Melissa Fumero Breaks Silence On Grosse Pointe Garden Society's Cancelation: "It’s Really Hard To Make A Show"
Image
Melissa Fumero breaks her silence on the cancellation of Grosse Pointe Garden Society. The crime dramedy, which hails from Good Girls executive producers Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, the crime dramedy centers on four members of a suburban garden club who must work together to cover up a murder, but their own secrets soon bubble up to the surface.

Due to low ratings, Grosse Point Garden Society season 2 has been in limbo for almost as long as the show's premiere on NBC in February. Although there was some consideration about moving the series to Peacock, it was confirmed on June 27 that the dramedy was cancelled.

Following the cancellation of Grosse Pointe Garden Society, Fumero responded to the news on her Threads account. The actress, who played Birdie, noted that the character “felt like an amalgamation of every role I’ve ever played.”. She also touches on the fact that it's difficult to make a show.

Melissa Fumero is opening up about the cancellation of her new NBC drama, Grosse Pointe Garden Society. The network gave the show the axe just months after its first season premiered.

In a post on Threads, Fumero shared photos from the set of Grosse Pointe Garden Society and talked about the difficulties of keeping a new series on the air. "Oh, Birdie. You were one for the books. You felt like an amalgamation of every role I’ve ever played," she wrote. "I’ll miss so many things about this job, but most of all I will miss the incredible group of humans it brought together. I won’t miss the shoes. It’s really hard to make a show. Even harder to keep it on air. I’ll forever be proud of what we made. Thanks for watching."

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Canceled After One Season At NBC, No Future On Streaming At Peacock
Image
Despite moving the show to Friday nights in the hopes of generating a few more eyeballs in an earlier time, NBC has decided against a second season of freshman drama “Grosse Pointe Garden Society.”

The news isn’t surprising as the series failed to gain traction on its new night, particularly as it was the only series left over from the 2024-2025 season to have its fate decided by the time the network unveiled its 2025-2026 primetime schedule.

According to Deadline, which first reported the cancellation news, executives had been exploring whether to move the heavily serialized series to Peacock in the hopes of it continuing but ultimately decided against it after going over the financials, citing data showing it would be “hard for the series to grow its audience” on the streaming service, the Friday move did lead to increased viewership on Peacock as potential viewers were able to...

Grosse Pointe Garden Society's Fate Has Finally Been Revealed By NBC
Image
The fate of Grosse Pointe Garden Society has finally been revealed at NBC. Hailing from Good Girls executive producers Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, the crime dramedy debuted in February. Its story revolves around four members of a suburban garden club who must work together to cover up a murder, with their own dark secrets bubbling up to the surface in the process.

With a main cast led by Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder), Ben Rappaport (Mr. Robot), and AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries), there had been questions about Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2 because of the show's lackluster ratings performance. There were also glimmers of hope, though, that are now officially extinguished.

Deadlineconfirms that Grosse Pointe Garden Society has been cancelled at NBC, with the news coming more than a month after the dramedy's May finale. There had been some optimism...

Melissa Fumero's Crime Drama With 85% Audience Score Gets Canceled by NBC After 1 Season
Image
It's going to be a one-season run for the crime drama series Grosse Pointe Garden Society. The news is going to be disappointing for a lot of fans who had given the series a strong audience score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Grosse Pointe Garden Society has been canceled by NBC after just one season. Canceling the series comes about five weeks after the show aired its first season finale, which will now serve as the series finale. Reportedly, the decision wasn't swift, as NBCUniversal had been exploring the possibility of continuing Grosse Pointe Garden Society on the streaming service Peacock. However, a deal was not able to come together, at which point the choice was made to put the series on ice.

The show was created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs. It told the story of four members of a suburban gardening club in Grosse Pointe,...

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Canceled at NBC After a Single Season
Image
NBC is disbanding the Grosse Pointe Garden Society.

The network has canceled the first-year series, which comes from in-house studio Universal Television and creators Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs (Good Girls). The decision comes five weeks after the show aired its first season — now series — finale.

The delayed decision was due in part to NBCUniversal exploring a potential move to Peacock for the series. A deal didn’t come together, however, leading to the end for Grosse Pointe Garden Society.

The series stars AnnaSophia Robb, Melissa Fumero, Ben Rappaport and Aja Naomi King as four members of a garden club in the titular Detroit suburb whose lives become intertwined by scandal and a shared secret — a murder none of them wants to discuss. Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Wolfe also star.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society premiered in February, paired with Suits LA on NBC’s post-football Sunday night schedule.

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Canceled After One Season at NBC
Image
“Grosse Pointe Garden Society” has been canceled at NBC after just one season, Variety has learned.

Per the official logline, the show is said to follow “four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret – a murder no one wants to talk about. As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in their garden above.”

The cast includes “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” alum Melissa Fumero as well as Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe. Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs created the series and served as co-showrunners and executive producers. Casey Kyber also executive produced. Universal Television was the studio.

The cancellation comes as little surprise, as the show opened to a muted response and low ratings when it premiered in February at the broadcaster.

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Canceled By NBC After One Season, Won’t Move To Peacock
Image
Exclusive: NBC’s suburban garden club is shutting down as the network has opted not to renew freshman drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society for a second season.

The news comes six weeks after NBC unveiled the bulk of its 2025-26 lineup, with Grosse Pointe Garden Society, from the Good Girls duo of Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, as the only 2024-25 series whose fate was left undecided. That is because, as Deadline has reported, NBCUniversal executives wanted to explore the possibility of the serialized drama migrating to streamer Peacock.

After some number crunching, I hear it was ultimately decided that it would be hard for the series to grow its audience on Peacock, leading to the cancellation as the options of the cast were about to expire Monday.

A renewal by NBC had been pretty much out of the question as the mystery drama was a soft linear ratings performer,...

Damon Salvatore's Most Underrated Vampire Diaries Episode Is Actually Flawless From Beginning to End

The Vampire Diaries followed Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers. The three took on all matters of supernatural enemies while falling in and out of love with each other. With high-stakes and epic finales, there are some episodes that get overlooked or fly a little under the radar.

The game-changing final episode of season two is one of the highest-rated episodes of the series and one of the best episodes for Damon fans, but an earlier episode in the season has tons of brilliant Damon moments and is a fantastic episode. “The Last Dance” is when audiences first see Klaus in action when he possesses Alaric’s body. He learns that Bonnie is super-charged and confident she can kill Klaus if he shows up.

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Moving to Fridays, ‘Dateline NBC’ Taking Over Sunday Slot
Image
After airing just four episodes, NBC announced on Tuesday that its freshman drama series “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” will be moving from Sunday nights to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. Et/Pt, beginning Friday, April 4.

The series follows four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret – a murder no one wants to talk about. As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in their garden above.

Episodes five and six are set to continue airing on Sunday nights for the remainder of the month (March 23 and March 30 at 10:00 p.m. Et/Pt) with the seventh episode serving as the first in the show’s new timeslot.

“Dateline NBC” will replace the series on Sundays beginning Sunday, April 6.

To date, the pilot episode of “Grosse Pointe Garden Society...

NBC Moves ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ To Fridays: Should Fans Be Worried?
Image
NBC is making a scheduling change, taking new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society out of its Sunday 10 Pm slot and putting it at 8 Pm Fridays, beginning April 4. The decision comes three episodes into Grosse Pointe‘s run.

The swiftness of NBC’s action is understandable as Grosse Pointe has been drawing very low linear ratings, with the series sitting at the bottom of all of the network’s series in both total audience and adults 18-49, averaging just over a million viewers in Live+ Same Day the last two weeks.

While a move to the low-trafficked Friday night for a new broadcast series would’ve meant a certain death back in the day, the rules are different in the streaming age.

With its serialized mystery-themed storytelling, Grosse Pointe, from the Good Girls duo of Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, was always considered better suited for streaming. As Deadline reported last year,...

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Moving to Friday Nights on NBC
Image
A midstream scheduling change is a rarity for networks in recent years, but one is happening at NBC.

The network will move its first-year drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society from Sunday to Friday nights starting April 4. The show will take the 8 p.m. spot currently occupied by Happy’s Place; the Reba McEntire-led comedy finishes its season March 21. Episodes of Dateline will take over the 10 p.m. Sunday slot after Grosse Pointe Garden Society moves.

The change in nights is meant to help Grosse Pointe Garden Society get some more eyes to its on-air showings. The series, which follows members of a suburban garden club whose lives become entangled with scandal and secrets — and a murder — has found some traction streaming on Peacock, but its on-air viewing has struggled some.

Through its first three episodes, Grosse Pointe Garden Society has averaged a scant 1.29 million same-day viewers, making it NBC’s lowest on-air performance this season.

‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ to Shift to Friday Nights Starting in April
Image
“Grosse Pointe Garden Society” is on the move.

NBC is moving the drama series from its current Sunday night timeslot to Fridays at 8 p.m. Et/Pt beginning April 4. “Dateline NBC” will take over the Sunday 10 p.m. slot.

The move does not bode well for the future of “Grosse Pointe,” as a move to Fridays midway through a freshman season typically indicates a show is destined for cancellation. NBC has been successfully programming comedies on Friday nights of late, however, with the Reba McEntire multi-cam “Happy’s Place” recently earning a Season 2 renewal. The season finale of that show is set to air on March 21.

Still, despite relatively solid reviews, “Grosse Pointe” has failed to make a major impact in the broadcast ratings. Per NBC, the pilot has grown to a 1.21 rating in the adults 18-49 demo and 6.6 million total viewers across all platforms since it originally debuted on Feb.

In the middle of covering up Grosse Pointe Garden Society‘s shocking murder, Birdie (Melissa Fumero) took matters (and a dead person’s phone) into her own hands. She walked right into the lion’s den — the police station — and she revealed what happened to… Joel (Matthew Davis), the man she happens to be in love with. Hulu’s Oscars Livestream Cuts Off Before Final Awards, Leaving Viewers Frustrated
Mark Eydelshteyn and Mikey Madison in Anora (2024)
Hulu subscribers watching the first-ever livestream of the Academy Awards were left without the night’s most anticipated moments when the stream cut off just before the final two awards. As Anora built momentum through major categories, viewers expecting to see the Best Actress and Best Picture announcements instead saw their screens go dark.

The outage meant that subscribers missed Anora star Mikey Madison winning Best Actress over The Substance’s Demi Moore, a result that had been one of the night’s biggest surprises. Moments later, Anora claimed Best Picture, securing Sean Baker his fourth Oscar of the night.

Social media quickly filled with frustrated posts from viewers who were cut off at the ceremony’s peak. Complaints poured in as users shared screenshots of their screens, questioning how a service owned by Disney— the same company broadcasting the show on ABC—could fail during the most critical part of the event.
