There are many qualities that will be required to become the next CEO of the Walt Disney Co. Boldness. Intelligence. Poise. But at a recent off-site corporate retreat, Disney’s current leader, Bob Iger, offered another piece of advice for a top-level executive: “You need to be more selfish.”
What Iger meant, according to the source who relayed the comment, was that the execs vying to succeed him must be willing to go to extraordinary lengths to beat out their competitors. It might seem like odd advice coming from a leader with a public image as a smooth strategist whose roughest edge is that he works so hard, he showers in his office (sometimes twice). But as Iger himself has noted, when he ran ABC in the early 1990s, he employed what he called “soft autocracy” to push through ideas that met resistance. More recently, after hand-selecting Bob Chapek as...

Some cliche somewhere said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. “Awesome Art” is the outlet for that passion. In this column, I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That’s the aim. If you have any questions or comments, or even suggestions of art or other great artists, feel free to contact me at any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.

It was announced nearly one year ago that J. Micahel Straczynski was developing a reboot of his iconic sci-fi series Babylon 5 for The CW. We haven’t heard all that much about the project since then, but with Nexstar recently taking a 75 percent stake in the company, the fate of several of their project remains up in the air.
J. Michael Straczynski took to Twitter to call upon Babylon 5 fans to show their support for the reboot and let those in charge know they want it to happen.
The fate of the #Babylon5 pilot may be decided end of this month. Though much of @TheCW was bought by @NXSTMediaGroup the decision also rests heavily with @WarnerbrosTV. “Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch.”
Tom Cruise and Tim Curry in Ridley Scott’s Legend (1985) will be available on Blu-ray September 28th from Arrow Video
This is such stuff as dreams are made of. This is Legend.
After changing the face of science fiction cinema forever with Alien and Blade Runner, director Ridley Scott turned his visionary eye to the fantasy genre, teaming with writer William Hjortsberg (Angel Heart) to create a breathtaking cinematic fairytale with one of the screen’s most astonishingly rendered depictions of Evil. In an idyllic, sun-dappled forest, the pure-hearted Jack (Tom Cruise) takes his true love Princess Lili (Mia Sara) to see a pair of unicorns frolicking at the forest’s edge. Little do they know, however, that the Lord of Darkness has dispatched his minions to capture the unicorns and sever their horns so that he may plunge the world into everlasting night.

I’ve been buying movie pop culture art from Hero Complex Gallery for years. I love the work their artists pump out! Well, they recently reopened at a new location in Los Angeles and they celebrated with the Blackout 3 art show.
As you’ll see, the the show is filled with a collection of wonderfully vibrant poster art that comes to life when put under a blacklight. The collection of art here pays tribute to films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, John Wick, Blade Runner, It, Beetlejuice, Mandy, District 9, Skyfall, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Eyes Wide Shut, Psycho, and The Shape of Water. You can check out those pieces below.
The art comes from the following artists: Craig Drake, Neil Davies, Rhys Cooper, Yvan Quinet, Luke Preece, Dan Mumford, Barrett Chapman, Melvin Mago, Adam Cockerton, Danny Haas, Mainger, Aurelio Lorenzo, and more.
If you’re interested in purchasing any of these,...
