"Dear Child" is a gripping German thriller on Netflix, but it is not based on a true story. The events and characters are entirely fictional. The series is based on the 2019 novel "Liebes Kind" by Romy Hausmann, but the Netflix adaptation deviates slightly from the book to create something fresh. The show follows the perspective of different characters and tells a story filled with twists, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats and eager to unravel the truth.
Dear Child revolves around a mysterious 13-year-old missing person's case that abruptly gets reopened following the discovery of a woman and a child, and the intriguing plot has some viewers wondering if the series on Netflix is based on a true story. The German thriller series tells the story over the course of six intense and enthralling episodes, and it's hard not to get swept up in the narrative to...

I do have a pretty poor reason for wanting to watch Home Sweet Home: Where Evil Lives. At least initially anyway because the reason being is that it holds the same title (Home Sweet Home) as the first book I wrote and released. Obviously, I then had a quick read of the synopsis and discovered that this a film that is shot in one-shot, real-time, and I got even more excited.
It’s not featured a whole lot in the genre but I love films that are shot with one shot. It seems like an incredibly difficult thing to achieve and it always impresses me. The script (and obviously the performances) have to be near perfect. Silent House and the exceptional One Cut of the Dead, have proved that it can absolutely work in horror.

"There's a bright line burning in your heart, Anna." Greenwich Ent. has revealed an official US trailer for the German indie drama When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, based on the classic book of the same name written by Judith Kerr, based on her childhood memories. Telling the story of a Jewish family's escape from 1933 Berlin throughout Europe that tackles prejudice, exile, displacement and adaptation, as told from the perspective of the author's alter ego, nine year-old Anna Kemper - played by youngster Riva Krymalowski in her feature film debut. "You don’t go into exile for fun. You miss the country of your childhood. You miss the people. You miss the language." Indeed. Another tragic story of how terrible Nazis were. Also starring Carla Juri, Oliver Masucci, Marinus Hohmann, Justus von Dohnányi, Ursula Werner, Rahel Hubacher, Peter Bantli, and Anne Bennent. I appreciate the authenticity - German actors all speaking in German.

The new film by the German director will star actors Justus von Dohnányi and Hans Löw alongside newcomer Claude Heinrich as the main protagonist. The shoot for the adaptation of the novel Wir sind dann wohl die Angehörigen (lit. “We Are the Relatives”), written in 2018 by young German musician and first-time author Johann Scheerer, has started, helmed by director Hans-Christian Schmid, who wrote the script for this family drama together with Michael Gutmann. Schmid, best known for films such as Crazy (starring Robert Stadlober and Tom Schilling) and Requiem (starring Sandra Hüller), is producing the film together with Britta Knöller and their production company, 23/5 Filmproduktion. Through the unusual and enthralling perspective of a 13-year-old, the film tells the story of the abduction of Jan Philipp Reemtsma, which actually took place in 1996. Johann Scheerer, Reemtsma's son, converted his experience into a novel. He paints the portrait of a...
‘Charité’ Review: Netflix’s Historical Hospital Drama Won’t Fix ‘The Knick’-Sized Hole in Your Heart
One of the most fascinating elements of “Charité,” the new six-part German miniseries now available on Netflix, is the operation theater. As a medical drama set in the late 19th century, this combination lecture hall and surgical venue is as compelling a concept as it is unsanitary. To see a procedure like a tracheotomy or an appendectomy, both in their nascent development stages, presented in such a matter-of-fact way is jarring by design. To see progress and hubris in tandem is one of the main reasons why medical dramas (especially ones set in a distant time) continue to be a regular TV staple.
Whenever “Charité” returns to the exhibition-style setting of that instructional surgery hall, it’s hard not to think of the similar scenes in “The Knick,” a show that by virtue of its styling and being set a decade later took a more modern approach to this subgenre.

'Downfall' movie: Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler 'Downfall' movie: Overlong and overwrought World War II drama lifted by several memorable performances Oliver Hirschbiegel's German box office hit Downfall / Der Untergang is a generally engrossing psychological-historical drama whose emotional charge is diluted by excessive length, an overabundance of characters, and a tendency to emphasize the more obvious aspects of the narrative. Several key performances – including Bruno Ganz's now iconic Adolf Hitler – help to lift Downfall above the level of myriad other World War II movies. Nazi Germany literally goes under In Downfall, which by the end of 2004 had been seen by more than 4.5 million German moviegoers, Nazi Germany is about to lose the war. In his underground bunker, Adolf Hitler (Bruno Ganz) grows increasingly out of touch with reality as he sees his dream of Deutschland über alles go kaput. Rising young German actor Daniel Brühl ("Inglourious Basterds") has booked two new projects - "Der Ganz Grosse Traum des Konrad Koch" and "Canal" reports Oh No They Didn't via The Playlist

Cologne, Germany – Daniel Bruhl is set to star in a soccer-themed period film about the man who brought the beautiful game to Germany.
The "Inglourious Basterds" star will play teacher Konrad Koch in "Der Ganz Grosse Traum des Konrad Koch," the debut feature from director Sebastian Grobler.
Loosely based on real events, the film is a "Dead Poet's Society" style tale of an English teacher who takes up a position at a strict, German school in 1874. The unorthodox Koch captures his pupils' imagination by teaching them the strange English game of "football."
English fans probably rue that day. In its World Cup match with England last week, the German team soundly defeated soccer's mother country 4-1.
"Konrad Koch" also stars Burghart Klaussner ("The White Ribbon") and Justus von Dohnanyi ("Men in the City"). Anatol Nitschke of Berlin-based deutschfilm is producing together with Raoul Reinert of Cuckoo Clock Entertainment and Senator Film's Helge Sasse.
