For 12 seasons, "Murder, She Wrote" was the definitive cozy murder mystery show. Set in the small and charming yet dead-body-filled fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine, the show wormed its way into the hearts of procedural fans everywhere with its familiar structure and unlikely hero -- middle-aged mystery writer Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury). While the actor behind the beloved amateur sleuth passed away in 2022, "Murder, She Wrote" lives on, both in the form of much-watched reruns and in an upcoming movie adaptation.
Little is known about the new version of "Murder, She Wrote" at this point, but screenwriters Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo have said that the story will relate back to Cabot Cove and Jessica in some capacity. When it comes to potential cameos from old cast members, the pool is unfortunately limited, as several of the series' lead actors have passed away in the decades since the show ended.

If the dark clouds hanging over Twitter have you in a funk, then you’ll be happy to hear that blue skies are on the way. A social media startup called Bluesky Social has hit the U.S. App Store, and it is backed by Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey.
The foundation of Bluesky is the At Protocol, which powers a “federated network” of interconnected sites. According to the startup’s website, the At Protocol provides a “foundation for social networking which gives creators independence from platforms, developers the freedom to build, and users a choice in their experience.”
Translation: Bluesky will aggregate content from across the social web in one convenient location. It will also give users ownership of their accounts, allowing them to port identities from one platform to another without ceding control to corporations.
In theory, that’s how Bluesky works, but the upstart platform has been on...

Twitter Co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey is back in the social media game, with the launch of his Twitter alternative called Bluesky that is now available in Apple App Store in the testing phase. The Twitter-funded micro-blogging platform is available as an invite-only beta as of now, and a public launch is near, reports TechCrunch.
According to app intelligence firm data.ai, the Bluesky iOS app debuted on February 17 and had seen some 2,000 installs in the testing phase.
The app offers a simplified user interface where you can click a plus button to create a post of 256 characters, which can include photos.
While Twitter asks “What’s happening?”, Bluesky asks “What’s up?”
Bluesky users can share, mute and block accounts, but advanced tools, like adding them to lists, are not yet available, according to the report.

‘Bezos: the Beginning’ is a made-for-television movie now available for streaming on Amazon Prime and Google Play. It details the rise, trials, and tribulations of Bezos’ early life in his attempt to start his now titanic e-commerce company. We witness Bezos (played by Armando Gutierez) start out as an endearing yet unconfident VP of a hedge fund company, then transition to creating an entirely online startup for purchasing books, then the polishing and repolishing of the idea of Amazon until it bears some semblance of how we know it today. I was surprised that a biopic about his life hadn’t been made yet. To any given American citizen, Bezos is a wealth of mysteries and secrets. He represents our current economic system at its most extreme, and is as famous as any other famous tech giant. Surely someone would have tried to make a film about him in the...

House Republicans have made clear they intend to do everything they can to cast President Biden as the ringleader of a global crime racket that he’s now using the White House to facilitate. The House Oversight Committee, led by a guy who just a few days ago wondered if the alleged Chinese spy balloon was carrying bioweapons from Wuhan, is going to be responsible for a big chunk of this effort. It will hold its first hearing on Wednesday to investigate, what else, Hunter Biden stuff.

It seems like everywhere you look these days there are layoffs, and Pinterest is no exception.
Just weeks after laying off an undisclosed number of people from its recruiting team, the platform has cut a further 150 employees. Pinterest had 4,000 employees at the end of Q3 2022, so this layoff is impacting around 3.75 of its staff.
According to Bloomberg, employees were let go across various divisions of Pinterest, though a person familiar with the matter specified that not all teams “were affected to the same degree.”
Pinterest confirmed to Bloomberg that cuts were made, but did not disclose specifics.
“We’re making organizational changes to further set us up to deliver against our company priorities and our long-term strategy,” a company spokesperson said. “Our employees are the heart of how we’re able to serve our Pinners around the world. San Francisco, Jan 4 (Ians) Micro-blogging platform Twitter on Wednesday announced that it is planning to “expand” the political advertising it allows “in the coming weeks”.
The platform made the announcement from its Twitter Safety account, saying: “Today, we’re relaxing our ads policy for cause-based ads in the US. We also plan to expand the political advertising we permit in the coming weeks.
“Moving forward, we will align our advertising policy with that of TV and other media outlets. As with all policy changes, we will first ensure that our approach to reviewing and approving content protects people on Twitter.”
Several users expressed their thoughts on the platform’s announcement.
While one user said, “this is actually a good call at Twitter. Kinda shocking”, another commented, “translation: Advertisers don’t want to advertise on here anymore so we’re just gonna let the alt-right advertise whatever”.

If you’re not on Twitter, good. Stay that way and spare yourself.
If you are on Twitter, you probably know the last 48 hours have been, to put it lightly, a wild ride.
Over the weekend—on the heels of banning (and then unbanning) journalists from The New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, and other reputable outlets who had been critical of Elon Musk—Twitter introduced a new, confusingly worded policy that said it would no longer allow “free promotion of certain social media platforms.”
And by “free promotion,” it meant linking to them at all.
The blacklisted platforms included Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Donald Trump‘s Truth Social, Tribal, Post, and Nostr (a startup that recently got a Bitcoin investment from Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey).
In addition to banning those, Twitter said it would no longer allow link-aggregation services like Linktree and lnk.bio. That part...

A day after Elon Musk announced that Twitter would suspend accounts for linking to rival social media platforms, the controversial CEO is walking back the plan, now saying the new rule would apply only to accounts wherein the “primary purpose is the promotion of competitors,” which, Musk writes, “essentially falls under the no spam rule.”
The initial, stricter policy was immediately questioned by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, who posted the simple “Why?” in response to the original announcement, and by Edward Snowden.
Within hours of the new rules getting posted, the tweets and web pages outlining them were removed.
Those since-deleted tweets specified the social platforms whose links or usernames would prompt suspension: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post.
Policy will be adjusted to suspending accounts only when that account’s *primary* purpose is promotion of competitors, which essentially falls under the no spam rule

After Twitter owner Elon Musk spent the last few days suspending — and then unsuspending —journalists tasked with covering him, the social media site on Sunday unveiled a policy banning the free promotion of certain other sites.

Singer Kendrick Lamar has given ‘Count Me Out’ a music video treatment. The visuals feature a special guest appearance from Helen Mirren.
In the black-and-white clip, Helen stars as Kendrick’s therapist who is patiently waiting for the emcee to talk.
The rapper, who is seated in front of a grand piano, later recalls the incident in which he denied taking a parking spot from someone before admitting that he did. The pair then laugh together.
After Helen asks Kendrick: “You texted me at 2 in the morning, ‘I feel like I’m fallin’,’ why’d you feel that way?” the two split onto opposite sides of the screen. The middle section, meanwhile, narrates the rapper’s lyrics in full colour. There is footage of him getting a Covid-19 test, putting on a fake smile for a toast with former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and venture capitalist Vivi Nevo, and others.

San Francisco, Dec 14 (Ians) Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has responded to new owner Elon Musk’s purported expose ‘The Twitter Files’ and said he believes that the company has nothing to hide, contrary to how the files have been presented.
Dorsey wrote an essay on Revue, an editorial newsletter tool for writers and publishers on Tuesday, reports The Verge.
He said that the Twitter staff should not be targeted for perceived slights, and stated that he wished the information had been “released Wikileaks-style.”
He also promoted Bitcoin and his own social networking protocol in the essay.
Dorsey’s response came after Musk spent almost a week promoting five selective document releases known as the ‘Twitter Files’, which revealed internal documents, Slack logs and emails.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut again heaped admiration on the new Twitter chief and second richest businessman in the world, Elon Musk, on Sunday. The actress, who is currently busy with multiple projects in different stages of production, took to the story section of her Instagram on Sunday afternoon and posted a screenshot of Musk’s tweet which showed morphed images of the old Twitter head Jack Dorsey and US President Joe Biden.

New York, Dec 10 (Ians) Jay Bhattacharya, an Indian-origin Stanford University professor, who had said that Covid lockdowns would harm children, was placed on a “Trends Blacklist”, internal Twitter documents have revealed

New Delhi, Dec 9 (Ians) New Twitter owner Elon Musk on Friday said the company will delete and free names of 1.5 billion accounts that have been inactive for years on the platform.
“Twitter will soon start freeing the name space of 1.5 billion accounts. These are obvious account deletions with no tweets and no login for years,” said the billionaire.
Musk also said that the micro-blogging platform is working on a process to inform the users whether their tweets have been suppressed under a process known as “shadow banning” and they can appeal against the ban.
He added that Twitter is also working on a software update that will show your true account status.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (Ians) The ‘Twitter Files revealed by Elon Musk has implicated Vijaya Gadde, the Indian-origin former head of legal, policy and trust at the company, in suppressing Hunter Biden’s laptop story on the platform, while giving a clean chit to former CEO Jack Dorsey.

San Francisco, Dec 3 (Ians) Praising Indian-origin Democrat Ro Khanna, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has released internal ‘Twitter Files’ that revealed how the micro-blogging platform took orders from the US President Joe Biden’s team to suppress the censorship of his son Hunter Biden’s laptop story, published by the New York Times during the 2020 US presidential elections.
Musk tweeted a link to the account of independent journalist and author Matt Taibbi, who posted a series of tweets revealing the Twitter Files.
“On October 14, 2020, the New York Post published ‘Biden Secret Emails’, an expose based on the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop,” Taibbi posted late on Friday.
He claimed that Twitter took “extraordinary steps to suppress the story,” removing links and posting warnings that it may be unsafe.
“They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography,” Taibbi posted.

Twitter has released a tweetstorm of its internal discussions about its efforts to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story Friday night via journalist Matt Taibbi.
Most shocking revelation in the news, being delivered in a series of separate tweets, is that former CEO Jack Dorsey was not aware of the decisions to hold back. Instead, Vijaya Gadde, the head of the company’s Trust & Safety – and one of the first executives fired by new owner Elon Musk upon taking control of Twitter – made the call.
The controversial material on Biden’s laptop was discovered when he left the computer at a repair shop. When he didn’t return to retrieve it, the owner examined its hard drive, leading to a potential political scandal over its contents shortly before the 2020 presidential election.

Elon Musk released the anticlimatic “Twitter Files” about “free speech suppression” by the social-media platform on Friday evening. On Monday, he teased the release, writing, “The public deserves to know what really happened …”
What followed after was a series of tweeted snippets detailing what the public has known—and what Twitter executives themselves have detailed over the past two years—about the company’s deliberation surrounding the New York Post’s publication of files from Hunter Biden shortly before the 2020 election.

New Delhi, Nov 25 (Ians) Defending Jack Dorsey once again, his billionaire friend Elon Musk on Friday said that the former Twitter CEO has a “pure heart”.
Reacting to a Twitter follower who asked if Dorsey lied before the US Congress, Musk replied: “Jack has a pure heart.”
Dogecoin influencer Matt Wallace posted: “Crypto culture changed Jack Dorsey. He went from a censorship champion to someone who supports freedom! Respect for his moves to help undo the damage he did.”
Dorsey, along with Facebook (now Meta) CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai testified before the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 25 this year, over the spread of misinformation and disinformation in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riots.

Elon Musk has managed to piss off just about everyone on Twitter, and after announcing that he would be instituting what appears to be a shadowbanning policy on the platform, even the right wingers who lauded him as the savior of “free speech” are in an uproar.

San Francisco, Nov 17 (Ians) As the new Twitter Boss Elon Musk is revamping the micro-blogging platform, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey on Thursday morning tweeted, “nobody knows anything”.
To this, Musk responded: “Magic knows it all.”
This comes after a wave of impersonation turmoil caused by a modification to Twitter’s “blue tick” verification method.
The first two weeks of Musk’s ownership of Twitter have been marked by rapid change and chaos.
Musk and Dorsey got into an argument last week over the “Birdwatch” function and the social media platform’s vision.
Earlier, Dorsey had apologised to Twitter’s employees, following the company’s layoff of nearly 50 per cent of its workforce as part of the new owner’s ambitious revamp plan.
He had expressed regret over having too quickly expanded the micro-blogging platform.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment presents the comeback of a lifetime in Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm, the newest film based on Adult Swim's iconic Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Created by Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, the original show ran for 11 seasons, and also produced a previous movie: Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters. The original characters and cast members return for Plantasm, but plenty has changed since they were last a true blue team.
Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm sees Frylock (Carey Means), Master Shake (Dana Snyder), Meatloaf (played by Willis), and their friend-slash-landlord Carl (also played by Willis) living separate lives with not a lot of joy in them. But when Frylock's new boss Neil from the mega-corporation Amazin proves to be biting off a lot more than he can chew, the old teammates must join forces once more and attempt to stop crime. Elon Musk’s journey as owner of Twitter was fraught from the beginning. But, after seven months of negotiations and a lawsuit, he’s now officially in charge of the microblogging platform and is facing a new wave of headaches. There are legal threats over mass layoffs, advertisers fleeing the platform and widespread backlash after his proclamation that blue checks would cost 20 per month — which Musk lowered to 8 after a public exchange with author Stephen King (whose response was, “Fuck that, they should pay me”).
Then, of course, there’s his 44 billion investment. Musk — who brought on outside backers including Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, Vc fund Sequoia Capital and cryptocurrency exchange Binance; convinced current equity holders Jack Dorsey and Prince Alwaleed bin Talal to retain their stakes in the company; and took out more than 13 billion in loans to fund his takeover — says the company is hemorrhaging money.

With the upheaval continuing at Twitter, the emerging alternative social network Mastodon has attracted a lot of former Twitter users.
Even before Elon Musk followed through with his proposed 44 billion takeover of Twitter, the 16-year-old social network’s user base was on the alert. When Musk finally closed the deal after spending months trying to fight it, his arrival at the helm has been followed by a non-stop series of provocations. He has fired half of Twitter’s workforce; shared a conspiracy theory about the attack on Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Polosi; jousted with account holders like Stephen King, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Kathy Griffin, and made pronouncements about a more laizzes-faire future in terms of content moderation and the return of long-banished figures like former President Donald Trump.

The animosity toward Dorsey has reached a fever pitch in the wake of the service firing a reported 3,700 people from its 7,500 worldwide workforce. Many blamed him for allowing the money-losing service to fall into disrepair under his watch.
“Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient,” Dorsey tweeted Saturday morning. His comments came after The New York Post ran a story indicating many “hate” him.

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey is betting that Elon Musk can turn the social platform’s fortunes around.
According to securities filings Monday evening, Dorsey opted to roll his ownership stake in the company over to Musk’s new private venture. While Musk had said in the months leading up to the closing of the deal that he had been in talks with Dorsey to roll over his stake, neither man had confirmed the deal until the filings were disclosed on Oct. 31.
Dorsey owned more than 18 million shares in Twitter, valued at about 1 billion. He could have cashed those shares out at 54.20 a piece when Musk took the company private, instead, he will end up saving Musk about 1 billion in his purchase price by rolling those shares over.

As far as we know, the deal hasn’t been closed yet, but Elon Musk updated his personal Twitter account on Wednesday with a new bio that suggests he’s finally going to close the 44 billion acquisition of the site despite months of his trying to get out of it.
Musk, the world’s richest man, now calls himself “chief Twit” and lists his location as “Twitter HQ.” You can see what that looks like above.
The Tesla CEO’s purchase of Twitter is supposed to close on Friday, after months during which Musk tried repeatedly to back out of the deal citing unproven accusations of membership fraud by the social media company. Twitter filed a lawsuit to force Musk to honor the agreement, which Musk fought for months until the beginning of October, when he offered to buy it at the original offer — if Twitter would drop the lawsuit...

Twitter subpoenaed whistleblower Peiter Zatko today, asking for a raft of documents including any related to his “separation” from the company and his buying or selling of Twitter stock.
Allegations by Zatko, Twitter’s former security chief, that the company is negligent in handling cybersecurity risk and in addressing fake accounts have turned up the heat in the social media platform’s litigation against Elon Musk. Zatko’s accusations were sent to federal agencies and made their way to Congress, where he is scheduled to testify in September. That’s a month before a Delaware Chancery Court judge will hear a suit by Twitter against the billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder for terminating his 44 billion takeover of the company.

Jack Dorsey’s biggest regret is that Twitter, which he co-founded, has become a company. In a tweet, Dorsey who is now running financial payments company Block, said: “The biggest issue and my biggest regret is that it (Twitter) became a company”.
When app researcher Jane Manchun Wong asked him in what form did he wish Twitter to become, Dorsey replied: “A protocol. Def can’t be owned by a state, or company. Becomes clearer every day”.
He had earlier tweeted that Twitter should be an open and verifiable protocol.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has submitted a subpoena for evidence from former Twitter CEO Dorsey.
Dorsey stepped down as Twitter CEO last November and handed control of the company he helped create to Parag Agrawal.
The microblogging platform and Musk are preparing for their October 17 trial date at the Delaware Court of Chancery to argue over his attempt to break their acquisition agreement.

San Francisco, Aug 26 (Ians) A US judge has rejected Elon Musk’s absurd demand to ask Twitter to hand over all data for approximately 200 million user accounts for the last three years.
Judge Kathaleen McCormick said no to Musk’s legal team’s “absurdly broad” request, saying that Twitter must hand over the 9,000 accounts it reviewed for its audit in the fourth quarter of 2021, reports The Verge.
“Plaintiff (Twitter) has difficulty quantifying the burden of responding to that request because no one in their right mind has ever tried to undertake such an effort. It suffices to say, Plaintiff has demonstrated that such a request is overly burdensome,” the judge ruled late on Thursday.
Twitter will now need to hand over “a small additional set of data from its review database”, said the judge.
In addition, the judge also agreed to Twitter’s request for documents from Musk’s side,...

Jack Dorsey has been served. As the lawsuit between Elon Musk and Twitter heads to trial in Delaware on Oct. 17, the Tesla exec has subpoenaed the former Twitter CEO, per court documents obtained by E! News. The subpoena comes as Musk has made an effort to back out of the 44 billion deal he made to acquire the company Twitter back in April. According to previous court documents obtained E! News, Twitter claims that Musk has cited an alleged breach of information-sharing, inaccurate representation of data and the firing of some employees as reason to pull out of the deal. Per the documents, Twitter said that Musk's allegations have no merit, instead suggesting Musk is attempting to back out of the...
