Don Johnson to star opposite Joshua Jackson in Ryan Murphy’s new drama series Dr. Odyssey
Image
Paging Don Johson! Report to the set of Ryan Murphy’s new ABC drama series, Dr. Odyssey, to join Joshua Jackson on a medical emergency! That’s right, patients. Don Johnson is scrubbing up for Murphy’s mysterious new project, Dr. Odyssey, which could be a medical procedural. The 20th Century Studios series targets a fall launch, with Ryan Murphy Television leading the charge.

While details about the show remain a mystery, reports indicate it’s a medical procedural aboard a cruise ship. If we know Murphy, there’s more than ship-wide food poisoning on the menu. Details about Johnson’s character remain unknown.

Murphy will write Dr. Odyssey and executive produce with Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Paris Barclay directs and executive produces Dr. Odyssey. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, and Nissa Diederich also executive produce alongside Jackson.

We’re big fans of Don Johnson in these parts,...

Nash Bridges: Was Reunion Movie Worthy of a Full-On Series Revival?
Image
Don Johnson returned as Nash Bridges this Saturday night, with Cheech Marin’s Joe Dominguez again riding shotgun. Did the reunion movie for USA Network prove worthy of a full-on series revival?

The two-hour movie — which producers, at least at one point, hoped would serve as a backdoor pilot for a full series relaunch — picked up with Nash and Joe chasing after Trevor Garrison, a baddie involved in trafficking teenage girls. After a gunshot from Joe accidentally explodes a nearby gas truck (but in doing so Ko’s Trevor), both he and Nash nonetheless get a two-week suspension from the...

‘Nash Bridges’ Tackles 21st Century Policing and Millennials vs. Boomers in USA Revival
Image
When “Nash Bridges” came to an end in 2001, series star Don Johnson felt like they “didn’t get a chance to finish the story.”

The detective drama had been on the air for six seasons, but “political circumstances” between producer Paramount Network Television and network CBS kept it from getting renewed, the actor recalls. (Paramount decided the production cost was too high even though the series still had decent ratings for CBS.) Twenty years later, the show is still a success in syndication. As TV’s nostalgia boom has led to reboots and revivals of dozens of late-20th century titles, the door was opened for Johnson in his titular Special Investigations Unit captain role in a new format and on a new network.

“I felt like there was more to be mined in these characters; plus, I love the tone — being able to do something that is incredibly dangerous and demanding,...

Don Johnson Confirms ‘Nash Bridges’ Revival Is Heading Into Production
Image
USA Network’s Nash Bridges revival is getting closer to reality. Series star Don Johnson confirmed Wednesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he is in “heavy prep” on the revival. Johnson will reprise the title character in the project, which has been in development at USA since 2019 as a two-hour movie/backdoor pilot.

“So we find Nash some years later and Cheech is going to come back and join me and Jeff Perry,” Johnson told DeGeneres. “We’ve got a pretty exciting show that we’re prepping in San Francisco right now.”

Johnson confirmed on The Talk in 2019 that his longtime co-star Cheech Marin would return for the revival in his role as Inspector Joe Dominguez.

The original Nash Bridges series ran on CBS from 1996 to 2001. The Nash Bridges revival comes from Johnson, Bill Chais (Franklin & Bash) and Marc Rosen.

Nash Bridges Revival Set to Begin Production in May — Who's Returning?
Image
Don Johnson‘s long-gestating Nash Bridges revival is finally coming to fruition, with production set to begin in May in San Francisco.

As previously reported, the project — which was initially set up at USA Network — will air as two-hour movie, but producers are hopeful it’ll serve as a backdoor pilot for a full series relaunch. A rep for NBC Universal declined to comment on Nash 2.0, including whether it is still bound for USA Network (versus being poached by NBCU’s reboot/revival-hungry streamer Peacock).

Don Johnson Confirms Cheech Marin Will Return For ‘Nash Bridges’ Revival
Don Johnson
Don Johnson, set to reprise the title role in USA Network’s upcoming Nash Bridges revival, confirmed today that longtime co-star Cheech Marin will be back for another go-round.

Appearing on CBS’ The Talk (full interview set for the Nov. 26 episode), Johnson was asked by host Sharon Osbourne whether Marin would be returning (as the character Inspector Joe Dominguez).

(Watch a clip below).

“Oh yeah,” said Johnson, “The Cheech will be back. I think in this adaptation of Nash Bridges, he’s going to actually be selling weed. And the cops in San Francisco are actually going to be smoking it.” Johnson was joking, probably.

The Nash Bridges project is in development at USA Network, and is being developed as a two-hour movie/backdoor pilot. “We’re writing it now,” Johnson says on The Talk, “and it’s a two-hour television film, and they’re looking at it as kind...

Nash Bridges Revival in the Works at USA Network; Don Johnson to Return
Don Johnson
Don Johnson is set to reprise his title role in a revival of Nash Bridges, which is in the early stages of development at USA Network, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The revival is currently slated to be a two-hour special, but producers hope it’ll serve as a backdoor pilot for a full series relaunch.

The original Nash Bridges was created by Carlton Cuse (Lost) and ran for six seasons — a total of 122 episodes — on CBS, between March 1996 and May 2001. Cuse, who currently has a deal at ABC Studios, is not involved with the revival, which is being spearheaded...
