Imagine this: What if Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) set up the serial killer club as part of his elaborate plan to lure in the Bay Harbor Butcher? The Dexter: Resurrection plot twists feel like a gift that keeps on giving. And an up-and-coming fan theory suggests we might just have another on our hands.
According to the theory, Prater, owing to his connections inside the FBI, might be privy to knowledge about the Bay Harbor Butcher case that never went public. He might know that the evidence against Sergeant James Doakes (Erik King) doesn’t add up. The elite serial killer gatherings Prater’s been organizing for all these years could simply be a setup to entice the killer of all killers: our very own Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall).
The theory also states Prater might not know who the Bhb is, but that he does know he’s still out there,...

Dexter: Resurrection, which premiered last month on Paramount+ with Showtime in the U.S. and on Amazon Prime Video in India, is already being hailed as one of the best seasons in the franchise’s history. Boasting a stellar 94% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score and a rock-solid 9.2/10 IMDb rating, anticipation is sky-high for the upcoming seventh episode, Course Correction. This follows the jaw-dropping Episode 6 twist that the Gemini Killer, aka Gareth, was actually one of a pair of twin serial killers, with Dexter having already killed one of them.
Throughout the season, viewers have met several chilling killers, thanks in part to Leon Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) obsession with them. But one name that’s the most mysterious of them all is the New York Ripper. Known for brutally mutilating victims, the unidentified killer has only been referenced through news reports, police chatter,...

There is no Toxic Avenger without Lloyd Kaufman — and that includes writer-director Macon Blair‘s new take on the cult classic.
In addition to serving as a producer on the superhero horror-comedy reboot, the Toxic Avenger creator makes a cameo in the film as The Hospital Grump.
“Macon gave Uncle Lloyd a wonderful cameo — much better than James Gunn does,” Kaufman jokes with Bloody Disgusting.
“My father used to say, ‘If you rub the back of a hunchback, you have good luck,'” he adds. “With James Gunn and some of the other people who’ve come out of Troma, I’m that hunchback. I haven’t told Macon about that, but he has to rub my hunchback.”
After Lloyd Kaufman gave him his start in the industry, James Gunn has repaid the Troma president with cameos in all of his films, from Slither and Guardians of the Galaxy to a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in Superman.

Fans have been waiting a long time to see writer/director Macon Blair’s remake of the Troma cult classic The Toxic Avenger (watch it Here), which wrapped filming way back in 2021 and unveiled a teaser trailer near the end of 2023, around the time it had its world premiere screening – but we won’t have to wait much longer. At the start of the year, it was announced that Cineverse had acquired the distribution rights with the intention of giving the film a wide release, and they’re aiming for an August 29th theatrical release… and if you’re interested in learning some behind-the-scenes information about the new Toxie movie, you might want to pick up a copy of Dan Jolin’s book The Toxic Avenger: The Art and Making of the Movie, which is set to reach store shelves on November 11th. [This story contains major spoilers from episode six of Dexter: Resurrection.]
Another killer bites the dust… on second thought, two more killers bite the dust. On third thought, maybe it really is just one? The math’s getting confusing here on Dexter: Resurrection, as the latest episode brings us two casualties and one resurrection — with potential to change those numbers in the weeks ahead.
The sixth episode, “Cats and Mouse,” sees Dexter (Michael C. Hall) stalking the Gemini Killer, played by David Dastmalchian, a murderer so famous as to top the FBI’s most-wanted list. As easily as he evades the feds, the Gemini Killer is no match for Dexter Morgan, as he all but ties himself up to the wrong end of the killing table. But both Dexter and Dexter viewers get quite the shock at the end of the episode when the Gemini Killer casually meets back up with Dexter and their fellow murderous peers, as if nothing happened at all.

At the end of last week, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) seemed to wrap things up a little too neatly. He took Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter) off the board without drawing suspicion, seemingly clearing Harrison (Jack Alcott) in the process. But as we’ve learned, nothing is as easy as it seems.
As we turn to the home stretch on this season of Dexter: Resurrection, things go from safe to white hot in a hurry. This week’s episode, “Cats and Mouse,” sees Dexter dealing with issues on a couple of fronts. Let’s dive into the details. Spoilers Below.
Father-son bonding
If nothing else, Dexter’s work last week brought father-and-son closer. He and Harrison are in a better place. He’s more open to sharing and is now an advocate for Harrison living a safer, murder-free life. That’s a new kind of role for Dexter. As we begin,...

[Warning: The following post contains major spoilers about Dexter: Resurrection Episode 6, “Cats & Mouse.”] Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) found himself in double trouble by the end of the latest episode of Dexter: Resurrection. After Mia a.k.a. “Lady Vengeance” (Krysten Ritter) was arrested for her many murders — and one attempt foiled by Dexter — all of Leon Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) crew went into crisis mode. Charley (Uma Thurman) scrambled to gather and calm — or perhaps just control — his secret friends, while Gareth a.k.a. The Gemini Killer (David Dastmalchian) and Al a.k.a. Rapunzel (Eric Stonestreet) worried she might turn them in and needed to be dealt with. Prater, who was in the middle of a publicity stunt (being interviewed by Lesley Stahl and the like), didn’t seem to disagree. Dexter was not a fan of Gareth’s blasé (and sexist) attitude about Mia, and he was especially disgusted by him after looking at photos ...

"Sometimes you gotta do something..." Ready for this monster mayhem? Empire Magazine & Signature Ent. has debuted a brand new official UK trailer for the gnarly, violent, crazy new horror remake of The Toxic Avenger. The movie will hit UK and US theaters (both!!) starting August 29th at the end of the summer. The original The Toxic Avenger from 1984 is a Lloyd Kaufman / Troma horror cult classic. Many sequels were made, and spin-offs, but now Troma has teamed up with Legendary for a brand new take. Macon Blair's The Toxic Avenger reboot follows struggling everyman-janitor Winston Gooze (starring Peter Dinklage as our new anti-hero) who is transformed by a horrible toxic accident into a new evolution of superhero: The Toxic Avenger!

Grap your mop, everyone: the Toxic Avenger is back. In the mid-‘80s, the original The Toxic Avenger became the definition of a cult favourite – a scuzzy, super lo-fi blast from the team at Troma Entertainment, with a janitor transformed into a melty-fleshed crimefighter after a toxic waste incident. Produced for just $500,000, it became something of a VHS legend with its gnarly effects, and transgressive energy. Several decades later, ‘Toxie’ is back in an all-new take on The Toxic Avenger – with Blue Ruin and Green Room star Macon Blair as its writer-director, bringing fresh mayhem to the screen. This time, the Toxic Avenger is played by Peter Dinklage (with Luisa Guerreiro under all the makeup after the transformation), and there’s a stacked cast all round for this one. Check out the UK trailer exclusively here:

This month’s The Toxic Avenger has been a long time coming. The upcoming iteration has core origins courtesy of Legendary Pictures in 2018, with the movie wrapping production in 2021 and screening at Fantastic Fest in 2023. The Lord of the Rings trilogy of films, directed by Peter Jackson and based of course on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, were a cinematic sensation. The fandom has created plenty of memes, with one now being addressed by a Hobbit himself.
There's one meme that always gets a laugh from Lord of the Rings fans - the idea that Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) goes through the whole trilogy without ever learning the name of his ally Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Hobbit and elf are both part of the Fellowship of the Ring, but the two never actually exchange words throughout the whole trilogy, and when Frodo is reunited with the rest of the Fellowship after his ordeal at Mount Doom, he says all of their names except Legolas'.
While on the promotional trail for his new movie The Toxic Avenger, Wood was asked directly about the famous meme by ScreenRant.

The Toxic Avenger’s journey from toxic waste to cult legend has been a wild one these last few decades, with Troma originally introducing the mutated superhero way back in 1984. That was just four years after a young Kevin Bacon got throat-stabbed in the original slasher classic Friday the 13th, and all these years later, Bacon is now joining The Toxic Avenger franchise!
Over 40 years after the original Troma cult classic, The Toxic Avenger is returning to the big screen with its biggest movie to date, an unrated experience from director Macon Blair that’s being unleashed by Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting on August 29. You’ll only be able to see it up on the big screen, and Kevin Bacon wants to make sure you show the fuck up.

Perhaps the unlikeliest superhero franchise of all is "The Toxic Avenger," a low-budget flick produced by Troma Entertainment in the '80s. As the cult classic gradually found its audience, it spawned a line of sequels, a wave of merchandising, even its own widely forgotten animated series. Blending gory horror with cheap superhero action, often with an undercurrent of social commentary, the Toxic Avenger was the ultimate underdog hero for the late '80s and early '90s. But rather than falling into obscurity, the Toxic Avenger has risen from the cinematic grave multiple times since his debut, including with the property's Peter Dinklage-led revival in 2025.
For those who missed out on Toxie, as fans refer to him, and are curious about the mutated crusader, there's a whole history to the franchise's surprising growth. The influence of the Toxic Avenger series has an impressive span, including with "Guardians of the Galaxy...

The Lord of the Rings trilogy released in the early 2000s can arguably be billed as one of the greatest of all time, a masterpiece. The movies follow the story covered in J.R.R. Tolkien books with filmmaker and director Peter Jackson, bringing the story to life. Central to the story was Frodo, played by Elijah Wood, and his journey to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom. To fulfill the mission, Frodo needed an unlikely group of companions, a fellowship of several races in Middle-earth. One of them was the elven prince of Mirkwood, Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and a bizarre fan theory has emerged about the two characters.
The duo met for the first time in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ringmovie during the Council of Elrond and joined out of Rivendell together. In Tolkien's lore, elves, dwarves, men, hobbits, and wizards are...

The Fellowship in The Lord of the Rings is one of the best-known teams in pop culture history. Each and every one of them is an icon. We’re talking Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merry Brandybuck, Pippin Took, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir. While we know all their names, apparently, they might not know each other as well as we thought.
Yes, we’re talking about the long-running fan theory that Frodo doesn’t know Legolas’ name. The theory has gained lots of traction over the years. And to be fair, there are a few big reasons behind it. In J.R.R. Tolkien’s original work, Frodo directly cites Legolas in his book, confirming that yes, he did know his name. However, in the film adaptation, Frodo never directly refers to Legolas by his name.

With the Dexter renaissance in full swing thanks to the recent prequel series Original Sin and now Resurrection, the popularity of everyone's favorite vigilante serial killer has never been higher. That being said, while the franchise has never had a problem with telling great stories, it has suffered a lot from what some might call terrible endings. The conclusion of Dexter in 2013 had everyone in an uproar, much the same as New Blood did nine years later in 2022. Now, star Micheal C. Hall is addressing those controversial finales, and he agrees with people that they were "unsatisfying."

Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4 saw the introduction of 4 new sinister serial killers. Episode 4, titled “Call Me Red”, aired on July 25, 2025, where Dexter (Michael C. At the dinner, we are introduced to Krysten Ritter’s Mia or Lady Vengeance, Eric Stonestreet’s Al or Rapunzel, Neil Patrick Harris’ Lowell or the Tattoo Collector, and David Dastmalchian’s Gareth or the Gemini killer (via Vulture).
Lady Vengeance, as the name suggests, hunts down sexual predators; Rapunzel or the ponytail guy has an inclination toward picking victims with ponytails because of unresolved mommy issues; the Tattoo collector collects the tatted skins of his victims, and the Gemini Killer is a Zodiac analog, and by far the most serial killer-esque of the lot.

Plot: Loosely based on the 1984 cult classic, The Toxic Avenger stars Peter Dinklage as a terminally ill janitor named Winston Gooze who transforms into a mutant vigilante after a toxic accident. He then must rise from outcast to become a hero, battling corporate greed and corruption to protect his community and step son. But does it live up to the cult status of the original?
Review: Let’s get this right off the bat. Director Macon Blair’s riotous remake of The Toxic Avenger might not win over the uninitiated, at first, but for those steeped in the radioactive grime of Tromaville, it’s a sludge-soaked triumph. A worthy spiritual successor to Lloyd Kaufman’s 1984 cult classic, this new iteration is less reboot and more reanimation—one that gleefully rips off its own limbs and reattaches them with the kind of DIY gross-out ingenuity only a Troma fan could love.

The Toxic Avenger is a movie that many people believed would never see light of day. Despite being completed almost two years, the film has sat in limbo, throwing out small teasers, trailers and images to let everyone know it still exists. However, now, the movie is ready to unleash its insane, gory madness on the world in just over a month’s time. But what made director Macon Blair choose Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage for the lead role of this remake of the classic Troma Entertainment property? Simply, he likes him.
During a short interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Blair was asked his reasons for making Dinklage the star of his movie by The Hollywood Reporter, to which he replied:
“I just like working with people that I like, and [have] senses of humor, and if I have had a good time with them in the past, I like to keep it going.

The new version of The Toxic Avenger is finally coming to movie theaters, and it comes with a popcorn bucket that's perfect for the film. Of course, that also means that it's not very appetizing.
In a post shared online, the Cinemark theater chain unveiled their official Toxic Avenger popcorn bucket. Appropriately, it's in the form of a toxic waste barrel, a reference to the chemicals that cause the titular monster's transformation. Added details make the bucket look rusty with green ooze seeping out from the top. It comes with a lid with a hazard sign on top, and a look inside reveals that the interior appears smeared with green slime. It may be among the more unusual popcorn buckets seen in recent years, but Toxie would be proud.

Popcorn buckets have been getting more and more elaborate in recent years, and more expensive. While The Fantastic Four’s $80 Galactus bucket will break your wallet, The Toxic Avenger’s vessel of choice will really get you wasted – toxic wasted.
Yes, in what is possibly a no-brainer movie, Macon Blair’s reboot of the Troma Entertainment franchise is giving fans the chance to own a toxic waste barrel of their very own to munch their popcorn out of, and it looks fantastic.
Of course, you don’t need to buy a popcorn bucket to enjoy a movie, but for those who love to collect the vast array of collectibles out there, The Toxic Avenger’s design is pretty flawless, from its weathered outer design, to its radioactive green interior bearing the movie’s logo. Who knows, maybe your popcorn will end up turning you into an unconventional superhero?

Star Elijah Wood has found humor in a bizarre theory about The Lord of the Rings involving his character Frodo and fellow Fellowship member Legolas Greenleaf. The beauty of Peter Jackson's first Lord of the Rings movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, lies in the unlikely group of allies setting out on a dangerous, life-altering journey together.
Hobbits, elves, dwarves, men, and wizards usually don't mix, but in this case, they all had a common goal and found common ground. Sean Bean's Boromir found friendship with the hobbits. John Rhys-Davies' Gimli came to an understanding with the elves. And yet, according to one peculiar yet hilarious Lord of the Rings theory, two members of the Fellowship barely knew each other.

Spoiler Alert: The following article contains major spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4.
The fourth installment of Dexter: Resurrection finally assembles its complete ensemble, introducing the principal antagonist, Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage), a wealthy philanthropist orchestrating the inaugural gathering of a sinister, clandestine society.
This episode, titled “Call Me Red,” presents Michael C. Hall’s Dexter adopting the guise of another serial killer as he encounters kindred spirits of his own dark persuasion. Much like the consequences he endured when forging alliances with Arthur Mitchell and Miguel Prada, he is compelled to seek connection, ignoring every caveat. Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection season 1, episode 4.The creators of Dexter: Resurrection confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that there was a very subtle cameo in episode 4 that most viewers probably missed. In Resurrection episode 4, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) sees a vision of an infamous serial killer after stepping into Leon Prater's (Peter Dinklage) museum of serial killers. Dexter has a vision then, and that character was played by a very important part of the Dexter franchise.
ScreenRant attended the Dexter: Resurrection panel at San Diego Comic-Con and learned that Resurrection executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds actually has a small cameo in episode 4 as infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy. The footage of Gacy actually comes from Dexter: Original Sin episode 7, however, meaning Reynolds has recently had parts in two of the four Dexter shows.
Scott Reynolds also has a long history with the Dexter franchise.
