Acclaimed french actor Gérard Depardieu is fully embracing his bad boy tabloid image in Abel Ferrara's "Welcome to New York." Inspired by the scandal surrounding French politician and economist Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the film stars Depardieua as a possible candidate for the Presidency of France who is arrested after being accused of raping a maid at his luxury New York City hotel. IFC Films has released a new trailer for the drama that teases all of the dark debauchery Depardieu's character has in store for audiences. "Welcome to New York" will be released theatrically and On Demand on March 27 after being cut down from its 125 minute runtime. Although audiences won't be getting the longer version that screened at festivals last year, the new trailer still guarantees a drama full of intriguing scandal and real world politics. Abel Ferrara‘s latest work Welcome to New York is a film so unflinching in its portrait of excess and moral-corruption that it makes The Wolf of Wall Street look like it was produced by Cbeebies.

Devereaux (Gerard Depardieu), one of the world’s most powerful businessmen is filled with a gratuitous sexual hunger – a man so entangled in his lifestyle of power, sex and money that he believes everything is his. This is until Deveraux sexually assaults a hotel maid in New York and finds himself arrested, on the verge of being stripped of this power. Ferrara uses the high-profile case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn as his factual basis for this slow-burning piece filled with excess and debauchery.

While doing press for his upcoming drama Libertador (a.k.a. The Liberator), actor &#201dgar Ram&#237rez revealed new details about two upcoming projects, the Point Break remake, where he takes over the Bodhi role originated by Patrick Swayze, and Hands of Stone, where he stars as boxing legend Roberto Dur&#225n alongside Robert De Niro as trainer Ray Arcel.

The new version of Point Break is set in the world of extreme sports, and while he wouldn't divulge too many details about his version of Bodhi, &#201dgar Ram&#237rez revealed how much he loves Kathryn Bigelow's original Point Break, while revealing that production starts in three weeks.

Ellen Barkin has signed on to play the female lead in the boxing drama Hands of Stone.

&#201dgar Ram&#237rez is attached to star as boxing legend Roberto Dur&#225n in the biopic, which follows his rise from the slums of Panama to boxing greatness, and his intense rivalry with Sugar Ray Leonard, portrayed by singer/actor Usher Raymond. Robert De Niro plays Roberto Dur&#225n's trainer Ray Arcel, with Ellen Barkin portraying his wife.

Jonathan Jakubowicz (Secuestro Express) is writing and directing the drama. The filmmaker is also producing alongside Jay Weisleder, Carlos Garcia de Paredes and Claudine Jakubowicz. It isn't known when production is slated to begin.

The film marks the third time that Ellen Barkin is starring with Robert De Niro, following This Boy's Life and The Fan. The actress most recently starred in Another Happy Day and the NBC series The New Normal.

Naomi Campbell's new Bollywood movie has opened to dreadful reviews in India - and now Hindus have taken aim at the film.

Campbell’s first Bollywood venture Karma, Confessions and Holi has bombed badly at the box office, with local critics calling the film an "undignified disaster” and an "unholy mess”.

And now religious leaders are letting their feelings be known about the movie, which was directed by Manish Gupta and co-produced by Robert De Niro’s daughter Drena.

Rajan Zed, the president of Universal Society of Hinduism, tells WENN, "Hindus have strongly objected to the usage of Hindu terminology in movies and Karma, Confessions and Holi has nothing much to do with karma or Holi.

"Hindus welcome world filmmakers making films about Hindu subjects but taking Hinduism seriously and respectfully and not reimagining its concepts and symbols just for mercantile greed. Holi and karma have definite meaning for devotees, and improper usage of such terms is not Ok."...
