Rabbi Hero Battle's Evil in 'Hate's Haunted Slay Ride'
by MoreHorror.com Staff

Crystal Visions Entertainment has just released the first Jewish horror movie, Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride, on DVD. It features a Rabbi Hero wielding his Torah and Star of David in a fierce battle between supernatural good and evil. Take a look at the trailer below and some stills from the movie.

“Horror movies have historically been primarily Roman Catholic but Satan and demons started in the Old Testament, The Torah, at the creation of the earth, so they pre-date Christianity” says Writer-Director Warren F. Disbrow. “Why not do a Jewish horror film then? Why not have a Rabbi as the hero instead of a priest?”

In Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride, the latest thriller by Disbrow, he does just that. From the start we are introduced to a satanic supernatural serial killer known simply as Hate, who causes all hell to break loose in a...

The World’s First Jewish Horror Film? Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride
I used to have all these awesome trailers for Haunted Hay Ride uploaded to YouTube, but then the buttholes deleted my account, and now they're all gone... Stupid YouTube! The Haunted Hay Ride films are written and directed by Warren F. Disbrow. The slasher known as Hate "began his career by murdering his sadistic police officer father and dismembering him," explains Disbrow. "He then drilled holes in his own head with an electric drill and bolted a gleaming skull Halloween mask to his face, permanently erasing who he was as a human being. He then went on a savage killing spree that ended up at a Halloween Farm’s Haunted Hay Ride where he began butchering both the farm workers and the customers. In that first film Hate is still almost human, though we did give him a creepy inhuman voice. In Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride, Hate has a...

A Jewish horror film!?! Hate's Haunted Slay Ride, new to DVD
The World’S First Jewish Horror Film! Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride, on DVD, features a Rabbi Hero wielding his Torah and Star of David in a fierce battle between supernatural good and evil.

Why not have a Rabbi as the hero instead of a priest?” In Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride, the latest thriller by Disbrow, he does just that. From the start we are introduced to a satanic supernatural serial killer known simply as Hate, who causes all hell to break loose in a violent battle between good and evil, pitting Rabbi Shaw (Bret Warshawsky ) and detectives Fletcher (Paul Kellogg) and MacNee (Dan Griffin) up against the unstoppable Hate in his war against Judaism and Christianity.

Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride is packed with action, suspense and bloody supernatural confrontations. “I love horror movies and my goal is to make good ones” says Disbrow. The main force of...

Indie Filmmakers to Watch: Warren Disbrow Talks Hate's Haunted Slay Ride
The glitz and glamour of Hollywood never really appealed to Warren F. Disbrow when he was getting started in filmmaking. For him, one movie demonstrated that movie magic can happen anywhere - George Romero’s classic study of consumerism amidst a zombie outbreak, Dawn of the Dead. Because of Romero’s success, it inspired Disbrow to stay in New Jersey and make films the way he always envisioned.

His decision to remain on the East Coast is only one part of Disbrow’s truly independent filmmaking spirit, the other being his dedication to self-distributing all of his work, including his recently filmed upcoming project, Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride (the follow-up to 2008’s Haunted Hay Ride: The Movie). Dread Central spoke with Disbrow to discuss his brand new sequel, why being business-minded is key to the success of independent filmmakers, and why he’ll only do self-distribution for all of his films.
