King Of The Hill Breaks Into Disney+ Top 10 After 100% Rt Revival
Image
King of the Hill returned after a 15-year hiatus and has made its way onto the Disney+ streaming charts. King of the Hill season 14 picks up years after the original finale with aged-up characters. Hank and Peggy have returned to their home in Arlen, TX, after time spent away in Saudi Arabia. Now in their retirement, the Hill family has to acclimate to the modern world and learn how to navigate their free time.

Per FlixPatrol, King of the Hill has entered Disney+'s Top 10 TV shows. Season 14 premiered on August 4, and at the time of writing is currently the no. 7 show on Disney+. The series sits below the children's show Bluey and above the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The chart is topped by the new animated series, Eyes of Wakanda.

Here’s Why This New ‘King of the Hill’ Episode Is the Perfect Tribute to Johnny Hardwick
Image
Two years ago this Friday, the King of the Hill fandom and the conspiracy theorist community lost one of their brightest stars with the death of beloved voice actor Johnny Hardwick — or, at least, that’s what the Atf wants you to think.

When Hardwick passed away at the age of 64, he was halfway through recording his lines for the newly released revival season of King of the Hill, leaving his fellow voice star Toby Huss to take over the fan-favorite role of Dale Gribble, professional exterminator and extrajudicial surveillance expert. Through his outlandish (and entirely correct) theories about secretive government organizations, his insane schemes to expose his friends and neighbors for their own clandestine operations and his hilarious obliviousness of his wife’s relationship with John Redcorn, Dale developed a following of his own unlike any other King of the Hill character during the original run, and the Hulu...

The ‘King of the Hill’ Revival Quietly Fixed the Show’s Biggest Problem
Image
Hulu’s King of the Hill revival is all set to bring back the animated series created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, but with one major twist that has made the show better. Instead of Bobby Hill being just a comic sidekick, he is now a central figure in the story and has much more of a story arc. This better reflects the evolving personality of Bobby and taps into his potential while giving him more of an emotional depth.

The original animated series followed the antics of the propane salesman, Hank Hill, and his quirky family set in Arlen. It originally aired from 1997 to 2010 and the life of Hank Hill and his Texan family captivated many. But many viewers felt that Bobby had no real depth as a character and was almost always shown as a comic relief. He was depicted as a whimsical, pudgy preteen whose interests in magic,...

These Are the ‘King of the Hill’ Characters We’re Still Waiting to Hear From in the Revival
Image
The Hill Family is back on Hulu, but not every neighbor in Arlen made it to 2025.

Hulu just released the first season of its King of the Hill revival series, and the new season has already cemented its status as one of the greatest sitcom nostalgia reboots of all time, which is an admittedly manageable hurdle to clear when considering the competition. With the new King of the Hill, creators Mike Judge, Greg Daniels and their writing staff made the brilliant and ambitious move to break free from the show’s floating timeline that kept Bobby Hill and his friends stuck in permanent pre-pubescence for 13 seasons, instead choosing to address a roughly decade-long in-universe time-jump between the previous series finale and the present day by turning Bobby into a career-oriented adult and his parents into antsy retirees.

Half the fun of the King of the Hill Hulu revival has been...

Four Times Boomhauer Made the Most Sense on ‘King of the Hill’
Image
If King of the Hill fans were to choose a singular image to represent the show, it would likely be the one with Hank, Bill, Dale and Boomhauer sipping their beers in front of a fence. Only three of those characters, however, ever spoke in a way that could be understood.

The fast-talking, heavily-accented, vaguely Southern and Cajun drawl of Boomhauer — coupled with his quiet, contemplative nature — made him the least explored of King of the Hill’s main quartet, but longtime viewers still got to know him pretty well over the show’s original 13-season run. For one thing, unlike Bill and Dale, Boomhauer rarely flew off the handle. He was also much more well-read than his friends, as he was known to make references to art, literature and philosophy that go over their heads. He was morally centered and entirely sensible as well — sometimes even more so than...

King Of The Hill Revival Officially Recasts Og Character After 28 Years
Image
After 28 years, the upcoming revival of King of the Hill has recast one of the show's original voice actors. Several of the original show's voice actors couldn't return for the upcoming King of the Hill revival. Johnny Hardwick (Dale), for example, sadly passed away in 2023, before he could record lines. Given Dale's importance to the show, Toby Huss was brought in to play him.

Now, Disney has confirmed that one original King of the Hill character won't be voiced by his original voice actor. Toby Huss, who originally voiced Kahn Souphanousinphone, has been replaced by Ronny Chieng. Chieng is known for movies like Crazy Rich Asians and M3GAN. Huss is still tied to King of the Hill, as he's set to voice Dale.

The decision to recast Kahn is a simple result of changing times. Huss is a white man, while Kahn is a first-generation Laotian immigrant. King of the Hill...

Old ‘King of the Hill’ Didn’t Look That Great Either
Image
As some King of the Hill fans denounced the reboot’s new digital animation style as “stiff,” “cheap” and looking “like ass,” others begged to gottdang differ, likening the show’s cel-animated early seasons to the visual equivalent of arguing with Boomhauer.

With the exception of the show’s title sequence, which was initially created using digital animation, King of the Hill’s first five seasons were all crafted using hand-drawn animation techniques. First venturing into digital ink and paint animation with Season Six’s “Bobby Goes Nuts” — or as Bobby would put it, “That’s my cel! I don’t know you!” — before permanently adopting the medium for Season Eight, several fans invoked the series’ earlier years in defending Arlen’s new crisp look.

“‘The new season looks like shit,’ meanwhile the old seasons…,” one user captioned a seemingly edited, pixelated image of Bobby on the show’s subreddit.

'Weapons' Teaser Offers More Hints for Zach Cregger's Cryptic 'Barbarian' Follow-Up
Image
The puzzle pieces are beginning to come together, but there’s still plenty left to discover following the release of a brand-new teaser for Weapons. Taking to social media, the film’s studio, New Line Cinema, shared another clue about the madness that’s set to unfold when Zach Cregger returns for his sophomore feature-length directorial project. Starring Julia Garner (Fantastic Four), we might not see any of the other incredibly famous faces that fill out the mysterious horror thriller, but the sneak peek certainly gets us up close and personal with the Ozark alum.

Leaning into the fictional missing children’s case that has been at the center of the marketing team’s promotion for the film, the teaser shows various newspaper clippings that have all been written about the night a group of children disappeared into the dark. The excerpts walk viewers through the details of the case,...

Hank Hill’s Glutes Are Properly Diminished in His ‘Fortnite’ Cameo
Image
Hank Hill is coming to Fortnite to kick some ass, even if he doesn’t have any himself.

The Hulu revival of Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ classic animated comedy King of the Hill is still a ways away, with the streamer eyeing an August 4th premiere date for all 10 episodes of the new season. However, in the pop-culture climate of 2025, the marketing campaign for a sitcom coming back from the dead after a nearly 16-year hiatus can’t start soon enough, and the war for young viewers’ attention starts in the eye of the Storm and slowly closes over the course of about a half an hour.

As the King of the Hill hype train slowly begins to pick up steam, Hulu has partnered with the popular battle royale video game Fortnite for a special Father’s Day tie-in where Hank Hill will be an unlockable skin for players...

‘King of the Hill’ Fans Raise Concerns About Peggy’s Feet in the Revival
Image
Every King of the Hill superfan knows that Peggy Hill has a prodigious pair of stompers. After all, Grant Trimble doesn’t shell out for “educational videos” featuring size eights.

This August 4th, King of the Hill will return with brand new episodes on Hulu as Hank and Peggy move back to Arlen following an extended stay in Saudi Arabia for a peculiar propane job. As creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels have been saying since the streamer first greenlit new seasons of King of the Hill, the show will diegetically address the time-jump since the show’s original finale, “To Sirloin with Love,” back in 2009, aging up the characters and explaining what exactly happened during the 16-year gap.

Apparently, as some King of the Hill fans in the subreddit pointed out, Peggy spent some of that hiatus undergoing an experimental foot-shrinking procedure, as her previously towering trotters now appear to be preposterously average.

Behold the Sexy Peggy That ‘King of the Hill’s Overlords Didn’t Want You to See
Image
Though Peggy Hill may famously have “got it going on back there,” as she proudly proclaimed to her ass-less husband in “Hank’s Back Story,” there’s a reason why the Arlen darlin’ never got the fan-service treatment: Because the King of the Hill overlords got dang said so.

Likely much to Dale’s chagrin, King of the Hill’s animators abided by a system to keep the series visually consistent throughout its team of artists, turning to a “Do’s and Don’ts” rule book to “serve as a guideline for life in Arlen,” per one iteration of the manual.

Alongside warning of common pitfalls like “reptilian eyes,” smiling Boomhauers and the ever-detested “skinny Redcorns” — “John Redcorn is Taller and more Muscular than Hank,” reads the style guide, noting that this rule was “not to imply that Hank couldn’t kick Redcorn’s ass if he was really pissed...

King of the Hill's Boomhauer Job Reveal Was Disappointing

Boomhauer's mystery job as a Texas Ranger was a shock to fans, but the reveal left many scratching their heads. Mike Judge's Unused Beavis And Butt-Head/King Of The Hill Crossover Idea Explained
Image
Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill were almost connected through a familial connection between Hank Hill and Tom Anderson. The crossover idea would have enriched the backstories of both shows' characters and created a shared universe. The logistical barrier of the shows airing on different networks and belonging to different companies prevented the realization of the crossover.

Beavis and Butt-Head, created by Mike Judge, is an iconic animated series, and there was almost a Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill crossover. The former follows two socially awkward, heavy metal-loving teenagers whose misadventures revolve around their lack of social norms and fascination with adult content. Known for its satirical commentary on society, the series became a staple of 1990s pop culture, pushing the boundaries of what could be shown on television at the time. Its blend of humor and critique earned it a dedicated fanbase, as well...

The Hill Is A Subtle Reunion For Dennis Quaid's 41-Year-Old Epic Astronaut Movie
Image
"The Hill" is a biographical sports drama that tells the true story of Rickey Hill, an aspiring baseball player with a degenerative spinal disease. Dennis Quaid and Scott Glenn previously starred in the 1983 film "The Right Stuff," which depicted the United States' first human spaceflight. The Hill Review: Dennis Quaid Leads A Biopic Unable To Find Genuine Drama
Image
The Hill, a new sports biopic, lacks the depth needed to truly sell the inspiring story of minor league baseball player Rickey Hill. The movie's heavy-handed religious message clashes with Rickey's journey, leaving his character underdeveloped and the story repetitive. The Hill's focus on faith overshadows its role as a sports movie, resulting in missed opportunities for impactful moments and erasing much of the tension and emotion.

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn't exist.

Prior to watching The Hill, the new inspirational sports biopic from director Jeff Celentano, I didn't know anything about minor league baseball player Rickey Hill, an athlete whose story is set up to be as soaring and epic as any of the best sports movies. As the tale goes, Rickey overcomes health problems and the...

"King of the Hill" fans were hit with the sad news last week that Johnny Hardwick, the voice of Hank Hill's longtime friend Dale Gribble, had passed away at 64. Hardwick lent his voice to Dale across all 13 seasons of Mike Judge's animated series, which originally ran from 1997 through 2009. However, "King of the Hill" fans had been looking forward to a series revival of the comedy at Hulu, hot on the heels of the return of Judge's other animated comedy hit "Beavis and Butt-Head" on Paramount + and Comedy Central. But with no window for the revival's return, many have been wondering whether or not Hardwick was able to record lines for Dale's return on the show before his passing. We now have the answer.

TV Line has learned that Hardwick was able to get in the recording booth to complete a couple episodes of the "King of the Hill...

Who Voices Boomhauer on King of the Hill?
Image
King of the Hill is still widely beloved, namely for its lineup of eccentric and idiosyncratic characters. Many of the denizens of Arlen's Rainey Street have their own unique personality traits. Part of what makes these different elements work so well is the voice acting, with much of the comedy stemming from not only what the cast says but how they say it.

There's no better example of this than Boomhauer, who can easily be identified by his unique mumbling drawl. The outrageous form of communication has made many fans wonder who pulls off such a voice, especially when he has a crystal clear singing ability. Here's a dang ol' look at the voice behind the mumble, as well as what inspired it.

How The Simpsons Crossed Over With King of the Hill
Image
King of the Hill was a sister show to The Simpsons for 13 seasons. Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, the series focused on the Hill family and their experiences living in modern Texas. The two shows would occasionally reference one another, with Bobby Hill having a Bart Simpson doll in his bedroom in King of the Hill, or the Simpsons walking past cut-outs of Hank Hill and his friends at a museum of television history.

The shows' different overall tones suggested a divide between them, even though they touched upon similar themes. But the two had a minor crossover in an episode of The Simpsons, with characters from King of the Hill actually appearing in-universe in Springfield -- suggesting they might actually share a universe. It's a fun connecting thread between the two animated shows, but given the potential final fate of Springfield, it might also suggest doom awaits the Hill family.

Matthew McConaughey's King Of The Hill Role, Explained
Image
The animated TV series King of the Hill has featured the voices of many celebrated actors, including Matthew McConaughey, who played a character six years after his breakthrough movie role in Dazed and Confused. The actor achieved romantic lead status for 2000s comedies such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Failure to Launch, and The Wedding Planner before moving on to prestige dramas like Mud and Dallas Buyers Club. Over the course of its 13 seasons, King of the Hill had voices from such actors as Betty White, Brad Pitt, Chris Rock, and Laura Dern, and McConaughey's role stands out as it has a weighty message.

Meek Mill Pays Bail For 20 Incarcerated Women On Christmas Eve
Image
Rapper Meek Mill gave the gift of freedom to 20 incarcerated women as he paid their bail so they could be home for the holidays. Five women were released from Riverside Correctional Facility in Philadelphia on Saturday with plans for 15 more to be released throughout the week.

The announcement came on Saturday from Reform alliance, a nonprofit launched in part by Mill and Jay-Z that advocates for criminal justice reform with a focus on parole and probation.

The 35-year-old had a decade-long battle with the justice system since a 2007 conviction followed by repeated bouts in prison due to parole violations. His charges were dropped in 2019 after the Free Meek movement sparked a nationwide conversation about mass incarceration and significant media attention on his case.

The six-episode series out of Egypt, which is set in the 1960s, is based on bestselling Arabic horror books by late Egyptian author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik. Each episode is a standalone story centered around one of the “Paranormal” tomes.

Salama served as showrunner and producer on “Paranormal” in tandem with prominent Egyptian indie producer Mohammed Hefzy, whose Film Clinic shingle is known internationally for churning out a stream of edgy titles such as “Microphone,” “Sheikh Jackson” and “Yomeddine.” Hefzy also heads up the Cairo Film Festival.

Every Music Company is Morphing into the Same Thing
The music industry has longed thrived on its diversity. A rich assortment of hip-hop, rock, country, R&B, classical, indie, electronic, and a million and one subgenres in between.

“A rich assortment,” however, comprehensively fails to describe today’s most influential music companies — which are increasingly eating into one another’s core businesses in a bid to grow their prosperity. At the center of this trend are those music-streaming services “doing a Netflix,” i.e., investing money into independent artists to create their own content outside the traditional record-company structure.

Sheikh Jackson (2017)
Official Oscar® Entry from Egypt ‘Sheikh Jackson’
Sheikh Jackson (2017)
Sheikh Jackson is the new film by Amr Salama, a prominent young Egyptian writer and director whose credits include the prize-winning AIDS drama Asmaa and the coming-of-age comedy Excuse My French, which swept the board at Egypt’s equivalent of the Oscars, as well as the documentary Tahrir which premiered in Venice, winning the Fipresci Award.

It is a strange thing to see an ultra strict iman recall his sweet innocent school days as a devotee of Michael Jackson. While playing like a comedy, there is a sadness to the amount of supression that goes into the creation of the fundamentalist strictness of the man today. As a child he was mistreated just enough by his father to lose the magical charm Michael Jackson exercised upon him.

I wanted to laugh but found it profoundly upsetting to realize the dynamic behind such fundamentalism today.

The director himself said,

I never...
