The Daytime Emmys race for Best Drama Actress is shaping up to be a battle between Eileen Davidson (The Young and the Restless) and Nancy Lee Grahn (General Hospital). According to Gold Derby's predictions, the former is currently out front with a 54 percent chance of winning, while the latter is in the runner-up position with 21 percent.

Davidson has played Ashley Abbott, a successful chemist and businesswoman who consistently navigates family drama, on and off since since her The Young and the Restless debut in 1982. During the eligible 2024 season, Ashley experienced Dissociative Identity Disorder and splintered into several different personalities, including Ash, Mrs. Abbott, and Belle. On the network side, CBS received 25 nominations, led by “The Young and the Restless,” which received the most nominations overall for an individual program, while “The Bold and the Beautiful” received four nominations. The special “Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter: An Entertainment Tonight Special” and the since-canceled daytime talk show, “The Talk,” each received just one nomination.

Among syndication programming, CBS Media Ventures garnered 12 nominations, led by “The Drew Barrymore Show” with nine, “Entertainment Tonight” with two, and “Hot Bench” with one nomination.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has revealed its nominees for this year’s ceremony, which will be held on October 17 in Pasadena, Calif.

Fan-favorite shows that appear in this year’s nominees include soaps like General Hospital, The Young and the Restless and Days of our Lives, as well as talk shows like The Drew Barrymore Show, The View, and The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Per Deadline, the nominees for the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced, with numerous fan-favorites in the running for multiple awards this year. Set to take place on October 17, the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will recognize the best soap operas, scripted daytime series, and daytime talk shows of the past year. Surprisingly, only three daytime dramas, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, and The Young and the Restless, garnered nominations this year, as opposed to the default target of five that the ceremony usually aims to hit.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) on Thursday announced the full list of nominees for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” which are set to take place on Friday, October 17 during a ceremony that will be streamed live from Pasadena, CA. However, a specific venue had not been disclosed at press time.

This year, the Daytime Emmy Awards will take place as a single ceremony, executive produced by Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS, and Lisa Armstrong, with Rachel Schwartz serving as Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. The firm of Lutz & Carr, Llp, provides accounting services for this year’s competition.

Among the television networks and streamers, Netflix leads with 32 nominations, followed by ABC and CBS in a tie for second place, each with 25 nominations. Peacock received 14 nominations to rank fourth, while CBS Media Ventures was honored with 12 nominations to close out the top five.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is slowly rolling out its list of nominations for the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will take place this year in October (moving from the show’s longtime June berth). Kicking things off Wednesday afternoon, NATAS was set to announce nominations in categories including daytime drama series, daytime talk series, lead actor in a daytime drama series and lead actress in a daytime drama series.

Also set to be revealed on Wednesday: Noms for instructional series, travel or adventure program, lifestyle program and instructional/how-to program. The remainder of this year’s nominations will be announced on Thursday.

Sharon Case was front and center again as her character Sharon spiraled out of control. Hallucinations of Cameron (Linden Ashby) caused Sharon to commit the heinous act of killing Heather (Vail Bloom). Case gave a riveting performance as Sharon grappled with her guilt and reality of the situation. There wasn’t a dry eye when Sharon broke down at Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) grave after confessing to her crime. Case hasn’t received much love from the Emmys in the past, but this performance is deserving of a nomination.

Sad Goodbye For Cole Howard

Actor J. Eddie Peck made his last appearance on the show this week, as his character Cole Howard passed away during a very emotional scene with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) by his side.

Cole had contracted an illness that fell under the radar of doctors and turned into a fatal pneumonia.

Peck was a series regular from 1993 to 1999, involved with many women in Gc during that time period, from Victoria to her mom, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), as well as Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson).

From there, the actor moved to All My Children, where he played Jake Martin from 2000 to 2003. Peck returned to Y&r in 2023, and today was his swan song.

Cole discovered his “late” daughter, Eve, with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) hadn’t died after all.

Viewers finally heard Aristotle Dumas’ voice on the June 19 episode of The Young and the Restless. And the person he wanted to know about was… Abby? That’s odd.

What Happened on Y&r?

Kyle (Michael Mealor) kicked off the night with a heartfelt toast, earning praise from Claire (Hayley Erin) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), but it didn’t melt Victor’s (Eric Braeden) icy opinion. Victor dismissed Kyle’s speech as cloying and calculated, refusing to view him as anything but an Abbott. Nikki pushed back, urging her husband to judge Kyle on his own merits, not his last name.
