After a polarizing 3rd season and a brief break, FX and Hulu's "The Bear" has finally returned for a fourth outing that feels almost like an apology to fans. As Carmen Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) makes amends for all the emotional damage he's caused himself and others on his quest for culinary greatness, the show itself has made up for its own forgivable missteps by delivering an emotional feast of a season that refines its experimental elements into a stunning final product comparable to a fine dining experience.
Suffice it to say, season 4 of "The Bear" does more than whet one's appetite for TV shows of this kind -- especially half-hour, episodic dramedies that manage to depict all the little complexities of life while keeping the dramatic ingredients fresh and surprising. In considering both series that follow those in...

The letter comes a day before Equity and the producer trade body are due to sit down for yet another round of negotiations on a set of new collective agreements that has been rumbling for around 12 months, with AI safeguards proving quite the sticking point. Equity has been...

This has occurred with clever panel shows, cult sitcoms, and even family-friendly favorites that have stayed on the air for decades on end.
Some of the best TV shows of all time have had serious long runs, as animated classics like The Simpsons and omnipresent soap operas like General Hospital feel like they might outlive us all. However, there are lots of lesser-known examples of TV shows that have run well past the point anyone thought they would, and many would...

Whites, the BBC comedy from 2010 was rich with offbeat, idiosyncratic humor. In its one-season, 6-episode run, Whites managed to infuse large doses of laughs into an all too short-lived series. Much like The Bear and how it shows the inner workings of a restaurant staff, Whites follows the chaos and dismay that is working in a kitchen. Roland White (Alan Davies) is the executive chef who usually puts his self-interests ahead of his kitchen; Bib (Darren Boyd) is the no-nonsense sous chef who tries to keep things afloat in spite of Roland's unprofessionalism. Each episode provides its own flavor. That flavor could be Roland poisoning a rival, Bib spilling something in a sports car, or shortcuts taken during a health inspection. Like a well-prepared meal, the episodes tie together so that even small details can be used for comedy.
