American Idol finalists can achieve super success without winning the show. Jennifer Hudson is an Egot winner and has had success in music, film, and television. Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert have had successful music careers post-American Idol.
Throughout the past 21 seasons, American Idol has featured some extraordinary finalists who've proven that contestants don't have to win the show in order to be super successful. As Aerosmith get ready to embark on a farewell tour, it’s no secret that guitarist Joe Perry and singer Steven Tyler have had their share of discord over the years. Such was the case around 2009, when Perry was seeking out a potential replacement for the band’s iconic vocalist.
In a new interview with The Dave Rickards Podcast, singer Chris Daughtry revealed that he was one of the candidates that Perry approached to take over for Tyler, who at the time entered rehab for painkillers and then emerged to become a judge on American Idol.
Frustrated with the lack of Aerosmith activity, Perry sought out possible replacements for Tyler. Over the years, it has been reported that Perry may have reached out to such singers as Sammy Hagar, Chris Cornell, Paul Rodgers, and Billy Idol.

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell was known for his zingers directed toward the contestants, but some went beyond funny to downright insulting. Simon was one of the original judges, along with Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, and quickly became the villain of the group. From 2002-2010, he served on the judging panel, helping to discover eventual superstars such as winners Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia Barrino, and Jordin Sparks, and finalists Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Katharine McPhee, and Adam Lambert.
Although Simon has a knack for finding superb undiscovered talent, he also has a reputation for his biting commentary. Therefore, when he does praise a contestant, it means a lot. However, Simon is remembered more for his insults toward the contestants than his positivity. Earlier this year, Lzzy Hale and Daughtry unveiled a studio cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).” They recently reprised that collaboration at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Hale joined the band onstage for a performance of the Journey classic.
Fan footage has now surfaced of Hale’s cameo, which came at the beginning of Daughtry’s encore. The crowd lights up when they hear the song’s iconic synth intro — cueing Chris Daughtry and Hale to take the stage in unison.
Daughtry had been performing the song as part of their encore prior to the London show, but this was the first time Lzzy and Chris duetted the song live together. The duo is spot-on vocally, mirroring the strong chemistry heard on the studio recording. The band is also airtight as it delivers a heavier rendition of the original tune.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has been with the show since season 1, and he recently explained how the audition process has changed since the early days of the series. American Idol began in the summer of 2002, and aired on Fox for fifteen seasons, until its cancelation. ABC revived the singing competition two years later in 2018, and it has been a staple on the network ever since. When AI started, the auditions were scheduled in large arenas, where over 10,000 people could try out in each city. Only a few hundred contestants would make it through those preliminary auditions.
The auditioning American Idol contestants would camp out overnight in order to secure a place in line, and they often described how physically and mentally grueling the process was. However, in recent years, the audition process has changed. Since season 19, American Idol contestants audition via Zoom for the show's producers. If the producers like the auditions,...

The Masked Singer season 8 contestants, the Lambs, will make history on finale night. The Lambs impressed the panelists, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger, as they made songs their own with their incredible harmonies. They then dethroned the reigning Queen of The Masked Singer, Kat Graham (Robo Girl) in the Battle Royale, singing a powerful version of "Call Me" by Blondie.
The following week, the Lambs earned their spot in the semi-finals by defeating Le'Veon Bell (Milkshake) in the '90s Night Battle Royale, singing "What Is Love" by Haddaway after their beautiful rendition of "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette.
