John Travolta's Crime Movie With 0% Rt Score Redeemed With High Accuracy Score Since One Expert Was "Very Close" To The Real-Life Mafia Boss
Image
John Travolta is an iconic actor, but his career has taken various twists and turns. The actor rose to stardom in the 1970s when he played a role in the television series Welcome Back, Kotter. His TV fame helped land him his iconic role in the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever, playing smooth-dancing Tony Manero. Soon, Travolta portrayed an equally notable role in the musical Grease as the leading male love interest, Danny Zuko. Travolta has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction.

Despite his status as an Academy Award nominee, Travolta has had plenty of misses in his career. The actor has had multiple movies score a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, including Look Who's Talking Now, Speed Kills, The Poison Rose, Staying Alive, and Life on the Line. While these scores were particularly lacking, he boasts a whole additional host of titles with single-digit scores,...

Stars: John Travolta, Spencer Rocco Lofranco, Kelly Preston, Pruitt Taylor Vince, William DeMeo, Leo Rossi, Chris Kerson, Stacy Keach, Ashley Drew Fisher, Chris Mulkey | Written by Leo Rossi, Lem Dobbs | Directed by Kevin Connolly

John Travolta’s ten-year passion project, titled Gotti, has had a troubled road to production, numerous setbacks from many issues that range from lawsuits brought on – with the infamous casting of Joe Pesci, who was cast and allegedly put on considerable weight for said role, only to be negotiated for a smaller less significant part in the production, leading to a still ongoing lawsuit. The casting of Lindsay Lohan caused a catastrophe with numerous filming days wasted and her eventual firing resulted in further delays. Meanwhile, further issues with directors caused riffs with story and studio, reinforced with the tragic and untimely death of Travolta’s son Jett Travolta, who tragically passed away at the age...

Film Review: John Travolta Captures the Life & Times of ‘Gotti’
Chicago – Probably the last classic era of romanticized organized crime in New York City was the reign of John Gotti… the high profile boss of the Gambino family from 1986-1992. Nicknamed both the Dapper Don and Teflon Don (because of his ability to avoid prosecution), he is brought back to life by John Travolta in the sparely titled “Gotti.”

Rating: 3.5/5.0

The film is directed by Kevin Connolly, who portrayed “E” on HBO’s “Entourage,” and he takes a Citizen Kane-like approach to telling the story, jumping around in the eras of Gotti’s reign, anchored by his relationship with John Jr., who followed in his father’s footsteps until desiring to leave the “life” and avoid prison (the film used John Jr.’s book “Shadow of My Father” as its centerpiece source). There is a lot of material in the film, but it is buttressed by John Travolta’s tour-de-force performance of the title character,...

New Trailer For John Travolta's True Crime Mafia Biopic Gotti
"This life of ours is a wonderful life... if you can get away with it."

We've got a new trailer for John Travolta's upcoming crime drama Gotti, which tells the story of the rise and fall of one of the most famous mafia bosses of all time, John Gotti. Travolta takes on the role of the infamous 'Teflon Don' and it looks like he gives a solid performance. Gotti seemed like a bit of an over-the-top kind of guy and Travolta nails that here. This looks like the best film project that the actor has been a part of in a long time.

Gotti follows infamous crime boss John Gotti’s (Travolta) rise to become the “Teflon Don” of the Gambino Crime Family in New York City. Spanning three decades and recounted by his son John Jr. (Spencer Lofranco), Gotti examines Gotti’s tumultuous life as he and his...

New Official Trailer for 'Gotti' Starring John Travolta as the NY Mobster
"You'll need the support of all five boroughs." Vertical Ent. has debuted a second official trailer for crime thriller Gotti, spanning three decades telling the story of legendary crime boss John Gotti Sr., as played by John Travolta. The story focuses on Gotti's rise to power in New York, as well as his wife Victoria Gotti, played by Kelly Preston, along with his son John Gotti Jr., played by Spencer Lofranco. This film was slated as a last minute premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, which seems like an odd pick. It was originally set to open last December, but has been held until this June. The full cast includes Stacy Keach, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Megan Leonard, Lydia Hull, William DeMeo, Tyler Jon Olson, Leo Rossi, and Ella Bleu Travolta. This seems like a big film, and Travolta looks menacing, but I'm not excited at all to see it. Here's...

‘Gotti’ Trailer: John Travolta Plays The Teflon Don In Biopic About Infamous Mob Boss
John Travolta in Gotti (2018)
In the new trailer for Kevin Connolly’s Gotti, John Travolta serves up some serious mob boss realness as the titular John Gotti, the infamous leader of the Gambino crime family. Vertical Entertainment is releasing Gotti on June 15 with Sunrider Productions.

Gotti went by many names: Teflon Don, Dapper Don, or just Gotti. Whatever you called him, Gotti became an iconic name. At a young age, Gotti found his way into the Gambino crime family, where he was taken under the wing of underboss Aniello Dellacroce (Stacey Keach). Utilizing a combination of cunning, guile, street smarts, and ruthless determination he quickly and effectively scaled the heights to position himself as a Capo in the organization, proving himself to be a lucrative earner.

The trailer gives a taste of Gotti’s journey as he grew resentful of the leadership the Gambino squad. To change this, he simply made trusted alliances and...

Gotti trailer, featuring John Travolta
Tony Sokol Sep 27, 2017

John Travolta stars in Gotti, for which a new trailer has just been released

“Let me tell you, New York City is the greatest city in the world. I was a kid in these streets and I made it the top,” John Travolta says as John Gotti in the trailer for the upcoming biopic Gotti. If anyone could claim “My Way” as a theme song it was the Dapper Don of the Gambino Crime Family.

Gotti “made his bones doing a piece of work for Don Carlo Gambino,” the trailer tells us. From that day on, the Teflon Don was a man on the rise. Gotti has a similar look to Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. The film will tell Gotti’s story over three decades, but will largely focus on the years after he was made boss by killing the top guy and then assuming his place.

John Travolta & Kelly Preston in Official Trailer for Crime Biopic 'Gotti'
"I will build something that nobody can destroy." Lionsgate has released the first official trailer for a new crime thriller titled Gotti, spanning three decades telling the story of legendary crime boss John Gotti Sr., as played by John Travolta. The story focuses on Gotti's rise to power in New York City, as well as his wife Victoria Gotti, played by Kelly Preston, along with his son John Gotti Jr., played by Spencer Lofranco. The full cast includes Stacy Keach, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Megan Leonard, Lydia Hull, William DeMeo, Tyler Jon Olson, Leo Rossi, and Ella Bleu Travolta. The pitch for this makes it seem like it wants to be the next Godfather, but the footage does not live up to that comparison. Travolta actually looks good in the role, but the rest of it doesn't seem that impressive to me, yet another typical mob crime biopic. Here's the...

Intense Trailer For John Travolta's True Crime Drama Gotti
John Travolta takes on the role of crime boss John Gotti in the upcoming film Gotti. It looks like he gives an incredible performance in the movie. It's good to see the actor taking on good projects again. This is probably one of the best movie roles he's taken on in a long time. Bruce Willis & Hayden Christensen in Trailer for Action Film 'First Kill'
"Let go of my son right now!" Lionsgate Premiere has unveiled the first trailer for an action thriller titled First Kill, from director Steven C. [Review] Back in the Day
There’s a certain kind of charm that comes from the kind of potentially mob-affiliated working class that you find in pockets of neighborhoods at the heart of the boxing drama Back in the Day. Written by and starring William DeMeo as Anthony, a kid from Brooklyn, he’s born to an Italian mother Mary (Annabella Sciorra) and Puerto Rican dad Jose (Manny Perez). He’s often the subject of jokes, adding an extra barrier of adversity that fuels his rage from launching firecrackers into a racist neighbor’s window to beating up a neighborhood pedophile — and, boy, can he punch. After his mother dies, young Anthony (played as teen as Christian DeMeo) is soon taken under the wing of powerful mob bosses (Michael Madsen and Alec Baldwin) who support his endeavors to train as an armature boxer under Eddie ‘Rocks’ Trevor (Danny Glover).

Beyond the usual training montage (think...

"Once Upon A Time In Brooklyn" Is One Bedtime Story That'll Put You To Sleep
Gangster movies are gangster movies; there hasn't been anything original in this genre in the last 20 years (at least). And Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn is no exception. Jumping around in time and perspective, Brooklyn is a fast-paced film that literally moves so quickly you won't be able to keep up with all the convoluted storytelling.

The cinematography shows a fine eye for light and color, but the film's take on the gangster genre seems like slumming. The script jumps back and forth in time, using two separate voiceovers to fill in details that a better screenplay could show, rather than talk about. Bobby Baldano (DeMeo) is considered a loser by his father (Armand Assante), a legitimate businessman who works in the construction industry. At the opening, Bobby has just been released from jail, and he wastes no time re-involvi...
