Taylor Sheridan continues to be a huge draw for audiences, with the Yellowstone creator’s foray into crime thrillers proving to be every bit as popular with audiences as his neo-Western efforts. One such foray is the Jeremy Renner-led Mayor of Kingstown, which is all set to return for a fourth season. And we now know when that season will make its streaming debut.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown follows Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, the new head of the McLusky family who, for decades, have acted as mediators and enforcers while keeping the peace between criminals and cops in Kingstown, Michigan. While the series has proven to be more divisive among audiences and critics than many of Sheridan’s other franchises, fans cannot wait to see both the series, and Renner, return.

A satisfying conclusion is something that eludes a lot of popular television shows in the modern era (as it has for decades at this point), and that fact is something that makes viewers actively nervous as a long-running show gets closer to the end of its run. It's taken for granted that there's a less than 50 percent chance of "sticking the landing," a term this writer mildly detests, and that's probably true because of the massive number of factors that can hamper a creative project's success. Taylor Sheridan has a roadmap for his ever-evolving catalogue of TV shows, and his plans for "Mayor of Kingstown" should have longtime viewers feeling energized for the future of the Paramount+ show because of the careful considerations the creator has taken every step of the way.

A chance meeting at a Philadelphia restaurant turned into a viral social media sensation Tuesday morning, when former President Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden and son Hunter happened to show up on the set of Reacher.
The Bidens had breakfast at Philly restaurant Parc where the cast of Reacher happened to be filming, according to CBS Philadelphia.
Photographer Hugh Dillon was watching the show shoot a police chase when suddenly black SUVs pulled up.
“Out walked these men, that I thought they were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering,” he told the news outlet. Then someone said, ‘We love you, Joe, we love you!'”
“I thought it was the end of the scene — that they were wrapping for the day. And no, it was, you know, Joe Biden decided he needed some breakfast at Parc Rittenhouse,” added Dillon.

Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon's Paramount+ crime thriller "Mayor of Kingstown" depicts the grim realities of the small prison industry city of Kingstown, Michigan. Here, the town's most powerful operator and unofficial "mayor" Mike McClusky (Jeremy Renner) supervises the everyday proceedings of the town's deeply criminal populace and settles the many disputes among its factions.
"Mayor of Kingstown" was a decade in the making for Sheridan and Dillon (who also plays Ian Ferguson on the show), but when it got off the ground in 2021, its new seasons have graced the streaming platform fairly reliably. The show ended its third season with the thrilling season finale episode "Comeuppance" on August 4, 2024, so fans may have found themselves wondering when season 4 will arrive. Fortunately, Renner himself has now addressed this issue with an interesting production update on Instagram:

If you're here, then one or more of the following three things are true: It's the weekend, you're looking for something to watch, and you're a fan of Taylor Sheridan's shows. Thankfully, you have come to the right place for a recommendation of which of his shows to binge-watch this weekend. There's a lot of them, so it's entirely possible that you haven't watched them all.
Since debuting Yellowstone on the Paramount Network in 2018, Sheridan has expanded his television universe quite a bit in the following year, branching out with an extension of the franchise on streaming. Even beyond the Yellowstone series, Sheridan has additional star-studded shows like Lioness and Lawmen: Bass Reeves that are also worthing binge-watching.

Jeremy Renner Recalls the 'Tiny But Monumental' Mistake That Caused His Near-Fatal Snowplow Accident
On New Year’s Day 2023, two-time Oscar-nominee Jeremy Renner’s life changed when he broke more than 30 bones and suffered blunt chest trauma in a terrible snowplow accident. Renner, in a new piece for The Times, is opening up about the accident that nearly claimed his life two years ago. Renner said one “tiny” mistake led to the accident and almost cost him his life.
Renner said that he failed to do one thing that the owner’s manual for the snowplow stated. “‘Before exiting the driver’s cab! - Apply parking brake,’ the manual says. But I didn’t engage the parking brake or disengage the steel tracks. In that moment - an innocent, critical life-changing moment - that tiny but monumental slip of the mind would change the course of my life forever,” Renner wrote.

Taylor Sheridan took Hollywood by surprise when “Yellowstone” quietly became one of the biggest TV hits of the last decade. The monster success of that show even convinced Paramount to reverse course on a plan to turn Paramount Network, where the neo-Western airs, into a movies-only channel.
But no one is surprised now, as Sheridan has since created a sprawling TV empire for the studio centered on Paramount+. Alongside “Yellowstone” spinoffs “1883” and “1923,” the hit Sylvester Stallone drama “Tulsa King,” Jeremy Renner’s small town noir series “Mayor of Kingstown,” the biographical drama “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” starring David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid, “Special Ops: Lioness” with Zoe Saldaña and “Landman” starring Billy Bob Thornton prove Sheridan is no flash in the pan.

When Yellowstone ended in Dec. 2024, it was probably not much of a surprise that Taylor Sheridan wasn’t completely saying goodbye to the hit franchise he created. There are two direct spinoffs available to stream, as well as a number of projects teased or actively in the works. The latest is an upcoming spinoff starring Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser, who will reprise their Yellowstone roles in the as-yet-untitled series.

There are several other movies and shows similar to Netflix's epic period Western series American Primeval. American Primeval was written by Mark L. Smith, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Revenant with Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Peter Berg directs all six episodes of American Primeval. Taylor Kitsch leads an ensemble cast as Isaac Reed, which features Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Shea Whigham, Lucas Neff, and Kim Coates as Brigham Young. In addition to Young, American Primeval alters several real-life historical details and figures.
American Primeval uniquely blends brutal and violent elements of the horror genre with the classic Western. Since Yellowstone premiered in 2018, no one has created more TV shows than Taylor Sheridan. In those six years, Sheridan is responsible for seven new shows and a combined 15 seasons of TV. That's quite the track record.
After Yellowstone came to an end in late 2024 and with even more new seasons and shows from Sheridan on the way soon, we thought it would be a good time to rank all seven of Sheridan's shows from worst to best.
Let's get the list started with, unforutunately, the worst and most recently released of Sheridan's shows, Landman.

Jeremy Renner took to social media on New Year's Day to celebrate his second "rebirthday" following a terrible snowplow accident in early 2023 that left him with multiple serious injuries. He shared an image from his hospital bed two years ago and thanked everyone, from his nephew and neighbors who waited for first responders, to the surgeons and medical teams who helped with his treatment and recovery.

Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky in ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ (Credit: Eric Ogden/Paramount+)
Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) will continue to try and keep the peace in a town ripped apart by gangs in Mayor of Kingstown season four. Paramount+ officially renewed the drama for a fourth season, but didn’t confirm when production will get underway or a target premiere date for the new season.
Season three, filmed after Renner’s horrific accident, claimed the number one spot as Paramount+’s top series during its run, pulling in 8.8 million households.
In addition to Renner as Mike McLusky, season three starred Hugh Dillon as Ian, Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky, Emma Laird as Iris, and Tobi Bamtefa as Deverin ‘Bunny’ Washington. Derek Webster played Stevie, Hamish Allan-Headley starred as Robert, Nishi Munshi played Tracy, and Michael Beach played Captain Kareem Moore. Some obviously won’t return as their characters met untimely deaths in the third season.

Jeremy Renner successfully rallied back from devastating injuries to appear in season 3 of his popular Paramount+ show, Mayor of Kingstown. Our own Alex Maidy found the third season to be rather average in his review where he says, “As great as Jeremy Renner is capable of being, he is not given the material to elevate Mike McLuskey beyond a two-dimensional creation. While the actors are all good, they are limited by a weak story and not enough to warrant investing in. Mayor of Kingstown continues to be a bleak and depressing mirror version of Yellowstone without the soapy entertainment value that we all tune in for. Instead, this is a series that you could miss an entire batch of episodes and still tune in without missing a beat.”
However, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Mike McLusky will once again “take office” after Paramount+ renews the show for a fourth season.

Paramount+ subscribers haven't seen the last of Jeremy Renner's Mike McLusky. The streamer has renewed the hit Taylor Sheridan series Mayor of Kingstown for a fourth season.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ has renewed the crime drama from co-creators Sheridan and Hugh Dillon for Season 4. Mayor of Kingstown follows a powerful family in the fictional Kingstown, Michigan, a city whose main industry is nine penitentiaries. Renner stars as Mike McLusky, the town’s unofficial "mayor" and fixer. The Season 4 renewal shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given that the recent Season 3 was ranked the No. 1 series on Paramount+ during its run.

Mayor of Kingstown is coming back for a fourth season after a successful run for its third, Deadline confirms. The show, which follows Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) as he tries to keep peace in a city filled with gangs and corruption, continues to attract a huge audience.
Season three saw a lot of chaos, including a series of explosions and the rise of a new Russian mob in town. Meanwhile, a bloody drug war played out inside and outside the prison system, pushing McLusky into a tough spot.
Just when it seemed like he was getting control of the situation, a figure from his past—someone still locked up—threatened to undo all his efforts. And this is the basis from which the story of the fourth season will evolve.
The third season performed well with viewers, reaching 8.8 million global households, making it the most-watched series on Paramount+ during its third season.

Taylor Sheridan has come a long way since helping his friends direct low-budget horror movies like 2011's "Vile," and finding success with films like "Hell or High Water," "Sicario," and "Wind River," all of which earned heaps of critical acclaim and put the Hollywood cowboy on the map. These days, however, Sheridan is mainly focused on producing content for the small screen, and he's developed a habit of delivering hit shows without taking any breaks in between.
From the "Yellowstone" franchise to "Tulsa King," Sheridan's television series are fascinated with the concept of organized crime and how it stretches everywhere from remote ranches in Montana to big cities in Oklahoma. As of this writing, he's created eight series in total, all of which boast his distinct style that combines grit, humor, and violence while exploring social themes. Sheridan shows no signs of slowing down either, and that's great news for fans of his work.

Movies like Sicario offer explosive action, thought-provoking political intrigue, and awards-pedigree acting talent. Released in 2015, Sicario is a slow-burning thriller about the nuances of drug cartel operations and the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the movie focuses on three perspectives: an FBI agent, played by Emily Blunt; a secretive government agent, played by Josh Brolin; and an even shadowier assassin, played by Benicio del Toro. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it got a sequel three years later, Sicario: Day of the Soldado.
Only the best action-thriller movies remain comparable to Sicario, with its stunning cinematography and deeply ugly subject matter. However, many fan-favorite films by director Denis Villeneuve and other acclaimed filmmakers hit the same spots. Several are also available for subscribers on major streaming platforms or even for free, making it easy to find movies like Sicario for fans...

The following contains light spoilers from Landman Season 1, Episode 1, "Landman," premiering Sunday, Nov. 17 on Paramount+.
Taylor Sheridan adds Texas oil drama Landman to his extensive portfolio on Nov. 17 -- the fourth TV show he's created for Paramount+ and one of his ever-growing list of projects. At this point, it's natural to ask why Sheridan is making yet another television series. But Landman is actually based on the hit podcast Boomtown by Christian Wallace, and that basis in fact helps to give this project a different feel, even if some of the dramatic elements are the same.
Landman is an entirely fictional story inspired by the podcast, and carried by Billy Bob Thornton in the main role of Tommy Norris. It's a perfect character for Thornton, who embodies the grit and devil-may-care attitude of a Taylor Sheridan protagonist. And the plot brings Sheridan back to the neo-Western space in which he works best.

The neo-Western film genre reimagines the themes and ideas of classic Western movies for a modern audience. Often, this takes the form of a Western-style movie set in contemporary times, or if it was set in an earlier time period, the film blended genres and presented itself as a more targeted critique of American societal values than whats normally seen in a typical Western. Neo-Westerns are often much darker stories that tackle existential questions of life, death, and the complexities of determining good from evil.
Many of the best modern Western movies embrace a neo-Western sensibility and include works by some of the best directors of all time, such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Jim Jarmusch, and the Coen brothers. While many of these films dont focus on traditional bandits, cowboys, or outlaws, they often utilize the desolate landscapes and brooding atmospheres of classic Western cinema. The best neo-Westerns ever made...
