Sterling K. Brown Teams Up With a ‘Lucifer’ Star in Breathtaking New Look at ‘Washington Black’ [Exclusive]
Image
Sterling K. Brown recently earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the first season of Paradise, and now the actor is returning to Hulu for a new show that just got an exciting sneak peek. Collider is thrilled to partner with the streamer to exclusively unveil a new look behind the scenes of Washington Black, the upcoming show following the 19th adventure of George Washington Black, an 11-year-old boy who flees a Barbados sugar plantation after a gruesome death. The new featurette offers a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the show with interviews from cast and creatives, who discuss the many locations the team traveled around the world to film the historical series. All episodes of Washington Black will premiere on Hulu this Wednesday. The show is based on the book of the same name by Esi Edugyan.

In addition to Sterling K. Brown, who stars in the series as Medwin Harris,...

‘Washington Black’ Review: Hulu Drama Blends Magic and Historical Cruelty to Bumpy Results
Image
“Washington Black,” Hulu’s new limited series, is an action-adventure story about a bright 11-year-old boy with a talent for science that is both a daring hero’s journey and a sober reminder of a time when people were treated as property. These two themes run concurrently. It is a production that presents a challenge to the cast and crew to show the viewpoints and emotions of both sides well. And they do, for the most part.

Of the four episodes available to critics, the show doesn’t stray from the prize-winning book of the same name by Canadian writer and series co-producer Esi Edugyan. Edugyhan based parts of the book on the true story of 19th-century former slave Andrew Bogle. The fictional George Washington Black aka “Wash,” is born on a Barbados sugar plantation sometime in the 19th century. Under any other circumstance his curious mind might have led him to attend college,...

A complete history of Marvel TV shows at the Emmys: ‘Agatha All Along’ earns 3 nominations
Image
In 2013, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. became the first Marvel Television series developed to be part of the sprawling MCU. In the two decades since, more than 20 shows from the company have graced the small screen, all with varying degrees of success among fans, critics, and on the awards circuit.

In fact, six of the series have won Emmy Awards, and more could follow in their footsteps this year.

To date, WandaVision (2021) is Marvel's highest achiever at the Emmys, earning 23 nominations and three wins for its costumes, production design, and music & lyrics (for the "Agatha All Along" song). The limited series, which reunited Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany's Vision from the Avengers movies, was so popular that it spawned a spin-off series, 2024's Agatha All Along.

The spooky comedy-dramed follows Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness as she traverses down the Witches' Road with a gaggle of sorceresses. The...

Kamar de los Reyes, in His Final Role, Faces Off Against Tom Ellis in Washington Black — Watch (Exclusive)
Image
Prior to his death in 2023, Kamar de los Reyes took a role in Hulu’s historical drama Washington Black. Now, ahead of the limited series’ premiere, we’ve got your exclusive first look at the much-missed actor’s final performance.

Washington Black — all eight episodes of which begin streaming on Wednesday, July 23 — is a 19th-century adventure based on Esi Edugyan’s 2018 novel. It follows George Washington “Wash” Black, an 11-year-old boy born on a Barbados sugar plantation, whose natural talent for understanding scientific concepts “sets him on a path of unexpected destiny,” per the series’ official logline. “When a harrowing incident forces Wash to flee,...

New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Set Image Teases Return of White Tiger
Image
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is in the heart of production right now, and a new image from behind the scenes teases the return of an important Season 1 character. Born Again Season 1 saw the live-action MCU debut of Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes), otherwise known as White Tiger. The vigilante finds himself in hot water after saving a civilian results in the death of a police officer, but Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) comes to his defense. Ayala is ultimately killed, and it’s teased that his niece Angela (Camila Rodriguez) will take over the mantle. The new set image posted on X by @RayyanTCG shows Angela in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen wearing a homemade White Tiger mask and outfit outside City Hall. The image can be found below.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Set Photo Reveals Marvel's New White Tiger
Image
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) claimed he needed an "army" in the season finale of "Daredevil: Born Again," and it would appear he's getting one. Marvel Studios' first full-fledged effort to combine the old Netflix universe of superheroes with their ongoing cinematic universe was more or less a success (as you can read in my mixed review for /Film here), setting the stage for even more street-level action. The debut season ended with the villainous Mayor Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) fully in control of New York City, enacting martial law, and declaring war on vigilantes everywhere. Our scrappy heroes found themselves on the defensive, barely scrounging together enough holdouts to pose a threat to his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Luckily, all signs are pointing to a familiar face joining their ranks.

Season 2 of "Born Again" may be bringing (some of) the Defenders back into the thick of things, but don't sleep...

Marvel officially 'recasts' Daredevil hero; new actor to take over
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a thrilling ensemble of superheroes, many of whom have spent the past two decades saving the world - and indeed the universe - from all kinds of threats. We've appreciated watching adventures on the big screen in which the likes of Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Captain America stopped alien invasions, and on the small screen as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Punisher all protected their city from more grounded, ancient threats.

But as the years go on, Marvel Studios has moved on from some heroes, retiring the characters or bidding them farewell with a noble, heroic death. Sometimes a new hero takes over their mantle, while most of the time it is simply retired with the hero who took their last breath in that armor.

Sometimes their legacy carries on in a friend or relative who picks up where they left off.

'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Set Photo Teases White Tiger's Return
Image
Daredevil: Born AgainSeason 2 is currently filming in New York and is expected to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026 as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. The next batch of episodes will follow on from the events of Season 1, with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock assembling an army of superpowered allies to blaze through Hell's Kitchen and fight back against the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, set up by Vincent D'Onofrio's Mayor Wilson Fisk. The titular hero's team will feature plenty of familiar faces and perhaps even a new iteration of one returning vigilante.

A newly surfaced set photo (seen below) from Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 seemingly confirms the return of the McU's White Tiger. It appears from the image that Camila Rodriguez's Angela Del Toro has earned her stripes and will be taking up the mantle in the show's second season. Del Toro is the niece of Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes...

'Daredevil: Born Again' Gets New Heroic Funko Pop Collection as Season 1 Ends
Image
Marvel fans are still likely coming off the high that was Daredevil: Born Again. The first season of the Disney+ series was full of high-stakes drama, brutal action, and a full cast of iconic comic book characters. Charlie Cox's vigilante is back and isn't slowing down anytime soon. That includes his devilish merchandise too. Now, The Man Without Fear is getting Born Again with a new Funko Pop collection.

The Funko Pop collection includes five figures based on the Born Again series:Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Vincent D'Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye, and two versions of Cox’s Daredevil. There's one of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen ready for a fight with his nunchucks, and an unmasked Daredevil. The latter of which is an Entertainment Earth exclusive. If that wasn't enough, there will also be a Daredevil Pocket Pop! Key Chain. Funko has made many Daredevil...

New Call of Duty 2025 Rumors Indicate Another Quick-Turnaround Sequel
Image
Rumors for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are again in full swing; this time, it came from Charlie Intel with a post reading, “Campaign set in 2035, with 4 player co-op.” The year suggests it will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, which swung to and fro between 2025, where storylines follow David Mason and Mike Harper, and the 80s, where we get to see the classic old crew with Alex Mason, Jason Hudson, and Frank Woods.

Black Ops, which began with World at War (you might see it on the Xbox Game Pass soon), is the longest-running sub-series within Call of Duty. Although Modern Warfare has six games, that’s divided into the original and a soft reboot, both of them having three games each. Some say there will be a fourth one in the reboot, but Activision should reconsider it after the disastrous Modern Warfare III, something we reported on previously.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ showrunner says Punisher’s fight with his cop fans was ‘a long time coming’
Image
The Season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again, which premiered last week on Disney+, did not feature a final showdown between Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). That will have to wait for next time, as both main characters ended this season by assembling their respective teams and gearing up for a more protracted conflict. However, there was still plenty of bone-crunching action in the episode, thanks to the timely arrival of Frank Castle/Punisher (Emmy winner Jon Bernthal).

Bernthal’s Frank appeared earlier in the season, sporting a haggard beard and looking like he’d lost his grip. When the show was creatively retooled partway through production, with showrunner Dario Scardapane and directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead coming in to oversee the final episodes, redo the premiere, and stitch connective tissue throughout the season, they weren’t sure at first if Bernthal would participate.

Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal and every ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Emmy acting submission
Image
Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher are ready to go one more round — this time at the Emmys.

Gold Derby has confirmed that Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil; Vincent D’Onoforio, who plays Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin; and Jon Bernthal , who plays Frank Castle, aka Punisher, will all be submitted by Disney+ for acting categories at the 2025 Emmy Awards for their work in Daredevil: Born Again.

Cox will be entered for for Best Drama Actor, D'Onofrio will be submitted for supporting actor, and Bernthal for guest actor for the Marvel-produced show, which is a continuation of Netflix’s Daredevil series (2015-18). Disney had originally considered entering D'Onofrio for best actor, since his baddie has nearly as much screen time as Cox's, but ultimately went with supporting rather than pitting the stars against each other.

Cox has never been Emmy-nominated, but he has won a Screen Actors Guild Award as...

Kingpin Steps Out of the Shadows in Blood-Soaked ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Finale
Image
You know what they say about old habits. The entire first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” has seen Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin trying (admittedly not very hard) not to slip into previous patterns, but the Season 1 finale brings them firmly back to square one — and to the truth of who they are.

Written by Aaron Moorhead & Justin Benson and directed by Heather Bellson & Dario Scardapane, “Straight to Hell” charts every character’s descent in the fateful hours after Matt gets shot — and yes, that’s every character including New York City itself. Mayor Fisk is flying high after cheating death once again, and it launches his power into newly unchecked but familiarly tyrannical territory.

First, he pulls the trigger on a citywide blackout (“send in our friend from ConEd”) in which the anti-vigilante task force reigns terror. Any violence or looting that took place without...

Here’s what happened in the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ finale — and how it sets up Season 2
Image
That was one heck of a cliffhanger, huh? The penultimate episode of Daredevil: Born Again ended with a shocking turn of events. Sure, there was an assassination attempt against New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), but what was truly surprising was that he was saved from the bullet by his greatest adversary, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). Matt was attending Fisk’s black-and-white ball as the plus-one of his girlfriend, Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva), who only just revealed to him that she has been working as a couples therapist for Fisk and his wife, Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer).

After interrogating Dex Poindexter (Wilson Bethel) earlier in the day about whether Fisk actually had hired Bullseye to kill Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) back at the beginning of the season, Matt finally put the pieces together over the course of the ball. He realized that Foggy had been killed on the orders of Fisk — not Wilson,...

‘Daredevil’ Star Vincent D’Onofrio on Kingpin’s ‘Brutal’ Head-Smashing Finale, Punisher Rematch and a ‘Shadowland’ Season 2
Image
Spoiler Alert: This article contains major spoilers from the Season 1 finale of “Daredevil: Born Again,” now streaming on Disney+.

After ending with a bang (literally) in the penultimate episode, “Daredevil: Born Again” ups the violence, with one of the most violent scenes in Marvel history — and puts New York City entirely under Mayor Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) control.

The episode starts with a flashback that reveals how Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) convinced Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) to kill Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) prior to the tragic series premiere. In the present, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) wakes up in the hospital after he saved Kingpin from being shot by Bullseye at his political gala, and took the bullet himself in the last episode. Matt survives, but Kingpin still wants him dead, so he cuts power to the city and sends his enforcer Buck Cashman (Arty Froushan) to kill Matt under the cover of the darkness.

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 9 Reveals Who Killed White Tiger
Image
Spoilers for "Daredevil: Born Again" follow.

Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) was in nominal vigilante retirement for most of "Daredevil: Born Again" season 1. Yet less time as Daredevil meant more time for his lawyer day job.

Episodes 2 and 3 of "Born Again" focused on Matt defending Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes), a man accused of murdering an NYPD officer, and secretly the vigilante the White Tiger. These episodes directly adapted Brian Michael Bendis' "Daredevil" comic arc, "Trial of the Century," but unlike the source material, Matt managed to get Hector found "not guilty." It didn't matter in the end because episode 3 concluded with a masked man, dressed in the Punisher's skull logo, shooting White Tiger in the head.

Of course, this wasn't the actual Punisher, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal). Matt, noticing the slug that killed Hector had a Punisher logo on its casing, tracked down Frank. Mr. Castle countered that he...

Another Daredevil: Born Again Star Is Pushing for a Spider-Man Crossover
Image
Another Daredevil: Born Again star wants a crossover with Marvel's most popular superhero, Spider-Man. The Many Saints of Newark's Michael Gandolfini, who plays Daniel Blake in the Disney+ MCU series, even has a specific location in mind for where his character would encounter Tom Holland's Web-Slinger.

During an interview with Inverse to discuss Daredevil: Born Again and his new movie Warfare, Gandolfini half-joked, "Can we get Spider-Man meeting me on the Staten Island Ferry or something?" Gandolfini joins Daredevil actor Charlie Cox in trying to manifest a crossover with Marvel's flagship character. Last year, Cox stated during a panel at Fan Expo Chicago that Spider-Man is the character he would most like to team up with in an MCU crossover. "Spider-Man and Daredevil together is so iconic. I hope we get to work together again." Cox made a brief cameo as Matt Murdock in Holland's hit Spider-Man: No Way Home...

Imagine showing up to work, and your colleague is already deep in character, so deep that even your boss got spooked. Well, that’s exactly what went down when Chadwick Boseman was filming Black Panther. According to director Ryan Coogler, the actor went scary deep into his role as T’Challa, even while secretly battling cancer.

Spilling the jaw-dropping detail from the set of Black Panther, Ryan Coogler spoke passionately about Chadwick Boseman’s powerful performance and how he had dedicated himself to his onscreen Marvel character. As per Coogler, Boseman had so madly adapted T’Challa’s African accent that even Disney execs didn’t know whether to clap or call Hr.

Daredevil Born Again: Is [Spoilers] Really Dead? Marvel Comics Has The Answer
Image
A recent Marvel Comics run may be key to knowing whether this big name died in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7.

Thus far, the R-rated Disney+ series has proven that no one is truly safe in this gritty, blood-soaked corner of the MCU.

Major characters like Kamar de los Reyes's White Tiger and Patrick Murney's Luca have been killed off without remorse, and as Season 1 comes to an end, the bloodshed has shown no sign of slowing down.

The Real Reason The Punisher’s Fight Scenes Are Different Than Daredevil’s, According to Born Again’s Stunt Coordinator
Image
Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) each have a very different approach to their fighting styles in the MCU. It's apparent and on full display in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, which reunites the two after previously co-starring in the original Daredevil series.

Speaking about the show with Cbr's Sean O'Connell, Daredevil: Born Again stunt coordinator Philip Silvera explained the consideration that was given to each specific character in ways that made the most sense. With The Punisher, it was best to factor in Frank's military background with how he approaches combat. At the same time, Frank is never one to "hold back" with the punishment he dishes out, something else that separates him from how Daredevil takes on criminal foes.

"You have Frank Castle, who was military trained," Silvera said. "Tactically trained. But his mindset is not to hold back at all.

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7 Continues The Show's Trend Of Wasting Great Characters
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Daredevil: Born Again" season 1, episode 7.

"Daredevil: Born Again" season 1 is infamously a salvage job that has undergone the kinds of extensive rewrites, reshoots, and creative changes that have been a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's recent, turbulent years. While it doesn't suffer quite as much from the patchwork nature of its production as the safe and forgettable "Captain America: Brave New World," a viewer can't help but wonder just how much of the good stuff the revamps took away.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the way "Daredevil: Born Again" uses its most fascinating new characters, most pointedly Muse (Hunter Doohan). The show has already removed one of Muse's most terrifying abilities from the comics. Now, episode 7 has reduced the mysterious and dangerous serial killer artist who's able to terrorize the entirety of New York City into what amounts to a Dr. Heather Glenn...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Episode 7 Jolts the Season Into Uncertainty with a Bloody Face-Off
Image
[Editor’s note: This review contains spoilers for “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 1, Episode 7.]

What makes a good supervillain? The answer is hard to pin down and its results will make or break a hero’s story — just look at the MCU. From Loki to Justin Hammer to Malekith, a superhero film or franchise hinges upon how good the bad guy is.

“Daredevil: Born Again” is mostly free of that pressure, thanks to the three seasons of “Marvel’s Daredevil” that aired on Netflix (now available on Disney+) and established Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). But to sustain the resurrected series, showrunner Dario Scardapane and his writers had to build out the secondary and tertiary antagonists enough to sustain the series week-to-week. So far there’s been Luca (Patrick Murney), Devlin (Cillian O’Sullivan), Powell (Hamish Allen-Headley), and Fisk’s cronies Buck (Arty Froushan) and Daniel (Michael Gandolfini) — and Episode 7 takes the mask of Muse (Hunter Doohan).

Muse is not a villain-of-the-week,...

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7 Reveals A Massive Weakness In Matt Murdock's Powers
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Daredevil: Born Again" season 1, episode 7.

"Daredevil: Born Again" season 1, episode 7 focuses heavily on the art-themed serial killer Muse (played by "Your Honor" star Hunter Doohan), whose kidnapping of Angela Del Toro (Camila Rodriguez) has finally convinced Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) to resume his Daredevil vigilante identity. Unfortunately, by doing so, Murdock also reveals a massive weakness in his very particular power set.

In a direct continuation of the Muse storyline in "Daredevil: Born Again" episode 6 (an episode that brought back a memorable character from "Hawkeye"), Daredevil infiltrates Muse's lair after their initial encounter is over and the NYPD cops temporarily leave the scene. The hero puts his super-senses to good use by using his ungloved hand to feel his way around the various sketches and papers that the villain left behind. This would all be well and good ... if it wasn't for the fact that...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ – Did the Punisher Really Kill Hector Ayala?
Image
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has landed on Disney+, and it’s got everyone talking about Charlie Cox’s return as Matt Murdock, the blind vigilante lawyer. This revival picks up where the Netflix series left off, throwing us into New York’s dark corners with fresh faces like Hector Ayala, the White Tiger. Played by the late Kamar de los Reyes, Hector’s story takes a wild turn in episode three, sparking a big question—did the Punisher really kill Hector Ayala?

The show wastes no time shaking things up. Foggy Nelson, Matt’s best pal, gets killed off in the first episode, setting a grim tone. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk is back too, now running the city as mayor while Matt tries to fight crime through the courts. Hector steps in as a new hero, but his quick exit has us all wondering who’s behind it. With Jon Bernthal’s Punisher lurking around,...

Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ Boss Says Scrapped Season 4 Was ‘Quite Different’ From ‘Born Again’
Image
In 2018, Netflix canceled “Daredevil” after three seasons as Disney took its rights to the Marvel antihero back ahead of the launch of Disney+.

Seven years later, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have returned to the small screen for new adventures in their own series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” which are “quite different” from where Season 3 showrunner Erik Oleson planned to go.

“I’m very excited that the show came back at a different network. It’s so weird. As a showrunner, you’re kind of prepared for your show to be canceled. You’re not necessarily prepared for your studio [to be canceled]. It was a very bizarre thing,” Oleson told TheWrap.

“The Season 4 I had planned was quite different. It was a Typhoid Mary story. It was going to go into a different direction. And then I was going to circle back to the Bullseye storyline in Season 5,” he continued. “I was starting...

Daredevil: Born Again May Have a Surprising Connection to the McU's Most Anticipated Team
Image
Daredevil: Born Againis greatly expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe's street-level setting, telling a much-needed grounded story amid the controversial Multiverse Saga. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock, formerly the vigilante Daredevil, who struggles to break free from the call to suit up and administer justice on the streets of New York City when his old nemesis, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) is elected mayor. In just four episodes, the series has already restored hope in the MCU while introducing new characters who could play major roles in the future of the franchise.

Episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again, entitled "Sic Semper Systema," may have distracted viewers from the introduction of one of the McU's newest street-level vigilantes. The return of Jon Bernthal's Punisher overshadows almost everything else that occurs in the episode, but one crucial scene marks the surprise introduction of a character who not only may play a big role...

Daredevil: Born Again’s bloody first season needs one more big death to make it great
Image
The Daredevil: Born Again writers are racking up quite the body count, and although we’re not even halfway through the show’s freshman season, dirty cops, the Og White Tiger (Kamar de los Reyes), and even our beloved Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) have already kicked the bucket. With Born Again sure to live up to its TV-ma rating, there are fears the bodies will keep piling up. While Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil is the only one with enough plot armor to be guaranteed a stay of execution, one more Daredevil death could catapult another fan-favorite in the right direction.

Although he’s already popped up in Hawkeye and Echo, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk makes his full-time return for Daredevil: Born Again. Managing to avoid that dreaded MCU villain problem, Fisk’s looming presence in the first three seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil has made him the...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and Its Hero Finally Embrace the Inevitable in Bruising Episode
Image
“Does a mask allow us to be our true selves, or does it strip away our identity and allow us to act like animals?,” Heather (Margarita Levieva) asks Matt (Charlie Cox) in “Daredevil: Born Again” Episode 6. The question’s existential nature has been defended and debated by countless superheroes and vigilantes over the years, as has “Born Again”s signaling that there are different kinds of masks. Daredevil has a mask, Matt has a mask, and newly-minted Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) has his masks.

So, is the mask the true self, or is the man behind it? Does the line even exist?

This episode, directed by David Boyd and written by Thomas Wong, finally depicts the inevitable, with both Matt and Fisk embracing their old ways in displays of violence against perceived enemies. Matt finally dons the Daredevil suit to go after serial killer Muse while Fisk descends into...

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 6 Brings Back A Fan-Favorite Hawkeye Character
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Daredevil: Born Again" season 1, episode 6.

"Daredevil: Born Again" has an interesting way to deal with its Marvel Cinematic Universe references. The show generally steers clear of too many explicit MCU allusions, instead choosing to operate with existing Netflix-era characters and occasional newcomers like Hector "White Tiger" Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes) and Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva) added in the mix. Still, the show isn't afraid to drop not-too-subtle Spider-Man (Tom Holland) references. Episode 5 even wheels out Ms. Marvel's (Iman Vellani) father, Yusuf Khan (Mohan Kapur), to have bank heist-themed adventures with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), setting up a potential future superhero team-up between his daughter and his new blind friend while he's at it.

Episode 6 continues this theme by including another highly likable supporting character from a previous MCU show. Mayor Wilson Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) predictably disastrous attempt to rub shoulders with New York...

Daredevil: Born Again's Most Controversial Character Change Actually Makes a Lot of Sense (And Most Fans Missed the Clues)
Image
Quick LinksWhy Vanessa Fisk's Character Arc Makes SenseHow Vanessa's Arc Will Affect Wilson Fisk in Born Again

Daredevil: Born Againwalks a precarious line with fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The revival brings back multiple characters from the original Netflix series, striving to remain faithful to the characterization viewers know while still breaking new ground. For the most part, Born Again has met these stipulations, crafting one of the best MCU Disney+ series yet. Actors like Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio slip seamlessly back into their characters, even though Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk have changed drastically over the last several years. Still, fans have the occasional gripe about elements of the new show.

Ayelet Zurer returns as Vanessa Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again after the initial confirmation that she had been recast with Sandrine Holt. While it is terrific to see Vanessa reunite with her husband, many viewers have...

The Cinematography of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Crafts a Hell’s Kitchen for Both the ‘70s and Today
Image
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) may be barely holding it together as chaos swirls around him — and as the forces that want to tear down New York City also menace his allegedly reformed antagonist Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) — but the world of “Daredevil” looks as rich as it ever has in its newest iteration, “Daredevil: Born Again.”

Director of Photography Hillary Fyfe Spera, who shot seven out of nine episodes for the series, and cinematographer Pedro Gómez Millán, who shot Episodes 4 and 5, have both embraced the mission of giving Murdock’s New York a kind of dirtbag romance — visually speaking, at least — in the grand tradition of beautifully grimy films like “Taxi Driver” and “The French Connection.”

The challenge was crafting a cinematic grammar where that vision of Hell’s Kitchen can co-exist with Matt’s sensory abilities as Daredevil, his personal church that is the courtroom, Fisk’s adventures in mayoral politics,...

Daredevil: Born Again Has Already Accomplished Its 1 Job (And It Might Save the MCU)

Quick LinksThe Defenders Saga Could Save the MCUHow the Defenders Can Return in the MCUWho Could Join Daredevil's New Defenders Team?

Daredevil: Born Againis shaking up the MCU with one of the best Disney+ series the franchise has ever produced. A revival of Netflix's original Daredevil, Born Again picks up Matt Murdock's story one year after a devastating loss leads him to give up the mantle of Daredevil. However, he soon finds that the vigilante is much more a part of him than he ever thought.

Daredevil: Born Again confirms definitively that Netflix's Marvel shows, known collectively as the Defenders Saga, are officially canon in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. These shows were originally envisioned as parts of the MCU but their canonicity fell into question due to their limited references to the larger universe. With characters like Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, and Wilson Fisk all returning in Born Again,...

How Daredevil: Born Again became a better legal drama than Suits LA
Image
In its initial four episodes, Daredevil has not suited up since the action-packed opening in Daredevil: Born Again. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) has seemingly retired from his vigilante lifestyle and chosen to spend the rest of his days as a defense attorney. The Disney+ series plays out more of a law drama than other shows, such as Suits LA.

The justice system has always been used as a subplot in the Marvel franchise. When the comic book became a movie in 2003, Matt (played by Ben Affleck) defended an abused woman from gangster Jose Quesada (Paul Ben-Victor). Matt stormed out of the courtroom, unhappy with the verdict. Matt suited up and went on the prowl, attacking Quesada at a nightclub.

"You see, the way I see it, Jen Walters can use the law to help people when society fails them. She-Hulk can help people when the law fails them."Matt...

“The Frank Castle I really, really want”: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Just Teased the Unhinged Mind of Jon Bernthal That He Promises for ‘The Punisher’ TV Special
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Daredevil: Born Again Spoilers Ahead!

The latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again recently made its way to the screens, and the way the show has delivered this time around already seems to be better than all the past episodes from the saga. One of the major reasons behind this is that it finally seems to have brought back Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, aka the Punisher.

Daredevil: Born Again. | Credits: Marvel Studios.

For one, while no serious progression has found its way into Frank’s story, the anti-hero was still once again introduced to the screens years after his original television series concluded airing on the screens. But his unhinged mind being teased this way was actually enough—not to mention, Bernthal himself is looking forward to carrying the same in The Punisher TV special too.

I Will Not Forgive MCU for Deleting a Crucial White Tiger Scene From Daredevil: Born Again That Showed White Tiger Amulet’s Power
Image
MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again is stunning the fans with new twists and turns with each episode. From Matt Murdock’s fresh outlook on life to having to deal with devastating tragedy after tragedy, the show has been quite an emotional roller coaster from the start.

Charlie Cox in MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again (2025) | Credits: Marvel Studios

While fans have been happy about Charlie Cox and the rest of the crew being a part of this reboot show after Netflix canceled the original Daredevil show after 3 Seasons, their inclusion sure comes at a cost. Unfortunately, that cost is becoming heavier to write off as the story progresses further.

However, even with all the deaths and tragedies the MCU show has been portraying from the start, nothing has made me angrier than the recent episode. Or, rather, learning a tidbit about Episode 4, has sent me down a spiral of despair.

“Ultimately, I Didn’t See It”: Jon Bernthal Originally Turned Down ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Image
Jon Bernthal wasn’t always happy with The Punisher’s role in Daredevil: Born Again, so much so that he turned down a role on the show before it was revamped. More than five years after The Punisher was canceled by Netflix, Bernthal is officially back as Frank Castle after The Punisher made his MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4. Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) hunt for clues about who could be behind the death of Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes) leads him to Frank Castle, and the two get into a vicious war of words. However, during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly to talk about his role in Born Again as well as his upcoming Punisher solo project, Bernthal revealed he wasn’t initially pleased with how Frank was going to be used in the show:...

‘Daredevil’ Episode 4 Brings in an Old Friend — and New Enemies
Image
[Editor’s note: The following review contains spoilers for “Daredevil: Born Again” through Season 1, Episode 4.]

Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) have always had a lot in common, including a shared belief their beloved city needs to be cleaned up. In “Daredevil: Born Again” Episode 4, written by David Feige & Jesse Wigutow and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Matt faces the limits of his above board legal work when he infers that he’s up against police officers — some of the most dangerous individuals he’ll ever encounter, all protected and propped up by the system he has no choice but to trust.

Matt doesn’t believe for a second that Hector (Kamar de los Reyes) was executed by Punisher Aka Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), and moves right to the obvious answer: it was the cops, because Hector got in their way, and his freedom was both an inconvenience and an insult.

As much as Fisk was and...

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 Recap and Spoiler Review — Why Does The Punisher Return?
Image
The fourth episode of Daredevil: Born Again is a Wilson Fisk-centric episode that delivers the goods. Vincent D’Onofrio gives a remarkably restrained performance, showing that his manipulation is just as terrifying as when Fisk becomes physically violent. The psychological depth D’Onofrio brings to the role provides the series with its edge.

We have seen the Daredevil universe (Ddu) bring back Bullseye and The White Tiger. So, who else will series creators Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord have in store for us in “Sic Semper Systema”? Plenty of jaw-dropping moments, including the return of a beloved Marvel character!

However, a new ominous figure is introduced: a serial killer who wears a white mask with dark streaks down the face, resembling blood. Could this be the Marvel villain Muse? We aren’t sure. We see him at the beginning and end of the episode, draining the blood of one of his victims.

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 Has A Callback To Marvel's Worst Disney+ Series
Image
Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the latest episode of "Daredevil: Born Again."

If there was still any remaining doubt over whether "Daredevil: Born Again" takes place within the familiar confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, well, there shouldn't be. There's the main title, after all, which alludes to both a popular comic book series run and the fact that the Netflix series has been "reborn" into the rest of the MCU. Of course, the first two episodes also included multiple references to the overall franchise that established a shared continuity with Marvel characters such as Joe Bernthal's Punisher (duh), Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. Now, however, the series has gone even further by directly addressing one of the more forgotten aspects of the wider universe -- and it involves, by far, the worst Disney+ series we've had the misfortune of watching.

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 Reintroduces The Punisher As The McU's Most Unlikely Therapist
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Daredevil: Born Again" season 1 episode 4

The January 2025 trailer for "Daredevil: Born Again" confirmed that Frank Castle would be featured on the show, complete with a new, scruffier look. "Born Again" episode 4 finally introduces the character into the series, and it's soon evident that he's as intense as he's ever been. Frank seems to have been lying low for a while when Matt "not Daredevil at the moment" Murdock (Charlie Cox) shows up to confront him over the death of Hector "White Tiger" Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes), who was shot in the previous episode by a mysterious assailant wearing a Punisher-style uniform and using custom ammunition marked with a skull logo. Frank handwaves this as the work of a fanboy, and makes a point of delivering a hefty dose of growling machismo as he scoffs at Matt's preoccupation with feelings.

It's easy to see the...
