Following the release of Mayor of Kingstown's Season 3 finale, Dillon opened up about the series' latest shocking death, that of Emma Laird's Iris, who passed from an accidental overdose. "You know, that’s part of the authenticity of the show and where I grew up," Dillon stated. "I had struggled with heroin early on in my life, and I’ve had a lot of friends who passed away from [that]; opioid addiction is a real thing.

On New Year’s Day 2023, two-time Oscar-nominee Jeremy Renner’s life changed when he broke more than 30 bones and suffered blunt chest trauma in a terrible snowplow accident. Renner, in a new piece for The Times, is opening up about the accident that nearly claimed his life two years ago. Renner said one “tiny” mistake led to the accident and almost cost him his life.

Renner said that he failed to do one thing that the owner’s manual for the snowplow stated. “‘Before exiting the driver’s cab! - Apply parking brake,’ the manual says. But I didn’t engage the parking brake or disengage the steel tracks. When Yellowstone ended in Dec. 2024, it was probably not much of a surprise that Taylor Sheridan wasn’t completely saying goodbye to the hit franchise he created. There are two direct spinoffs available to stream, as well as a number of projects teased or actively in the works. The latest is an upcoming spinoff starring Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser, who will reprise their Yellowstone roles in the as-yet-untitled series.

Mayor of Kingstown has added three big names to its cast for its fourth season. According to Deadline, Edie Falco, Lennie James, and Laura Benanti are joining the Taylor Sheridan series, which Paramount+ renewed in December.

The series follows a family of power brokers in Detroit, starring Jeremy Renner, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Michael Beach.

The following was revealed about the roles the new additions will play:

Jeremy Renner took to social media on New Year's Day to celebrate his second "rebirthday" following a terrible snowplow accident in early 2023 that left him with multiple serious injuries. Derek Webster played Stevie, Hamish Allan-Headley starred as Robert, Nishi Munshi played Tracy, and Michael Beach played Captain Kareem Moore. Some obviously won’t return as their characters met untimely deaths in the third season.

Jeremy Renner successfully rallied back from devastating injuries to appear in season 3 of his popular Paramount+ show, Mayor of Kingstown. Our own Alex Maidy found the third season to be rather average in his review where he says, “As great as Jeremy Renner is capable of being, he is not given the material to elevate Mike McLuskey beyond a two-dimensional creation. While the actors are all good, they are limited by a weak story and not enough to warrant investing in. Mayor of Kingstown continues to be a bleak and depressing mirror version of Yellowstone without the soapy entertainment value that we all tune in for. Instead, this is a series that you could miss an entire batch of episodes and still tune in without missing a beat.”

However, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Mike McLusky will once again “take office” after Paramount+ renews the show for a fourth season.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ has renewed the crime drama from co-creators Sheridan and Hugh Dillon for Season 4. Mayor of Kingstown follows a powerful family in the fictional Kingstown, Michigan, a city whose main industry is nine penitentiaries. Renner stars as Mike McLusky, the town’s unofficial "mayor" and fixer. The Season 4 renewal shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given that the recent Season 3 was ranked the No. 1 series on Paramount+ during its run.

Mayor of Kingstown is coming back for a fourth season after a successful run for its third, Deadline confirms. The show, which follows Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) as he tries to keep peace in a city filled with gangs and corruption, continues to attract a huge audience.

Season three saw a lot of chaos, including a series of explosions and the rise of a new Russian mob in town. Meanwhile, a bloody drug war played out inside and outside the prison system, pushing McLusky into a tough spot.

Just when it seemed like he was getting control of the situation, a figure from his past—someone still locked up—threatened to undo all his efforts. And this is the basis from which the story of the fourth season will evolve.

The third season performed well with viewers, reaching 8.8 million global households, making it the most-watched series on Paramount+ during its third season.

Taylor Sheridan adds Texas oil drama Landman to his extensive portfolio on Nov. 17 -- the fourth TV show he's created for Paramount+ and one of his ever-growing list of projects. At this point, it's natural to ask why Sheridan is making yet another television series. But Landman is actually based on the hit podcast Boomtown by Christian Wallace, and that basis in fact helps to give this project a different feel, even if some of the dramatic elements are the same.

Landman is an entirely fictional story inspired by the podcast, and carried by Billy Bob Thornton in the main role of Tommy Norris. It's a perfect character for Thornton, who embodies the grit and devil-may-care attitude of a Taylor Sheridan protagonist. And the plot brings Sheridan back to the neo-Western space in which he works best.
