Y: The Last Man has never been one to shy away from topical issues -- it chooses to tackle them head-on, holding up society to scrutiny and asking why we aren't doing better.

The infiltration of the Pentagon is more than a little reminiscent of the January 6 attacks on the Capitol. We've gotten to know these women throughout the season, and seeing them moving through dark halls where violent protestors destroy a government building was deeply unsettling.

The show is careful not to paint these revolutionaries as villains, but their actions are motivated by desperation. Tensions are high, but Regina's death still came as a horrific shock.

Paramount Pictures has debuted an official trailer for an indie political drama titled Georgetown, marking the feature directorial debut of Oscar-winning Austrian actor Christoph Waltz. This already premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival a few years ago, but has been waiting for a release ever since. It never played at any other festivals which is a bad sign, on top of the release delay. Paramount has released the trailer for Georgetown, directed by and starring Christoph Waltz alongside Annette Bening and Vanessa Redgrave. The film, in theaters May 14 and on digital May 18, was inspired by the bizarre true story of Albrecht Muth.

On Seed, a single bartender and sperm donor (Adam Korson) meets offspring that he never knew he had and becomes involved in their lives. The rest of the cast includes Carrie-Lynn Neales, Amanda Brugel, Stephanie Anne Mills, Laura De Carteret, Matt Baram, Vanessa Matsui, Abby Ross, and William Ainscough.

Backpackers follows Brandon (Dillon Casey) and Ryan (Noah Reid) as they travel through Europe looking for Ryan's girlfriend girlfriend Beth (Meghan Heffern). Giacomo Gianniotti plays Andrew, Brandon's slacker brother.

Both shows had dismal launches last week, attracting fewer than 600,000 viewers each. The numbers got even worse this week. Based on the fast affiliate ratings, Backpackers dropped 40% and Seed fell 20%.

The Conspiracy is directed by Christopher MacBride, who makes his feature film debut behind the camera to tell this tale. The story follows two guys named Aaron (Aaron Poole) and Jim (James Gilbert) who are making a documentary about people who believe in conspiracy theories. It begins as a basic documentary as we follow the shoulder’s of these two filmmakers as they speak with people who believe in these ideas. It is striking, to begin with, by how realistic these opening scenes are where the camera rests on talking heads who are speaking about the topic at hand.

The CW has aquired the rights to air Seed here in the Us. It's a half-hour comedy that premiered in Canada in February and has become the City network's highest-rated original comedy to date.

The Shrine - Still - CrucifixionYou really have to respect a village for sticking with Paganism 1400 years after variations of this religion have basically gone out of fashion. Paganism is a blanket term used to cover many Eastern European before the emergence of Christianity. Paganism is one of the themes within director Jon Knautz's (Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer) Canadian horror film The Shrine, which will have a World Premiere at Montreal's Fantasia July 25th. The film will have one showing at the film festival and The Shrine, unsurprisingly, shows a "pagan-looking shrine," (Fantasia) where the Polish locals hold Pagan rites for mysterious demons. In a very short amount of time Amanda Seyfried has quickly become one of the busiest and most sought after young actresses in all of Hollywood. The actress first gained notice for her role in the Tina Fey written comedy Mean Girls and later went on to star on the critically acclaimed HBO series Big Love but it was her co-starring roles in the feature films Mamma Mia! opposite Oscar winner Meryl Streep and Jennifer's Body with Megan Fox that made the actress a household name. She even recently headlined her own hit film when Dear John opened number one at the box office unseating the long-reigning champ Avatar. As of right now, I have a list of 72 individual films that could potentially go on to become 2011 Oscar nominees. If you take into consideration the additional films I currently have listed as animated and documentary contenders the list grows to 85 films. As a result I am going to break up this preliminary list of Oscar contenders into four articles and on the fifth day, this coming Friday, I will publish the list in its entirety. I felt it would be easier to digest everything this way as opposed to offering one massive list you probably wouldn't be able to look over all at once.

As for the list itself, it should be looked at as a guide to potential nominees, not a guarantee, not a lock, but simply films that could potentially go on to be remembered at the year-end Oscar race. A few of these films may not...
