Jason Liles, who most recently played the albino gorilla in Dwayne Johnson’s “Rampage,” has been cast as one of several motion-capture actors playing Godzilla’s three-headed archenemy in Legendary and Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla: King of Monsters,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.

King Ghidorah is a kaiju film monster that has golden-scaled wings and three heads. Liles plays the middle head, while Alan Maxson is the right head and Richard Dorton is the left head in the epic action-adventure film that pits Godzilla against some of the biggest monsters in pop culture history; additional mo-cap actors contribute to the body movement of the creature.

Michael Dougherty is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Zach Shields. Liles is joining the previously announced cast of Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, O’Shea Jackson, Sally Hawkins, Thomas Middleditch and Bradley Whitford.

Recent news has been discouraging for actors who work in video games, or for those who have thought about trying to break into the hypercompetitive, often cloistered field. Since reaching a peak of more than $20 billion in 2008, annual revenue for the business has plummeted by about 40 percent—30 percent within the past two years alone, according to research firm Npd Group. Additionally, what gains the industry is making are coming through games such as Angry Birds and Words With Friends, not the high-end, high-production titles—such as “L.A. My God, the internet exploded with nerdalicious nerdliness over the last few days. Nothing really mind-blowing, but still, some fun/weird/profoundly disturbing things came bopping around last week, and to make things interesting, there's a video clip for all of them.

Mortal Kombat!!! Okay, I couldn’t resist. I loved that commercial advertising Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis back when I was in Junior High. But 2011 is the year of Mk, folks, because we have the two original movies coming to Blu-ray (here), a new multi-platform video game, and now, a new miniseries/web series called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth from Fame director Kevin Tancharoen, based off of his amazing fan-made trailer (here).

The film is currently filming in Vancouver, and Cbm has a still from the series, which while is just an on-set pic, it’s something to get us excited, I think:

Mortal Kombat: Rebirth Trailer Is As Brutal As We Remember

In a major sneak trailer that recently hit the web, martial arts sensation (and all around bad-ass) Michael Jai White and sci-fi bombshell Jeri Ryan show up as Capt. Jackson "Jax" Briggs and partner Dt. Sonya Blade.  White, looking as epically pissed off as usual, sits in a darkened interrogation room and lays out the dossiers on several vicious killers to an appropriately shadowed prisoner, the dull orange of his prison garb standing out amidst the dirty sepia of the room.  Apparently the city is going all to hell and Jax is willing to go the distance to make sure the good guys win.
