"The Pitt" premiered on the soon-to-be rechristened HBO Max in January 2025, and even beyond the show's high-profile star, a big reason for the show's success is its astonishing ensemble cast. Wyle is flanked by small-screen staples like Katherine Lanasa (who plays longtime charge nurse Dana Evans) and Fiona Dourif (daughter of Brad Dourif and a horror icon in her own right), but there are also a handful of excellent newcomers like Patrick Ball, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, Supriya Ganesh, Isa Briones, and Taylor Dearden, just to name a few. Lanasa, Briones, and Dearden sat down with Variety in June 2025 to talk about the female characters on "The Pitt," and Dearden — who, yes, is the daughter of actors Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden — set the record straight on one thing right away.
"I'm nothing like Mel," Dearden told interviewer Emily Longeretta. "We're both neurodivergent and that's it. We're done."

"The Pitt" cast might be made up of relatively unknown actors, but that doesn't mean the impressive ensemble are inexperienced. In fact, part of the reason the HBO medical drama has become so successful are the incredible performances furnished by the up-and-coming stars — many of which came from a theater background. This was intentional on the part of the producers, who wanted to shoot "The Pitt" in chronological order and needed actors that were used to playing out entire narratives with minimal breaks.
But using young stage actors also had the added bonus of heightening the series' all-important realism. A lack of familiar faces only enhances the sense that you're watching a real emergency room shift play out at a real hospital. Of course, not all those faces were unfamiliar. Star Noah Wyle made his name by starring in the seminal "ER," and is now once again leading an emergency medicine team as Dr.

The talented cast of “The Pitt” includes a number of actors whose parents are also in the business. While Taylor Dearden and Fiona Dourif might, technically be considered “nepo babies,” they have more than proven themselves to be as hardworking as their emergency room characters in the hit drama on HBO’s Max.
Here is who’s related to who and where else you might have seen them before this. Some, like Dourif and Isa Briones, who plays Trinity Santos, have even acted alongside their famous family members.

Bryan Cranston has changed his mind from recent remarks he made in an interview with British GQ that he would retire in 2026.
Cranston initially told the men’s magazine that he intended to close his television production company, Moonshot Entertainment, and move to France with his wife, Robin Dearden. He also planned to sell his portion of his mezcal company, Dos Hombres, which he co-founded with his Breaking Bad costar, Aaron Paul. Many interpreted these comments to mean that the actor was retiring.
After numerous articles announced Cranston’s plan for retirement, the actor shared a lengthy post on Instagram on June 10 to clarify his thoughts.
“I am not retiring,” Cranston wrote. “What I am going to do is hit the pause button for a year after I reach my 70th birthday in 2026.”
The “year off” still includes a trip to France with Dearden as a married couple in their “latter years.

Bryan Cranston is clarifying his recent comments about his retirement plans. In a June 8 interview with British GQ, Cranston, 67, explained that he intends to retire in 2026 when he'll be 70. And his retirement won't just be from acting: he also wants to shut down his production company and sell his half of the mezcal tequila company he runs with "Breaking Bad" costar Aaron Paul.
"I want to change the paradigm once again," Cranston told the outlet about his decision, adding his wife, Robin Dearden, is at the center of his choice. "For the last 24 years, Robin has led her life holding onto my tail. She's been the plus one, she's been the wife of a celebrity. She's had to pivot and adjust her life based on mine. She has tremendous benefit from it, but we're uneven. I want to level that out. She deserves it."

Bryan Cranston is setting the record straight about his future plans. The Breaking Bad star took to his Instagram account on Friday and posted a lengthy statement explaining that he’s “not retiring” and, really, just hitting “the pause button for a year” after he turns 70 in 2026.
The clarification comes one day after an interview with British GQ, in which the actor said he would sell his half of his and former co-star Aaron Paul’s Dos Hombres Mezcal Tequila brand, shut down his production company, Moonshot Entertainment, and live the leisure life with his wife of 34 years, Robin Dearden, somewhere across the pond.
Perhaps France.
“Hey everyone, I hope this little message finds you well. Some news came out that wasn’t entirely clear…even to me. So I wanted to set the record straight,” Cranston opened in his caption to a carousel of photos of him and Robin.

“For the last 24 years, Robin has led her life holding onto my tail. She’s been the plus one, she’s been the wife of a celebrity. She’s had to pivot and adjust her life based on mine. She has tremendous benefit from it, but we’re uneven. I want to level that out. She deserves it,” Cranston said.

Los Angeles, Dec 4 (Ians) Actor Bryan Cranston is still dealing with the effects of Covid-19, and says he is yet to fully regain his sense of smell months after his battle with the virus.
During his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", the former "Breaking Bad" star opened up about his recovery from the illness, which he contracted back in March, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Bryan Cranston is feeling lucky after having recovered from his bout with Covid-19, but he still has lingering effects. The 64-year-old Breaking Bad alum appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, Dec. 3, where he revealed that even though he and wife Robin Dearden have recovered after contracting the coronavirus back in March, he still can't fully experience tastes or smells the way he used to. Bryan started the conversation with his signature wry wit, saying that he and his wife got the coronavirus early on because they "didn't want to miss out." He also quipped, "It was a surprise to us because we heard it was coming over, and then all of a sudden, she got it first....

Bryan Cranston and Tom Hanks have been friends and collaborators since the late ‘90s, but their latest get-together meant a whole lot more given their March bouts with Covid-19. Knowing how fortunate they were to be in each other’s company again, the two actors swapped stories and compared notes, as Hanks even advised Cranston on where to donate his plasma, an effort that might help others fight off the disease. What’s alarming is that Cranston and his wife, Robin Dearden, had markedly different experiences than Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson.

Bryan Cranston will always be best-known for his show-stopping role as Walter White on Breaking Bad. In addition to that role giving him fame and countless awards, it also taught him a thing or two for his personal life. The actor, who played a school teacher-turned drug dealer on the hit show, recently sat down with Today's Willie Geist to talk about Breaking Bad, his family, and his new movie, Why Him? Bryan, who is dad to 23-year-old daughter Taylor with wife Robin Dearden, joked to Willie that he will definitely use some of Walter White's tactics when it comes to intimidating Taylor's boyfriends. "I think what I would do is have a barrel next to me with some chemicals handy," he joked. "Just let them see it, you know, like, 'Oh, it's real, son. I can dissolve your body in seconds.'" We can only hope he would end it with,...

Which actors will take home the gold at this year's Oscars? While it's a nice thought that the winners in each category will ascend the steps of the Dolby Theatre based on merit alone, we all know that's not how it works in this silly town. Judging the quality of a specific performance relative to other performances is a highly subjective thing, and certainly subject to pre-existing biases. With that in mind, is it any less ridiculous to predict the winners in each category based on age, height, net worth and relationship status? I say it's not! Let's have some fun. Below, my rankings and predicted winners in each category based on totally irrelevant personal stats. (Note: All "net worth" numbers are based on 100% accurate Google search results.) Best Actress 5. Saoirse Ronan, Brooklyn Height: 5'6" Age: 21 Net worth: $2.5 million Relationship status: Single? 4. Brie Larson, Room Height: 5'7" Age: 26 Net worth...

Everyone assumed Damien Lewis would take home the Best Actor in a Drama award at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Award -- even his rival nominee, Steve Buscemi. But the SAG committee decided to give the award to someone who has been shamefully under-appreciated for the past four years: Bryan Cranston.
This was Cranston's fourth nomination for his role of Walter White in "Breaking Bad," but his first win. Overlooking his chilling turn as White in 2012 would have been criminal, despite wonderful performances over the past year from Lewis in "Homeland," Buscemi in "Boardwalk Empire," Jon Hamm in "Mad Men" and Jeff Daniels in "The Newsroom." Cranston accepted the win with the humble sense of humor we've come to love from him.
"It is so good to be bad," he quipped in his acceptance speech. "I am so pleased and so honored to receive this award."

Bryan Cranston was a jobbing actor for years… then came the role of a lifetime in Breaking Bad and three successive Emmy wins. Here he tells us how being TV's chemistry teacher/drug baron Walter White changed his life
There are some actors' names – Errol Flynn, Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp – which, even if they were not famous, would still evoke images of romance, danger, drama. Then there is Bryan Cranston. It's hard to conceive of a more prosaic appellation. It's almost perfectly anonymous. Authentic but dully inconspicuous, it's a background kind of name. A solid name for a solid character actor.
Which is what Cranston was for almost three decades. On film and on television, he was repeatedly to be found in supporting roles, slowly building a reputation as a reliable and flexible performer who was equally adept in comedy and drama. Always in employment, he would crop up in shows such as Baywatch,...
