Princess Leia's randomly appearing and disappearing British accent in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope has confounded fans for decades. Carrie Fisher explained she felt the dialogue sounded more appropriate and emotional in a British accent. The 2016 novel Star Wars: Bloodline offers an explanation that Leia used the British accent to mock Grand Moff Tarkin.

A surprising number of the most important Star Wars stories featuring Princess Leia have been told outside the movies. Played by the late Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia is one of the greatest heroes of Star Wars. Her introduction is iconic, with Leia immediately presented as no mere damsel in distress; although she was technically rescued from the Death Star by Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, it didn't take Leia long to take charge of the rescue attempt. Over the course of George Lucas' original trilogy, Leia showed her strength of character time and again. In Return of the Jedi, it was Leia who killed Jabba the Hutt - earning herself the in-universe title "Huttslayer."

Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American distribution rights to At the Ready, the documentary from Maisie Crow that follows three El Paso teenagers who embark on careers in law enforcement as the debates surrounding immigration and police reform in America reach fever pitches. The doc will be released in theaters and on digital platforms October 22.

Crow’s film focuses on students at El Paso’s Horizon High School, 10 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, who are part of a criminal justice club, which includes mock-ups of drug raids and active-shooter takedowns as they eye careers with the Border Patrol and in policing and customs enforcement. They soon discover their choices may clash with the values and people they hold most dear.

The best part about Star Wars is how vast it is. Even with several decades of the Expanded Universe cast into the realm of Legends, the best-known galaxy far, far away has a lot left to explore. Fans can pick how deep they want to go down the rabbit hole. You don’t have to read the Darth Vader comics to enjoy the original trilogy. You don’t have to watch The Clone Wars cartoon to grasp how Anakin changed between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. You don’t have to read Bloodlines to know General Leia is a force to be reckoned with in The Force Awakens. But you can if you want to. One of the best parts about the new Star Wars canon? Star Wars Rebels on Disney Xd. I’ll be honest. At first, the animation style of Rebels turned me off to the show.

We were reintroduced to General Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the return episode of Star Wars Rebels will take us back to the character's teenage revolutionary years as the young Princess arrives on Lothal to liaison with Kanan, Ezra and co. This take on Leia won't be brought to life by Carrie Fisher, as instead we have Julie Dolan (who also played Leia in the video game Star Wars: Uprising) on voice duty. Fan-favorite Princess Leia Organa will be making an appearance in an upcoming episode of the second season of Disney Xd's "Star Wars Rebels" and the first clip of said appearance is online below:

Sadly Carrie Fisher will not provide the voice for the iconic character she played in the films. Instead Julie Dolan, who voiced Leia in the video game "Star Wars: Uprising," will take on the part. The episode, "A Princess in Lothal," is set to air Wednesday, January 20th.

Executive producer Dave Filoni says: "We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope. One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn't believe in the Empire,...

Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni has previously teased that Lucasfilm would be bringing a new major character from the original Star Wars trilogy into the animated series. We've now learned that Princess Leia Organa will make her debut on the show as a teenager.

TV Insider has some information on her role in the story saying, “The teenage princess is sent to Lothal—the base planet for the series’ main characters, a group of rebel fighters—on a secret mission to bring ships for the rebel fleet. Unfortunately, an Imperial lockdown throws that plan into chaos.”
