Bob Degus (Director/Writer/Producer) is a long-time active voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, where he's been an Oscar Gold Mentor, mentoring the next generation of filmmakers. He's an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and a member of Lincoln Center Theater's Director's Lab. He's a graduate of the CTI Intensive on Commercial Theatre producing.
He produced the ground-breaking Academy Award-nominated movie Pleasantville, (with Steven Soderberg, and Jon Kilik). He was a production executive at New Line Cinema and oversaw Austin Powers, Friday, Set It Off, and more than twenty-five other films. Over his career, he has managed over a quarter-billion dollars of film production.
He just directed/produced the feature film, No Place Like Home (aka Awaken), (2022) starring Gabrielle Anwar, Henry Ian Cusick and Dave Baez, and is now preparing to direct his new film, based upon an original screenplay that he wrote.
Very early in his "life in Hollywood," he was Head of Production at Chanticleer Films where he produced, post-produced, and/or was directly involved with making more than forty 35mm shorts which received more than five Academy Award nominations during the period he oversaw the program. He personally produced two Academy Award-nominated short films, one starring Brad Pitt. His films have been seen at countless film festivals throughout the world, including, Sundance, Tornonto, Boston, and Austin.
