Martin Short has seemingly accepted Kathie Lee Gifford's apology. While speaking with E! News, Short was asked about the "Today" show incident in which Gifford asked about his relationship with his now deceased wife.

When Short appeared on NBC's "Today" on Wednesday, Gifford praised his relationship with his late wife Nancy Dolman and said, “He and Nancy have got one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business. How many years now for you guys?" Short answered and said, “We, uh, married 36 years.”

Nancy Dolman passed away nearly two years ago.

"I think that it's live television and people make mistakes and there's no ill will intended," Short told E! News. "And I think it's nice to aspire to be kind of elegant."

Gifford apologized on-air and later took to Twitter to send her regards to Short.

Sad news has come from Martin Short's family. His actress wife, Nancy Dolman, passed away on Saturday, August 21 at their Pacific Palisades home. However, the cause of the death has not yet been revealed, Radar Online reported.

Confirming Nancy's death, Martin's representative said on Monday, August 23, "Sadly, we can confirm that Martin Short's wife did pass away." The representative added, "We do not have any other comment to make." Nancy had been battling cancer since 2007.

Nancy died at the age of 58. According to the site, the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a medical emergency call at Martin's resident at 8.30 A.M. on Saturday. The Fire Department arrived at the scene in approximately 30 minutes. Though so, they didn't transport anyone to a hospital. It is believed that Nancy died at the house.

Moreover, CNN reported that the Los Angeles County Coroner's office had no record of Nancy's death.

Sad news, BFFs. We have just learned that Martin Short’s wife, Nancy Dolman, died suddenly Saturday, Aug. 21, at her home in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Although her cause of death is unknown, we know that Nancy — who was a Canadian actress — was diagnosed with cancer in 2007.

RadarOnline reports, “[The ambulances] were on scene for approximately 30 minutes but did not transport anyone to a hospital. It is believed Nancy died at the house.”

Martin, who’s best known from Saturday Night Live and Father of the Bride, met Nancy in 1970 during a Canadian production of Godspell. The couple married in 1980 and had three children — Katherine, 27, Oliver, 24 and Henry, 20.
