Dennis Lehane is one of the most respected popular writers working, and Hollywood has been paying close attention to his books for the past 20 years. Not many authors can boast that Martin Scorsese made their book into a movie, but Lehane can thanks to Scorsese's "Shutter Island."

Though hesitant to personally adapt his books into screenplays, Lehane himself has more than a few credits as a screenwriter. He was part of "The Wire" writers room and developed the 2022 prison drama mini-series, "Black Bird."

The first Lehane movie was 2003's "Mystic River," directed by Clint Eastwood. The movie created quite a buzz, getting six Oscar nominations and netting Sean Penn the Best Actor award. (It understandably lost Best Picture to "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.")

Lehane's first novels were a five book run about the Boston...

Mystic River: Why Clint Eastwood's Best Movie Still Holds Up Today
Image
A filmmaker of Clint Eastwood's caliber is going to have a filmography full of gems. Primarily known for his work in Westerns, biopics, and military dramas, every so often, Eastwood steps outside his comfort zone and delivers in a genre that would seem completely unexpected on paper. That happened in 2003 with Mystic River, a neo-noir murder mystery drama that seems a bit forgotten or overlooked, even though it was a financial success and earned six Academy Award nominations. It represents Eastwood at his very best, breathing vivid life into complex characters as he examines a plethora of themes that range from loyalty, friendship, revenge, and, ultimately, forgiveness.

Mystic River is based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane, and it follows the lives of three childhood friends, Jimmy Markum (Sean Penn), Sean Devine (Kevin Bacon), and Dave Boyle (Tim Robbins), living in Charlestown, Boston in 1975. Dave...

'Territories' Movie Review
by Marcey Papandrea, MoreHorror.com

Right off the bat I will say that Territories is a challenging film, both in its message and execution. This is what I would call a political horror film, and it really does deliver with both things. I went into this film without any real prior knowledge. I had no expectations and I didn’t know what to expect. This is one of those films that I think benefits from that, so I will keep this review as vague as possible on the plot points.

The beginning scene of Territories is intense and it will keep your heart pounding. It starts off with Dirge by Death In Vegas playing and we see a group of people driving in their car. There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with them, they look like a normal bunch of people. As this happens you begin to question...
