“I want to thank my wife, my partner in life — Susan Hufford — who made this possible. Not only this, but all the good things in my life since I met her. He seemed genuinely surprised when Linda Dano (the 1993 Daytime Emmy winner for Best Actress for “Another World”) read his name.

Daytime Emmys 2018: Will Scott Clifton (‘The Bold and the Beautiful’) become 7th to win Best Actor back-to-back?
Scott Clifton
Scott Clifton (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) surprised us in 2017 by winning Best Actor at the Daytime Emmys for his role as Liam Spencer. He ranked last in our racetrack odds and was an uncharacteristically young winner at age 32. He also made history as the first man to win the Emmy trifecta of younger, supporting and lead categories. So now that he’s already made history, can he do it again? The television academy loves repeat winners, and when they like you they really like you. Of the nine actors who have won Best Actor multiple times, six of them won back-to-back. Clifton would be lucky number-seven.

The six back-to-back champs are a who’s who of soap opera history: Macdonald Carey (“Days of Our Lives,” 1974-1975), Douglass Watson (“Another World,” 1980-1981), David Canary (“All My Children,” 1988-1989), Peter Bergman (“The Young and the Restless,” 1991-1992), Anthony Geary (“General Hospital,...

Anthony Geary at an event for Carpool Guy (2005)
Daytime Emmy for Best Actor: Will Anthony Geary tie Cloris Leachman with record 9th acting win?
Anthony Geary at an event for Carpool Guy (2005)
This year's 10 pre-nominees for Best Actor at the Daytime Emmys include the defending champion, Anthony Geary ("General Hospital"). He's already by far the most awarded soap opera actor with eight wins to date (next in line are Erika Slezak and Justin Deas with six apiece), but if he wins for the ninth time he'll achieve an even bigger record by tying Cloris Leachman as the most awarded actor in Emmy history, Daytime or Primetime. -Break- Daytime Emmy Awards pre-nominations: 'Y&R' leads with 23, 'Days' at 20 Geary might also be the sentimental favorite. After playing the iconic role of Luke Spencer on and off since 1978, the 68-year-old actor decided to leave the show last year, so the TV academy may decide to give him a farewell hug for his decades of work. His first Best Actor Emmy came in 1982. There was a long gap between that victory and his next, but...

Chandler Massey ('Days of Our Lives') could make Daytime Emmys history with third win
Chandler Massey
Chandler Massey is accustomed to breaking barriers on "Days of Our Lives." He played Will Horton as the character came to terms with his sexuality and became the first person to win Best Younger Actor at the Daytime Emmys for playing a gay role. He left the NBC soap in January 2014 and was replaced by actor Guy Wilson, but Massey has one more chance to make history on his way out the door. -Break- Why hasn't Alison Sweeney ('Days') ever been nominated for a Daytime Emmy? Massey won the Younger Actor prize twice in a row (2012, 2013), and if he wins again this year he would be only the second actor to win the category three times – following Jonathan Jackson, who won for "General Hospital" in 1995, 1998, and 1999 – and the first to do so in consecutive years. Winning three in a row is a challenging feat in any category. Even...

Heather Tom
Will Heather Tom ('Bold and the Beautiful') tie Erika Slezak's Daytime Emmys record?'
Heather Tom
Heather Tom has been a staple of daytime television for more than two decades, beginning with her star-making role on "The Young and the Restless" in the 1990s and continuing into "One Life to Live" and currently "The Bold and the Beautiful." She's the two-time defending champ for Best Drama Actress, and if she wins again this year she'll tie soap opera queen Erika Slezak as daytime's most awarded actress. -Break- Daytime Emmy pre-nominations shower 'General Hospital' and 'Young and Restless,' shun online soaps Slezak played Victoria Lord on "One Life" for 42 years, from 1971 all the way through to its ill-fated online revival in 2013. For her work she won six Daytime Emmys for Best Drama Actress, more than any other woman. She is tied with Justin Deas as the second most awarded daytime actor overall; they both trail Anthony Geary, who won his seventh Emmy for "Genera.

Heather Tom, Thorsten Kaye, and Katherine Kelly Lang in The Bold and the Beautiful (1987)
'B
Heather Tom, Thorsten Kaye, and Katherine Kelly Lang in The Bold and the Beautiful (1987)
According to our racetrack odds, "The Bold and the Beautiful" star Heather Tom is likely to repeat as Best Actress at the Daytime Emmys. Tom has an impressive track record at the awards, having won four out of fourteen previous nominations. She's also the only actor to have won at all three competitive levels for drama: She won Best Younger Actress twice during the 1990s for her work on "The Young and the Restless," and she won Best Supporting Actress for "B&B" in 2011 before promoting herself to the lead race and winning in 2012. If Tom wins again this year, it will bring her career total to five, which would tie her with David Canary and Jonathan Jackson as the fourth most honored soap actor at the Daytime Emmys. Ahead of them are Anthony Geary with seven wins and Erika Slezak and Justin Deas with six apiece. But not everyone agrees Tom will win.

TV on Tap: NBC Gets "Downton Abbey" Creator to Pen a Period Dama, "Arrow" Targets David Anders and Will "Waterworld" Become a Syfy Series?
Yep. Still Happily Divorced, no need to change the theme song.

News

Yes! Comedy Central has ordered a third season of the amazing Key & Peele. I just wish Comedy Central would do something to guarantee that we have Luther, President Obama's anger translator for the next four years. At this point Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert aren't enough comedy power to make up for the combined awfulness of today's Gop.

I cringed a little when I saw out host Stephanie Miller in a spot asking viewers to give to the Salvation Army (she and fellow Current host Bill Press are competing to raise more money). Then I read that Miller interviewed Major George Hood of the Salvation Army on her show and let him dismiss the organization's anti-gay history without challenge and it made me really sad. John Aravosis of AmericaBlog has collected stories that illustrate why the organization has an anti-gay reputation.

Anthony Geary at an event for Carpool Guy (2005)
Daytime Emmys record seventh win predicted for Anthony Geary ('General Hospital')
Anthony Geary at an event for Carpool Guy (2005)
Three decades ago, Anthony Geary won his first Daytime Emmy for playing Luke Spencer on "General Hospital. Since then, he has racked up another five wins (1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008) and is tied with Erika Slezak and Justin Deas for the most victories at six each.  All of our Experts expect him to break that tie this year as he claims a record seventh Best Actor award. So strong is the support for Geary, that he has odds of just 8 to 13 to prevail again on his 14th nomination. In second place is Darnell Williams, who won this award with his only previous bid in 1985 for his role as Jesse Hubbard on "All My Children." He had previously claimed the supporting Daytime Emmy in 1983 as part of the first African American supercouple on daytime TV.  His character came back from the dead in 2008, remaining on the ABC sudser till it left the air last fall.

Interview: Julia Barr Reflects On Her Career and Brooke English, Part 1 of 2
Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Barr grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she caught the acting bug at age 8 in a local youth theater group. She appeared in a production of "Peter Pan" when she was 13 and continued acting while attending high school and college, as a theater major on a regional campus of Purdue University.

In June 1976 she landed the role of All My Children's Brooke English, where she stayed for 30 years playing one of Pine Valley's most beloved characters (and Erica Kane's biggest rival). In 2010, she appeared on the show's 40th Anniversary special later returning for a three month run. In September, she will return to AMC once again as the show comes to a close on ABC.

A "So Long Springfield" cruise is taking place on Carnival's Glory ship from July 31st until August 5th. The boat is set to sail out of New York City and visit St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Tina Sloan Says Goodbye to Guiding Light
Guiding Light</i>" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />After 72 years on radio and television, Guiding Light is going dim.

Veteran cast member Tina Sloan sympathizes with viewers she expects to be devastated by the show's airing of its final episode Friday. But she thinks fans will share her thrill about how the show told its final stories.

Check out photos of the Guiding Light cast

"I think the fans are going to be ecstatic," Sloan tells TVGuide.com. Sloan uses the same word to describe her feelings about the marriage of her character, Lillian Raines, who somehow remained single for nearly all of her 26 years on the show.

"She fell in love with Buzz (Justin Deas) two years ago and started having fun," Sloan says. "It was a different note for her; she's always been the caregiver, the generous nurse, the loving mother and grandmother. When she met Buzz, he just made her laugh,...

TV Squad Ten: Guiding Light's greatest characters of the last 25 years
When Guiding Light airs its final episode today, it won't just be the end of a remarkable television success story -- one that has endured on radio and TV for 72 years -- it will also lower the curtain on some of the most memorable characters ever. In the past 25 years that I've been watching Guiding Light, I've had the pleasure of watching the likes of Michael Zaslow, Justin Deas, Michelle Forbes and Kim Zimmer portray some of those characters.

So, in honor of what Guiding Light has achieved, the fabulous writers who have created these stories and characters, and in salute of all the wonderful actors who've brought them to life, here's Guiding Light's 10 greatest characters from the past 25 years.

10. Josh Lewis (played by Robert Newman)

With the creation of Joshua, the Lewis family became a foundation in Springfield, as integral as the Bauers and the Spauldings, and Josh was the key.
