Ana Ortiz Expresses Enthusiasm for Potential ‘Ugly Betty’ and ‘Devious Maids’ Reunions
Ana Ortiz in Ugly Betty (2006)
TV actor Ana Ortiz has expressed her excitement about the possibility of reunions for two popular shows that shaped her career: “Ugly Betty” and “Devious Maids.”

While promoting her part in Disney+’s “Goosebumps” on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Ortiz talked about the ongoing talks for a reunion special of “Ugly Betty.”

The actress emphasized the close relationships that still tie together the “Ugly Betty” group members. “People have been talking a lot about having a reunion special for ‘Ugly Betty,'” she said. America Ferrera is the godmother of Ortiz’s son, and Judith Light and her husband, Robert Desiderio, are his godparents. Their connections go beyond acting together.

“I just texted Michael Urie.” Ortiz said, “I see Mark Indelicato almost every day.” “We’re very close and want to have a reunion.”

Ortiz also expressed excitement about the possibility of “Devious Maids” returning. When Andy Cohen,...

Judith Light Addresses Who's the Boss? Reboot's Fate and Possible Return as Angela Bower
Image
The classic sitcom, Whos the Boss?, ran from 1984-1992, and there had been talks about reviving the show on Amazon Freevee. One of its stars, Judith Light, who played advertising executive Angela Bower in all 196 episodes of the series, told Variety shed be delighted if the series moved forward with another streamer or network.

I would be delighted, Light said. But in terms of where I am and the workload that I have right now, I dont know what my availability would be. When I started my career, I said Id never do a soap opera and Id never do a sitcom. Well, I did both those things. Then I said I would never marry an actor. And I did just that. So, I learned to never say never.

I would be delighted [to return].

Light is married to actor Robert Desiderio, who starred in the ABC soap opera One Life to Live opposite Light.

Cheers' Gary's Olde Towne Tavern Rivalry Explained
Image
Gary's Olde Towne Tavern provides a hilarious rivalry to the Cheers bar, leading to an epic series of pranks and games in the "Bar Wars" episodes. Sam Malone, the owner of Cheers, faces additional rivalries with John Allen Hill, the owner of the upscale seafood restaurant "Melville's". Despite the fun and enjoyable atmosphere of Cheers, there will always be someone who has a bone to pick with the bar, adding conflict and tension to the show.

Gary's Olde Towne Tavern is the rival pub to the titular bar in the classic sitcom Cheers, and their rivalry is a hilarious addition to the show. First premiering in September 1982, Cheers depicts the "Cheers" bar in Boston, Ma, where a group of colorful locals come to drink, chat, and unwind. Sam Malone (Ted Danson), the owner of the bar, leads a cast of characters in Cheers that includes famous television personalities like Norm Peterson...

From Bezos To Billie Eilish: Who Was On The Guest List For Vanity Fair’s Oscar Party
Image
Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar party took place Sunday at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. I have all the details from inside the event, which as usual attracted the most elite of the Hollywood set who poured in after watching Everything Everywhere All at Once score seven Oscar trophies including Best Picture.

We managed to get our hands on the guest list for the event, held in a 3,000-square-foot indoor reception area, with additional courtyards and other outdoor lounge spaces. The main bar, a prime gathering spot, was 40 feet long. The guests danced into the early-morning hours.

Judith Light Reflects on ‘Who’s The Boss’ as Key Role in the Road to Variety Icon Award
Image
In February, Judith Light was in Los Angeles supporting her husband, Robert Desiderio, at a launch event for his novel “The Occurrence: A Political Thriller” when she was stopped by a woman who wanted to share how much one of Light’s roles meant to her.

“She came up to me and she said, ‘I am in a corporate job now because I watched you on “Who’s the Boss?” and I knew that women could work outside the home, and I’m teaching my daughter the same thing,’” Light recalls.

It has been almost three decades since “Who’s the Boss?” signed off. Light is starring in Netflix’s “The Politician,” and will soon be seen on the big screen in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s feature adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s “Tick, Tick … Boom.” After lending her trans-formative acting talents to numerous boundary-breaking roles, she is receiving Variety’s third-ever Icon Award at Canneseries.

St. Patrick’s Day: 7 TV Episodes on Netflix That Are Even Better Than a Pot of Gold
Ted Danson, Shelley Long, John Ratzenberger, George Wendt, Nicholas Colasanto, and Rhea Perlman in Cheers (1982)
With so much hype surrounding shows’ Christmas and Halloween specials, it’s easy to forget that there have been some great St. Patrick’s Day episodes in the TV world. So here are a lucky seven episodes that’ll get you excited to celebrate the holiday! Or make you want to stay at home and chill, since all are available to stream on Netflix.

“30 Rock”

Like a double rainbow, “30 Rock” gave its fans not one, but two reasons to get excited, as it aired two St. Patrick’s Day episodes in 2009 and 2012. However, the 2009 episode, “The Funcooker,” is the standout. Written by Tom Ceraulo and Donald Glover, the episode sees Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) attend jury duty, in which the woman on trial hilariously reflects Liz’s own work problems. She must also juggle problems that arise when her show’s stars (Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski) pass out and curse while hosting the St.

Liberal Arts may be the first Josh Radnor feature to reach UK shores, but it’s actually the follow up to his directorial debut Happythankyoumoreplease. As with his first foray into writing and directing, Radnor also fills the leading man’s shoes in Liberal Arts, pairing himself with rising star and indie darling Elizabeth Olsen. Though it manages to avoid becoming a typical cookie-cutter romantic comedy, Liberal Arts spends too much time casting a pseudo-intellectual shadow over a story Radnor seems uncertain how to resolve.

As Jesse, Radnor settles into hard-luck loser mode (even if his luck isn’t that hard at all). Saddled with an unrewarding admissions role at a local New York college and recently dumped by his girlfriend,...

'The View' Salutes 'One Life To Live'
One Life to Live (1968)
On the day that "One Life To Live" broadcast its final episode, "The View" (weekdays on ABC) paid tribute to the beloved soap. Past and present cast members from the show joined Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd for a look back at the soap's 44 seasons. And one of the central themes of the discussion was how a series that focused on the many tangled relationships of the Lord family actually produced quite a few real-life marriages.

Kassie DePaiva, who played Blair Manning, was the first on stage, with her husband James DePaiva, who played Max Holden. The two talked about how their on-screen romance turned into a real-life marriage. "We had met at a bar and she thought I was a jerk," James remembered. "We had these wonderful scenes where we threatened each other's life or have these wonderful torrid love scenes ... the problem came when we started...

Cross- Country 'Betty'
If ever a TV series celebrated the joys and challenges of life in New York City, it's ABC's Ugly Betty. Not since Adam West and Burt Ward battled Day-Glo baddies as Batman and Robin in a 1960s comic-book version of Gotham has the city been depicted on the small screen with such brightly stylized "Kapow!" Based on a Colombian telenovela, Ugly Betty stars America Ferrera as Queens-born Betty Suarez, who takes on the turbo-powered world of high fashion in her job at Mode magazine, a Manhattan-based publication headed by a womanizing editor, Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), and a conniving creative director, Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams). The pilot was shot in New York in 2006, but the first two seasons were filmed in Los Angeles. Then the Empire State notched up its incentives for film and TV production, and network series began cropping up all over town. Suddenly it was cost-effective to...
