Warning: this article contains potential spoilers for Survivor 50.
Survivor 50 has recently finished filming, and after the returnees season's completion, one castaway may have accidentally revealed a major spoiler about the outcome of the season. While Survivor 50 won't air for about a year, the season has just wrapped filming in the show's Fijian set. While many have been curious about the outcome, one castaway could've just spoiled something major.
Colby Donaldson, a veteran of Survivor who's played the game four times with Survivor 50 under his belt, shared a photo to his Instagram after filming wrapped that showed him looking a lot leaner than he did before the show. Fans were quick to comment on the photo, making it clear they thought his slimmer body meant he'd been on the show longer.
"Looking thinner…you must’ve went far in the game," commented @suepez, while @michelle_horn15 shared, "Looks skinner.. could be a good sign!

Mike White is hot off Thailand‑set The White Lotus Season 3, which has already aired, and before the dust — or umbrella cocktails — even settled, he jumped straight into Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, which wrapped filming in Fiji this week.
That’s right: a man fresh off directing luxury hotel chaos went right back under mosquito-ridden huts and tribal fire.
If that isn’t classic Mike White irony, what is?

The season’s twist?
Everything — from hidden idols to fire‑making at Final Four — was chosen by fans, and the 24-player cast spans all eras of Survivor, including fan favorites like Cirie Fields, Ozzy Lusth, Colby Donaldson, Jenna Lewis, and more.

On Friday, some juicy Survivor 50 spoilers were revealed from the host and showrunner himself, Jeff Probst.
"Ok, it is about two hours after we just started Survivor 50," Probst announced on social media. "We had our marooning challenge this morning. So, this is what I know so far."
The four-time Emmy winner teased, "We have 24 players who had an incredible attitude. Every single person basically said the same thing: 'I want to play hard and I want to have fun.' That was a big theme because a lot of returning players said, 'You know, I've gotten so caught up in the game that I forget that I'm having this incredible adventure, and I want to do both.' If that's true, that bodes really well."
Probst added, "The other thing that impressed me is they went full tilt on that first challenge. It's competitive. It's dramatic. It comes down to a close finish.

“I just don’t think, at this age, I’m meant to live an uncomfortable life,” Parker Posey’s Victoria Ratliff famously declared on season three of HBO’s The White Lotus.
But the show’s Emmy-winning creator, 54-year-old Mike White, has decided to embrace the rather harsh existence of competing on CBS’ Survivor — and not for the first time.
White is among the 24 returning players to compete on the veteran reality show’s milestone 50th season. He competed on the show in 2018 during its 37th season, “David vs. Goliath,” and managed to come in second place.

CBS began the official countdown to Survivor 50 Wednesday by revealing most of the returning players who will participate — one of whom may be a target as early as day one simply because of his success with The White Lotus.
Filmmaker Mike White is returning to Fiji for another chance at the cash prize, after having competed during season 37’s David Vs. Goliath and going on to create three seasons of his social satire for HBO. (It’s already been renewed for a fourth season). White’s name was one of 22 revealed on CBS Mornings.
Other notable players from Survivor‘s epic past who are returning for the milestone season are Colby Donaldson from 2, Aubrey Bracco from 32 (who’s returning for a fourth time) and Cirie Fields (12) and Ozzy Lusth (13) — both of whom are returning for a fifth time.

As Survivor's host from the very start, Jeff Probst was there to see things like the first time one of the reality show's players was medically evacuated. The thing that new fans who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first don't know is that Jeff also became Survivor's executive producer and showrunner. As a result of all of his roles, Jeff has had a lot of influence over Survivor's best seasons, he's dealt with the show's best players ever, and he's gotten to announce every winner ever. Even though Jeff has helped Survivor become a success, he has made mistakes too.
TheThings has exclusively interviewed the Survivor Hall of Famer Richard Hatch about his time on the show. One of the most startling things that Richard exclusively told TheThings is about how Jeff Probst screwed him during Survivor: All-Stars. It is important to note that...

Over the course of its 44 seasons, Survivor has hosted hundreds of immunity challenges where individual players could win the opportunity to save themselves from elimination at tribal council. Since 2000 when the reality TV show began, 17 different contestants have won at least four immunity challenges. However, five of those castaways prevailed five times, a record that has never been broken. In our Survivor hall of fame gallery below, we spotlight those with the most immunity wins in a single season.
Despite four others winning just as many as he did, Colby Donaldson from Season 2 has bragging rights as not only the first player to win five times, but also the only one to do so consecutively. Like Kelly Wiglesworth before him, Colby played the game at a point in time where challenge wins were not held as in high regard as they were later, leaving him in runner-up position to a...

With Survivor soon to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its premiere, TV bosses should examine how Jeff Probst's popular reality show is still airing. Throughout Survivor's history, the show has given fans many things to celebrate, including its best seasons, the truly great players, and the most deserving winners. The fact that Survivor still has events like medical evacuations makes the show so captivating that it continues to attract new fans who are figuring out which seasons to watch first.
Survivor has also had some horrible controversies, including Dan Spilo's conduct, which was so bad that it may have ended a past winner's chance at returning. Another shocking scandal from Survivor's history even resulted in the show being investigated for cruelty.

Since Survivor first premiered in the year 2000, fans of Jeff Probst's beloved reality show have been captivated by things like heartbreaking medical evacuations. Despite that, even new fans who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first will know that the best seasons have always been the ones with the greatest players. With that in mind, it has been fortunate that there have been so many great Survivor winners over the years.
During the 47th season of Survivor, there have been many great episodes and some that have felt unnecessarily negative. During Survivor 47 Episode 9, that mixed bag continued as one of the fan favorites was voted out, and another player showed the potential to be a great player and a fantastic winner.

After 47 seasons, “Survivor” players continue to find ways to surprise the viewers … and the host! During the fifth episode of “Survivor 47,” Gata tribe members Andy Rueda, Anika Dhar, Rachel Lamont, Sam Phalen and Sierra Wright arrived at the immunity challenge with the three chickens they had won in the previous week’s reward. As it turned out, the egg-laying hens weren’t living up to their full potential, and so the contestants were hoping they could negotiate with Jeff Probst for some eggs instead.
“Let’s just start with the obvious,” Jeff announced when Gata showed up with their three little cluckers. “Are they family members that travel with you now? Or is this about something else?”
“You know, Jeff, we as a tribe would like to propose a negotiation with you,” Sierra declared.
“I love a negotiation,” the host replied. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”

When most reality TV fans imagine what it would be like to play Survivor, there are certain things they envision. For example, most fans hope that they will be in one of the show's best seasons, that they'll become one of the best players, and that Jeff Probst will love them.
However, something that new fans who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first may not realize is there is a dark side to playing Survivor. Putting aside the fact that some players get medically evacuated, some Survivor players suffer the fate of being hated by the fans. The only thing that is worse than that is when a player is beloved and then does something to make the fans turn on them.
Why Survivor Fans Think Jeff Varner Ruined His Legacy
During Survivor: The Australian Outback, the show introduced several people who were so memorable that they played the game again.

Showmances have been a staple on Survivor since the Reality TV series premiered on CBS more than 20 years ago. Host Jeff Probst even admitted that production would originally cast potentially compatible players to increase the possibility once the castaways were marooned.
From Og couples like Boston Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich, to more recent lovebirds such as Matt Blankinship and Frannie Marin, many Survivor showmances have lived on beyond the screen.
Jaclyn Schultz and Jon Misch as well as Joe Anglim and Sierra Dawn Thomas are two more examples out of many more Survivor couples who are still together in 2024.

Jaime Huffman accused Erik Huffman of abusive behavior in a disturbing legal filing. Allegations include attempted sexual assault, uncontrollable rage, and infidelity. Erik Huffman was arrested for domestic violence after a physical altercation with Jaime Huffman.
Since Survivor premiered, it has become one of the best reality shows for family viewing. As a result, Survivor has many fans who care enough to wonder about the clothes competitors wear, how much the show makes, and how Jeff Probst would play.
However, the truth is that Survivor has unfortunately had its fair share of controversies. Cillian Murphy recently had some choice words for his film Red Eye (watch it Here), a Wes Craven-directed thriller that was released back in 2005. But he wasn’t entirely negative. So that got me thinking: Is Red Eye a good film? Or is it more in the so bad it’s good category? I personally saw Red Eye in theaters and have always had a soft spot for it. But if Oppenheimer‘s own Cillian Murphy has an issue with it, maybe it’s worth a second gander. So let’s see whether it’s good, bad, or somewhere in between as we revisit Red Eye in the video embedded above!
Scripted by Carl Ellsworth, who crafted the story with Dan Foos, Red Eye has the following synopsis: In the wake of her grandmother’s funeral, hotel manager Lisa Reisert is waiting to fly back home when she meets charming Jackson Rippner at check-in.

“Survivor” is a game that ends with one person claiming the life-changing $1 million prize, but sometimes the winner is not the one people expect. The title of Sole Survivor is the result of taking out the biggest competitors, being likable in the cast, and appealing to the jury, all while arguing the case of why you’re the most deserving of the win. While many of the champions are well-deserved, at least according to the passionate fans at home, others spark massive debate when Jeff Probst reads their names out loud. Scroll through our photo gallery above (or click here for direct access) where we detail the Top 10 biggest “Survivor” upset winners of all time.

Survivor's 43rd season is now well underway and has chipped away each week at its cast of new castaways, all of whom want to go down in the Survivor history books. Early in the season, tensions are low and emotions remain relatively under control. However, this can change fast in the isolated game of Survivor.
The show has a history of contestants who have wild temper tantrums on the island. The reasons for these range from not being on rewards to a vote not going one's way. It is easy to sit back and watch from the couch and say they these players were overreacting, but, in most cases, all of these emotions are warranted for their specific situation.

Tori Meehan makes ‘Survivor’ history by winning first 2 individual immunity challenges of the season
Over the course of the first 21 years and 41 seasons of “Survivor,” only one woman had won the first two individual immunity challenges of her season: Laura Morett in 2009’s “Survivor: Samoa.” Now, her long-standing record has been tied by Tori Meehan, who just claimed back-to-back victories in the first two individual immunity challenges of “Survivor 42.” Talk about girl power!
One caveat in mentioning this record is that Laura’s initial immunity win was actually awarded to the best performing male (John Fincher) and female (Laura) of that specific challenge. Tori didn’t have to share either of her two immunity necklaces, which puts her truly in a league of her own when it comes to making “Survivor” history.

Beach rental business owner Jonathan Young has big dreams for his “Survivor” experience. As one of the 18 new castaways playing on “Survivor 42,” the 29-year-old Alabama resident intends to “win more immunity challenges than anyone ever has,” outdoing the likes of Colby Donaldson, Tom Westman, Terry Deitz, Ozzy Lusth, Mike Holloway and Brad Culpepper, who each won five in a single season.
It is unlikely that Jonathan will indeed amass six Immunity wins, but he is confident in his physical abilities, hoping this will make him a valued tribemate. “I’ve basically trained for this moment,” he says, noting that he spearfishes “almost daily” (watch below). As one of the most visibly buff contestants of the bunch, he knows that his tribemates may judge him in a certain light. “The first impression everybody’s getting is going, ‘Look at this big guy. I wonder what he can do,'” predicts Jonathan.

While “Survivor” fans patiently await news on when Season 41 might eventually premiere (the latest rumor has it airing in Spring 2021), there is some good news on the horizon as reruns of CBS’s reality TV show are coming to Netflix. Mark your calendars for November 15, as that’s when the series will start streaming on the platform for the first time, according to Netflix Queue. In a game of strategy and social bonds, challenge strength remains an important component in “Survivor” 20 years later. Opinion is split on how much value there is in Immunity Challenge wins, but more often than not, they have helped players beast their way to the end and even with the $1 million prize. Examples include Tom Westman (“Palau”), Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), Kim Spradlin (“One World”) and Mike Holloway (“Worlds Apart”).
Other challenge beasts are able to win a bunch of challenges but just come up short in the end. Colby Donaldson is one of the original cases of this, and we have seen players like Ozzy Lusth, Terry Deitz, Spencer Bledsoe and Brad Culpepper do the same, without claiming the title of Sole Survivor. Then there are players like Joe Anglim, who are just so good at challenges that they must be voted out the minute they lose an Immunity Challenge.

Then there are players like Joe Anglim, who are just so good at challenges that they must be voted out the minute they lose an Immunity Challenge.

It’s no surprise that when the social experiment of “Survivor” began in 2000 that it would produce some of reality TV’s sexiest flings ever. When Colleen and Greg began flirting on season 1 it was a bit of a surprise to viewers, but now the terms “showmance” and “power couple” are as common as “immunity challenge” and “tribal council.” Over the course of 40 seasons in 20 years, contestants have put aside bad breath, limbs scarred from bug bites and their saggy, dirty swimsuits in order to find each other attractive enough to, yes, fall in love. In our photo gallery above, we detail 10 of the most iconic showmances in “Survivor” history.

Let’s get one thing out of the way. The winner of each “Survivor” season deserved to win, because they were able to do the most important thing in the game, which is to convince the jury to vote for them to be the Sole Survivor. Each season comes with a different set of circumstances and we can respect the decision process that goes into rewarding one castaway over the other with the $1 million prize. That doesn’t stop us from feeling a little outraged over some jury decisions, however. Tour our gallery above of the 12 “Survivor” runners-up we feel were most robbed of the title.
Some runners-up had to go up against a last-minute variable, like Chrissy Hofbeck and the final fire-making challenge in “Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers” and Gavin Whitson and the presence of Chris Underwood, who spent most of the game on the Edge of Extinction...

In honor of the upcoming 40th season of the beloved reality series, which premiered in 2000, here are some of the most shocking moments of the last 20 years of “Survivor” — from full-frontal nudity on national television to Dan Spilo getting kicked off the show last season. Season 40 premieres Feb. 12 at 8/7c on CBS.
Dan Spilo Gets Kicked Off the Show
The Hollywood talent manager was ejected from “Survivor: Island of the Idols” in 2019 following accusations of inappropriate touching, making him the first person to ever be kicked off the show. He has since said he is “deeply sorry.”
Season 1 Winner Richard Hatch Jailed for Tax Evasion
He was known as somewhat of a villain during his 2 stints on the show, but even more drama plagued Hatch after his time on “Survivor.” He ended up having to serve time in federal prison for tax evasion. Forbes has a good explainer of what happened there.

This week on “Survivor,” a contestant (Dan Spilo) was removed from the game for the first time ever due to an off-camera “incident” involving sexual misconduct. (See host Jeff Probst‘s response.) The shocking development reminds us of the last time something like this happened on CBS’s reality TV show. The year was 2004. The season, “All-Stars.” In the fifth episode, the players competed in an immunity challenge that required them to brush up against each other as they ran across a balance beam. A problem arose when Richard Hatch, who was voluntarily naked (as he often was on the island) flaunted his body against Sue Hawk. Watch the incident below.
At first Hawk seemed to laugh it off, but when she got back to camp she couldn’t get that moment out of her mind. “I just kept reliving the incident. It just kept eating into me more and more like a cancer,...

“Survivor” Season 39 doesn’t debut until the fall, but that’s not stopping fans from getting excited about a potential all-winners edition for Season 40. In our recent poll that asked viewers to vote for their favorite Female winner of all time, these five earned the highest support: Parvati Shallow (“Fans vs. Favorites”) at 29%, Sandra Diaz-Twine (“Pearl Islands” and “Heroes vs. Villains”) at 17%, Tina Wesson (“The Australian Outback”) at 9%, Jenna Morasca (“The Amazon”) at 7% and Natalie Anderson (“San Juan del Sur”) at 7%. Do you agree or disagree with our readers’ poll results? Sound off down in the comments section.
Many fans consider Parvati to be the most savvy castaway to ever play “Survivor,” thanks in part to the effortless way in which she convinced Erik Reichenbach to give up his immunity necklace in “Fans vs. Favorites.” Parvati and her fellow femme fatales then promptly voted him out. Parvati ultimately won the...

Of course, no discussion of “Survivor” winners can happen with mentioning Sandra Diaz-Twine, the show’s only two-time champ. Queen Sandra won the first two times she played — “Pearl Islands” and “Heroes vs. Villains” — and then returned for a...

“The Amazing Race” fans are about to be introduced to one of the greatest reality TV heroes of all time: Rupert Boneham. Longtime “Survivor” viewers are already keenly aware of this tie-dye pirate from his four seasons starring on that CBS hit. Though he never claimed victory as the winner of “Survivor,” he did take home a special fan-voted prize of $1 million during 2004’s “America’s Tribal Council.” He’s that beloved.
In the upcoming 31st season of “The Amazing Race,” which will now debut April 17 on CBS, Rupert will be teamed up with his wife Laura Boneham, who previously competed against Rupert on “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” in 2013. Laura finished in 12th place that season, far outlasting her husband as he was the first person voted out of what turned out to be his fourth and final run on the show.
