Born and bred in beautiful North Wales, Welsh (Cymraeg) is Robert's native language.
Moved to London in 1986, Robert worked backstage in West End shows; A Month of Sundays with George Cole, of Minder fame, and was the ASM for the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in the summer of1986. Graduated with distinction from LAMDA in 1989, and then co-founded the theatre company Threshold (later Arts Threshold) with fellow LAMDA graduates. Robert's first audition after graduating, gaining him his Equity card, (in the days when you needed one to work as an actor in the UK) was in repertory at the Derby Playhouse.
Worked on the original production of Miss Saigon with Jonathan Pryce, at the Drury Lane Theatre in 1990, for seven months. Then, on the strength of Jonathan Pryce's personal advice, Robert moved to Cardiff, working increasingly in TV and film. In 1995 he played Matthew in the multi award winning independent film BRANWEN, adapted from The Mabinogion, and updated by Gareth Miles, before filming FIRST KNIGHT for four months. In the early 2000's he played Dave Marshall on the long running Welsh continuing drama Pobol Y Cwm for two years.
In 2004, playing a hardened criminal during a heist gone wrong in a two episode story, throwing one of the main characters' in BBC1's CASUALTY off the roof of a multi story car park. Robert has worked in the theatre in London and Cardiff, as well as doing voice over and radio work in both English and Welsh. Has lived in London off and on for many years, briefly in Toronto, Canada, and of course in Wales, both South and North.
