McGee's (Sean Murray) ambitions to become the deputy director were thwarted when Laroche (Seamus Dever) was given the position in NCIS Season 22. As the season unfolded, McGee developed suspicions about his new rival. While he was convinced that something was amiss, other characters thought he might have been trying to cope with losing to Laroche. The Season 22 finale took everything in a different direction as the team uncovered a major operation. By the end, Laroche left his position wide open for McGee to try again. However, NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder is unsure that McGee becoming the new deputy director would be a step in the right direction for the character. "I’m not sure how much fun there is to be permanently putting McGee in a middle management role," he told TV Insider when discussing what's on the horizon in Season 23.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the NCIS Season 22 finale “Nexus.”] The NCIS team might have to do without pastries for a while: Parker (Gary Cole) isn’t going to be the Parker we’ve come to know and love when Season 23 begins. That’s because the last scene of the Season 22 finale saw him arrive home, after mob boss Carla Marino (Rebecca De Mornay) made it clear she blames him for her son’s death (he told him about her criminal activity) but killing him would be too easy, to find his father dead. Meanwhile, it turns out that Laroche (Seamus Dever) isn’t dirty; he was working undercover for the Department of Justice. Below, executive producer Steven D. Binder explains Parker’s father’s death, teases how the agent will deal in Season 23, and much more. Why kill off Parker’s father and ...

The "Nexus" storyline has all been leading up to this. NCIS Season 22 has been teasing the "Nexus" throughout the previous Season 22 episodes, with Gabriel Laroche (Seamus Dever) in particular facing a huge season arc that saw damning evidence in Episode 17 completely changing the game. Now, after all the season's typical twists and turns, just one episode remains, and, based on the promo available to watch below, it is simply unmissable.
Aptly titled "Nexus," NCIS Season 22, Episode 20 has all the makings of a classic finale for one of network television's finest procedurals. With gunfire, action, and even a slice of humor all packed into a short ten-second clip, the fast-paced Season 22 looks to be going out with a bang. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 22 Episode 19 “Irreconcilable Differences.”] McGee (Sean Murray) is determined to take down Laroche (Seamus Dever) no matter what on NCIS, and in the penultimate episode, his former boss who knew a thing or two about personal pursuits, Gibbs (Mark Harmon exited in Season 19), is brought up quite a bit. The episode begins with McGee, dressed like Gibbs and even pouring himself a drink like the man, in his basement, noticing an Alaska postcard. Then the TV in the room shows a feed of himself there … walking around the back of a boat, so McGee follows suit. It says Tim. When he hears someone upstairs, his immediate reaction is “Boss?” but it’s Laroche. “Don’t look so surprised, you knew this was coming,” he says before shooting him, and McGee wakes at his desk to everything he has on the man on his computer screen. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 22 Episode 17 “Killer Instinct.”] Well, McGee (Sean Murray) just learned he’s definitely right to be suspicious of Laroche (Seamus Dever). The realization comes after the agent saves the deputy director’s life from a hitman in the latest NCIS episode. To McGee’s confusion, his wife Delilah (Margo Harshman) gets off the elevator at NCIS with Laroche and are seemingly getting along. (She calls him Gabe.) She thinks he’s nice, but McGee protests, showing a mint (Laroche’s brand) he found under his desk, an indication, as he sees it, that he’s been spying on him. And this isn’t about losing out on the job to him, he insists, but rather about him hiding things from the team and playing politics with cases. After an anonymous tip, the team arrests and interrogates a hitman known as The Poet, only for him to die by suicide...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for NCIS season 22.Timothy McGee has a big problem in NCIS. Sean Murray's character was vying for the promotion to NCIS deputy director in NCIS season 22, episode 1, "Empty Nest." McGee failed to secure the promotion, losing the position to former Department of Defense Inspector General Gabrielle Laroche. McGee's aspirations revealed that Parker's senior field agent feels he's outgrown his Major Case Response Team (McRt) rank. Still, there's relatively little growth for McGee outside a promotion to director or deputy director, which isn't currently in the cards.
McGee decided to advance his career after a six-month time gap following the NCIS season 21 finale. The senior field agent initially turned down a promotion to lead McRt following the exit of Agent in Charge Gibbs, citing that he didn't want the desk job. Still, McGee's brief stint as temporary NCIS director in the 1000th episode of NCIS may have...

Spoiler Alert for NCIS season 22, episode 9, "Humbug"
While NCIS has been focusing on Gabrielle Laroche as the titular agency's potential mole, the season 22 mid-season finale subtly presents an alternative. A new figure emerges in NCIS season 22, episode 9, and the guest star could be the agency's covert operator. All the while, Seamus Dever's NCIS villain could be a distraction. The new Deputy Director first appeared in the NCIS season 22 premiere. Laroche was the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, and the team suspected he leaked intel because he was the only person outside their trusted colleagues who had access to the information.
However, when taking a second look at the NCIS season 22 premiere, the team only suspects Laroche because he has access to the file, and a broad scope of NCIS employees could know about Nick Torres' undercover operation. Mischa Barton is the unexpectedly canny flower-bothering sleuth here in a not very mysterious costume thriller
Serviceable but underwhelming, this murder mystery is very old-school in every way, reminiscent of many an Agatha Christie page-turner and even more so of Christie’s innumerable imitators. It’s like someone used AI to write the script, plugging in parameters such as “set it in the 1930s”, “plucky Englishwoman protagonist” and “ethnically diverse cast of supporting characters/suspects”.
And so we have Mischa Barton playing Miranda Green, a florist by trade and naturally an avid reader of Christie; she gets a mysterious invitation and train tickets to visit the home of textile magnate Lord Findlay on an island. On the train, Miranda meets several other guests, all as bemused as she is at the invite: rangy and rude Yank Walker (Chris Browning), smooth Brit lawyer Lawrence Kane (Seamus Dever), Spanish waitress Carmen Blanco...

NCIS ends its 2024 run of episodes with a long-awaited Christmas-themed episode, five years since the last one. Season 22, Episode 9, "Humbug," continues the trend of most NCIS holiday specials by having smaller stakes, but a heartwarming story. The Major Crimes Response Team (McRt) is tasked with stopping the release of a tell-all book that threatens a veteran's bill from being approved. With the suspicious NCIS Deputy Director Gabriel Laroche (Seamus Dever) returning to "assist" McRt with this case, the team sneakily operated behind his back to get the job done. Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) is given more of a spotlight in this episode as he helps the author of the tell-all book deal with their grief and move past it. Although there isn't a dry eye during this NCIS ending, the end of the episode features a huge development regarding Torres' personal life.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for NCIS season 22, episode 9!NCIS season 22's latest story update teases McGee's (Sean Murray) suspicions about a new character, Deputy Director Laroche (Seamus Dever), in the upcoming episodes. NCIS season 22, episode 9 heavily featured the new member of the team, who is acting rather suspiciously and seems to be hiding something from his new coworkers. This included actions that tampered with the team's investigation, questioning them at every turn and wanting to be involved in every facet, including witness interviews. Taking credit for an investigation he tried to stop prompts negative reactions, especially from McGee.
Speaking with TV Insider, executive producer Steven D. Binder teased how McGee will be thoroughly investigating Laroche when NCIS returns. He explained that, for right now, all the team's Senior Field Agent has to go on is suspicion, but that he'll begin peeling back the layers of their new superior when the show comes back.

As the team in the winter finale episode of NCIS worked with Deputy Director Gabriel Laroche (Seamus Dever), Senior Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) couldn’t stop being suspicious about him. Fans will recall that La Roche took the position McGee wanted in the Season 22 premiere, hence hindering his promotion. While that may warrant the senior agent’s distrust, there seems to be more to the picture than meets the eye.

The following contains major spoilers from NCIS Season 22, Episode 9, "Humbug," which debuted Monday, Dec. 16 on CBS.
NCIS Season 22, Episode 9, "Humbug" is the quintessential Christmas episode of a TV show, and that's a compliment. TV Christmas episodes tend to follow a specific mold. Audiences want a feel-good story, and then there's usually a subplot about somebody's plans for the holiday, and a lot of awkward Christmas-related humor. "Humbug" checks off all the boxes -- but does it in such a way that viewers are charmed regardless.
"Humbug" focuses on a Marine who's determined to play Scrooge, writing a tell-all book to discredit his former commanding officer. The NCIS team originally thinks Merritt Hastings is the target of a political campaign to destroy his credibility as a veterans' advocate, but the real story is much more personal. The episode is mostly carried by its guest cast, including the return of Seamus Dever as Deputy Director Laroche,...

Binder answers our burning questions about that and more. What can you say about Torres’ relationship and the identity of this person? Steven D. If you’ve been wondering when you’d hear the name Thom E. Gemcity again on NCIS, you’re in luck! McGee’s (Sean Murray) pen name will be “resurrected” in the December 16 Christmas episode. “We’re going to tease a forthcoming third Deep Six novel from McGee,” executive producer Steven D. Binder tells TV Insider. In “Humbug,” when a shocking tell-all threatens to ruin Christmas for a decorated Marine, the team must uncover the truth and deliver a holiday miracle—before the book hits shelves and turns a hero’s legacy into a holiday disaster. “It’s going to be a pretty heartfelt holiday story involving wounded veterans,” says the EP. NCIS is not wasting any time introducing major threats to the Major Crimes Response Team (McRt), which not only affects the agents personally but the entire federal organization as a whole. At one end, Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) is secretly investigating NCIS Deputy Director Gabriel Laroche (Seamus Dever) because he suspects Laroche of leaking Nick Torres' (Wilmer Valderrama) identity while undercover. As for McRt leader Alden Parker (Gary Cole), he's recently been at odds with the FBI and the CIA, but it's led to vastly different outcomes. The CIA and NCIS have never gotten along throughout the series. NCIS Season 22, Episode 5 is the most recent example of the McRt unknowingly working with a corrupt CIA agent, but bringing them to justice at the end. Even when NCIS was secretly working against the FBI to stop World War III in Episode 4, Parker and FBI Deputy Director Wayne Sweeney (Erik Passoja) bury...

Spoiler Alert for NCIS season 22, episode 6, "Knight and Day"NCIS season 22, episode 6 puts the spotlight on Jessica Knight, as she takes on a big mission. The focus has been, in part, Knight and Palmer's relationship in NCIS season 22 after Katrina Law and Brian Dietzen's characters broke up in the NCIS season 21 finale. Despite the couple breaking up due to Knight's promotion to Chief React Training Officer, which took her to California's Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, Jess reunited with the Major Case Response Team (McRt) in the NCIS season 22 premiere. While Jimmy and Jess navigate their fallout, other relationships strengthen.
NCIS season 22 has also set up dangerous villain situations for the McRt. The NCIS season 22 premiere introduces Seamus Dever's Gabrielle Laroche, the Department of Defense (Dod) Inspector General who becomes NCIS Deputy Director at the end of the first installment, who is now the team's FBI connection person.

This article contains spoilers for Tracker season 2, episode 2, "Man's Best Friend."It took Tracker 20 episodes, but the story finally honored the most vital relationship in Justin Hartley's CBS show. While Hartley's character works with people who come and go in each episode, Colter Shaw's Tracker team supports the self-proclaimed "rewardist" throughout, providing him with cases, intel, and legal support. Most importantly, Colter's team is his community. As such, the series should include Colter's team more often, which it failed to do enough in Tracker season 1. However, season 2, episode 6, significantly improved the series by bringing its characters together.
Colter has a strange run-in in "Man's Best Friend" when someone steals a dog named Barkley from his truck at the gas station before he can find its home. The dog's identification leads Colter to the scene of a home break-in where a mother and son are locked up. Colter gets...

NCIS season 22 has already featured several exciting storylines, several of which were teased in the NCIS season 21 finale. While Vance is not usually a major character in NCIS's most stressful stories, season 22's latest update means that he will be a key player in the most exciting narrative of the season.

But rather than join NCIS as a pleasant addition to the team, Laroche poses a huge threat. As the newest member of NCIS, Laroche also complicates Vance's job as the director.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for NCIS season 22, episode 2.The NCIS season 22 premiere introduced the team's biggest threat, but it was a huge disappointment when the next episode failed to address it. NCIS season 22 introduced the idea that there was a mole in the agency, and the cliffhanger at the end of the premiere seemed to be the perfect segue into episode 2. Warning! Spoilers ahead for the NCIS season 22 premiere. At the end of its premiere, NCIS season 22 officially decides the fate of Timothy McGee in the Major Case Response Team. CBS' #1 procedural drama is back after the summer break with a riveting case that involved some creative time play. In NCIS season 22, episode 1, "Empty Nest," Alden Parker finds the bullpen empty, until Nick Torres' distress call forces him to reach out to Jessica Knight, who is already based in Camp Pendleton for help. In the end, the case is solved, but as it turns out, there's still a bigger problem out there, especially for McGee.
Currently, there are no more original cast members in the active roster of the show, leaving Sean Murray's McGee as the longest-serving active player in McRt. The character was introduced a few episodes after the NCIS pilot and was eventually promoted to a series regular.

NCIS season 22 introduced a new villain, Gabriel Laroche, to the series, and it's about time. Some of the best seasons of NCIS involve an over-arching narrative with a recurring villain, setting up NCIS season 22 to stand out among the rest. Medical examiners are often forgotten about in film and television, as the more glamorous role of detective is usually centered in crime stories. However, there are certain TV shows that feature strong medical examiner characters, sometimes even putting them in the role of protagonist. Often serving as foils to the brash and action-oriented detectives, the medical examiner's character is often logical and dedicated to finding the truth. Many of the most exciting crime dramas give their doctors and scientists the chance to step outside the lab and see what it's like in the field.
Though not every crime show is a procedural, many of them fall into this genre.
