The Arrow in the Head Show digs deep into Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Kevin Bacon, Adrienne King, Ari Lehman, Robbi Morgan, Betsy Palmer, and Jeannine Taylor in Friday the 13th (1980)
The Arrow in the Head Show hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are clearly two guys who are after my own heart. I say this because Friday the 13th is my favorite franchise, so I find that I can never go too long without watching a Friday the 13th movie. The Arrow and Lance seem to be right there with me, because they talk about Friday the 13th movies with some frequency – and in the latest episode of The Arrow in the Head Show, they’re taking a deep dive into the 1989 sequel Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (watch it Here)! To find out what they had to say about Jason Takes Manhattan, check out the video embedded above.

Written and directed by Rob Hedden, Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan has the following synopsis: Mass murderer Jason Voorhees is resurrected from the bottom of Crystal Lake.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan – Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?
Rob Hedden and Kane Hodder in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
It’s time for a new episode of our Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, and in this one we’re looking back at a poorly-received entry in a beloved slasher franchise. A movie that marked the end of an era. The horror movie covered in this episode is Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (watch it Here), which was not only the last Friday the 13th to be released in the 1980s (since it came out in ’89), but also the last one to be distributed solely by Paramount Pictures. After this one, there would be a four year break between films while the franchise moved over to New Line Cinema. Why was Jason Takes Manhattan so underwhelming that Paramount gave up on Friday the 13th? Find out by taking a look at the video embedded above.

Written and directed by Rob Hedden, Friday the 13th Part VIII...

"The X-Files," Season 11, Episode 4 Recap: That’s a Mirror
X-Files Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering Chris Carter's 10-episode continuation of the X-Files television series. Some late-night chatter overheard at a diner: “The world’s gone mad…” says Martin (Dan Zukovic), a man of wild stare and clammy brow. “…because Martians have invaded, but nobody seems to care!” The eatery’s owner, Buddy (Alex Diakun), tries to calm the guy down with a bit of coffee and straight talk, but Martin—convinced that these extraterrestrial invaders are using some kind of mind-erasing laser gun—isn’t having it. His paranoia is soon proven true, since Martin turns out to be one of the bulbous-headed, multi-appendage aliens and Buddy is actually Satan himself. (What a twist!) But just before the big reveal, a fearful Martin points down the counter, right at the camera—at us, the audience, watching. “There! I just saw one!” he says, “Outside through that window!

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny in The X-Files (1993)
How The X-Files Paid Tribute to Those It Lost in "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster"
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny in The X-Files (1993)
When The X-Files returned to Fox, it brought more than just Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) back with it. Eagle-eyed fans can tell you this. In "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster," not only did the show bring back stoner characters played by Tyler Labine and Nicole Parker, but it also cast Alex Diakun in a new role, featured Mulder in red briefs (never forget) and had callbacks to Scully being immortal, her dog and the 1970s series Kolchak: The Night Stalker. And that's not all. Two familiar names were featured on tombstones in the graveyard: Kim Manners and Jack Hardy. Manners directed more than 50 episodes of The X-Files and Hardy served as the first Ad on Millennium and The X-Files: I...
