had finally finished the script for his long-awaited sequel, which he penned alongside co-writer Mattson Tomlin.

The announcement came in the midst of concern that the movie, which does appear to be officially titled The Batman - Part II for the time being, may have been cancelled or been hit with another significant delay, with speculation continuing to mount that DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran might be planning to either introduce a brand-new take on The Dark Knight in The Brave and The Bold, or fold Robert Pattinson's BatVerse take on the iconic hero into the Dcu.

Gunn remains adamant that the plan is still to forge ahead with another actor for the Dcu's Caped Crusader, but we are clearly going to see at least one more instalment in Reeves' "Epic Crime Saga" as well, and we...

Quentin Tarantino Calling Paul Dano a “Compromise” in the 3rd Best Movie of the 21st Century Aged Poorly
Image
There Will Be Blood has widely been regarded as one of the greatest films of all time and has earned the third spot on the 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century list (via The New York Times). But Quentin Tarantino has a bone to pick with it, and it specifically has to do with Paul Dano’s performance.

The Paul Thomas Anderson directorial stars the three-time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview, and Dano plays dual roles, as Paul and Eli Sunday. Most would say that Dano was absolutely amazing in the film, but during a segment with Sky Movies, Tarantino expressed his disapproval (via James Whale Bake Sale).

Not that the performance is bad, there’s nothing bad about it, it just does seem a compromise.

While Tarantino praised the movie overall, his dismissal of such a brilliant performer sparked debate. So, let’s look at how Dano nailed the role,...

12 Best DC Black Label Comics Of All Time, Ranked
Image
With enthusiastic reviews and smashing box office receipts, James Gunn's "Superman" has revived the DC Universe for a new generation of fans. His colorful, hope-punk take on the Man of Steel seems to have struck a chord with the majority of moviegoers interested in the future of this franchise. That isn't to say there aren't those missing the dark, epic melodrama of Zack Snyder's "Justice League" or the grounded thrills of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy.

For fans in the latter camp, you're in luck. In addition to preserving films like Matt Reeves' distinct "Batman" films in their own Elseworlds continuity, Gunn has also shared that even the movies in his interconnected DC Cinematic Universe will vary wildly in terms of tone and content. There is no better example of how this dynamic will work than the comics themselves, where the mainstream stories of the DC Universe exist alongside the daring,...

'The Batman II' Writer Is Working on a New Superhero Movie Before Filming Even Begins
Image
Fans have been waiting with baiting breath for the script of The Batman II, the sequel of Matt Reeves’ 2022 hit starring Robert Pattinson. Now that Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin have finished the script, the anticipation for the film is even bigger, and so is the anticipation of what the writers are doing next. It seems like Tomlin has already started working on his next project.

On X (formerly Twitter), when a fan asked Tomlin, “If you could write about another hero, who would it be?” The scribe cryptically said, “you’ll see.” While it’s great news for fans, the question arises which hero he is writing about and whether it’ll be set in James Gunn’s Dcu or Reeves’ Elseworlds.

Ever since taking the reins of Dcu, Gunn has constantly stressed upon “script first” approach of all DC projects going forward. It’s one of the primary...

Image
Who hasn't wanted to set foot in the world of DC Comics? So long as you have superpowers, living in the constantly collapsing Metropolis or the dark and dingy Gotham City doesn't seem that bad. Lego and Batman are two peas in a pod that have worked together for years. But the latest collaboration between the two brands is bringing one of Gotham's creepiest and most iconic locations to life.

The newest collaboration between Lego and the Batman IP brings the worst-guarded prison in comic book history to life in Lego form. That's right, Arkham Asylum has finally been given the Lego set it deserves. The set has a total of 2953 pieces and comes with 16 minifigures. Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein,’ Benny Safdie’s ‘The Smashing Machine,’ Kathryn Bigelow’s ‘A House of Dynamite’ Among Stellar Venice Lineup
Image
Oscar season starts here.

With its 2025 line-up, announced Tuesday, the Venice Film Festival has (again) taken the award season pole position, with a program packed with a frankly absurd number of must-see movies.

Among the hot awards titles heading to the Lido are Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine, from A24, featuring Dwayne Johnson as two‑time UFC heavyweight champion Mark Kerr and Emily Blunt as his wife Dawn; Luca Guadagnino’s #MeToo–inspired thriller After the Hunt, for Amazon MGM Studios, starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri, will premiere out of competition; and Guillermo del Toro’s dark reimagining of Frankenstein, featuring Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth, a Netflix production.

This will mark the Venice festival debut for both Roberts and Johnson.

Netflix, which sat out Vence last year, is back in force for 2025. Alongside Frankenstein, the streamer has Noah Baumbach’s comedy‑drama Jay Kelly,...

Christopher Nolan Rejected WB’s Riddler Pitch With Leonardo DiCaprio for His Wildest Film Yet
Image
After he was done creating two Batman films, Warner Bros. wanted director Christopher Nolan for a third Batman film that would have starred Leonardo DiCaprio as The Riddler.

Though the movie was initially in talks with Nolan urged to return as director and Christian Bale reprising his role of Batman, the project was later scrapped.

Nolan decided to take a break from the superhero genre to focus on other things. Well, Nolan’s decision turned out to be quite perfect, as we were later greeted with the director’s wildest film yet, Inception.

How Christopher Nolan’s Break From Batman Led To His Wildest Film

It was the year 2005 when Christopher Nolan worked with Christian Bale and Liam Neeson to create an iconic film titled Batman Begins. A sequel was soon released in 2008, starring Heath Ledger in his most prominent role as The Joker in The Dark Knight.

The 15 Best A24 Movies Ranked
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

When we typically muse on who should be considered the "author" of a film, I don't think we ever come to the conclusion of "the studio." Sure, there are some pockets of vision within the history of movie studios -- the Warner Bros. gangster picture, the Universal horror movie, the Paramount "maverick 1970s film" -- but by and large, they provide the means to the end, the money and distribution deal for directors to make their mark on culture.

A24, however, is anything but typical. Founded in 2012 by Daniel Katz, David Fenkel, and John Hodges, and named after an Italian motorway Katz was driving down, the independent movie studio has become one of the 21st century's most notable film tastemakers. It's a brand unto itself, a marker of a certain "type" of movie that indicates quality and intrigue. And even...

The Batman Part II: 5 Potential DC Comics Villains For The Sequel
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

There's been reason to doubt "The Batman Part II" would be going forward in the past few years, but the believers are looking vindicated. Writer-director Matt Reeves and his partner Mattson Tomlin announced they'd completed the sequel's script on June 27, 2025. Warner Bros. has since received the script and is apparently quite happy with it. Hence, it's seeming more and more like "The Batman Part II" will make its 2027 release date.

"The Batman" was a nearly three hour-long epic that saw Batman (Robert Pattinson) meet many of his classic foes. The main villain of the movie was the Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer out to expose corruption in Gotham. The root of said corruption was mob boss Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), who' served by gangsters like Oz "The Penguin" Cobb (Colin Farrell). Batman also met Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz...

Steven Spielberg's Reaction To A Fabelmans Scene Had Seth Rogen Thinking He Was Fired
Image
"The Fabelmans" — Steven Spielberg's latest masterpiece — is a phenomenal movie that unlocks the legendary filmmaker's entire career, a beautifully personal ode to messy parents, to creativity, to the love of cinema, but also a movie about how much it can mess someone up to be as big of a cinema prodigy as Spielberg is.

The movie, a fictionalized story about Steven Spielberg's upbringing, follows Sammy Fabelman, a kid growing up in Arizona who learns how the power of film can expose truths about his family he did not want to know, like his parents' crumbling marriage. Spielberg unsurprisingly amassed a great ensemble of character actors, including Michelle Williams and Paul Dano in the roles of his parents, Mitzi and Burt. And he also cast Seth Rogen as Bennie, the man who cuckolded his best friend, Burt, and had an affair with Mitzi.

Rogen, not necessarily an actor you'd associate with Spielberg,...

James Gunn's Two-Word Reaction to The Batman Part 2 Script Will Drive Fans Crazy
Image
James Gunn just gave an overwhelmingly positive response when asked about The Batman: Part II's script, and it's likely to drive fans crazy as they wait for more news. The sequel film is currently planning a late 2027 release.

ScreenRant asked Gunn if he had read the script for The Batman: Part II at a red carpet event for Gunn's new Superman movie. He gave a glowing but short reply: "It's great!" His response shows he's got confidence in the new movie, and it comes just weeks after director and co-writer Matt Reeves shared his own update revealing the screenplay was completed. Filming for The Batman: Part II is currently scheduled to begin by January 2026.

The upcoming Batman sequel film will see Pattinson once again donning the cowl and becoming The Dark Knight, with Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell also expected to return as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth and The Penguin respectively.

James Gunn has one thing to say about The Batman 2 (and it's a good sign)

Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin finally finished the script for The Batman 2 at the end of last month, which means the film can finally move that much closer towards production ahead of its October 1, 2027, release date. And while details about the plot for the Robert Pattinson-led sequel are scarce at the moment, we do know that DC Studios co-ceo and Superman writer and director James Gunn praised the script.

Deadline reports that, when Gunn was attending the world premiere of Superman in Los Angeles, he was asked by reporters about his thoughts on the script for The Batman 2, and he simply replied by saying “It’s great.”

James Gunn's hopeful thoughts on The Batman Part II

While James Gunn's response was no doubt short and lacking in details, the fact that Gunn thinks highly of the script is clearly a great sign. Especially since the period of...

Before Top Gun, Glen Powell Almost Played A Beloved Star Wars Hero
Image
Glen Powell's been starring in TV shows and movies for a while now, but it wasn't until the 2020s that he became a household name. It was with "Top Gun: Maverick," released in 2022, that Powell rose to proper movie star status; he's since been starring in one hit film after another, like "Anyone But You" in 2023 and "Twisters" in 2024. In 2025, he'll be starring in "The Running Man," a film adaptation of Stephen King's amazing 1982 novel of the same name.

Before Powell could rise to such heights, he had to deal with countless rejections. One rejection that particularly stung came around 2016, when Disney and Lucasfilm were looking for actors to play a young Han Solo in the film "Solo: A Star Wars Story." Competing against other prospective "Solo" stars like Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, and Dave Franco, Powell was devastated when he dropped the ball at the last moment...

The Batman Fans Need To Watch The Director's Horror Masterpiece While They Wait For The Sequel
Image
When I watch "The Batman," I never want it to end. Even three hours isn't enough time in this world, and the spin-off show "The Penguin" could only tide me over so much. Even "The Penguin" setting the stage for "The Batman Part II" is bittersweet because that sequel remains years away.

Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II" has been delayed several times. The movie is currently set to open October 1, 2027, but DC Studios co-chief James Gunn told Entertainment Weekly that he hadn't seen Reeves' script as of the end of March 2025.

It's easy to feel cynical right now. On top of these delays, Gunn is reimagining the DC Universe on film and it's difficult to see Reeves and actor Robert Pattinson's Batman fitting into that. DC Studios has even announced a different Batman movie, "The Brave and the Bold," featuring Bruce Wayne and his son Damian/Robin.

‘The Batman Part II’ Co-Writer, 34, Teases Finally-Finished Script in New Update 3 Years After Robert Pattinson’s Superhero Debut
Image
After months of silence and speculation, the Bat-signal has been lit once again. On Thursday, The Batman director Matt Reeves confirmed that he and co-writer Mattson Tomlin have finally completed the script for The Batman Part II, the long-awaited sequel to Robert Pattinson’s noir-soaked debut as the Caped Crusader. Tomlin celebrated the news by posting a stack of black notebooks labeled “The Batman Part II (1), (2), (3),” giving fans a moody, behind-the-scenes glimpse at what’s been brewing in Gotham for the last three years. For fans holding their breath amid a sea of Dcu shakeups, rest easy — the sequel is alive and officially back in business.

Tomlin’s images — shared via social media — show a stack of well-worn journals, one ominously titled “Gotham Project,” while others feature bat silhouettes, Bruce Wayne’s signature cowl, and the freshly scrawled sequel title etched onto the page edges. It’s all delightfully unhinged,...

On Thursday, The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed that he had finally finished the script for his long-awaited sequel, which he penned alongside co-writer Mattson Tomlin.

Actress Eiza González, known for her roles in 3 Body Problem and Alita: Battle Angel, recently liked an Instagram post shared by Matt Reeves featuring the completed script.

Interestingly, Reeves appears to be following González on Instagram as well. A closer look at his account reveals that while he follows numerous design-related profiles, the only actors he follows are those who starred in The Batman.

González was once a strong contender for the role of Selina Kyle in The Batman, a part that eventually went to Zoë Kravitz. She has openly shared that she screen tested for the role and was quite disappointed when she didn’t get the part.

Could Reeves have been impressed by her talent and is now...

Matt Reeves Completes ‘The Batman 2’ Script
Image
Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin have completed their script for The Batman II, more than three years after the first film starring Robert Pattinson came out in theaters.

The pair shared a blurred black and white photo of the script with a bat on the cover, under which the fuzzy title seems to say “The Batman: Part II.”

Reeves captioned the post, which is a collab share with co-writer Tomlin, “Partners in Crime (Fighters).” He also tweeted the photo and tagged Tomlin. The caption cleverly alludes to Robin, who did not appear in the first film.

The sequel was first announced in April 2022 on the heels of the first film’s March 4 theatrical release, which also starred Colin Farrell as Oz the Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as Lt. James Cordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred and more.

The Batman Part II Script Has Finally Been Completed By Matt Reeves And Mattson Tomlin
Image
Development on the script for The Batman Part II has undeniably, been moving slowly, resulting in repeated delays to the film’s release. The sequel is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.

This has led to much speculation from the Hollywood trades and fans alike about the status of the project.

Is The Batman sequel delayed or canceled? Is progress on the script holding up development on The Brave and the Bold? There were even wild, unsubstantiated rumors that Matt Reeves was suffering from a debilitating illness.

Well, all that foolhardiness and speculation can be put to bed now, as Reeves has taken to social media to reveal the existence of a finished script for The Batman Part II.

Matt Reeves Shares Photo of Script for ‘The Batman Part II’
Image
It would seem Matt Reeves has finally delivered a script for “The Batman Part II,” on time and as promised.

The director shared a photo on Friday of himself seated with co-writer Mattson Tomlin (upcoming John Wick spinoff “Caine”) captioned “Partners in Crime (Fighting),” along with a blurry image of a script with the Bat Signal logo on the cover.

A rep for DC Studios did not respond to IndieWire’s request for comment. But the timing of the photo matches the planned timeline that DC Studios head James Gunn previously outlined. Gunn said in an interview that fans need to “get off Matt Reeves’ nuts” amid some consistent questions about the status of the Robert Pattinson-led superhero sequel and said Reeves was expected to deliver the script by the end of this month. If all is good to go,...

Paul Dano to Write, Direct Comedy for Universal With The Daniels Producing
Image
Paul Dano is set to write and direct an untitled comedy for Universal Pictures that will see him reunite with “Everything Everywhere All at Once” directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who will be producers on the project.

Dano worked with the directing duo known as Daniels on the 2016 surreal dramedy “Swiss Army Man,” which Dano starred in opposite Daniel Radcliffe as a man stuck on a deserted island where he befriends a talking corpse. The film was critically acclaimed at Sundance that year and set the foundation for the Daniels’ directing career, eventually leading to their Oscars triumph for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” in 2023.

Kwan and Scheinert will produce the film, which does not have its plot disclosed, with their partner Jonathan Wang through their Playgrounds banner as part of a first look deal with Universal through which the pair are also directing their next feature film set for release next year.

Paul Dano at an event for Being Flynn (2012)
Deadline reports that Paul Dano is set to return to the director’s chair with a new “high-concept, original comedy” for Universal Pictures, which will reunite him with Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the directing duo known as the Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

This is a bit of a reunion as Dano starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe in the Daniels’ Swiss Army Man nearly a decade ago. Dano plays a man stranded on a deserted island who has given up all hope of ever making it home again, but everything changes when he befriends a corpse (Radcliffe) who washes ashore.

Plot details for this new comedy are being kept under wraps, but Dano will write and direct the project. The Daniels will produce through their Playgrounds banner alongside partner Jonathan Wang.

Plot details are being kept under wraps other then it being a high-concept, original comedy. Tom Hanks’ 94% Rotten Tomatoes WWII Masterpiece Is Quietly Dominating Global Streaming Charts
Image
Tom Hanks will always be known for starring as Forrest Gump, but not long after his role in the film, he suited up in an iconic World War II epic that’s returned to streaming charts nearly 30 years later. Hanks stars alongside the late Tom Sizemore and Vin Diesel in Saving Private Ryan, the 1998 WWII classic following a group of U.S. soldiers who go deep behind enemy lines to bring home another trooper who lost all three of his brothers. Saving Private Ryan is streaming on MGM+, and the film has returned to streaming charts 27 years later, trending in countries such as Egypt, Mexico, Peru, and more. Saving Private Ryan earned a “certified fresh” 94% from critics and a 95% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes on its way to grossing $482 million at the box office against a $70 million budget.

James Gunn On The Batman Part II's Script Due Date; Andy Serkis Comments On Matt Reeves Taking His Time
Image
Veteran Hollywood reporters keep asserting when Matt Reeves will be handing in his script for The Batman Part II, and DC Studios co-chair James Gunn keeps saying they're wrong. But is this a case of where there's smoke, there's fire?

The Wrap first stated that Reeves was handing in his script before Memorial Day, and Gunn debunked that report. Now, Puck has more recently stated that the script would be turned in today, and Gunn said via @Threads, that's not the case.

It's hard to imagine two veteran reporters with solid track records both getting this wrong. Is this a case of Reeves simply not meeting his deadlines? After all, Gunn himself recently stated that he's expecting the script in June, and there are only 7 days left in the month.

'The Batman Part II' Is Finally Moving In the Right Direction, Claims New Report
Image
The Batman Part II has a major question mark looming over its head — even bigger than the one The Riddler wears in the comics — as the movie has been delayed countless times. The script is the cause of the delays, as Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin have missed several deadlines set by DC Studios to turn in the final draft. While James Gunn and DC don't mind the delays, so long as the script is of a high quality, it has caused fans to speculate that the film has quietly been canceled. Thankfully, that isn't the case, as The Batman Part II has finally received the script and production update we've all been waiting for.

The report comes via Puck's Matthew Belloni, who revealed that The Batman Part II is finally moving in the right direction. After months of delays, Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin are reportedly ready to...

James Gunn Keeps Pattinson’s Batman Out of Dcu Plans
Image
The buzz around Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight is still going strong, but don’t expect him to swing into the broader DC Universe anytime soon. James Gunn, co-ceo of DC Studios, recently spoke with Rolling Stone about the odds of Pattinson’s Batman joining the interconnected Dcu. ‘I’d never say it’s impossible—you can’t predict the future,’ Gunn told Rolling Stone. ‘But it’s not something we’re banking on. It’s really unlikely.’

Pattinson first donned the cape in 2022’s ‘The Batman’, a moody, detective-driven take on the iconic hero directed by Matt Reeves. The film was a standout, earning over $770 million globally and an 85% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its gritty, noir-inspired Gotham, paired with Pattinson’s raw portrayal of a young Bruce Wayne, won over audiences. The story followed Batman unraveling the Riddler’s deadly puzzles, played chillingly by Paul Dano, while facing...

DC Co-President Clears Up Some Confusion About Robert Pattinson's The Batman 2, And Why It's Taking So Long
Image
James Gunn has some new details about Robert Pattinson's Batman. Matt Reeves is currently working on The Batman Part II, and the DC co-president explained why the sequel is taking so long.

Gunn is rebooting the Dcu, but The Batman is not a part of it. The first entry premiered in 2022 to positive reviews, and it takes place in DC's Elseworlds, separate from the Dcu. Speaking toRolling Stone, Gunn clarified the Dcu's connection to The Batman, and also explained why the sequel won't arrive in theaters soon.

The Dcu will get its own Batman in the tentatively titled The Brave and the Bold. Although multiple actors campaigned for the role of the Caped Crusader, including Reacher's Alan Ritchson, so far, there's no actor attached to the project. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson is expected to reprise his role in The Batman Part II.

I hear all the time — that Batman Part II is canceled.

John Cusack Remembers Brian Wilson: ‘What He Was Able to Give the World Was Seismic’
Image
In 2014’s Brian Wilson biopic, Love & Mercy, John Cusack was tasked to play the elder version of the enigmatic musical genius who led the Beach Boys and progenitor of California rock. This was following the Smile sessions, when Wilson — who died on Wednesday at age 82 — became more insular, both musically and personally. It was when he “went into his darker period, that part of his life was much less known,” Cusack tells Rolling Stone. To better inhabit the intricacies of who Wilson was, Wilson and his wife, Melinda Ledbetter,...

In Memoriam: Composer, Beach Boy & Music Icon Brian Wilson
Image
Chicago – Brian Wilson did not have an easy life. As a member of The Beach Boys in the early 1960s, he redefined the sound of pop/rock. But even as he evolved sonic production and lyric/melody collaboration, he had mental health demons that also defined him. Wilson passed away on June 11th, 2025. He was 82.

I was privileged to interview Wilson in 2015, in association with his biopic “Love & Mercy,” which featured John Cusack as an older Brian Wilson and Paul Dano as the younger Beach Boy Wilson (reprint after the obit). Photographer Joe Arce was also on hand for the Exclusive Portrait below.

Robert Pattinson's Batman 2 Gets an Update and Vote of Confidence from James Gunn
Image
James Gunn is working on a very specific vision for the Dcu. However, he has nothing but good things to say about Matt Reeves and his work on The Batman Part II.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn discussed the status of The Batman sequel while praising the film's director. "What Matt’s doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary," Gunn stated. "We're supposed to see that script shortly, and I can't wait." Gunn also noted that a new Wonder Woman feature film is "being written right now," though he did not offer any other details regarding the project.

Released in 2022, The Batman was directed by Reeves from a screenplay co-written by Peter Craig. The film stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero during the early days of his crime-fighting career. The Batman's ensemble cast also features Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler,...

Brian Wilson Dead: Beach Boys Co-Founder Was 82
Image
Brian Wilson, the pioneering co-founder of The Beach Boys and inspiration behind Bill Pohlad's biopic Love & Mercy, has died aged 82. The musician, songwriter, and producer leaves behind a storied legacy defined by musical innovation and creative brilliance, with many of his songs, such as Surfin' USA, Good Vibrations, and God Only Knows, regarded as classics. He also wrote and produced the 1966 Pet Sounds album, which is widely credited as being one of the most influential and groundbreaking records in music history.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday (which can be seen below), Wilson's family wrote: "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy."

Brian Wilson Was The Subject Of The Most Underrated Music Biopic Ever Made
Image
Brian Wilson wrote some of the most beautiful music to ever grace this confounding world. His songs are eerily perfect and, in terms of the creative process, impossible to reverse engineer. Obviously, you can break down the songwriting structure and meticulous production of masterpieces like "Surfer Girl," "When I Grow Up to Be a Man," and "Don't Worry Baby," but accounting for their existence, how they came into being, how someone could hear such exhilaratingly strange harmonies and convey them to his bandmates... this was nothing short of sorcery.

Upon learning that Wilson has passed away at the age of 82, I was struck with the same sense of melancholic hope that I feel every time I listen to "God Only Knows" (so well used in "Boogie Nights") or "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times." From measure to measure, these songs swing from deep sadness to unfettered joy; they encompass...

James Gunn Confirms 'The Batman 2' Is "Really Important" for DC Studios
Image
While James Gunn's Superman is the first feature film in the new DC Universe (Dcu), there are plenty of other Elseworlds stories for DC Studios to explore that take place outside the new canon. Enter Matt Reeves' The Batman, a film released in 2022, at a time when the future of DC Comics films was uncertain as Gunn and Peter Safran had not yet gained creative leadership over the franchise. Despite the new plans and groundwork being done for future DC Studios projects, Reeves' iteration of the World's Greatest Detective is still of importance to Gunn.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote the upcoming release of Superman, Gunn briefly spoke about the future of his DC Universe, which includes new actors playing Batman and Wonder Woman who will hopefully one day interact with Corenswet's Man of Steel. However, that doesn't mean that Reeves' Batman, played by Robert Pattinson,...

Before Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe Starred In A Forgotten Spy Movie With Pierce Brosnan
Image
Daniel Radcliffe will forever be known as Harry Potter, even now HBO has cast Dominic McLaughlin to play Harry in the new TV series based on the "Harry Potter" book series. Before he was cast in the Warner Bros. movie franchise, though, Radcliffe made his movie debut with a bit part in an early 2000s spy film. Indeed, not only did Radcliffe appear in a spy flick, but he also got to appear alongside cinematic spy royalty in the form of Pierce Brosnan.

That said, Radcliffe didn't share the screen with Brosnan in a Bond movie. Rather, he co-starred in 2001's "The Tailor of Panama," a spy thriller that saw Brosnan playing a different womanizing, morally dubious MI6 agent. Along with Brosnan and Radcliffe, the movie also starred the Oscar-winning Geoffrey Rush, who's best known for his roles in films like "The King's Speech" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies,...
